GH's Bryan Craig Talks On A Bipolar Morgan, Working With Maurice Benard, Ron Carlivati & Social Media!

Courtesy/ABC

General Hospital’s Bryan Craig (Morgan) has been on an emotional rollercoaster of late, both on-screen and off.  The young actor has been handed the most challenging storyline of his career, when the powers-that-be made the creative decision to have the character of Morgan Corinthos suffer from Bipolar disorder, which explains so many of the character’s impulsive decisions and behaviors since he became a young adult.

To make this story all the more gut-wrenching is the fact that Morgan’s father, Sonny (Maurice Benard) has been battling the highs and lows of being bipolar for many, many years.  Since being bipolar can be hereditary and can run in the family, the ABC soap opera decided to tell this raw and important story, which once again puts Benard back on-screen utilizing his personal experience with the illness into his performances, which also helps inform Craig during his work in this storyline.

That’s not all!  Recently, Morgan found himself a murder suspect in the death of Silas Clay.  But when all came to light, it wasn’t just the good doc who was stabbed in the back! Morgan found out that the woman claiming to be Denise DeMuccio was actually the very much alive Ava Jerome (Maura West).  During a major courtroom confession on the witness stand during the murder trial, Ava coped to her scheme.  Since Morgan was now without a doubt sleeping with Ava this whole time, and since she was revealed to be so duplicitous, that relationship has seemingly tanked.  But so too did Morgan’s relationship with his girlfriend Kiki.  The young Jerome got an earful from Franco (Roger Howarth) learning that her boyfriend and her mother were having sex, right behind her back!  Needless to say, she dumped Morgan.  Now with no women in his life, and his behavior spiraling out of control, he shared his pain with his father, who told him that no matter what he would be there for his son, and loves him unconditionally, and will help him through this.  But then came the irony; as the Corinthos clan gathers for Sonny and Carly’s (Laura Wright) wedding, Sonny is MIA … he has been shot!

Backstage, Bryan, who has had his share of unfortunate struggles with acceptance from some GH fans on Twitter, recently found himself involved in a heated social media exchange.  Craig had informed his “haters” that the character of Morgan had some major on-screen material coming their way.  Some viewers did not take kindly to the words in the tweet, and from there things took an unfortunate nosedive which included at various points: a soap fan having some choice words about Craig, the actor’s parents stepping up to defend their son on social media which also stirred the pot, and Craig, in defense of his loved ones, sending out what has become a controversial and inflammatory tweet due to its content.

On-Air On-Soaps chatted with Bryan to get his thoughts on: getting to play the bipolar Morgan, how he has prepared for this heavy emotional storyline, a preview of what viewers can expect next.  Will Morgan get the help he needs … or will he continue finding his life out of control?  The young star also talks about working with his co-stars: Daytime Emmy winners Maurice Benard and Maura West (Ava), the departure of head writer Ron Carlivati who gave Bryan the material and the opportunity to display some incredible performances, his take on social media now after all he has experienced and learned from, and what went down the day he proposed marriage to the love of his life Kelly Thiebaud (Ex-Britt).  In a candid, heartfelt interview here’s what Bryan shared.

When you first heard that the powers-that-be were going to have Morgan become bipolar, what were your initial thoughts?

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  I was excited to have something different to play than I have ever played before.  Frank Valentini (executive producer, GH) had me shave my head, which is cool, to go through a physical change for a storyline.  Also, I was excited to play it, because Maurice Benard (Sonny) actually suffers from that illness, and so I knew that it would be a storyline that was close to home for him.  I knew I could get a lot of information from him on how to play it correctly, and kind of have a “coach”, if you will, that would be right there.  I was also excited to research it and educate myself more on it, because I really had no idea what this entails.  So, it’s been a new adventure on the show that I have been able to take.

So, they felt by the action of the shaving of the head that it was more indicative of someone with Bipolar disorder?  I know a lot of fans just thought you had made this decision to change your look as a personal style choice.

Courtesy/Twitter

BRYAN:  It was to show another way that Morgan can be impulsive, and it was a random thing that he just did.  It was one of the first things that Sonny noticed when he said to Morgan, “You shaved your head!”  And I sort of pulled away from him.  Morgan tends to do these things out of nowhere.  I just think it was a red flag, and it was a way for people to see Morgan in a different light.  Morgan shaved his head off-camera, and it also felt to Frank that shaving it gave me a harder look, if you will, because they were kind of hinting at the possibility that Morgan may have killed Silas.  They were just trying to get the audience to not look at me as young, soft, stupid Morgan.

It was so interesting to watch your reaction in the courtroom scene where Denise confesses she is actually Ava Jerome (Maura West), because when they panned to Morgan and Kiki (Hayley Erin), he had a very tense, but minimal reaction to the whole reveal, while Kiki was emotional.

BRYAN:  I fought for that, because they wanted me to play surprised.  I was like, “Absolutely not!”  I was like, “Please, do not make my character look that stupid.”  I said; “Let me at least take the angle of being angry, and of ‘You’ve got to be kidding me?’ Rather than it being: ‘Oh, my God!  Ava!’”

It was so far-fetched anyway that Morgan would not know that Denise was Ava, when he was having sex with her over, and over again.

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  That was the hardest storyline I have ever had to play, and for believability.  This is nothing that I haven’t already said in front of directors, and Frank, and that’s, “It’s just not believable.”  On the soaps in general, there are a lot of far-fetched storylines, and they could be plausible sometimes, because you are watching television, and it’s not real. But this was just so far out that it was really hard for everyone involved in it.

Was the decision to have Morgan suffer from Bipolar disorder the idea of former GH head writer Ron Carlivati, before he was let-go from the show?

BRYAN:  Yes, I think so.  This was a decision I believe that Frank, and Ron had made.  I don’t know who more so, but Frank was the one that gave me the big news about it.  But that was when Ron was here writing the show, and that was not the start of the new material, and it was done phenomenally.  I reached out to Ron and told him this story has been so awesome.  I thanked him so much for obviously writing this material.

Ron gave you such a beautiful parting-gift!

BRYAN:  What is really cool about it is it sort of wraps-around with my first year on the show.  Ron wrote me that big wedding scene, which got me my first Daytime Emmy nomination, and that was a turning point.  Coming in and being a new guy on the soaps can be tough.  People don’t really take a liking to you, and that is the first time, I think, that people started to go, “Oh, maybe this kid is alright.  Maybe he can act a little bit.”  I felt like Ron truly came full-circle with it through this material that he just wrote for me a few years later on his way out.  I found it ironic, and really cool.

So do you think then that the actions of Morgan Corinthos over the last many months were a device to plant the fact that eventually it would be revealed that he suffered from this mental illness?

BRYAN:  Honestly, it makes so much sense that I don’t really know.  But what a great excuse for all of those things he did!  I don’t know if they had that planned all along, or maybe it was an avenue that they thought they may take at some point.

Where is Morgan at with his feelings for Ava and Kiki at this point in his life, after all the betrayals?

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  I think Morgan absolutely despises Ava, and hates her.  I don’t see Morgan and Ava ever getting back together again.  With Kiki, I think he really still loves her, and he knows he really screwed everything up.  I think he has accepted that their relationship is gone, as well.  So I think as far as women right now, he’s over it, and he thinks they are both out of his life.  Morgan has no animosity towards Kiki.   He has a ton of it for Ava! Morgan does not trust her at all.

You have played opposite Hayley Erin as Kiki, and before that Kristen Alderson and you were together on-screen for some time, when she played the part.  I think Hayley has had an uphill battle for fan acceptance as well, something you experienced when you started on GH.

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  Kiki has been a tough character, and it seems that most of the audience has not taken to her, and that was even when Kristen Alderson was playing her.  Hayley has had a pretty tough shoe to fill there.  Not to mention, that although she has done soaps before it was a long time ago; and GH can be a tough set.  There’s a lot of really strong women on that set, and a lot of really strong male actors, as well.  It has been great working with her.  She has been fun to work with.  I don’t know if it matters who they hire for the role. I don’t know that the majority of fans like the character, as it seems that the character isn’t quite fleshed out.  I think Hayley knows that.  When I came on as Morgan, it was a character that had already been established, and there was room to go with the character.  He has had a much different storyline, where he is likeable and then not likeable, but I feel like Kiki has just sort of been on flat-line since the character was created.

Your other leading lady has been three-time Daytime Emmy winner, Maura West.  How has it been sharing screen-time and scenes with this dynamo?

BRYAN:  I don’t think I could get any luckier than to be in storylines with Maura, and Maurice Benard.  She is incredible.  Maura and I are good friends, and Kelly and she are good friends, which makes what we have to do a lot less awkward.  It’s already an awkward storyline because of our ages.  She is such a great actress, and so professional.  Nothing is hard to do with her.

Your scenes this past week with Maurice Benard in Sonny’s living room have garnered so much praise.  The two of you delivered touching, raw, and heartbreaking performances, as Sonny tries to console and help his son admit he needs to get help to treat his illness, just like Sonny has.  Have you had the opportunity to watch back the scenes?

BRYAN:  I haven’t seen them yet!  But, I have never gotten so many accolades from fans on Twitter, and actors on other shows, and even the network reached out to me.  That felt really good.  It was a tough day when we filmed those scenes.  I did not sleep the entire night before.  I did that kind of purposely.  I was in a really bad place coming to work already.   Maurice will tell you, and Frank will tell you, I came on to the set crying already, and really messed up.  When the scene started and I saw Maurice, I mean that was not acting.  Maurice was picturing his real-life young son and thinking, “What if my son grows up and has this issue?”  You could see that in Maurice’s eyes.  So, when I saw that it broke me up.  Frank was on set for every single scene, and was right there with us.  He was absolutely phenomenal in working with us.  You could hear a pin drop on the set that day.  Everyone was moved out that did not need to be there.  It was just extremely well set up for us as actors, and that is another reason I think it turned out well.

It must be at times so painful for Maurice to delve into his real-life personal battle with Bipolar disorder, when having to tap into that when it calls for it in story for Sonny.  How is it for you knowing Maurice has to deal with this off and on screen?

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  It was a hard month for him and me, both.  You are right.  Since Maurice actually deals with this in his real life, and to force him into this mindset at work when he doesn’t need to be, but he does it for his work, it’s tough.  And honestly, me not being bipolar, it’s so exerting to try to put yourself there mentally, and to understand what it might be like that for the month we were shooting all the material surrounding the bipolar storyline, I was miserable outside of work.  When I got home to Kelly, I had nothing to give emotionally.  I went to therapy a couple of times – it was really an exhausting month.  Maurice and I were in talks on the phone every day after work.  It was really about me helping him keep sane, and him helping me keep sane outside of work.

This is where they talk about how the lines blur for actors; separating their real life and their work, and not bringing the emotional life of their characters home with them.  Has it been hard for you to leave Morgan’s emotional state at the studio during this storyline?

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  It has.  I have to say Maurice and I really wanted to do this one well, because there are so many people out there that have this issue, and a lot of them watch the show.  It would be terrible to portray it wrong if half those people felt mocked.  However, I have a ton of people from the bipolar community that reached out to me and everyone has had such great things to say, which makes me so happy.  That’s all I wanted to do was to give it justice.

Will we see Morgan get help and get into therapy?

BRYAN:  He has a long trail of crazy still ahead of him, and that I have shot.  There are some things that he has done that are way over the things that have already aired.  I can say, he goes off the handle even more.  Maurice and I did go to Frank Valentini, and I kind of begged him to get Morgan on some medication soon, which I think is the goal.  You just can’t keep playing this for so long, because in real life normally someone would get treated.  I think Maurice and I would lose our minds if we had to play this for another two months.  I don’t think they need to draw it out for that long.  You will see him lose it, and then get some help … and then comeback from that.  I think everyone wants to see that happen.

Sonny and Carly’s wedding was about to begin, and Morgan is there.   Sonny went out to save a kidnapped TJ (Tequan Richmond) and just got shot.  What can you preview that will be your involvement in upcoming scenes when the show picks back up with new episodes on Tuesday?

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  There are some very big six or seven person scenes at Sonny’s house.   I remember having a lot of dialog to say.   There are moments with Morgan and Carly, and more of the spotlight is on Laura Wright.  She really kills her scenes!  And there is a big reveal that happens soon with the wedding stuff, and then that segues into a whole new storyline, which I think people are going to really like.

Michael (Chad Duell) has had a contentious relationship with Sonny and Carly, and was not to keen on attending the wedding, but Morgan really wants to be there to support them, correct?

BRYAN:  Morgan is all about being at the wedding of his parents, and I believe Michael’s only reason for going to the wedding is because of Morgan.  But then after he does go … this storyline does take a turn when Sonny gets shot, and it kind of brings the whole Corinthos family together in a time of need.

You have somehow become somewhat of a polarizing figure on social media, and as an actor.   You have seen people slam you, and they seem to either like you, or dislike you.  I have seen this happen with so many different actors in the medium.  People need to understand that actors are human beings, and are just trying to do good work in the roles they play that the public sees.   Has it hurt you when you see negativity coming your way?  I know there was the recent incident on Twitter where you took a lot of flack for what you said, and later realized the mistakes you made by your reaction and the words you used.

BRYAN:  Yeah obviously, it sucks to read that people don’t like you, or people just want to say terrible things to you to get a response out of you.  In a perfect world, it would be nice to go on social media and see all positive feedback and comments.  But that is not how it is, unfortunately.  I’ve slipped before, and I have retaliated on social media when I shouldn’t have, but at the end of the day we are all human beings.  It’s the same if you worked at a Target, and your customers were saying you gave us great service, or you were the worst Target employee the world has ever seen.  It doesn’t matter what you do with the negative comments, because after a while some people can say certain stuff that crosses the line, and they want to retaliate.  I’ve made my mistakes on social media, but I have learned to just block it and move on now.   If I read the negative comments and they say: “I really didn’t like your performance,” that’s fine.  That’s their opinion and they are entitled to that.  But I will block people that personally attack me, or personally attack my loved ones, or are saying things that are absolutely ridiculous and asinine, just to get a response.   It sucks to have to do that, but I don’t feel that anyone has the perfect fan base.  There are actors such as Robert Downey Jr., who in my opinion is an incredible actor, and there are websites such as robertdowneyjrsucksatacting.com.  It’s crazy.  There are people who like you, or hate you, but hopefully now I have learned to handle it in a more modest way, rather than retaliating.  You know, I feel bad for kids in this generation, because growing up I did not have social media.  Six-year-olds have Twitter accounts now, and it’s kind of ridiculous.  I think it’s a great thing for marketing and promoting yourself or your company, or whatever it is you do, but it can also be a terrible thing when one person has so much access to so many people at a push of a button, and you can make fun of someone publicly, and in front of 30,000 people, in one sentence or one tweet.  So, I think social media can be a good place, and it can be a bad place.

Did your fiancée and former General Hospital star Kelly Thiebaud (Ex-Britt) watch the episode this week that featured the emotional scenes between you and Maurice?

BRYAN:  Kelly watched, and she was crying when she saw the scenes with me and Maurice.  She was on social media and she said a lot of nice things there.  I think she was very pleased with them.

It has been so fun and touching to see the photos that the two of you posted to Instagram accounts on your engagement!  You both look so in love.  What happened when you proposed to Kelly?  Did it go off without a hitch? (Laughs)

BRYAN:  I never thought I would be engaged at 23, but I fell in love with Kelly.   We were ready a year ago, but it was more of a financial thing.  I wanted to get the right ring.  I wanted to do it in the right place, and she always wanted to go to Bali.  I was finally in a position to make that happen.  I proposed out there, and it was phenomenal.  It was so crazy, because Kelly was kind of on to me about it, because she kept wanting to go look at rings.  But, I was working, and I was busy, and I was like, “Hey! We don’t need to.”   I already had a ring, but I couldn’t tell her that.  So I said, “Babe, just hold off a minute.”  And she was like, “Maybe, he doesn’t want to get engaged to me anymore?”  So, on the flight to Bali I said to her, “I know it’s our two year anniversary, and you are expecting for me to propose.  But baby, it’s just not going to happen on this trip.  I just didn’t have the money; I spent all the money on the trip and all of that.”  I had to break Kelly’s heart, and she was really bummed out at the beginning of the trip, and that was killing me inside!  However, the first night we got there I said, “I did get you a little anniversary gift if you want to open it.”  She goes, “O.K.”   I had bought her this locket necklace and she goes, “Oh! This is so sweet.”  And I say, “Yeah.  You can put a picture in there, or whatever.”  So when she opened the locket, the ring was in there, and it said, “Will you marry me?”  And at first she said, “Is this a joke?”  And I was like, “No!”  So, I had to kind of manipulate it, because she was on to me.  In the end, it worked out pretty well!

In closing, Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante are the new head writers of GH, and we will see their work debut in October.  What are your thoughts on the writing regime change?  Do you think it’s a positive move for the show?

Courtesy/ABC

BRYAN:  Change is always nice, I guess.  I don’t know Shelly and Jean.   I hope they continue with what Ron has left them with in terms of where my storyline goes, because Ron has set this up beautifully.  I would say certain people were unhappy with certain storylines that Ron was giving them, and I think it doesn’t really matter who the writer is – someone is going to be unhappy with what their storyline is.  And not to mention, the ratings were consecutively low recently, and it just so happened that Ron was the head writer at that time.  It could have just as easily been another writer that some actors were not happy with their storylines, so that writer left.  I think it’s all circumstantial.  As I said, I hope Shelly and Jean continue with what Ron left off with, and in my opinion, right now that’s pretty damn good.  I just hope they can continue to make our show better and better!

So, how do you think Morgan will react when he learns Sonny has been shot?  What are your thoughts of Brian’s emotionally-wrought performances of late as viewers are learning the true cause of Morgan’s manic behavior?  What did you think of Bryan showing his appreciation and giving kudos and thanks to exited head writer Ron Carlivati?  And as for the storypoint of playing the affair involving Denise, and that he wasn’t suppose to know it was Ava, did you appreciate Bryan’s candor as he shared the same feelings on this plot point that many a GH fan had?  Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

I think Bryan is doing a great job in the role. Love his chemistry with Maurice and I think if GH moves forward with this story, that Bryan will take the challenge and run with it.
My only wish is that GH gives Morgan a new leading lady worth watching!

I love how HONEST Bryan Craig is. For a young man to have that much insight into what being a celebrity is can be considered nothing but mature and wise. He is younger so he will respond as younger people do. The most amazing thing about Bryan is that he is real about it and doesn’t hide from it. He is one of the stellar younger cast members on GH. That boy can kill any scene he takes on. I loved his work with Maurice Bernard and was amazed at the message they conveyed of a father facing the fear that his son was handed a bad deck and how to get him through it. Both actors are so brilliant. This is amazing storytelling on the part of GH and even though Ron Carlivati is gone, he still deserves kudos for taking on a sensitive subject like mental illness and the ramifications of it on family. I wish Bryan and Kelly much happiness in their marital lives and hope to see both of them attain their wildest dreams.

I agree. Very mature young man. Loved the interview.

Me too Bryan is phenomenal.

I do not appreciate bipolar disease being treated as a plot device and I still maintain that Craig does not have the acting prowess to pull this off. He is very limited.
Enough said.

Time will tell, Harry.

Harry, it’s part of the social contract that soaps make with viewers that issues like this get tackled. In this case, I think it’s a copout, because who among us wasn’t a screwup at 23, but this is the direction they’ve gone…

Mature is not a word I would use to describe Bryan Craig. But he’s only 23 so I’ll assume he will learn from these life experiences and do better moving forward.

I did enjoy the interview. I have also enjoyed his portrayal of Morgan for the most part. I think he can really bring it in the dramatic scenes when needed. I will keep an open mind on his handling of this storyline. I hope he and TPTB do it justice, because it really could be very compelling.

He’s (Bryan) a pretty good young actor and this storyline is a great showcase for his talent. It was very nice of him to share his personal story with Kelly considering everything he’s gone through with Twitter, love hearing how he proposed. It is awful how bad it is on Twitter but now at least he gets it and can now just avoid the negativity. I’m hoping the new writers do us all justice, and keep us wanting to toon in, it was very revealing when he said that some of the actors on the show were complaining about their storyline. Hmmm besides tony Geary , who else?

MB was attacking him and Bryan was supporting the attack. Until this article.

They,of course, made a big mistake letting Carlivati go and replacing him with two re-tread hacks who have made it their business to damage or kill every show they are associated with.I appreciate that young actor acknowledging what Carlivati has given him to play.

LOL..
Jean and Shelly are the soap Wrecking Balls …
reading their writing bios tells it like it is with them.
however; Shelly is better than Jean, by far. That helps 🙂

All these new great stories are Ron’s, his new direction for GH…
he is leaving J&S with great foresight/direction to follow.

Lol. New headwriters do NOT follow the material of a writer who brought record lows, embarrassment, and near cancellation to a show. They quickly and boldly forge a new path! As evidenced by their swift, merciful wrap up of the thoroughly predictable Silas murder. If thats how they plan to deal with the mess that Ron left them, then I am already a fan!!!

Soap wrecking balls – LMAO!

I have to agree – I think ABC bungled this whole writer change – from the way they just dumped Carlivati and not so subtley blamed everything wrong with the show on him to the way they announced Shelly/Jean as the second coming.

When the show tanks even further and people bitch even more and many of the favorites that Ron brought back disappear and plot lines are dropped, ABC will pretend nothing is wrong or blame Ron for leaving Shelly/Jean with such a mess.

From my experience watching their work on soaps in the past, they are serviceable writers at best. Nothing exciting or thrilling is going to come from these two.

If ABC is never going to learn to NOT hire the same old hacks, it will be their fault when GH tanks.

I fully support Bryan’s right to block anyone who attacks him or his family, however, there are PLENTY of witnesses who saw and will substantiate, that neither he, nor ANY member of his family were tagged (their twitter handles were not used) in the tweets in question. He and his family deliberately and intentionally sought out his name and/or his character’s name, and ingratiated themselves into a conversation that fans were having. The fans were taken aback, but responded to the tweets in question and the situation escalated, and resulted in Bryan threatening a fan with bodily harm.

He and his family put themselves into this situation and clearly were not anticipating the results. They have NO RIGHT to cry “Victim!!” when they were the ones looking to see what was being said. They initiated the argument, rather than blocking the tweets or simply ignoring them.

Please. How dare you attack this fine young man. You must be one of the trolls badgering him. Get a life.
P

Girl, get over yourself. Clutch your pearls over something that actually matters.

Yep, we are trolls and you sound like a relative. This fine young man has a picture on his twitter account of him and his fiance holding up the name of a fan’s twitter id and each of them are sticking up their middle fingers at her. If you don’t want to see negative comments, don’t go looking for them. Show some class and ignore them when you do see them. Angry fans stop watching the show. Ratings go down and the show goes off the air.

Bryan’s family was not attacked–please do not get your knickers in an uproar over nothing. He over reacted to a joke–and a harmless joke at that. His mother also over reacted. If one is such a tenderfoot and thin skinned, one should stay off Twitter. If you cannot take the heat and all that…I mean, come on, really? Bryan, his girlfriend who played Britt, would rather use Twitter to sell their toxic skin care line which appears to be a part of a pyramid skin, er, I mean, scheme.

I’ve never tweeted nor attacked him. Merely explained the facts about what happened. Thanks for playin, tho.

Do you know him personally? Please, give us the chance to speak our minds. It is our right. Threats that were made are a million times worse than an opinion and criticism. …..with all due respect, respect that right.

So that there are no misunderstandings, my short comment was directed at p.
….the longer one at No1—I love Lucy fan.

It’s all ugly, but at least Bryan acknowledged his mistakes. Wonder how many social media trolls or negative commenters ever do, or care about the emotional damage they can cause.

twitter;
twitter- is a mean, dangerous, harmful, harsh and out of controll with crazy people..
People, not all people, with real life mental problems use it to vent their craziness.
Nobody, again nobody, gets out unscathed.
If I were in the public eye I would not have a twitter and subject myself to mentally unstable people… LOL
(Roger doesn’t tweet, he is very intelligent 🙂
hey! some people are actually sane and tweet according..

Tweeter; enter at your own risk .. lol

One more thing–Bryan’s mother is not doing him any favors waging war on behalf of her son. She is still doing it today and it just makes him look like a Momma’s Boy. He needs to put a gag order on Mom.

Please. There are posters on THIS site who insult actors all the time…from their age, their height, to their weight and exposed cleavage. Can you imagine if any of actors and /or his/her family got on here and started threatening posters?

I don’t like the personal insults…which is why I usually jump in and defend the actor…whether it be Nancy Graham whom I admire…or Laura Wright and her “Amazonian” size as one of our regulars likes to point out…or actors “too old” to have sexual relationships.

People are nasty and hide behind their computers…and think it’s okay to rip other people apart. One poster here told me I better not disagree with her comments directly because her family…parents, husband…didn’t like it. She ended with, “get it?”

I found it pathetically amusing that a family would be upset that their anonymous family member was having repeated debates with another anonymous poster so much so that she “warned me” to not address her comments. But I digress. People can pick people apart on these public sites. They do it all the time. It’s not right, it’s not nice, but it’s a fact. Brian and his parents threatened…physically threatened the poster. That’s waaaaaay out of line. You don’t threaten anyone. Period.

I would think Bryan acknowledged his mistake because he is in the public eye and needs to safeguard his livelihood. I am sure he was ‘nudged’ to do so. That is a standard for all celebrities. They make a faux-pas and then apologize….so typical, Rose. I am beginning to think Bryan’s personality is what he shows as Morgan. Temperamental and immature. I do hope I am wrong. Hot-headedness gets us nowhere.

The offensive tweets with personal insults had the #GH hashtag and were posted while the show aired. That is designed to reach the widest audience of fans. To suggest this was a subtweet conversation or appropriate is 1. dishonest and 2. embarrassing to other GH fans.
I like Bryan. He is very young and playing a tough story. I wish him every good thing.

I’ve never watched GH, nor do I intend to, I was merely letting people know the truth about what happened. Have a nice life, though

No1_ILoveLucyFan…wow, your comment ignited a bit of a conversation. Without putting blame on anyone, why don’t we just agree this incident, twitter, and the whatever’s for some, can get out of control. Hope everyone involved learned big lessons, and maybe the rest of us can be reminded to take the high ground when commenting. And not just fall back on their right to voice their sometimes hurtful opinions. They don’t help anyone except maybe the brief euphoria the anouymous commenter gets when they push send.

Always the voice of reason, Rose. I truly respect your diplomacy. ‘I love Lucy fan’ merely posted an incident and offered an opinion. She/he has that right. I answered her/him, but my post did not make it. I was applauding her /his comment.
Yes, her/his post did fan the flames, which is always a good thing. Except that some posters cannot leave other posters alone….constantly talking about the same thing. I will not be policed by a nonentity guarding my opinions about the characters on any soap. No one died and made this poster guardian of the gated, hallowed halls that houses our freedoms. This is the U.S. Of A where, last time I looked, my civil rights were still en vogue…FREEDOM OF SPEECH!!!!! Do we speak of characters or actors, Rose? I do respect my elders, but there’s an ocean of a difference between critiquing and threatening. No one on our soap-sites has ever threatened anyone….so the ‘revival’ of an incident which took place ( rightfully so by myself) over a year ago, is moot to this conversation. I do not lose sleep over it. I will not be chastised by anyone except those in authority, and for good reason. Some people should just let it go…WOW! You know what I mean, Rose? If some of these characters do not want the criticism, then they should stay within the circle/real of convention. Critiquing a character is not personal….but constantly ‘picking on’ a particular poster(s) is! Over and over and over….
Now, the thing is, it will not surprise me if this comment is not posted. I’ll bet my Lamborghini on it!

It never ceases to amaze me how people cannot move on…over a soap? Let it go…talk about a chip on one’s shoulder!

hi CeeCee,,
“moving-on”
Tupac Shakur
“You can spend minutes, hours, days, weeks, or even months over-analyzing a situation; trying to put the pieces together, justifying what could’ve, would’ve happened… or you can just leave the pieces on the floor and move the fuck on.”
― Tupac Shakur

You bet, my friend. Best words.
Some people are under the impression they can do no wrong, or moan and groan about fellow-posters. Cry me a river, right? We are all mortals…imperfect.
Without fail, there’s always that same old reference….I pass right through. How many times, and in how many different ways can someone say the same thing? Enough already. Someone has crowned herself defender and hero(ine) of characters.
” Show me a hero and I’ll write you a tragedy”. It is the only explanation behind the constant sing-song….well, more like a tirade.

Take your own advice!!!!

Once again, a perfectly harmless, defending-oneself-type of comment has vanished. How democratic is this site? I guess some posters are so privileged, they get away with saying anything insulting, twist facts and spin his/her own web. I say, ……Is that fair, Mr Fairman?

To be clear, there is defending a character which is different than defending an actor. The subject here is defending an actor
who feels he was insulted since the subject is BRYAN being insulted by a fan…in that vein, when you insult “Alexis’s cleavage or sagging breasts…you’re insulting Nancy Graham ‘s body…claiming Alexis is too old to want sex with her BF at “her age” again, that’s Nancy’s age, Carly for being an “amazon” that’s Laura Wright’s body, Morgan for going bald…that’s Bryan’s hair. Etc, etc…any if Comments like these are no less judgemental or insulting here than they would be on Twitter. As I said NO ONE should have a right to threaten anyone over them. However, everyone has feelings and some actors do read the boards. If you reverse it and someone said your mom was too big, too old, your son was balding, so abd so’s mom should cover up het aging, sagging books…talk about not letting a subject die…most if these comments are repeated over and over on the GH thread…by a select few…or two. No one’s defending the fictional character…just tired of the continuous, nasty same old’ same ol… however one has the right to…and shouldn’t be threatened.

I hear you, CeeCee! My own perfectly civilized rebuttal was also discarded. It’s so rich….we’re not the ones who consistently throw these verbal temper tantrums and instigate the same old unpleasant personal grievances—again and again– yet we’re moderated when it comes to defending ourselves. There is definitely a strong bias showing here. Why one single, self-important malcontent should be permitted to assume the role of arbiter in what is allowed and not allowed to be discussed here is beyond me.

@Shay.
It’s ok, Shay. I just lost another response to you…oh, well. !!!!!

@Dylan.
Hi, Dylan.
I do take my own advice. But, this has been going on for over a year. Out of the blue, very insulting posts just pop up. I have never been one to take insults lying down when specifically directed my way. My parents taught me otherwise. But, thanks for caring, Dylan. Good night.

Cee Cee …re: Bryan acknowledging his mistake. I’ve also read and heard interviews that when some actors have these really intense scenes, respect Ally went they last more than a few days, they can take the “mood” home with them, and not be fit to be around.

Ithink Bryan mentioned how intense both he and Maurice were finding them, especially Maurice since he was having to re-live some of the worse times from his real life.

Maybe that played into Bryan’s knee jerk reaction to the Twitter thing. But it sure doesn’t explain what we’ve heard about his more mature parents…except perhaps their ill-advised protective nature towards their son. Best they all keep away from social media, period. As a parent I would have to, or the “reasonable” you credit me with at times might go right out the window.

Also can you imagine what social media if it had been around like today would have done to Tom Cruise when he was jumping on the sofa on Oprah’s show? Not sure you saw/ heard about it. But it almost killed his career when he was at the top of his game. And he was a seasoned pro. I saw that show and my jaw dropped.

Let’s just call it a learning moment (hopefully), and move on.

Cee Cee..iPad correction….”when some actors have these really intense scenes, especially when they last more than a few days.” Excuse some other typos.

Agree Dylan!

This was an excellent interview. It gave great insight into Bryan as both an actor and a person. He has done a superb job on the show from day one and has two Emmy nominations to show for it. And I wouldn’t be surprised to see him get a third one next year. I’m looking forward to seeing how the bi polar storyline plays out and enjoying some more stellar performances from Bryan. And I congratulate Bryan on his engagement and wish him and Kelly all the best. And I hope when their special day happens they will share photos of their wedding with their fans.

I agree Debbie. I like Bryan. He seems like a very nice and intelligent guy. I like him and Kelly together too. They make a great couple. I don’t agree with, or like, some of the things he’s done as Morgan (mainly drugging Michael) but that’s not him personally. Being a mother of grown children myself, I can also sympathize with his Mom being so upset about the things that people are saying to her son. Yes, he’s a grown man but he will always be her child and she will not want to see him in pain no matter how old he is. I completely understand both of their reactions to the very crazy, negative comments about him on twitter.

Michael, you need to do more research. That is not how the Twitter incident went down. The poster was on their own timeline when they posted a negative comment about Bryan. The comment was NEVER @’d to Bryan or his family. His family was trolling social media looking for any comments about him and saw it. They instigated the entire thing. People ought to be free to tweet critique in their own timeline. His family drew first blood by berating the poster.
Regardless, Bryan behaved like an immature punk who threatened to track down and break the poster’s bones. In any other job they’d have been fired and Bryan should be as well.

Scoma60..
It was apologised for..
And not brought up so as not to start something and to leave it behind.(hint hint)

Suoo, the poster in question is someone you’d probably like–he’s a great defender of Ron’s (well, he is now anyway–he doesn’t feel he should have been fired).
He didn’t write or post anything horrible–he just made a joke about Craig’s acting. It was not below the belt at all and he’s a big boy–he ought to act like it.
I am now so utterly turned off of Bryan Craig that even if his acting has improved I will be so jaded against him I won’t see it.
Really, he and his family’s behavior on Twitter was embarrassing and beyond the pale. I wonder if there is Family Therapy Groupond available for them?

people on twitter are trolls and yeah actors DO read hashtags on themselves. You want to blame his parents for “trolling” around on there? How about people just not act like immature scumbags behind a computer screen? I dare any of those trolls to say sh*t like that to the actors face. Social media is a ruination of America and if I were actors on any show, I wouldn’t make myself available to fans. Mystery goes along way.

Ces, I saw the Tweet and it was rather harmless and funny.
What in tarnation are Bryan’s folks doing trolling someone else’s Twitter page?

ces..,you don’t have to go to Twitter to read nasty comments…just read some of the posters comment here. It’s all insulting and I don’t like it which I posted above. Still doesn’t give ANYzoznE a right to threaten someone. I like Bryan Craig the actor. I think he’s done an amazing job since he stepped foot in Port Charles. Still, he and his parents were way out of line threatening a poster who criticized him. C’mon. Immature, tacky, volatile….

Feel much the same about social media. But there is also the yin and yan of it.

Being an active participant of any age can put you at risk, especially if you are stupid or naive enough about how you interact within it.

Then again…social media can help stage great response on social issues that need a lot a attention and signatures to get noticed…my recent one the international outrage on killing Cecil the lion.

And in a weird way another good/bad thing…we can’t hide our heads in the sand anymore because it has exposed and given a forum to such perverseness, darkness, unhappiness, and negativity that I personally didn’t know existed. Just wish there weren’t so many guns available for the very worse of these.

Boy, did I get carried away.

You certainly are right, Ces. I do not think most lay people would speak that way face to face. But, when on the soap sites, the field is open. We are specifically asked in the introduction to speak minds with our opinions. We speak of the characters, and how the writers sometimes put them in such precarious situations. Sex is great, it’s wonderful, at any age, I would think. But, when used and abused by people in their sixties, it just does not ring true. These characters allow themselves to be in these scenes….I do not blame the actress….she needs the job. But, I do blame the writers. Ms Grahn’s cleavage is the subject of ridicule. She is too well endowed. Not her fault…God-given. Unfortunately, those of us who are cursed with larger mammary glands suffer in our older years. It is called drooping!… LOL. It is not a pretty sight. She is older than my mom, about the same size….the difference is, my mother does not bare her wares. Nancy has the power to control what she wears…look at Finola…look at Deidra…Carly, even; and, she’s so much younger.
I am assuming Twitter is different, I do not know.
But, I trust you, Ces. Your wise words always ring true to me.

They instigated the entire thing?

That just is not the case and everyone knows it,

Bryan Craig has grown a great deal as an actor since his debut on General Hospital, and it’s been a pleasure to watch.

I can’t comment on his social media problems because I don’t know the details, but no one deserves personal attacks even if they are public figures. If incidents like this keep happening, then fewer actors will connect with fans using those outlets, and that’s a shame for the people who don’t abuse their use of sites like Twitter or Facebook.

A great interview, thanks Michael..
Ron Carlivati has been giving us character oriented stories as some had wanted..
Morgan and Sonny== this story is dynamite.
Ron has not written Morgans bipolar as Y&R Sharon’s bipolar..
With an actual person/Maurice who suffers with bipolarism to be working with Bryan is very good.
I was not keen on a bipolar story after seeing Sharon’s craziness Y&R stuff but RC’s bipolar is going in a different direction than craziness it is more true revealing.
After knowing about Maurice and Bryan putting heart and soul into Rons bipolar story it very touching.
As Bryn said.. ”” As I said, I hope Shelly and Jean continue with what Ron left off with, and in my opinion, right now that’s pretty damn good.”’ .. I hope so too..

I can see how Sonny being shot/dying could greatly affect Morgan.
Sonny being near death will bring the Corinthos family together, a great family story, the Chorinthoes uniting..
The Corinthos are a core family, the largest family, it will be good.
(and also give a lot of action from the whodunit mystery shooting of Sonny)

Ron’s bipolar story written in this direction is good.
And- his bringing a family’ together to deal with bipolarism and near losing their father will bring great family character stories. RC came back with his A-Game.

I luv this Sonny. RC has written a softer more of a family man Sonny and yet a gangster; prime stories, awesome material.
Hope Jean and Shelly can do as well.

It’s too bad some writers can only make a “great” family drama that brings them together (Corinthos), or a character builder (Morgan), or a whodunit mystery (Silas/Sonny), or get rid of a character (Silas, Connie, AJ, Carlos), or put a character on hold until their stories can move forward (Hayden/Stonecold) by frequently shooting and/or killing them…don’t you think?

I don’t call this great story-telling, just a lazy, uncreative, gimmick that RC overused far too often

hi Rose..
It is indeed great story telling..
as for characters being killed-off, set aside, that has been done since day one, it is the way of the soaps to kill them off for drama…
sending them to Antarctica isn’t drama and soaps are drama. Actors being let go or leaving want the kill-off story..
And- all soaps use gimmicks, they are need.

This story is awesome, intense and gonna rock.. 🙂

Su..This is when you and I see things through waaaay different eyes. Not all soaps kill off characters with guns when not needed as much as GH. This isn’t great drama to me. Nor do I want The Godfather, or the stories you hear too often in real life when things are settled with guns. Just the opposite when this seems to be the major, cop out way to “write” a character off lately. Or double kill Ava…they could have just pushed her off the bridge. Not “awesome, etc.” like it is for you.

And I don’t give a rats a** if the “actors want the kill-off story”as you say they do. Not sure about that, or their leverage in the decision. Even Tony didn’t take, or they didn’t give him, that final way out. Plus you never know when you want a character back in the future. So what’s wrong with Antarctica, or walking away into the mist?

hi Rose,,
actors do like the kill-off because it gives them a great exit, memorable ..
example
Silas/Michael, his kill-off gave him great material, a power send off.

GH is mainly about 2 mob families and for decades has had guns, knives, and bombs. It is what GH is .. GH is great for shoot-off LOL and the peer is magic it can resurrect the dead LOL ..
that is what makes them fantasy, not mimicking real life.
GH has shootings and that is what makes it special 🙂 for GH to have characters shot-ff is logical , that is how mobsters/bad people die.
Live by the gun die by the gun, thing..

and, Soap characters never die, that is the magic of soaps ..

Tony’s exit, I’d bet he wanted to go out in blazing flames! I also believe that is what he is really pizzed over his out in a whimper exit, not in bang..

(out in bang not a whimper is the way most to go out.. ..

Su…I would venture to say no actor wants to be killed off…unless perhaps a series is ending or they seriously want off a show. Yes, Tony Geary said in his interview he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory…that blaze could be like Robin, Lucky, Frank Smith, Duke..(the first time), and yes, they and others were resurrected. But staying alive and center is both their craft and income…most actors attached to a job,
fellow castmates, their story and character…don’t want to be let go in the hope that one year his-her character might be brought back. Michael Eastman moved his family from NY to LA for GH. He let it be known he was very upset when OLTL was canceled…and it was difficult saying goodbye to his character John McBaine…was very happy going over to GH and being John once again. Then he was vocal about how difficult it was losing the character once again and play Silas. He was well aware the character wasn’t given a fair shake…his relationship with Sam abruptly dismantled…and he was never center stage. Still, he said, he tried to make it work with the very little airtime he was given. He didn’t want to “go out in a blaze of glory.” He was shocked and very upset they killed off his character…very upset. As were his castmates and many fans. There was a petition of over 12000 signatures to bring Michael back. So no, actors don’t like being killed off…or losing their jobs.

I’ve watched GH since it began. There have been a few not so great story lines, but more goo than bad . For a while not sure where things were going. Now all is going where it should be, and the acting is A-1 especially between Morgan and Sonny and Michael. With Sonny being shot , Carly will be a wreck, and like you said: that’s when Michael will get a lot closer to his dad.. I love where all the story lines are going. Bryan will have a long road ahead as well as Sonny. I have have a granddaughter who is Bipolar, and it takes a lot loving, caring, and patience. Good luck with the show and with Kelly. I will be watching and enjoying the show. Thank you for playing Morgan, don’t let anyone take your place. Thanks to all the actors who have made GH, in the past until now and the one who have passed, may they R.I.P. THANK YOU!.

hi Terri..
I agree with you.
A really right on supporting nice post, thanks 🙂

Some still need reminding…..Sonny is not Michael’s dad. Kidnapping a child and keeping him through force, violence, threats, and murder does not a father make. There are those horrible true life stories about children who are kidnapped, and raised by some psycho for years and years until they finally escape!! Thats what happened with Michael. Carly handpicked three fathers for her son…the first was her mother’s husband, the second was a brain damaged murderer, and the third is a greasy misogynistic violent mob boss. AJ was Michael’s dad. He was a flawed human being who only ever tried to better his life and be a better man for his son. Unlike any of the others, who wont change their violent disgusting ways for anyone!!!!

Hi Dylan…Totally agree with you regarding Michael’s forgiving Sonny. To a large extent I like Sonny and would miss the character if they wrote him off. He’s been pivotal to Port Charles for years and has had relationships…good or bad ..with almost everyone in town. He was f
Good to Lila, Emily, Stione…he loves with a ferocity and I usually find his story compelling.

With that said I’ve also hated him with a vengeance because of his inhumanity toward Aj. I literally screamed at the screen each time he put him down, denigrated him…was disgusted how he stole…emotionally…Michaek from AJ, bad mouthed him…belittled him at every turn. When he killed him I was awash in despair for my fictional misunderstood AJQ.

In that same vein, I was THRiLLED when Michael finally gave AJ a chance and a bond developed..a father/son live. When Michael turned his back on Sonny ANd Carly it was a long time in the making; it just got better and better when he took his rightful last name and named his baby sister after AJ.

So, it was with complete disgust when I heard the dialog out of Maxi’s mouth as she explained To Sabrina Michael’s love for Sonny.myhat wasn’t bad enough…she had to question why michael would prevent care so much implying AJ was a piece if work and Michael barely knew him. Stupid writing..,undoing the Justice AJ finally got, the recognition from Michael that his bio dad wanted him and fought for him…the writers reverted to putting Azj down once again.

Unfortunately, thrpey did find a plausible way for Michael to go back into Sonny’s folds. All three, Sonny (who will probably be paralyzed) Carly and Morgan who will be enraged, will all need him. AJ will once again fade to black…

@Dylan….In response to your post near the bottom of the page, I’d like to share a few thoughts: With all due respect, before automatically assuming that either CeeCee or I are the instigators responsible for promoting discord on this specific thread—or previous ones, for that matter—please allow me to enlighten you, as well as any other posters who are inconvenienced and/or perplexed by the all-too-frequent unpleasant fits of pique to which we’ve all been subjected. What you have sadly witnessed is an ongoing campaign of antagonism imposed—and directed—by a sole disgruntled person at both CeeCee and me. It has been a regular feature at this website for over a year now, basically because this one poster vehemently disagrees with us, thinks their will and opinions superior to ours, and therefore, must supersede them at every opportunity. In other words, we have been repeatedly demeaned and taken to task for expressing ourselves in a manner considered unpleasing to them, and the message would seem to be unless we cease and desist in our own styles of discussion, then this harassment will not stop. Understand, there has been no personally sent back and forth postings going on here for this duration….this individual is non-persona grata to us…we have tried our mightiest to avoid them, yet, their animosity-laced comments specifically aimed at us continue to materialize not only online, but in our personal inboxes, too. I’m sure you, or any other regular at this website, wouldn’t appreciate or wish to experience this behavior if it were you in our shoes. Hence, whilst these intermittent, erratic episodes can often be embarrassing and unnecessary, they are not in any way, shape or form, invited by either CeeCee or me. We have tried to put a halt to them, and requested as much on repeated occasions, but the party in question will not be ignored or abated. Quite simply put, this one-woman crusade against us—and our views—is utterly absurd and totally uncalled for, but beyond failing to participate with the vast majority of otherwise lovely and polite contributors here, there seems to be no solution to this ongoing problem, and I suspect that is the actual goal of this perpetrator….to drive us away. Since CeeCee and I are both made of stern stuff, that has yet to happen, and I certainly hope it never does. You see, in case you are not entirely familiar with us, I will tell you that we are two–amongst numerous others, to be sure–of the most fun, outgoing, and welcoming contributors here at MFSoaps….if you take to us, we will most certainly take to you….the more the merrier! (FYI-In fact, I have personally responded to you quite a few times, even if most of those remarks failed to post.) Accordingly, I feel very sorry that all of you kind, wonderful people have been made privy to this repetitious nonsense….I would truly love for it to simply go away, once and for all, so that we could get back to just enjoying each other’s interesting, unique and often, witty, perspectives on all things regarding “the soaps.” However, that’s not my call….At any rate, I really hope that not only do you receive this message, but that it posts for ALL to see, and most importantly, that it is the last one I ever need write to clarify the history of—and finally put an end to—this completely ridiculous situation. Again, my apologies that this ludicrous spectacle has become so publicly apparent…..the bottom line is that there are no acceptable excuses or reasons for these intolerable antics to continue. Thanks for hearing me out, Dylan! Later.

My two-week break from GH is over. I didn’t miss it at all. I want Kelly Thiebaud to return to GH as “Britt.”

I agree, Charday! Britt was one of the few RC-created newbies that I could really adore, and even now her absence is glaring. At the very least, she is due for another visit to Port Charles to see her BFF Brad and ever-loving Mutter! Having said that, whilst I miss KT’s unique beauty gracing the GH canvas, I’m sadly not surprised at her latest questionable Twitter antics with her fiancé. I recall reading some of her own tweets some time back, and they were quite profane…even including the “mf” word, and no, I don’t mean “Michael Fairman!” (I found that very sad coming from such a gorgeous girl!)

I think it was George Clooney who once said in an interview about being a celebrity that it was vital to remember, you never as good as they say you are and you are never as bad as they say you are. I think if you’re going to engage in social media that should be anyone’s mantra. This young man is just that a young man, but his recent performances have given us a glimpse into the potential he has to grow into a great actor, as long as he doesn’t develop too much of an ego, focuses on his craft and not the reviews, he should have a long productive career ahead of him.

I think he’s a great actor but his acting partner, the actress who plays Kiki, is unfortunately not up to his level.

I don’t know anything about the twitter war but I have to admit I really started to not care for him personally after seeing a clip of a recent fan event when Maurice Bernard was celebrating Carlavati leaving and Bryan was there egging him on while Chad Duell looked embarrassed.

He seems a little more contrite about Carlavati now. I hope he learned his lesson because the writer did do well by his character.

Oh really? Maurice Benard was unhappy with what Carlivati wrote for him?

Why does that not surprise me?

I’m not sure I’ll ever recover fully from the Sonny-overdosing of the JFP-Guza years and enjoy Sonny again (as I once did, long ago), but I did at least find Sonny more bearable while Carlivati was writing the show. It was acknowledged, finally, that he might not be perfect, and possibly not Father of the Century. It was probably as close as we’ll ever get, on GH, to confronting the fact that he’s a mobster and that involves danger, destruction and (at a minimum) dysfunction.

Sonny wasn’t the center of the show every day, and he wasn’t written as a total hero to all of Port Charles. And apparently MB didn’t like it. Well, well, well.

I agree. The “Sonny Show” was what made me stop watching GH. I only came back when OLTL was cancelled. I think Ron Carlivati made Sonny bearable and Maurice Benard owes him a big Thank You. Ridiculous!

agree I quit watching during the sonny/mob years, its better now. sonny is only bearable when hes nicer under RC writing hope he doesntgo back to mobby sonny now that RC is gone .and bryan should grow that hair back out its not a good look for him when ya can see his scalp.

If you crawl in the. Sewer calledTwitter with the rats do not be too surprised if you get bit.

That’s it–Kay nails it.

Thank you K/Kay. You just reinforced the reason why I will never join Twitter!

@Harry @ CeeCee I never understood why people want to talk about their personal life to the whole world always thought that was a little narcissistic and dangerous. I mean do we really care what someone had for lunch or what they did in the bedroom totally weird and then insult strangers do not get it I would also sat using Twitter to talk to actors borders on stalking.

And vice/versa!

Wish I had bet you for your Lamborghini you mentioned on the previous post. Yes it can be frustrating at times to see some of the posts. But as an aside I quit commenting on Huff Post. A lot of their commenters, depending on the story, can be brutal and insensitive compared to even a bad-hair-day commenter on MF. So I hope we can continue to keep it mostly civilized on MF.

I guess where you and I can differ sometimes is to the degree some commenters offer negative comments on a character, by saying it’s not the actor but the character, and it’s just their opinion. But the character is also played by an actor…who is a human being with feelings…who has worked hard to make their role work because they are professionals.

At the same time commenters should be able to offer constructive criticism or disappointments in story lines and how actors are used. Maybe the trick is just how they say it. And eventually if the networks don’t get it, the ratings will let them know…hopefully.

So I try to be reasonable as you mentioned…life experience has helped, and “I’ve always been perfect” …Ha Ha! And I notice you make a point to be positive to a lot of commenters about their remarks. 🙂

Touche’@k/kay! I’m so with you on the “oversharing” on Twitter, and even often, Facebook. I’ve overcome the frequent temptation to join both for that very reason….some things should just remain privy to one’s nearest and dearest, and even though it would be a huge kick to reconnect with many far-flung friends from the past, I’m just not willing to sacrifice what precious little privacy we still have in this world to do so.

Hello, Girl.
Do you find some posters (one) hypocritical? Some people do exactly what they are accusing others of doing. I am being stoned, again. HaHa.
We touched on the subject of Facebook and Twitter a year ago, remember? I said it was dangerous to indulge in such a waste of time. We do exchange harmless info here. We don’t even pay our bill online…. I keep warning my seventeen-year-old sister to stay off both…but, you know teen-agers. Ciao, bella….a bientot.

Hi Rose…I like your posts…your perspective. Here again we agree. I, too, stated in one of my comments on this post that insulting a “character’s” age or physical appearance was in essence insulting the actor…the human being. I make bets all the time, with myself, lol, that the comments will continue. I’ve won over and over!

Bryan Craig is one of the best young actors in daytime. Looking forward to the bi-polar storyline on the GH canvas. Hate to see Ron leave. Not sure that the new retread writers will be able to resurrect the show’s ratings but maybe they can. Congrats on the engagement to the hot Kelly (ex Britt). Can GH bring her back please?

Bryan has arrived into the great acting category..
When he gets good material he can bring it home.
I also like that Bryan and Maurice and talking about how the bipolarism works making it real. Both are putting their heart & soul into the story to give us factual emotions.

Lol, su. Let’s not get carried away. Bryan is coming along. That is as far as I will go for now. I was impressed by only one scene….father and son. I believed the acting. It had drama, emotion, love….powerful stuff. The scene moved me.
Morgan started as a snotty-nosed, spoiled brat….stayed that way forever until last week. I do hope he maintains this positive stride.
Are we sure Morgan has bipolar disorder? I bet, my friend, that, due to Sonny’s shooting, the infamous visit with Dr Collins will probably be postponed, yes?

Emotions are not factual. Thats what makes them emotions and not facts.

I liked Brian Craig from day one. He is a great actor and has come a long way on GH. Wish Kelly would come back to GH.

I hate twitter and shut that down awhile ago. Horrible how this guy was attacked on there and i know it happened often.

Tweeter is a free for all of hate and attack..
Twitter is a format for mentally unstable trolls and or mentally unstable people.
They go to twitter to dump their hate. To act out. To let their crazy out ..lol
There is nobody to account to on twitter,,
((The sane people are targets lol

also– there are many intelligent, stable, nice tweets, also. There are rational tweeters.

He was NOT attacked!

Oh, pardon me, nasty Tweeters just said nasty things about him. You’re right, not attacked …… why so defensive?

I hope he really does feel that way about Ron. I am surprised at his comments because he seemed to support Maurice Bernard’s speech about the writer at GHFCW. THAT, was upsetting. It is true that this was Ron Carlivati’s long story for Morgan so Bryan does owe him.

I am enjoying his bipolar storyline and think he’s done some mighty fine work and hope this story continues to be satisfying.

I think a family member is still setting up Twitter accounts to troll. He really needs to get a handle on it. His people have to learn to not engage before the damage is irreparable.

I have been blown away by Bryan Craigs acting ability and always welcomed him as Morgan. I think he is right re: the KiKi character being stagnant story wise. I DO like Hayley Erins KiKi best. I think they need to give her a story that is all hers say alcholism, drugs, depression, etc…she can shine then. GH has so many great actors…Roger Howarth, Michelle Stafford, Laura
Wright, Dominic Z., Billy Miller, Rebecca Budig, ALL of them so no matter what story lines they get, they make it work. I have watched since 1974, seen a lot of crazy story lines but it is always entertaining!

So true!! Love GH…the good and sometimes bad…and I do think Kiki (Hayley) will shine given the right material just as Morgan has!!

Relatively speaking I’m a newbie with Twitter. But yes it isn’t for the faint of heart. I’ve not been personally attacked but I’ve seen some of the nasty and evil tweets from certain stans.
In regards to Bryan i didn’t see it as an attack. My mom always said that if you go looking for trouble its bound to find you… I don’t know if what happened is grounds for him being fired. With that said I’ve seen people fired for less. But that is not my call to make.
For the current bipolar s/l i refuse to watch it as I’ve lived this life being the daughter of someone with this disease. I’ve lived the mood swings and darkness and some self pity. It’s a soap so they will use it to justify a means in this i mean plot but i won’t be watching.

Great interview. I think Bryan has done an excellent job, and has really improved as an actor from when he first started on the show. I know others have expressed differently, but my mom suffers from bipolar disorder, and I know she appreciates them telling the story in a realistic way. It’s an illness that not a lot of people understand, so to give a small glimpse into what it’s all about, I think that’s nothing but a positive thing.

As far as all this Twitter garbage. I think Twitter was one of the worst inventions ever created. It’s spawned this generation of keyboard tough guys, that think they can say anything they want to whomever they want, and they never have to answer for it, because they can just hide behind their keyboards. The people that live on it 24/7 need to get a life. And that includes people in my own life, who seemingly can’t go 5 minutes without reporting to me what this person, or that person said on Twitter. My response is the same every time, go tell someone that cares.

Bryan would be better off following the lead of people like Roger Howarth, Tony Geary, Billy Miller, and so many other actors that aren’t on Twitter. They’re people like me that would actually rather sit down and have a conversation with someone face to face, actual human interaction. What a novel concept!

I think craig is doing a super job like him since the beginning I never saw any nexative remarks this bipolar right now is great acting

Very good article. I like Bryan and thing he’s doing a great job.

Thank God there’s a good reason for that haircut. I was really concerned about Brian’s choice of hairstylist!

Bryan is fantastic! I’ve liked him from the start and thought he had the acting chops to go up against Maurice and Laura and Maura; really, anyone. Kudos to him.

Bryan came on as the doapy son who had a gambling problem and he played that well–kinda doapy and out of it. Since then he has played his other story lines well. I dont understand how fans can attack him for playing what was written. Now he is killing it as bipolar.
I think he is one of the best actors on GH. There are others I can’t say the same thing for. Just because he is kind of the new guy, don’t attack him.
As to him or his mother on social media, I had a similiar situation with a family member in the entertainment industry and when someone is attacked like that it is hard as a parent to resist getting into the fray. So I’d cut them both some slack, maybe not their best move, but I can relate and understand. You F…… with my kids and you will get a reaction. But, of course, since they are in the public limelight they have to resist this reaction.

This was a great interview. I have been a fan of the character of Morgan since Bryan has played him. I am looking forward to seeing what’s ahead for the character as he comes to terms with being bi-polar. The scenes with Bryan and Maurice have been phenomenal. I’m thankful for this story line, as it’s a subject that people tip toe around. Bravo to these actors and to the writers for bringing light to this subject.

Found it interesting why he shaved his hair off. Don’t know much about bi-polar, but I can see how shaving it off fit right into the episodes he was having.

Well, it is said that bipolar disorder does manifest itself by acts of rebellion. Shaving one’s head is considered as such an act, if nothing else. Better this than an act of violence, I say!!

hey CeeCee,,
I wish bipolar Sharon of Y&R would have shaved her her ..ahahaa!!!
I’d pay to see that ..(shame on me lol)

Ron’s bipolarism story (start of) seems to be realistic orientated ..
Hope Jean & Shelly don’t do to Morgan as they did with Sharon..

@su0000.
I know. Poor Sharon. I wonder what they are planning for her. A bald Sharon? Hmmmm. All that gorgeous hair! LOL.
If Morgan is, indeed bipolar, I agree with Harry. The writers cannot just tell a story for the sake of telling a story. I hope TPTB will do both Maurice, who suffers from it, and the disorder itself, justice. There is a lot of story to be told here. It would be such an opportunity to explore the disorder all the way through and reach a happy medium for Morgan. I hope these ladies will finish what has been put in motion. But, with Sonny ‘indisposed’ …..what direction will it take?

Well, all I can say, Rose, is I’m glad there was an actual method to Morgan’s hair “madness,” because it certainly delivered the desired effect! LOL.

Like I said we see GH waaaaay differently. First of all it wasn’t, and isn’t mainly about two mob families. Maybe that’s one of the reasons Ron isn’t there anymore because he brought too much of that element into GH at the expense of what GH has been known for…a little more fun, real romance, adventure, family, intrigue and even the evil, charismatic Cassidine’s.

You know, I was going to write more but what’s the point. It’s the mob, guns, shootings and killings that seem to interest you most anyway.

As as for Michael/Silas wanting to be killed off, I never read anything about him saying that. But I do remember how disillusioned and sad he seemed about how ABC and GH cut him loose.

Love GH and the family of GH. Didn’t like the Ava /Denise portion although Maura is terrific . Morgan has really developed into a great character. Maurice can never leave and I look forward to the fall. Oh, one more thing. I hope Lulu and Dante stay together. I think Ron has left a great story line to work with going forward!! Every show has it’s up’s and down’s. GH is coming on strong. Hurry up Hayden and give Nicholas a run for his money!!! I just love everyone!!

Marilyn,,
Ron is on the credits as head writers of these stories..
And I hope when the new writers put their stuff up that during the next 6 months they can do as well, I doubt it.. but…………….

My neighbor said Ron'[s now writing is like when he was writing for OLTL; family, romance couples and still intrude..

Bryan is doing a great job with this story line showing some real acting chops and I hope they develop his character more with this Bipolar this Fall. Congrats on their engagement really miss her on the show. Hoping things will get back to less extremes on the show hopefully the new writers will get back to the GH we all have loved forever. Keep up the good work Bryan…like the good Jason better than killer Jason

Bryan is doing a great job on GH. I’m so sick of the professional twitter trolls that I barely even go on anymore. These people have no life but to try to start trouble. I hope Bryan and the rest of the GH actors just blocks them all. I have.

Lots of insight coming from this young man who is doing an awesome job in a very challenging role. Keep up the great work, Bryan!

I think Bryan is doing a great job as Morgan. I don’t understand all the negativity towards him. He has had some crap thrown at him like sleeping with Denise and not knowing it’s Ava but he played it well. However I will not be buying whatever product he and Kelly are trying to sell. Doesn’t Steve Burton sell some stuff too? ” Ooh I’ll buy it ’cause Jason (Morgan , Britt) is selling it.” No.

I am sorry but from what I have seen of the material Bryan is out of his league. .Kill , kill, kill. GMAB. Doesn’t matter who is writing. If its All evil, all mob all the unholy three I do what I have done before Just shut the show off. I have and I will not watch. everybody loves Sonny ,except me. I hate characters who kill for money. Michael, Anna Patrick have all turned up brain dead.

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
