Days Of Our Lives

Is Bryan Dattilo finally on his way back to Days of our Lives?

So could this finally be the right time for fan favorite Bryan Dattilo (Lucas) to return to the Salem fold?  For all intent and purposes it would seem the timing couldn’t be better, as over the next several months the Horton family be dealing with Will’s (Chandler Massey) coming out, as the character tries to come to terms with this within himself.

It would be interesting to see how the writers decide to write the character of Lucas in this scenario and his reaction to the news that his son, Will, is  gay. Would Lucas be the supportive dad, or the homophobe?

In any case, Soap Opera Digest is reporting that Datillo was spotted earlier this week at the set of Days of our Lives at NBC Studios!

So let us know if you would be excited for a Lucas return? And if so, how would you like to see him deal with his son’s sexuality?

I would love to have him back! Hes is one of my all time favorite characters. It would be even better if it gave us a Lumi reunion!!

i would love to have him back and i would hope that the writers write lucas as a supportive father of his son become who he really is . I think the writers need to ask Bryan how he thinks the character should respond to his sons comming out also i would love if johnny turns out to be lucas’s

If the character of Lucas returns I hope it’s only for a short time to support his son. Or better still, just call.

I’m DYING for Lucas to come back to DAYS, and there is absolutely no better time than with this storyline. Lucas’s presence is essential right now, they can’t tell this story properly without his perspective. He would NOT be a homophobe though, never. He would be very supportive of his son and his sexuality.

If true, I would be SO happy to see him return! It’s been a long, long wait, I can’t wait for the confirmation. He is so needed in Salem.

DAYS has been so dark for the month of November especially the last couple of weeks. Hearing the news of Bryan’s possible return is like a ray of sunlight. There was never a character needed on any show more than Bryan is needed on DAYS right now. People need a reason to watch, a reason to care about the show since the writers are making it known that they really don’t care that much what the fans want or are interested in. I know I have never been so discouraged in DAYS in my life as I am right now. Bryan’s return will help so much!!

I think he’s needed for the Will storyline and that’s about it. Maybe he’ll bring a bride back from Hong Kong instead of rehashing Lucas/Sami version 348.

I would be delighted to have him back. I love Bryan, I love Lucas, and frankly Sami only seems to be tolerable with Lucas by her side, but I’m not opposed to him having a romantic storyline outside of Sami, I think it’s about time that someone other than Sami shows some true love for Lucas. I think it’ll be great if for the FIRST time Days treats this fan favorite and someone who’s been so loyal to Days with some respect and gives him the storyline that Lucas deserves. If the rumor is true that he is back or in his way back then I’d definitely be excited!

Lucas Horton will be a supportive dad, I would love for Lucas to have a new woman in his life, someone to help him and love him and his kids.
Im just sooooooo HAPPY he is on his way back to Salem. 🙂

I like Lucas and think it would be great to have him back to be supportive of Will. Just keep him away from Sami because she belongs with EJ.

I would love to see Lucas return!! And even better, it would be great to see him reunite with Sami. Sami and BoringRafe have zero chemistry. I’m so hoping they break up & having Lucas around would be perfect timing! I hope Lucas is supportive of Will. I can’t say I am happy about this storyline, but Lucas’ presence would make it more enjoyable.

You’re kidding, right? Days has needed Lucas back for a long while now…it makes no sense that Lucas would not have been there for Will’s graduation, etc. Bringing him back is the best thing Days could do at this particular time.

Glad he’s coming back, Days really is like it was in the early 90s when it was sooo good!

Its always been the right time for Lucas. He should have never been gone in the first place at least Lucas would have never left his children. I’m estatic that he may be back I just don’t want to be letdown. This show is notorious for that.

I quit watching when Bryan was let go (both times). Lucas is my favorite character and without him the entire storyline with Will seems empty. I saw Chandler’s scenes Friday and for the first time in YEARS actually anticipate seeing his scenes Monday. He knocked it out of the park. IMO if done right, Bryan and Chandler could really do some Emmy worthy scenes. Days reboot – while I did try to watch – was an epic fail in my opinion and bringing Lucas back for this storyline would be a HUGE step in the right direction. I’m still at a loss why Bryan wasn’t brought back in September! Come on, Days! Don’t let another chance slip through your fingers! You actually have a chance at something good here!

right time for Bryan Dattilo for me was like yesterday

i will be excited if he is back and it better be for long term
i also i would hope so that the writers will write lucas as a supportive father of his son become who he really is too

Bring Bryan Dattilo back pronto. Would love to see him in the storyline with Will. I’m a huge Lucas fan and would expect that Lucas would have a difficult time with Will being gay, but in the long run, Lucas’s love for his son will always out weigh the doubts he has about homosexuality. This could be a roll that Bryan could sink his teeth into, but please keep Galen/Rafe out of the story line.

I would love to have him back on the show too.. Have been fan to him for the past 18 years. and would make this fan very happy if Lucas comes home. and he should be there for Will and only Lucas should be there for him.. and not Rafe..””That is all that matters, cause Will is our son. And If anyone is gonna be here for you its gonna be me! If anyone is gonna help you through this, and hold your hand and be supportive, I’m gonna do it! Not him!”

100 reasons for Lucas and Bryan to come back
_______________________________________
100. Lucas is an uncle yet again; he needs to see his nephew Parker.

99. Kate has too much on her plate these days, with dealing with Vivian and patching up her marriage with Stefano. She needs someone who knows Hearth and Home (Salem) to step in and keep it going. That would be Lucas.

98. Salem needs a little laughter as everyone is going through some tough times. Bryan Dattilo’s Lucas can interject that as only Lucas can.

97 Jennifer is having a rough time and losing her heart (literally). She could use the support (and possibly blood) of her brother Lucas.

96 Abby might be getting involved with a Dimera! Uncle Lucas has lots of life experience with that family to impar

95. Mother Kate needs help dodging Vivian’s wrath.

94 Brother Philip needs help learning to be a dad.

93 Cousin Nathan is dealing with the aftermath of trying to get over his true love with a poor substitute who lied to him – Lucas knows a thing or two about that.

92 Cousin Hope got beat up in prison!! Lucas could swap stories with her on that.

91 Sister Jennifer is lost without Jack, distanced from her children – Lucas could offer much needed support and understanding.

90 Since we know that Hearth and Home needs a high level executive in

Hong Kong, we’re sure that Austin and Carrie are willing to take on the challenge so Lucas can be closer to their niece and nephew. Surely Lucas can do much of his job in Salem anyway, where it’s easier to touch base with the founder, Kate.

89 Son Will has been through enough without his dad around – Lucas needs to be there for his son as he is transitioning into a man.

88 Daughter Allie has been tossed around and greatly ignored, as well as traumatized over her brother’s illness – Lucas NEEDS to be present to give her some stability and love.

87 Caroline just had a stroke; it’ll take her months to fully rehabilitate. Who is going to care for Allie while Sami is tending to Johnny? Her dad can!

86 Daniel was cheated on by Chloe – Lucas should be there to remind Daniel that he shouldn’t be so high and mighty.

85 Nicole’s sister Taylor is coming back to town – Lucas was her friend back in the day.

84 On (1/24) episode, Kate told Philip that she regrets not allowing Lucas and Bill to get to know each other. Us viewers also regret that we never saw much Lucas and Bill interaction, especially since we enjoyed them together at Alice’s funeral. It would also be great to see Kate explore that part of her past if both Lucas and Bill returned to Salem.

83 EJ has gotten away with hurting Lucas family too much – it’s time for Lucas to come back and protect the ones he loves like he used to.

82 Sami hasn’t been Sami since her best friend has been out of her life. Reason enough to have Lucas back.

81 There are not enough Hortons in Salem!!! Bring back a fan favorite with history and ties to the current canvas!

80 Bryan has fans that miss him!

79 Lucas has fans that miss him

78 Lumi have fans that miss them

77 Lucas can deliver snarky humor like Victor can, Days needs more of it.

76 Lucas can deliver real truths, Days needs it bad

75 His reaction to watching Victor and Maggie together is MUST SEE TV!

74 Lucas needs to come back so he can help Sami pick up the pieces of her life “every time it falls apart” and it’s fallen apart now big time.

73 Bryan Dattilo is awesome! We want to see more of him on our screens…shirtless or fully clothed

72 Children love Lucas (and Bryan) and Days has lots of little ones that could use a caring role model.

71 Very few people in Salem have ties to all major families like Lucas does. He’s a Horton, has children with a Brady, has a brother that’s a Kiriakis, has a mother who is married to a Dimera, his son is dating a Hernandez. It should be really easy to incorporate him into ANY story.

70 Philip was always the closest to Lucas. Now that he’s a new father, Lucas, his best man, should help him become the best father he can be and remind him that this isn’t the only child he has.

69 Remember Alice Caroline Horton (Allie)? Lucas does. He needs to come back to take care of her. Especially now that the Dimeras are threatening to kidnap her!

68 Nicole has been told to give up drinking. As her old drinking buddy, Lucas should help her find her sober side.

67 Sami has been allowed to hurt others with no remorse. Lucas always reminds Sami to think of others instead of herself.

66 All the characters have gone through tough times. Bryan Dattilo’s Lucas is the guy that makes them laugh, at him and themselves

65 A shirtless Lucas is never a waste of television.

64 A fully clothed Lucas is never a waste of television.

63 Lucas covered by a toaster is never a waste of television

62 There aren’t enough men in Salem wearing suits with all of the doctors and cops in town recently we need another man who can really wear a suit and make the women drool while doing so. That’s Lucas.

61 Lucas walking around wrapped in a towel is must see TV.

60 Lucas has tattoos that supposedly no one knows about; maybe Lucas can tell them why he got them.

59 We never really got to see Nathan and Lucas, cousins, and former roommates, bond. Now that Nathan will be leaving soon, maybe Lucas can come back and give him a nice farewell, and wish him luck on his future plans.

58 Kate’s world can fall apart at any minute. She’s married to Stefano and we all know what that may bring. She needs Lucas to help her stay above ground as they say.

57 Sami doesn’t need someone to help her cover up a crime, she needs someone to help her scheme to get away with it, and her partner in crime is Lucas.

56 Taylor is going to need a friend and there is no better and more loyal friend than Lucas.

55 Lucas should be in Salem to help Aunt Maggie sort out her feelings especially when it comes to Victor.

54 Lucas should be in Salem to remind Caroline that switching paternity paperwork only leads to heartache.

53 Having been in a messy relationship with a woman (and a child involved), Lucas is the best man to help Philip and Nathan through their trials and tribulations with Stephanie, Melanie and Chloe.

52 Johnny has had a very rough year. Lucas loves Johnny as if he were his own. He should be there for Johnny now.

51 Allie shouldn’t have to choose between being with her father, Lucas, and being with her twin, Johnny. Bring Lucas back to Salem so Allie won’t need to choose one over the other.

50 Will has starting a relationship with Gabi; Lucas should be there to give him some pointers.

49 Stefano is going back to his megalomaniacal ways; Lucas should be around to protect all those he loves.

48 Lucas should talk to Rafe about Sami and the problems with enabling her.

47 Rafe and Lucas have shared very few scenes and no dialogue. It’s time Rafe met the real competition.

46 Lucas should be back to remind Sami that everything Rafe can do, Lucas did first.

45 Lucas should talk to Gabi about Will and what a great kid he is.

44 Lucas should come back to Salem to talk to Will about the birds and the bees.

43 Will helped his mother cover up her crime, Lucas knows a thing or two about that and could really be a support system for Will at this time.

42 Next year’s Christmas celebration at the Horton’s will have one more Horton if Lucas is back in town.

41 Lucas should be back to remind Roman that he was strong enough to handle Sami too.

40 Lucas should be back to remind Roman that Roman liked him too and didn’t object to him marrying Sami.

39 Lucas should be back to celebrate his son’s high school graduation this summer.

38 The twins will be getting out of preschool soon and attending Kindergarten. Allie & Johnny should go to the same school as they are twins. Lucas should come back to Salem for Allie’s first day of Kindergarten.

37 Fans miss the General!

36 Fans miss the General and Scami.

35 Sami needs the Alice Horton Chocolate Chip cookie recipe to be able to bake the twins’ favorite cookies. Lucas has the recipe.

34 When Lucas left in Feb. of 2010 HH ratings for Days were at 2.3, now it’s 1.7. Why not try bringing Lucas back to see if ratings go up a bit?

33 Lucas should come back to Salem to find the gun that EJ says he has, which we know he doesn’t.

32 Sami’s husband is going through a rough time after his accident. Since Sami is virtually alone trying to figure out what is going on with Rafe, Lucas can come back to support and help her.

31 Since Allie appears to have a major issue with Rafe, Lucas should return to Salem to get to the bottom of the problem and protect the ones he loves.

30 Too many bad things have happened to Lucas’ loved ones since he left town for him NOT to return.

29 Salem residents mention Lucas frequently so he must be missed by them as well.

28 Days needs a little romance, who better to deliver that than Lucas. Remember that wonderful proposal to Sami when Lucas sang “When a Man Loves a Woman”? Days’ audience does!

27 Days needs characters that can understand the pitfalls of life, and can still get up on both feet after life hits them hard. Lucas is one of those characters.

26 Since he had Will at such a young age, Lucas has always had an ease in communicating with children. I would love to see him interacting with Ciara, Johnny, Allie, Theo, and all the under 5 more.

25 The twins that play little Allie love Bryan, and Bryan has said that he missed them too. It would be great to have these three that miss each other working together agai

24 Dan has kicked Chloe out of their apartment. Lucas should get the pleasure of kicking Daniel out of Lucas and Sami’s former apartment.

23 Dan cheats, Bo cheats, Philip cheats, but Lucas never has. We need more than one man in Salem that doesn’t believe in adultery, right? Lucas is that man.

22 Lucas is honest. We need more honest men in Salem.

21 Lucas has chocolate brown eyes that can melt any woman’s heart, especially female viewers of Days of our Lives. Bring Lucas back for the female viewers!

20 Since we don’t want the male viewers to get jealous, bring Lucas back for the male viewers too!

19 It’s not in Lucas’ character to leave his family behind in search of greener pastures in China. Come on! Bring Lucas back to Salem!

18 Lucas loves fire extinguishers, he can put out all the fires in Salem, very quickly!

17 Camping trips aren’t the same without Lucas!

16 Picnics aren’t the same without Lucas!

15 Ciara has suffered a lot for one little girl; she could use her cousin Lucas

14 Sami needs to laugh out loud more. The last time you saw her laughing was likely with Lucas!

13 Bryan’s cast members miss Bryan on set and working with him. Bringing Bryan back would solve that

12 Lucas can tell Brady about trying to escape by using alcohol; it doesn’t lead to anything good.

11 Rafe needs competition from a man that Sami refered to as the “love of her life”

10 Lucas needs to remind sister Jennifer that her new “love” Dan is not always a good man

9 Chloe & Nicole need another ex husband in town to make their new adventures even more complicated.

8 Abby needs her uncle. (Especially if she’s messing with DiMeras!)

7 Hope needs her cousin

6 Maggie needs her nephew

5 Jennifer needs her brother

4 Kate needs her son Lucas

3 Sami needs her bestfriend

2 Allie needs both parents. Lucas/Allie should return home & stay

1Will needs support soon. Lucas loved Will before he knew he was his & was always a supportive dad

Lucas should have never been gone in the first place. his children need a parent who remembers them, and cares and puts them first.

Bring Lucas back and reunite Lumi!

yep bring BRD/Lucas Horton back to stay till the end of Days,
He is missed by his #1 fan “ME” 🙂

The ratings have bottomed out it is clear the majority do not want EJ.. Bryan will bring viewers back that were ousted by the Ej sicko show..rapists and grief sex is a big NO !
Lucas would be very supportive of Will and love him no matter what.
But the bigger issue is that in the past ..swept under the dirty Dimera rug it was written that Johnny and Ali were Not Dimera, the stem cells did NOT match to save Stefano. This has to be. and should be re-visted. Nothing could make the ratings soar higher than Lucas fighting for and winning his son from the Dimera’s !!

yes, I really want Bryan Dattilo back on my screen. I have not watched since the day he left and won’t watch until he is back on my screen. Please bring back Bryan Dattilo, Lucas needs to be there for Will and Allie, both his children. He also needs to be declared the father of Johnny, oh the drama that would cause to have both the twins be Lucas’s, as it should be. Please bring back Bryan Dattilo as Lucas Horton and reunite the Horton family. Lucas, Sami, Allie and Johnny. That would make this Lucas, Bryan and Lumi fan very happy!

It would be fantastic to have Byan back on the canvas. One of the best things about Days is that their major actors over the years come back time after time. I’d love to see Lucas get all uptight and outraged over Will’s coming out story. (Politcal correctness does NOT make for good daytime drama.)
BTY- Massey (Will) has been fantastic lately. I loved his big dramatic reaction to Gabby’s rejection and ending of their relationship. I hope they play out this story slowly and show all the complexities involved in the coming out process.

I’d be so beyond happy and filled with joy if Bryan returned as Lucas. He should have never been let go in the first place. He’s a Horton, hes very important to the history of the show. His son Will needs him during the dark stuff that he’s going through. His little girl Allie needs her daddy. and his Soul-Mate Sami needs him to make some sense of the MESS she’s once again created for herself. Lumi belong together like Bo & Hope, John & Marlena, Jack & Jennifer and Carrie & Austin belong together. They are part of the long line of SUPERCOUPLES. With word that his sister is coming home, and his brother Austin came back earlier this year, Lucas needs to come back. Kate needs all her children back in Salem especially Lucas. There is still so much for Lucas to do in Salem! Please oh please say Lucas is returning. If days is really serious about turning the show back into the show we know and love then it won’t be complete till Lucas comes home! Lumi 4ever!

Would love to see Bryan return. The show has a void without him! Watched him for years and years. I miss the days when Lucas was in Salem. Don’t care if he’s not written with Sami. Actually at this point it’s probably best that he’s not. I just want Lucas back. Dattilo is a great actor.

I have stopped watching till Bryan comes back!!!!!!!!!

I’d tune back in to see THIS return! I’d like to see Lucas really blown away by Will’s coming out. Hey, if he was perfectly fine with it, that’d be very unsoap like! Things are never that easy. I don’t want to see Lucas written as a jerk though, and there is a difference.

Most of all, if Lucas returned I would tune right back out if they didn’t do right to the Will/Lucas relationship that they’ve been butchering (I’ve seen scenes, although I no longer watch the show regularly). Rafe is not the first “real father figure” Will has had. Lucas is and always will be. I need the writers to get this right.

If BD comes back, there is really no need for GG – plain and simple. BD can take over the co parenting duties with sami (only) and maybe find himself some sweet loving via madison or even gabi (since dool is exploring the older man young girl crush via abby and austin, lucas should be able to dip into that honey bowl). No Sami or Carrie or even Nicole pairing, Lucas has been there and done that too many times it will be insulting and depressing to send the guy back for another round of pride-destroying “romance”. This time around I would like Lucas to have some sense, sensibility and smarts (which does not mean lippy, irritating and self righteous). If the writers and production intend to bring Lucas just to occupy space by making him a spineless, witless and annoying character please skip and wait until BD can be given something worth his talent and skills – we have already GG/Rafe to contend with, no need for a second serving of mediocre and terrible character development, thank you very much.

Would be very glad to have Lucas/Bryan back. Seems the timing would be right to have him come now during the storyline of Will coming out. I would want him to be supportive perhaps, at first it would be an adjustment, but then he comes to realize that he loves his son and wants him to be happy.

May sound strange, but also down the road would like to have EJ/Lucas team up on something in a ‘buddy’ way not mean or angry. In the past, EJ and Lucas actually had good chemistry and at times were funny together. Would like to see this again.

First of all, I disagree with Vicky…I think Days is amazing right now. They are paying attention to vets, giving us old fashioned soap stories, and love centered ones. Last I knew, this is what fans wanted. I know this fan is very pleased with what he sees. As for Lucas coming back, heck yeah. This story cannot be told properly without his father, who I could totally see being more supportive than Sami. I am also interested in seeing how Will’s friends react namely Chad. I know when my friend came out. I wanted to support him, and I did, but still wasn’t sure how to act. Now I realize its no different except he likes guys and I like girls…i hope days explores this realism

Bryan needs to come back. Lucas is sorely needed in Salem!

about.com has CONFIRM that Bryan Dattilo/Lucas Horton id indeed returning,he began taping 12-5th.
HOORAY,,, YIPPEE
his kids need hin,and Im so happy he is back, and I hope he stays till the end of Days,
Merry Christmas to all his fans and to ME ME ME 🙂

Bryan is back look for him in Late feb or early march

rumor going around that the shawn d brady character would be coming back but expect a recast though

The 100 reasons Lucas should return is cool. I never knew LUMI had such a following.

Days Of Our Lives

Stephen Schnetzer Talks On His Return to Days of our Lives and Working with Susan Seaforth Hayes In Emotional Episodes

Who says you can’t go home again? In the case of Another World favorite, Stephen Schnetzer (ex-Cass Winthrop), he has proven that it is true, and you can go back to your soap roots and where it all started for you.

Last week on April 11th, Schnetzer, along with several other key returns were on set at Days of our Lives taping all-new episodes of the Peacock streaming soap opera, centering on the funeral of Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes), and as part of the iconic soap opera’s 15,000th episode.

Stephen is reprising his first daytime role as Steve Olson, the brother of Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes). The last time Schnetzer appeared on a DAYS set was during his one and only run on the show from 1978 to 1980. Clearly, viewers will be in for some very emotional scenes when Steve returns to Salem to be there for his sister, Julie in her time of need. In real-life, Susan has been going through her own grief, having just lost Bill back on January 12th at the age of 98.

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Stephen during the 15K episode celebration ceremony, and during a break from taping the gut-wrenching funeral scenes, to get his thoughts on being part of these highly-anticipated moments that will air later this year in December. Here’s what he shared with us below.

What has this been like for you to work with Susan Seaforth Hayes after all of these years?

STEPHEN: She’s a dream and she’s so bright. We ran lines yesterday and we ended up just visiting for about 45 minutes and just catching up and telling tales about each other’s career. She even dropped off the autobiography that she and Bill did. And being back here at DAYS, every time I turn a corner, there’s another familiar face. When I was on the show 40 more years ago, a bunch of the guys, played softball on a team together. This is really a trip down memory lane as I knew it would be.

Taping Doug’s funeral must be a hard day for Susan. Are you checking in with her to help hold her up through this?

STEPHEN: I am and I’m checking in with Amy Shaughnessy (Susan’s assistant), and she’s holding her up more than anybody. We’re there for each other.

There will obviously be some major hankie-inducing moments when Steve comes back to Salem to console his sister.

STEPHEN: Oh, wait till you see it in December. It’s going to be great.

Were you surprised you got this call to come back to the show decades later?

STEPHEN: It was out of the blue! I was completely surprised. They should have called me decades ago! That’s what surprised me. When Another World went down, I thought I’d land somewhere else and it never happened. That was more of a surprise.

Cass is such an identifiable character for you. As well, you and Linda Dano (ex-Felicia Gallant) are so synonymous together as best friends Cass and Felicia from Another World. When fans heard you were reprising your role as Steve Olson on DAYS, they are now hoping there will be more of you on the show to come.

STEPHEN: Steven Olson is a real “Cassian “character. I cut my teeth on Steve Olson and that’s how Cass was introduced. He was kind of a roguish charmer. And then when the character stuck for Another World, they rehabilitated me, and turned me into one of the shows heroes. And that’s what would’ve happened if I stayed as Steve Olson probably. So, Steve is the ‘pre-Cass’, Cass.

As the story goes, you originally decided to leave Days of our Lives?

STEPHEN: I was never on contract. I was doing a day and a half a week and I got a Broadway play directed by Franco Zeffirelli starring Joan Plowright and Frank Finlay. I was able to it as I didn’t have to break a contract or anything. I cut loose and went back to New York for that.

How well did you get to know Bill Hayes during your first time around on DAYS?

STEPHEN: My first episode was with Bill and Susan, as her long lost brother coming into Salem. They were so good to me. They were so kind. I had been doing eight years of classical repertory theater, never been in front of a camera. I tell everybody, it took me longer than any other actor I’ve ever seen to get comfortable in front of a camera. And they were very supportive at that time in my career. Coming back to honor Bill now in 2024, and to be see Susan, I am just so happy to be here.

Looking forward to seeing the scenes between Stephen and Susan Seaforth Hayes come December and Doug’s funeral and surrounding episodes? Do you hope that DAYS might bring the character of Steve Olson back for a longer stay? Comment below.
