General Hospital Nurses' Ball Finale: Sabrina, Patrick & Emma Bring Down The House!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

Today was part three of General Hospital’s 50th anniversary celebration and the return of the Nurses’ Ball and what a finale it was!

Teresa Castillo as Sabrina led the way for the last number of the episode and the Nurses’ Ball, entitled, “You’re Not Alone” which was sung in honor of  little Emma Drake (Brooklyn Rae Silzer) who was brought to  the stage by her father, Dr. Patrick Drake (Jason Thompson).  Emma asks Sabrina and Patrick, “Do you think mommy is watching us?”  And from there the tears, and the hankies, for many General Hospital fans began to flow!

And what about Teresa Castillo’s beautiful singing voice and Jason Thompson’s?  Next, Emma runs to her grandmother Anna, the always splendid Finola Hughes, and what happens next was a wonderful show of support and unison by the cast of GH, as the Nurses’ Ball attendees surrounded the stage holding hands and standing tall as Sabrina and Patrick finished the final tune, with Robin’s (Kimberly McCullough) picture looking over them.   More hankies!

One other number that was also a favorite of the episode was Sonya Eddy’s Epiphany singing The Pointer Sisters classic “Jump” accompanied by The Revelations , who turned out to be none other than Monica (Leslie Charleson) and Tracy (Jane Elliot)!  And,  how about Lynn Herring as Lucy who navigated between one introduction to the other with humor, heart, and emotion, that made the whole evening palpable.  What a treasure Lynn is to the history of The Nurses Ball!

There was that phone call in the middle of it all, when Michael (Chad Duell) receives devastating news that Starr (MIA Kristen Alderson) is apparently not coming back to Port Charles!  Of course, we don’t know what was said on the other line!   Molly (Haley Pullos), TJ  (Tequan Richmond) and Nancy Lee Grahn’s  (Alexis) real-life daughter Kate, performed a song of Kate’s entitled, Private School Girls!

And then there was “Britch” (Kelly Thiebaud) revealing she is “pregnant”!  So, is she really? And if so, who is the real baby daddy?  Patrick?  However, after that beat was revealed, it was Finola Hughes and Ian Buchanan’s as Anna and Duke and their touching scene with Emma backstage, after Emma is upset over Britt being pregnant, that provided another memorable moment on the episode.

Now below, watch Teresa Castillo, Jason Thompson and Broolyn Rae Silzer in the emotional heart-tugging Nurses’ Ball finale!  “You’re Not Alone” is now available on iTunes for purchase!   Let us know your thoughts on the final moments and your lasting impressions of The Nurses Ball 2013!

I just adore those 3 so much! Sabrina’s love for Emma and vice versa is so beautiful. Love Ron & Frank for giving us the Nurse’s Ball again! Also, seriously hoping Britt stole Lulu & Dante’s embryos & isn’t carrying Patrick’s kid.

Ooh, clever about the embryos, hadn’t thought of that one just yet.

Great plot twist there! What a mess but oh so watchable!

I thought the SAME thing about the embryos…that way everyone gets a happy ending! Sabrina has really grown on me as a character I like (and I love Felix!) and as a match for Patrick. What will we do when Robin comes back? Aahhhh, soap operas!

I hope Britt stole their embryo too…im the one who predicted Britt pregnant and even wrote the suggestion that she did steal their embryo, that way Britt would have more ties to other characters other than just Patrick plus more enemies too like Dante, Lulu, Luke and Laura. I hope Britt and her evil momma stick around but if the writers eventually kill off Britt maybe a year from now, there could be many suspects if the Spenser clan is also involved, and Dr.O could be the next Helena Luke and Laura would have to deal with, then a short time later the actress who played Britta could return as her unknown identical twin sister Greta and in a shocking twist fall in love with Lukes son Ethan or Lauras son Nikolous! Or maybe Lucky shows up in town with his new girlfriend and its Britts twin Greta! Oh the possibilities and twist and turns! Are you reading this Ron C. this would be great ideas for the storyline that could keep us tuning in for many months to come!

The list of possible suspects if Britt is killed off: Dante, Lulu, Luke, Laura, Maxi, Spinneli, maybe Ellie, Frisco, Felicia, Mac, Patrick, Sabrina, Robin(if she returns) or even little Emma who couldve pushed Britt during a kidnapping attempt, and Britt fell and hit her head! Maybe its Lucy Coe who kills Britt after learning Britt found Lucys old duck and ate him for dinner because of her pregnancy cravings! lol

that is what I am thinking to about the embryo. But come on she is way to big for three months. Also last week there was no bump.

A new way of aging a child on soaps…one day no baby bump…the next day the momma-to-be is big as a house…maybe with Britt and her family so evil its one of those demon or possesed babies in movies or shows that can grow very quickly…lol!

i love sabrina and patrick this made me cry 🙂 i little emma too

i mean to say i love little emma opps

I agree Becky. These three can overcome any obstucles. Don’t know why people hate Sabrina. I agree I am a Scrubs fan but Kmc wanted to move on. I can see why Jason Thompson got angry wen someone chastied him for wat moving on. I <3 little Emma and the questions she had. Brit had no right to tell Patrick he of all people should be careful of diseases that was a dig at Robin and I hated for it. But the actor should be appuladed she knows we hate her , she showed me her vulnerable side wen she told her mom all she wanted was to be loved by Patrick. Love this new assestive Sabrina they should keep her this way. Loved her singing that song to Emma "U not alone" will be downloading it straight after this. Loved Monica , Ephiphany and Tracey. Dissappointed we didn't see Liz and Aj dance. Love Nancys daughter making on screen debut with that song wow. To conclude I loved Nurses Ball 2013. Thank u Frank and Ron for bringing it back. I feel like having a Ball Now

Though I loved all the numbers…and yes was all misty during much of the episode…I wondered what happened to Bobby, Noah, Sonny, Carly…I know they need to save money and budget the show but for a moment like this filling up the room with extras while leaving out major players was a letdown for me. Seems like they had them arrive…panned to them a few times…then they’re gone.

Love Patrick/Sabrinna, Mac/Felicia, Duke/Anna…/thought the Michael/Starr phone call while necessary was ridiculous…

So in the entire extravaganza we didn’t have Kevin (who had to exit early), Frisco who also left early, Lulu, Dante, Luke, Laura, Sonny, Carly, Kristina, Connie…oh, and Noah…where’d he go???

Touching moments, fun…endearing, adorable, warm n’ fuzzy…but, for me, incomplete.

I agre about the characters that went MIA. For being a charity event, the room got pretty empty! Would haved to have Carly, Jax and Noah still in the room.

totally agree with the Michael/Starr phone call — I realize GH had to do something wtih Starr but it’s out of character for her to ‘break up?’ over the phone.

Loved Sabrina, Emma & Patrick! The more Jason Thompson the Better!!

* really I can spell!!* geez

I like to think some of those who went missing were in the potty…it helped me better accept them not in all the scenes…lol

I read somewhere that Kate and Connie dislike each other and refused to perform at the nurses ball together and because of their diva behavior Frank V and Ron C decided not to use them in any of the NB scenes to avoid any trouble! Its been known Kate and Connie have never gotten along and i fear sooner or later one of them might be let go!? Seriously!!!

haha JimH!!! Probably better off we didn’t get any extra scenery chewing from Kate/Connie but she could have done one of those strip teases to light up the show! Yeah, hopefully either Vanessa Marcil can stick around or we can get back to either Kate or Connie. Not both!

I noticed this too. The first thought that came to me was that this was the only way to have so many big actors there…budget wise. Compare the 2013 Ball to the ones in the 90’s and you can see how big the set was compared to the Metro Court. Also, it was really dark so you really couldn’t see who was actually present sometimes. Listen, I’m so not complaining and if it makes GH able to put this on then Bravo to Frank and company. It was hysterical watching Tracy dance and I loved her preening when she arrived at the Ball for the photographers. I actually laughed, in a good way, when they showed Obtrect dancing to Jump….I just love how GH isn’t so dark anymore. Everybody had great voices and you could see how much fun they were having. BRAVO!!!!!

I thought the scene were Dr.O dancing was funny too!

Maybe those who went missing were in the bathroom? lol

haha, probably!! Loved Monica, Ephipany and Tracy dancing!! I also think Bradford Anderson is such a tremendous talent! GH is fun all around!!!!
Why no Kate/Connie doing some cuckoo number though? hmm

Dr. O’s dancing was cute.

you know what? she’s actually a lovely woman.

that tight bun… severe demeanor… is telling.

having said.. that… it’s sad to see, a character, like Brit… who’s misguided PAST… is driven by being loved… tearful…. you wanna show compassion for Britt. you can tell, her longing looks and pauses… are pulling at her.

hopefully… Dr. O…. will help her through this… since Faison is no longer with… ?

Absolutely loved the finale and just bought the song. I wondered if I’d get a sniffle with my giggles, and bit did these folks deliver. Robin would be well-pleased that Sabrina lives her daughter so sincerely (not hard to do, of course)!

I absolutely loved the ending! The Nurses’ Ball overall was great! I’m even more excited about this show now than I was before. Can’t wait to see what comes next!

i think that britt is pregnant with lulu’s embyo – which could mean that lante will get their much anticipated baby because britt doesn’t really want the baby – she can’t stand kids!

i already posted this – perhaps it’s Brit’s way of saying…

she didn’t like the way her Parents… raised her…. Dr. O/Faison.

msguided Brit… will ultimately come clean…

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them too Becky! Sabrina, Patrick and Emma – Awesome little family! The NURSE’S BALL was absolutely fabulous – The only thing I wish is that it was not ruined by the brich Britt showing up with her nonsense. Couldn’t Patrick and Sabrina go on at least ONE real date before she has to ruin it for them – I was hoping Patrick was going to be one of those that always finds the perfect little ‘family’ on GH. I hope she disappears soon with her fake pregnancy that’s no doubt going to mess up someone’s plan!!!

Well done!!! Well done by all!!! Congratulations GH what a way to celebrate 50 years and the best show!!!

LOVED the 3 days of Nurses Ball splendor!!! I love the shows where all or most of the cast play together! Brooklyn/Emma also appears to love those days… because she really looked like she was having the time of her life performing and playing with the adults! Except of course… when the Brit ruins the mood. Everyone did such a great job and this cast always looks like they are having a blast when they get together for these big episodes… they look ike they really enjoy and support each other! They get to play with people they may not normally play with and it just makes it so much better and so much fun! They are a very talented cast and there are so many things they can do outside of their normal roles… such fun to see Ephinany with Tracy and Monica… what a hoot… loved it and them!

Still wish Frisco was staying around loger for Maxie! Missed seeing Carly more and would have liked to see her perform! Wished Jax/Ingo was staying around longer for Carly!

Loved the finale with Sabrina and Patrick singing with Emma and Robin’s picture in view!!! Again well done by all!!! Loved that the cast came up in support of Robin and Emma and Patrick!!! If we can’t have KM back as Robin with Patrick and Emma… I know I am fine with Sabrina being with Patrick and Emma!!! Teresa has been and continues to be doing a phenomenal job and I am looking forward to seeing her further evolution and her involvement with Patrick and Emma!!!! A character was born so to speak… just as one… seems to be slipping further away… how sad and yet so sweet! Somehow… even if we get our wish and KM comes back for some duration… Sabrina will be a part of the family for a long time!

Loved it all and can’t wait for the next episode!!! Thanks Everyone at GH for bringing your A game and bringing this show into it’s next 50 years!!! Love GH!!!

Another fine post from you!

Thanks!

I’ve watched the finale a few times and am even more amazed at how well Brooklyn did playing the emotion with no lines just with her movement and her facial expressions… phenomenal!!! Loved the finale!!!

Brooklyn is my favorite child actress…hope they never age her!

Really, the whole Nurses Ball was a wonderful three-day event. So many wraps and so many beginnings have me anxious to see what’s next.

I think the cast and crew did a marvelous job!

As I’ve said before, the performances at the Ball were just homey enough to make them seem real; like you might be surprised to know someone to from accounting actually has a pretty singing voice or can dance. I loved that realism.

The closing number was beautiful. Was that song composed for the show or was it made popular elsewhere? I’ve never heard it.

Thank you, GH, for a wonderfully heart-felt, entertaining and beautiful Nurses Ball 2013! I hope it’s back next year. (Hint. Hint.)

I know this might not be a popular opinion on this board, but I would grade the 50th Anniversary/Nurses Ball a ‘C’. Some of it was very entertaining, but I found that last number to be really corny. And the character assassination of Frisco – combined with the cheap Cassadine theatrics – left me wishing for the old days.

Agree on Frisco. He actually makes Robert look like a Father of the Year candidate!

Also, I would have liked more clips from days-gone-by mixed in. Musical montages of some of the super-couples from days gone by.

Also would have preferred to have seen the “spirits” of Alan, Rick and Emily in attendance at the Ball rather than the standard Monica/Tracy sitcom scenario that was spun instead. And why wasn’t Audrey there?

Also agree! The Britta pregnant thing is a classic Ron C script and is tiring and boring, glad I won’t be sitting thru that. Loved the oldies, Frisco, Felicia & Mac, Anna & Duke, Luke & Laura, enve Lucy C whom I couldn’t stand back in the day. Would of liked to seen more Sonny & Carly. Will tune in the rest of the week because Robin will be there some way or other. she began taping 2/28 so her scenes are yet to air.

I know some of us agree on this and I do too to a point and I’m not bashing you so please don’t take it that way. The character of Frisco was always written to be horrible as a father…so was Felicia. I started watching GH because I fell in love with Frisco/Felicia and then I fell head over heals in love with GH as a show. I blame writers and regimes past for decimating both characters. Phelps never used Felicia well even as KW was available. JW left and appeared on other soaps and primetime. Would GH ever have recast Frisco? If JW wasn’t going to stay, this to me was a great way to have him leave. Felicia/Mac share a big history too and I always liked them together. JW could always come back and maybe he was testing the waters at GH…especially with working with KW…his ex-wife! I was very happy to see JW AND Frisco back to celebrate the 50th. Maybe Rachel Ames only agreed to come back for that one day…which was a great tribute to her and John Beradino. I’m just trying to say that these story decisions maybe aren’t as sinister as some of you are thinking. I use sinister in good faith here. We all want whats best for GH and would Guza/Phelps even have brought back the Ball or even mentioned Jessie Brewer and Amy Vining? Most of the characters you missed during the Ball or who were there was either killled off of had their character initially ruined under Phelps regime. I loved it was worth all the buildup. I’m truly sorry you thought it was lacking.

I dont see you bashing anyone…i liked your post and agree with you!

I don’t think anything is sinister at all. Many inclusions and exclusions were probably based on budgetary considerations as much as anything. And I think Frank V. did a masterful job bringing so many favorites back. I just didn’t care for the characterization of Frisco. He wasn’t ‘always’ portrayed as a bad father. That version of Frisco was ‘created’ long after Jack Wagner’s last appearance. With Jack actually on the show, I just think it could have been handled differently.

I agree with you. Just went back to watch the nurses ball shows of the nineties. One of the things I thought was awesome then was they had the entire performance (minus a couple instances)…then they took breaks for silent auctions and raffles. They kept reminding the characters and viewers why they were there…We were introduced to wonderful characters like John Hanley (Lee Mathis). I cried when Lucy (Lynn Herring) announced his passing. Emily presented her “video project” one year, another year, they gave testimonials of aids patients by candlelight. When they took their “breaks” then you got to see the drama of the characters without missing the characters performances. Was disappointed that we didn’t even get to see AJ and Elizabeth and that during Epiphany, Tracy and Monica’s performance, they kept switching to Brit and her mom. Was not interested in that…would have rather had the entire performance uninterrupted. Overall, it was good and the memorial for Jessie Brewer and Amy Vining was nice. I was just hoping for outstanding, like what we were treated to in previous nurses ball shows.

I’m thinking that it is dante and lulu’s baby and she he loses it or it dies durning child birth and demands or takes Maxie’s baby

I STILL maintain that Maxie is carrying a Falconeri baby- she was carrying twins and miscarried one. Dr. Britch used that knowledge to her advantage after Maxie confessed to her one night stand with Spinelli. Perhaps she also impregnated herself with another Falconeri embryo as part of her mother’s grand scheme (does she know about Robin being alive?). Loved Molly’s number, Epiphany’s and the finale- is that a new song? Why was I suddenly thinking about Jerry Lewis singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone” at the end of his MDA telethons? Can the Rodgers & Hammerstein people sue ABC for making a song so similar?

I would’ve loved to see the Liz/A.J. number myself. Considering A.J.’s own basic insecurities in thinking that no one would love him for himself instead of his money & status (this is what people like Nikki Langton and Carly can do to a guy!), it’s not surprising that he may feel threatened by Nikolas. Here’s hoping he can get past it, and that Elizabeth can give him the emotional security he needs. If all else fails, I can see him with Sabrina as she has NO future with Patrick anyway since Robin is still alive, and once that truth comes out, she’ll be out in the cold.

I like the twin scenario – good idea!!

I like your way of thinking about the Maxi/Britt baby storyline…you are kinda like me…i thought my ideas were good but now i kinda like yours better!

I SO agree about Maxie carrying twins! Makes much more sense than what is being played out.

I love it and Love Sabrina/Emma/Patrick, And The Nurses Ball is awesome. 🙂

I love the Patrick-Sabrina-Britt storyline, and what a kick in the nuts that Britt is pregnant with Patrick’s baby! GH has had some great plot twists and turns the last couple of months. It’s turned into must-watch, incredible daytime TV.

I love Sabrina & Patrick & Emma they are awesome to together I believe that Britt is not having. Patrick baby I believe she take Lulu egg and put in her body and say that it is Patrick baby to get him to love her. I am a big fan of Patrina I hope that Patrick fight for Sabrina doesn’t let Britt come between them because they are a cute couple and I love little Emma that she love Sabrina and want her in her family.

I thought they should have ended the “Ball” w/ Epiphany and the Revelations…

that was an absolute scream…. a riot…

everybody Dance…. that train… was a fitting ending. LOL… i laughed for Monica and Tracy.

———————-

the last song.. w/Sabrina singing “you are not alone”… was a little too much….

it’s like GH is shoving the pairing… of Patrick and Sabrina….

That song was to Emma

I know… but… it’s too much… to take in…. the cutesy cutesy lovey dovey… like this threesome gelled and belonged from the start.

they persevered and fought off all the elements…

?

I totally get it. I didn’t even finish listening to the song! LOL. I DO NOT like those ‘let’s just break out into song’ type of shows. Not a fan of Glee at all! LOL. Just not my thang! 🙂

But I also thought it was sweet and endearing to Emma. For me, it wasn’t about Patrick and Sabrina “the couple”. It was about that moment and putting Emma first and making sure she felt protected and loved after all that ish with Britt. Having Robin’s picture in the background just solidified that she will never be forgotten and that Emma will always be her Mom. I also heard everyone in the audience held hands in support. That was nice.

Love Sabrina and Patrick.
I remember reading a possible Britt “redemption storyline”. Maybe it could be revealing she is carrying Lulu and Dante’s baby… maybe after getting involved with Ethan. He would be the type of character that would understand her and maybe bring her some likablity. She might want to be honest with him if she cared for him.

Another thought I had was when Sabrina talked about her mom being a nurse who would listen to her heart. Couldn’t it be possible she could be Anna’s daughter with David. Maybe her nurse mother listen to her heart often because Anna and David’s presumed dead daughter was born with a heart defect.

Just a few thoughts.

The Nurse’s Ball was terrific. I loved all the acts. Emma was adorable, and she has a great singing voice. It was the best two days I ever had.

I was very happily surprised at the Nurses’ Ball for 2013 …. it was even better than I anticipated. I thought all of the acts were fantastic …. particularly loved Sabrina and Emma. Jack/Frisco sounded better (and looked fabulous) than I have ever heard him, and Rick Springfield (Noah) blew me out of the ballroom. What talent we have on GH … the Nurses’ song was out of this world… and what can I say about Milo’s Magic men???? Lucy Coe was the BEST hostess and carried on just like she had been on GH constantly and there had been a ball each year. She also managed to end up in her undies …. she was really the belle of the ball…but I really loved them all!!!!! WHAT A DELIGHTFUL SHOW!!!!!!!!!

I think Lesley should have been brought back.

Make it. Happen with Patrick and Sabrina. I love them together not Britt.

that song is stuck in my head I love that song I am addicted to that song that is the saddest song ever and the cutest song I love so much I play have listened to that song about 20 times already.
