Holy Julexis! GH's Julian Contemplates Murdering His Wife!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

Carrrrlos is back (Jeffrey Vincent Parise)! This time the deceased criminal is torturing the mind of Julian Jerome (William deVry), and that is not a good thing for Julian’s wife, Alexis (Nancy Lee Grahn).

After being arrested for Carlos’ murder, Alexis spends a night in jail, but after posting bail she comes home.  Her husband, the guilty party, did not step forward, but instead let his wife still take the rap.  As Julian has visions of Carlos, who is egging him on to protect himself, Carlos implores Julian to take out his wife!  No, not out to a restaurant, to take her out as in kill her.  That way, there is no one that can pin Carlos’ murder on Julian.  Kudos to William deVry for making Julian’s plight intriguing.

But will Julian actually go through it and try to end his wife’s life? If he doesn’t, how on earth will he get out of the mess he is in?  Will he just let Alexis go to prison for a crime she didn’t commit?

After the jump, watch a preview of Monday’s GH and then weigh-in on what you thnk will happen next! (Note:  fans have already seen in thelatest GH summer promo that Alexis is in a bathtub and Julian looks rather angry behind her!)

Ugh!!! I hate this!

Although I have a feeling he’s gonna call the hit but then save her (he’s supposed to be in the hospital coming up)

Re Mon.’s show: WHY would Alexis drink the tea Julian fixed (well, she did drink the KOOL-AID, so to speak, didn’t she? She “swallowed” his act!)

Maybe something in the tea caused her almost 60-year-old womb to re-juvinate itself. Are the writers for real? I don’t care if it’s a soap. It is absolutely ridiculous. If Nina’s wanting a baby isn’t out-of-this-world- enough. MAMMA MIA!!!!!!!
How many of us suspected Alexis was pregnant yestersay when she was sick? I bet many of us did. My sister and zi looked at each other, thinking the same thing.
I feel like SCREAMING. GIMME A BREAK!!!! Now I’ve heard everything. Did she conceive by devine intervention? With the help of the Holy Ghost!!!! Oh, Lordy Lord, help us!!

That should read: my sister and I.

And now Alexis is PREGNANT? GMAB! Now they’ve REALLY, REALLY JUMPED THE SHARK! Next in line: I suppose Monica and Tracy will discover they are also pregnant!

And “Grandma” Leslie will call Laura and tell her not to grieve over Nikolas’ disappearance–that she’s having a baby–a little sister for Laura–LOL!

Hate this! I don’t understand why GH would ruin one of their best couples with such an ugly, violent story. The sudden 180 they did with Julian the last few months (with no explanation for his change) is bad enough. But now this? The worst. I loved Julian & Alexis. Watching the writers toss away their romance, family (why I watch soaps) to showcase violence proves the writers are totally out of tune with what I want to see.

This!!!

I agree, Rissa. God forbid we can have a mature, happy couple on the show. It seems Julian (suddenly) not only puts himself ahead of Alexis, but Ava and the Mob rate higher also. Stupid man and stupid writers!

Mature? Happy?
All they did was have sex a few times. Then get married.
Honestly, even with the best results of this writing team it just falls SO short of its potential. No matter the character, the plot, the gimmick. I think my expectations based on what this show once was are finally starting to wear me out.

……ahh, Rissa!! This is done to make Sonny look the hero. Not that I am a fan of of this couple (Alexis and Julian)….never was! But, I detest Sonny even more.
TPTB are trying to erase Sonny’s murderous image from our minds…..’tis a trick. ‘Ain’t gonna’ work for me…..a vulture is a vulture is a vulture.

Well said Rissa! This is what the current writing team is giving us! Ugh!

I will NEVER forget the sleeze that is Sonny. I will always remember that before anything he was a pimp who manipulated Karen Wexler Cates.

@Ghlover.
If today’s episode was any indication, my friend, somehow; someway, Sonny will save Alexis and the day. No surprise if it goes down that way.
But, as much as I abhor Julian, I am not so sure he will go through with it. On the other hand, desperate situations call for desperate measures.
Needless to say, if TPTB are inclined to having Julian try to kill Alexis, it is done for the expressed reason of making Sonny the hero.

I agree. I’m sooooo done with the mob stuff.

They could have pivoted to anything other than the mob stuff but noooooo it’s mob mob mob. I agree with Celia, this is about making the always insufferable Sonny a gold plated hero.

These storylines just draaag ooooonnnnn. It’s been a year of bipolar Morgan. Makes me remember with great unhappiness the year plus Jason wandered around not knowing he was Jason. If you’re going to bore the audience with Captain Obvious stories, can we be quick about it?

There is NO mob..
There has not been an actual mob since Guzza..
We have two men, in a feud, to take each other down..
It is between the two… no mob anywhere just the two men.
Sonny and Julian’s war is between the 2, no mob involved.

where people see a mob or mob stuff would be they are still stuck in the 80-90’s because there is no stuff mob, just two old farts wanting to take each other out, no big deal.

I think we have to remember this is a soap…soapy DRAMA that used to take forever to play out. Soaps used to be soooooooo drawn out that you could miss six months in a row and catch up in an episode! Morgan’s story, Jadon’s story, Nina’s story..as much as soaps are exaggerated and “out there”, it wouldn’t be realistic to rush, bi-polar, amnesia, a woman returning to society after a a 20-year coma…I think the slower pace for these stories are needed and make them more credible. It’s not as if we watch these characters stories every day; while the aforementioned three were missing for a day other two or even a week, the show centers around other characters and THEIR stories. they’re not devised to wrap up in a few days or weeks. Before soaps were an endangered species, as I mentioned stories used to drag out much longer. I think the pacing and the focus on different characters moves and transitions rather smoothly.

Suoo, I do not know why you persist in maintaining that there are no mobs on GH. You’re just plainwrong. Sure, each head writer has a different take on the life of a mobster but none of the head writers subsequent to Guza have taken the mob storyline off the canvas.
Do you not remember Sonny killing off his mobster rival in his restaurant during a meeting of the heads of various families? That was about six months ago. Just please stop stating that there are no mobsters on GH because it’s simply not true and everyone knows it.

Wow, if that is the “best ” couple, I’d like to see the worst!

The character of Julian has never felt right to me.
He has always been out for himself, and I never bought
into this great love affair with Alexis. I hope he gets what’s coming
to him.

Me too. I think he’s scum!

I agree with you both!

Thank you, ladies. Julian’s outward demeanor with Alexis was a facade. A wolf in sheep’s clothing. …just like Sonny, who, by the by, is on vacation from raising havoc, for now. When will he strike again?

Obviously, from this interview, not if these writers have anything to do with it! Sadly.

Whatever, both will come out alive and well.
Neither are leaving GH, so Alexis will not be killed and Julian will not go to prison .

The only good part is Carlos/(Jeffrey Vincent Parise. He is great!

GH has become very predictable and lame ..
It is terribly anticlimactic and drama free ..

Your preaching to the choir As I have said these writers suck. Someone said they are going back to watching the old soaps for their drama fix.

Yes, how great was it when Carlos reappeared to haunt Julian! A perfect reminder of the loss of (another) terrific actor so we can bring on more blonde bombshells for more love triangles. Maybe Carlos has a twin so that J.V.P. can return, ala Michael Easton.

Ain’t that the truth, SuzieQ.

Yes Yes…please more Carlos! Or just more from this actor. He is amazing and its unfortunate his character was such a sleaze because this actor has more charisma in his little finger than all the actors on this show put together. Except for maybe Roger Howarth.

@tatiana.
Well, tatiana, Vincent would have to return as another character. He has run his course, in my opinion.

Still agree with you re Vincent Parisi–now THERE’s a character that could play Shapespeare!

Iago.

Julian-who looks like he has been to the greasy-hair-club for mobsters….is angry when he finds Alexis making out in the bathtub with the tidy bowl man-lol

That’s not his hair. Ha, Jimmy!

This is getting bad and DARK.

But, honestly, I love julexis still lol still rooting for them. He won’t really hurt her IMO

But, the pairing of the two is hurting me! LOL!

No he won’t hurt her but the writing of Julian over the last few months is little more than character assassination. There is nothing to root for.

Lol, Sam. It’s about the mob…..dark, dark, and more dark.

I never cared for Julian, mob or not. Alexis can do so much better. GH needs Jeffrey Vincent Parise, as indicated in his several post death appearances. Whether his departure was his choice or GH’s…it was the wrong choice. Actually he’d be better with Alexis than Julian. That would be a crazy, hot and funny relationship for sure!

I loved having Carlos back but am hating this story. I was never a big Julexis fan but the complete turnaround they’ve done with the character is jolting. The writing and plotting is soooo heavy handed. We can handle nuance. You don’t have to hit us over the head with Julian’s return to the dark side — in fact in some ways a much darker side than he had during his original run.

Btw, with this episode, when Carly hypocritically criticized Sabrina for getting Michael to take care of her child, I officially started fast forwarding through any scene with Carly and Sonny. I will make an exception for when Ajax comes back, but otherwise I am done with this couple.

Darn autocorrect! Jax. Not Ajax!

That’s okay, Melissa. Ajax is a Greek hero….And, he’s stronger than dirt. LOL.
Yeah, Carly and Sonny, the all American Mom and Dad, are nauseating.

I want to stuff morally superior Carly into a vast of anything and lock down a lid. She really has zero room to talk. Other than Elizabeth, who else tells her to tuck it in? Even Alexis… now written as the dumbest of doormats doesn’t challenge the insufferable Carly.

“Insufferable”–I like that adjective–very descriptive of Carly and S0 many other characters on the show. Aren’t we supposed to like SOME of the characters? Isn’t that what good drama is all about. Audience identification with SOME of the characters.

@Melissa….Yep, Carly is the ultimate hypocrite and an insufferable one to boot, but I have to say it was an absolute delight for someone, anyone, to finally give “St. Sabs” the business…..this coddled character is one of the most utterly useless creatures to ever hit Port Charles, and every time there is a perfect out to get rid of her, the showrunners bring her back like a bad penny. The writers have bent over backwards to contrive a place and purpose for this weepy, annoying, insipid parasite, and no matter what she does, everyone acts like she’s the berries. This is a character who slept with a cold-blooded killer, then tried to pass off his child as another man’s for her own comfort and convenience….it was beyond the pale. Then she had the nerve to dump said infant on the doorstep of the wealthiest family in Port Charles…..her unmitigated gall has no limits. For once, I agree with both Carly and Sonny….there is no way that Sabs is good enough for their Mikey, and neither is her Carrrrrrr-LOS!-issued spawn….they both need to leave town for good, and the sooner, the better!!!!!

Looks like I’ll be in the minority again. I find this riveting, especially since I can’t remember a mob guy potentially letting his wife take the rap for murder on the soaps and even contemplating killing her to remove anyone who can testify against him. Can’t wait to see how it plays out, although I do understand people liking Alexis and Julian together.

The story is one of the better efforts of our illustrious writers. I do not want Alexis to stay with Julian. She can do better even if it means no man in her life. Run, Alexis!

Ditto to that!

Up until today I have found it riveting. Alexis toting her phone around and putting it on record – with an icon of a big mike encompassing the screen as she leaves it in full sight of Julian during any and every potential conversation is just so ridiculous and lame that it has honestly detracted from the enjoyment I was having with the story.

Always knew Julian was evil. Good to see him back to his old self. Alexis needs to dump him. Can’t stand them together.

I guess my suspicion was right….I wrote as much yesterday, on the June 19th board. I just knew where the weasel’s evil, twisted thoughts were going. I won’t bore you guys by repeating myself….but, yeah…..this is proof of Julian’s true love. He knows not the meaning…..a coward, an egotist and and the worst kind of fiend…..”et tu, Brute?”; JULIUS CAESAR.

Julian is a weasel hope Anna kills him!

Nancy is a great actress. Although I liked Alexis and Julian as a couple, it really was out of character for Julian.

General Hospital twists itself into a pretzel when it tries to portray its mob members as multi-dimensional characters. It never seems to learn that this is a fruitless and pointless exercise because being involved in organized crime by definition makes you a BAD person. Despite the desperate attempts by the writers to portray Julian, Sonny, et al as multi-layered, conflicted characters who you love to hate, they are constantly tripping over the basic premise that these characters are ultimately defined by their choice to make their livelihood on the very wrong side of the law. This basic and blatant fact undermines all story attempts to present them in situations of moral conflict. At least we know where the character of Sonny is rooted. Julian, not so much and Paul, after all this time, not at all. The actor is great but the show has told so many conflicting stories about him that I don’t know what the essence of the character is meant to be. Therefore, I never know what his true motivations are and I lose interest as a result. Much the same can be said of the Franco character, although he has been written in a more nuanced fashion and has the advantage of being portrayed by the masterful Roger Howarth. Thinking about it a bit, Nikolas has been put into this same leaky boat. These characters have no defined moral baseline. They meander and mutate for no discernible reasons. This does not represent complexity and make them compelling. It makes them inconsistent and confusing and represents only poor writing.

I like Richard Burgi (Paul) but I agree with your general assessment.

I like him too. He, like most of the great actors on GH, makes the most of the material he’s given.

@ Mister Media
Perfectly said!!!!!!
I sooo agree!!!

How wonderful are you, Mister Media?
Not as logically and structurally delineated as you have depicted these guys; I did try, in my own haphazard way, to impart the same thing, many times. This ‘uplifting’ of Sonny’s (the criminally inclined Nabob), code of moral ethics , is laughable.
As I keep repeating ad nauseam, it does not work for me. I am pretty focused when it comes to defining Sonny, Julian, Ava and their ilk.
I could not have described Paul Hornsby’s ‘nature’, if you will, as you have. This character is an enigma. I cannot dislike him or like him. I cannot dismiss him, in any way. He is a man of many colors; a clown and a turncoat.
Nonetheless, I had a good laugh yesterday when he was lecturing Anna about her date, Dr. Sawyer.
I found the writing extremely witty, and Richard delivered the line flawlessly…..”……About this Huckleberry guy you’re seeing…..”. Then Anna said, ” Sawyer, it’s Sawyer”. …..or something to that effect. This is a time when I can honestly say, (not my usual choice of expression) LMAO!!!!!
Once in a while, Mister Media, all seriousness aside…..I do get a kick out of this character. Then again, I have a quirky sense of humor.

I really like Richard Burgi and I enjoy his character, despite the fact that he is, as you say, an enigma. GH has the best cast in daytime. I only ever criticize it because I want it to thrive and persevere in excellence. As many have said, it needs to cut the bloated cast and focus on telling a few well thought out stories at a time. Long live GH!!

Well said!

Great and accurate analysis–beautiful said! Kudos!

YES! What he said. 🙂 100% agree.

The writers and FV need to get a clue as to how their “fast paced” style is truly ruining what used to be compelling about GH. There is just no way to develop a character of any sort when they can’t use detail or nuance for anything.

Because they try to substitute with shock and contradiction. And it just muddies everything up because the layers haven’t been built.

In complete agreement with you, Elizabeth. The ‘shock’ treatment is passé. …..which only makes me passive not jolted with interest. ‘Tis a new world, and these old gimmicks do not work in the 21st Century.
So, ‘they’ resort to the absurd which begs derision and mockery.
There could have been so many other ways of making Julian cave. I feel badly for Alexis because all these shenanigans make her look like a dunce.
Alexis knows he went to CRIMSON. Why not interrogate Nina? As an astute and experienced attorney/people person, she must suspect something.
Not that my word means anything, but Alexis should be given the opportunity and respect to pair her ( in time) with someone who is her equal in integrity, intelligence and honesty.

and– Decades will once again run the 3 day marathon, soon.

Thank you!!! I hope to find the channel!

We KNEW who those characters were! 🙂

The trouble with the character Julian was he was brought on the show to be this ruthless criminal hell bent on getting his revenge on Sonny. Then the actor became somewhat popular and so in order to keep him around they soften up the character. He wasn’t the man behind Sonny’s down fall- Fluke was. He was given a past with Alexis, was made Sam’s and Lucas’s father- gave bone marrow to save Danny– every once in while they threw in some evil deed otherwise why else would Sonny and Anna hate him so much. It was this treatment of Julian that makes him a weak character..

Past writers killed Julian off for a reason and as much as I like the actor, I think it is time for the character to go bye bye again and this time stay dead. I rather see the show create a strong Eliot Ness type of character who tries to bring Sonny down.

So don’t waste my time having Julian think about killing Alexis, if he is ruthless and cowardly enough to kill her, it is time for his character to end. If he is a misunderstood man trying to break free of the mob then let him be that, this back and forth is pointless and annoying.

Great comment, Mary. Right on!!
Furthermore, if I may…..and, I am aware I will be kicked in the arse for saying it…..But, what’s up with Anna? She is so consumed by her ideologically misplaced fealty to Duke. As she is, Anna’s actions hold no fascination for me. I would have found a storyline centered upon AJ as a much more justified act of revenge by Monica.
But, Anna is just so drunk with anything Julian that she is blind to what Sonny is and represents…..Do not buy her mettle to nab the guy who put a hit on Duke. For what?….for a lost, subliminal love? Anna is infatuated with a notion.
This ridiculousness has gone over the wall and bounced off a million and one times. So booooring!!
She would swim the seven seas, trample through the Badlands and cross the Sahara to avenge her criminal boyfriend’s death?
Anna is now rubbing shoulders with Sonny, the worst criminal of all, who is now her pal. What hypocrisy. Bah!!
Hey, I get it….Sonny must be exalted. He’s the good guy…NOT!!!!

Couldn’t agree more with your sentiments and those of others who talk about how GH has whiplashed characters back and forth between bad and good. Julian, Nicholas, Paul. Who are they and what do they stand for? Their moral compasses keep shifting. They’ve turned Julian so hard to the dark side that it’s hard to see him coming back from this. If I were WdV I’d start looking for another job. He’s a good actor so I hope he lands somewhere.

It is like watching caricatures, Melissa; not characters. Sometimes good; sometimes bad, as you say. I am getting whiplash watching them, back and forth…..like a pendulum. Either get whiplash or fall asleep from the swaying.

My sentiments also–Bye, bye, Julian–NOT glad I “knew” you!

I’m fearful of what the writers are going to try to do with Julian. As many have said before, this turn-about has been too swift. It’s jarring. And now he’s having thoughts about killing Alexis? What?! I fear that TPTB may try to force us to swallow some lame twin or impostor or brain tumor reasoning for this garbage.

It’s difficult to root for anyone when each character is presented as so horribly flawed. The GH writers need to clean up their character descriptions. People are always flawed but not to the extent where they’re killing other people, kidnapping, stealing babies, or constantly forgetting their sins as they act all self-righteous. This story with Julian seems to be just another example of the writers manipulating the characters to fit into their story lines instead of having the s/l’s organically grow from character descriptions. It needs to stop.

Rodd, well stated: “Another example of the writers manipulating the characters to fit into their story lines instead of having the s/ls organically grown from character descriptions.” Still think the writers could benefit from that 001 writing class on character development and dramatic structure. NO, NO, NO–not ready for Shakespeare classes yet!

Am I truly supposed to care about this? Truly?

OK, I like Alexis, always have. After all she’s been through with Helena, etc., she certainly doesn’t deserve to die.

But, excuse me, she married a mobster. She knew he was a mobster when she married him. Mobsters kill people. It’s what they do. (Hey, I see a Geico commercial here!)

Nobody deserves to die at the hands of Julian or Sonny or any other mobster (and I doubt Alexis will–especially given that having her go on trial for the murder opens up so much dramatic potential; she can’t die, not this early on, anyway), but if he did kill Alexis, she couldn’t really blame anybody but herself. How much sympathy am I really expected to drum up for that, and how much interest am I expected to have in any of it? I suppose it’s all “very dramatic” etc., but when the premise is tainted to begin with, and I can’t muster up much sympathy, I think it falls flat. I also suppose it was possible to have written this storyline in a way that might have sustained interest, but that hasn’t happened.

What various writing/producing teams have done to Alexis through the years is pretty criminal. (It started, as far as I’m concerned, when she slept with Sonny.) I hate the message that smart women (she’s a top-notch lawyer, so she’s no dummy) totally abandon their brains when a handsome man makes them swoon—can’t they swoon but still retain their brain cells? It strikes me as insulting to believe they can’t. (I accept, at some level, that it’s the flip-side of “otherwise-smart men who can’t keep it in their pants around beautiful, manipulative women,” but that’s never been a favorite theme of mine, either.) The only thing that has continued to make Alexis work as a character is NLG; I hope TPTB appreciate what a talent it takes to do that, given how ridiculously the character is written.

I keep hearing about how these writers “write stories of the heart”; I guess for them, heart and brain are mutually exclusive. Well, I disagree–vehemently. (Don’t even get me started on whatever it is that’s supposed to be going on between Liz and Franco. I can’t even bear to think of it.)

Agreed, “pretty criminal” what the writers have done to the character of Alexis.
Re Liz and Franco–get me a barf bag, ASAP!

Oh, I hear ‘ya’, nancy. I could feel my stomach heave when Franco kissed Liz….and, she let him. My insides rebelled the same way when Victor Newman and Meredith kiss. They keep doing it….I turned away…yet, I caught a glimpse.
As my toddler would say, YUCKY!

Originally Alexis was a smart, fun character who had the misfortune of being on Helena’s revenge radar. I can live with the Sonny mis-step, if she had learned something from it. But what really gets me upset is why writers of all soaps seem to like to destroy stronger women ( like Anna, or “bi**h them up, or steal someone else’s love interest and leave us with wimpy guys) and then put the likes of Sonny and Victor as their main characters. What’s wrong with having at least some stories with a moral center? And with GH, when I see it’s women writers, it makes me even more upset. It’s not like some men having to compensate for whatevers. And most certainly not the wonderful guys who comment on MF.

I was just reading the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest which has comments from GH writers Shelly Altman and Jean Passanante. A few things jumped out at me. Altman talked about the scenes in which Julian was confronted by Carlos’ apparition and explained that Carlos is really “Julian’s conscience”. I feel compelled to explain that one’s conscience is not that which goads you into committing murder. It is, in fact, just the opposite. Passanante then says of the story, “It’s like Hamlet”. It takes a special sort of delusional self-aggrandizing to compare this to Shakespeare! Ultimately Altman says that Julexis fans should “absolutely not” give up hope, adding that, “we see their relationship as a long story” and that their road “may have many bumps along the way”. In other words, what we are now seeing will ultimately be of no consequence whatsoever. This is just filing up time. This is not a plot twist, it’s a plot contrivance and it will not matter in the long run. In other words, it will mirror exactly Carly and Sonny’s relationship in that both women involved will eventually overlook and indeed forgive the atrocities they once found unacceptable. The story where Carly had what seemed to be a sincere crisis of conscience and change of heart about Sonny and married good guy Jax was tremendous. She even sent Morgan away to protect him from Sonny’s world after Michael was shot. Her character had a metamorphosis that was compelling and believable. That was dismantled of course and she now has occasional twinges of mild discomfort but is totally devoted to her husband like never before. These story lines do not portray romance; they portray dysfunction and speak to the profound underlying emotional and psychological histories of the women involved. Exploring THAT would make for great storytelling.

I agree. Carly talked Jax into keeping Nicks baby. She is no better then Sonny, or coerced filing papers Alexis. The women mentioned are as disgusting as the men. They each run around on a high horse.
The show now has no good guys .or gals. Even Anna has no right to talk.
TIIC are all full of themselves ,and they have no idea what they are doing. Having Sonny call anyone out for the exact same things he has done. Killing in cold blood ? I guess if I watched , it would be good for a laugh. You can’t take any of them seriously .

“Many bumps in the road,” eh? 100 to zero in a nanseceond–“love” to contemplating murder, eh? So THAT’S what defines a “relationship”? “Julexis fans should not give up hope,” eh?
This “NOT” fan is not giving up hope for the end of this so-called relationship! And I’m wondering who could be a fan of this twisted, masochistic, sick “relationship”??

“Shakespeare,” eh? They couldn’t hold his cape–not even stand in the “pit” with the groundlings! And getting on stage–HAH–I wouldn’t try it! Tomatoes and other vegetables coming their way–LOL!
“Like Hamlet,” eh? If they think Hamlet was indecisive–they should look in the mirror! Maybe the writers need to go back and take “Shakespearean Drama 001,” you think? And maybe they could study character development and the classic 5-act structure while they’re at it. Hey, couldn’t hurt!

“It’s like Hamlet”–well, minus the plausibility, the complex and compelling psychological explication, the well-defined characters, the dramatic tension, and the beauty of the words and the language.

Other than that, yeah, sure, it’s JUST like Hamlet, Jean. I TOTALLY see the comparison. Totally.

So the current headwriters see (another) marriage to a mobster as being “for the long run.” Carly and Sonny weren’t enough; we have to have Julian and Alexis as well. Because, absolutely, marriages to mobsters are, like, TOTALLY viable over the long run. Amiright? It’s just another occupation your husband can have. Some people marry doctors, some people marry auto mechanics, Alexis and Carly marry mobsters. Sure, they’ll have their problems just like any other married couple–their husbands will murder people, their husbands will let them take the blame for the murders, their husbands will try to kill them–but hey, that’s married life, right? Til death (and death, and death, and death, and death, and death) do us part!

Is it any wonder this show is as far off track as it seems to be lately?

First of all what little I have seen of this pairing it is not romance just slamming each other against the wall reminds me of animals mating. Second real tired of the lets make Sonny perfect old news ! Does anyone believe MB as a mobster I think he is a abusive to women short man syndrome character!

Hmmmm. Short-man-syndrome. I wonder if Sonny drives a big-arsed car, Kay.

@k/kay….My oft-used description of Alexis and Julian’s constant “activities” was “like pigs in heat!” Seems soooo very appropriate, and since you are by your own admission familiar with farm life, I needn’t expound upon that notion, eh, k/kay???? By the way, congratulations on your new equine pal….it’s wonderful to hear of nice people enjoying the good things in life. I’ve been taking a little break from posting here, but have continued to read others’ musings, and yours are consistently interesting and entertaining….keep it up, “Girl!”

I don’t think 46 year old William Devry is an “old fart.” If u want to watch a show where onlt people under 30 have a life, you’re watching the wrong genre. For that matter, ir’s simply amazing that “old fart” Tony Soprano and his associates managed to garner ratings. I

LOL ikr? I love Alexis and Julian together

And thankfully, TPTB don’t seem to think that love/romance/sex stops at 30; we have numerous characters on GH who are well past that age and still have love lives (and lives in general, even if far too many of those lives involve the mob for my taste).

I suspect there’s marketing research—because they don’t do anything without that—that tells them that most younger viewers (the ones TPTB actually care about) aren’t all that interested in a show that involves only teens and twenty-somethings. (Anecdotally, I can remember that when I was a teen/twenty-something watching soaps, I didn’t care all that much about the younger characters; I could see those stories playing out among my peers. The older characters offered me a chance to see what kinds of things life throws at you when you get older and start thinking about what kind of adult I wanted to be, and that was, for me at least, fascinating. Today’s young people are certainly different in many ways from those of us who grew up a while ago, but I have to believe that fundamentally they’re the same.)

unfortunately Michael (not Fairman) the opposite is true, at least on this site. I was the lone ranger out here for over a year defending sex in mid life…there were consistant views by some younger viewers that it wasn’t realistic for Alexis to be do sexual at “her age”. And I’m not talking about viewers who felt Julian and Alexis had a relationship just based on sex snd their attraction, but viewers who repeatedly scoffed and proclaimed that women Alexis’s age don’t want sex, or at least to that degree and passion. I argued constantly, trying to explain passion, lust, sex doesn’t die at 40, 50 and beyond…it became my “crusade”…to no avail…You can see by comments such as the one several up about “two old farts” that views on characters ovsr 40 are seen as “old” by people not of that age yet. I suspect fheir views will change when they are.
As for giving Alexis such a realistic sex life with Julian, I think it was a conscious effort to bring soaps out of the dark ages and start realistically portraying women over a cerfain age as attractive, sexual people, as opposed to only focusing on sex in younger years and older couples just hugging with an affectionate peck thrown in for good measure, lol. Hopefully daytime will catch up to real life…

If he actually tries to hurt her, that would be unforgivable and I’d want his character gone. I don’t think they could redeem him. I would miss Julexis, tho – I liked them!

If only.

SOUNDS good to me !!!! I haven’t liked Alexis since she filed bogus papers to take Michael from his father, and give him to Scummy. Then turnaround and tell Scummy he is NOT the father of Kristina. hypocrite much ?

Nancy Lee Grahn’s Star-Studded ALS Fundraiser Reveals “I’ll Be There” Video Featuring Soap Opera Notables

Talk about your impressive line-up! It’s a soap fans dream and for a great cause. General Hospital’s Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) is prepping her one-night only ALS fundraiser which will feature many of her friends and co-stars.

The benefit is set for May 4th in Glendale, California. Slated to participate are Genie Francis, Jane Elliot, Peter Bergman, Maurice Benard, Eileen Davidson, Thorsten Kaye, Michelle Stafford, Stephen Nichols, Rena Sofer, Jason Thompson, Kelly Monaco, Melissa Claire Egan, Maura West, Kristina Wagner, Gregory Harrison, Trevor St. John, Kate Mansi, Kirsten Storms, Cynthia Watros, and many others.

On Wednesday, Grahn took to her social media and released an “I’ll be there” video shout-out featuring, Monaco, Elliot, Bergman, Bernard, West, Harrison, St. John and more. In a touching and important moment in the new video, Michelle Strogny, who is battling ALS, is featured.

Previously, in speaking with Soap Opera Digest on the impetus of the event, Grahn recalled, “I was actually doing Zoom events during Covid and I met this woman that I just fell in love with, Michelle Strojny. At the time, Michelle had been living with ALS for four years. Now, it’s five years. She is a mom of a teenage son, she has the most wonderful husband, and she has been dealing with this [disease] for quite a while. And obviously, there isn’t a cure yet. It’s not survivable yet. But as she says, it’s not incurable. Nothing is; it’s underfunded. But anyway, I just really dug this woman. She is so grounded and filled with grace, and she spends all of her time working to raise money for the cause. We did a fundraiser for her last year and then I thought, ‘You know what? The soaps don’t ever get together to do something for charity.’ Collectively, we have this amazing community and we don’t collectively use it for a good cause, and I think it’s such an easy thing for us to do and we could potentially really make a difference.”

As GH viewers know, Gregory Harrison is playing the character of Gregory Chase, who is also battling ALS in a touching storyline that is currently playing out shedding a light on this disease.

‘General Hospital’ Writer Shannon Peace Let Go, and Shares on Sprina: “One of My Only Regrets is to Not Have the Opportunity to Develop That ‘Ship’ Further”

As General Hospital’s new head writing team of Elizabeth Korte and Patrick Mulcahy gets off the ground and running, there are still changes a foot on the writing team.

Now comes word via breakdown writer Shannon Peace that she is no longer on contract with the long-running ABC soap heading into its 61st season. Peace shared a heartfelt message on her Instagram, thanking the fans, and the show for the opportunity and the importance of diversity in the writers room.

Peace began, “After almost 3 years on staff and 106 episodes penned, I am no longer on contract with General Hospital. Writing for this country’s longest running television serial drama has been an education of epic proportions; I will forever be grateful that I earned my WGA card on a daytime fixture that holds memories for so many.” (Peace pictured below with GH EP Frank Valentini and script writer, Charlotte Gibson from about ten months ago).

Shannon added “Even more importantly, as the sole Black breakdown writer (and only POC in the writers room) during my tenure, I pushed for vital interactions and discussions that prioritized inclusion, visibility, and representation”

The writer pointed to the example of vital interaction when in story, “Stella and Portia’s frank July 2022 conversation about the role race played in Esme’s framing of Trina is just one example of the impact I’m gratified to have had.”

Acknowledging former GH co-head writers was also part of Peace’s farewell expressing, “Appreciation to my former bosses, Chris Van Etten and Dan O’Connor – not only taking a chance on me, but for valuing my opinion and championing my voice.”

Many GH fans know that Peace was key to the development of the love story between Trina Robinson and Spencer Cassadine as played by Tabyana Ali and Nicholas Chavez. Shannon gave a special shout-out to ‘Sprina’ fans, “I also want to thank fans who were supportive of my work, especially the recognition of my love for ‘Sprina’. One of my only regrets is not having to develop that ‘ship’ further.”

She concludes her statement with,”In the aftermath of a historic writer’s strike that shed new light on the troubling ways writers are regarded in daytime, my sincere hope is that General Hospital recommits to valuing staff writer efforts and input, with a more intentional focus on diverse viewpoints — and thrives for another 60 years.”

Accompanying her post, Shannon added, “Thank you all for the love and support these last few years. I hope GH fans get all they hope for and more!”

So, what do you think about GH not renewing Shannon’s contract? Will there be more continued changes afoot? What do you think is the future of ‘Sprina’ anyway at this point as viewers wait to see if Nicholas Chavez officially returns to the show?  Comment below.

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Jason Learns Britt Died and Tells Anna He Has Been Working For Cates Since November 2021

On the Tuesday, March 26th of General Hospital, Anna (Finola Hughes) and the viewers learn about where Jason (Steve Burton) has been for over two and half years. However, Jason gets some news of his own.

Anna is visiting Jason at the PCPD interrogation room. She asks him if he shot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), which he flatly denies. Anna believes him, but she tells Jason it doesn’t matter, because video footage shows him on the roof at the time of the shooting

When talk turns to Jason not willing to speak without his lawyer present, Anna can’t grasp why Jason would instead spend an hour alone talking with John Cates (Adam J. Harrington).

Photo: ABC

It is then that Anna brings up that John went by “Jagger” and that the two of them knew each other in high school. Jason doesn’t recall much of his time in high school following his brain injury, but then he gets furious realizing John knew about “Jason’s” past. That is when Jason slams the table and tells Anna, “I’ve been working for John Cates since November 2021.”

Next, Jason explains further that he has been working as an informant for the FBI. Anna wants to know how this came about and he tells her that after the tunnel collapsed, and he couldn’t make it to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud)… all of a sudden he sees Anna’s face drop.  Anna is the first person to tell him that Britt died and was murdered. She tells Jason the killer is in custody, but he continues to be shocked, overwhelmed with tears welling up in his eyes. Realizing he has to pivot to save his life, Jason continues telling Anna how he wound up working with John.

Jason explains that after the tunnel collapse in Greece, FBI agents grabbed him and placed him under arrest and took him to Quantico where he met John. At Quantico, John played a recording of RICO violations and offered Jason a deal if he agreed to be an informant against Pikeman, the illegal arms dealer.

Anna hears from Jason that he thinks Pikeman is selling illegal arms to anyone flagged by the NSA but has ties to the WSB which they needed a civilian to infiltrate their organization as a military soldier, a mercenary.

Jason tells Anna he was a part of the team brought into eliminate Sonny (Maurice Benard). Every time an attempt was made on Sonny’s life over the last two years, a different team was sent to do the job. Anna gets furious when she learns that John told Jason his job was to kill Sonny and she was with John at the warehouse that night. Jason ensured the sniper missed Sonny and left the rifle behind. However, they were supposed to meet an extraction team. Before he was shot, Dante saw it was Jason on the roof and when he turned around with his hands over his head, Dante was shot by the other guy. Jason says if Dante dies, he’ll be charged with capital murder and then will be useless to the FBI.

Meanwhile, John visits Bobbie’s and runs into Carly (Laura Wright). She learns Jason is in custody and is going to head to the PCPD. Before she does, Carly has some words with Cates when she learns not only does John have a vendetta against Sonny, but Jason too.  Carly tells John he should recuse himself from the case.

So, what did you think about the moment when Jason learned Britt died? What do you think of Jason’s return storyline thus far and what we learned about Jagger/Jason and more? Comment below. But first, check out a moment from today’s GH with Jason and Anna.
