One Life to Live once again addresses the subject of teen pregnancy beginning on the Friday, June 10th episode with the characters of Destiny Evans (Shenell Edmonds) and Matthew Buchanan (Eddie Alderson).  The story will also involve the character of Starr Manning (Kristen Alderson) who was at the center of OLTL’s popular teen pregnancy story in 2008.  Starr becomes a voice of reason for Destiny, who recently shared her first sexual experience with Matthew, as Starr wonders if she could be pregnant.

ABC Daytime has a long history of entertaining while informing, using the strong foundation of a core characters to take the audience on an emotional journey while prompting discussion among our viewers.  With the support of the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, OLTL’s 2008 teen pregnancy story explored 16-year-old Starr Manning’s first sexual experience and resulting pregnancy.

Kristen Alderson who has been hosting several of the video blogs on the ABC.com for the OLTL website hub,  sat down with Shenell Edmonds to talk about the issues facing teens these days, if they have had a sexual encounter.  For Destiny, the stakes are so high, as Matthew is in a coma clinging to life with barely any brain-activity.

Watch the discussion between Kristen and Shenell here!

I don’t know how I feel about Destiny being pregnant. I’m glad she has story to play until the end. I hope she can pull it off. I hope it is part of a bigger story that is yet to reveal itself, because I am not looking forward to seeing this play out as such. She is a minor character and so far given little compelling story to play with lasting consequences. We will see. What social message is OLTL trying to tell. Starr just went through this. Langston learned the lesson and we saw how condoms became a norm for her and Marko. What is the point of Destiny being pregnant unless she decides to get an abortion after Matthew dies and Nora won’t let her.

Todd, Shenell Edmonds (Destiny) DID have a compelling story when she found out after all these years that her “brother” Greg is actually her father, her parents are really her grandparents. Ms. Edmonds played out the story excellently. You may be right in that Destiny will chose abortion and Nora fighting to make her take the pregnancy to term. While you may think Shenell Edmonds is a minor character, she’s ALOT more interesting than the Fords brothers, Starr, Deanna, Dani and Jack Manning. As for a “minor” character, Shayne (Austin Williams) bullying story is done well. Yes, Jack Manning doing the bullying, he’s just a follower. He’s doing the bullying because is friend, Brad goads him into it.

Hi Sue. I was let down by that conclusion that Destiny’s parents were really her Grandparents. Greg gets carted off to jail seconds later. That was rushed, and we never saw or cared where Des is living? Where is Shawn’s house. Is he ever there? Is Destiny alone? Shane is a major character because he is Rex and Gigi’s kid. We have grown to care about him already through his illness, his bonding with Brody, coming to terms with Rex being his dad. I like Destiny…don’t get me wrong. I just do not feel like the show ever had a real plan for her. She was tossed aside as soon as Dani showed up. I like Starr and James (better than Cole), and I am entertained by Bobby. I would rather see Destiny every day than Dani and Nate/Deanna. I was hoping Des would be tied into Evangeline in some way or another character (with a house). I think Shennel is adorable….she just doesn’t make me feel for her. I blame the writing because we know almost nothing about her. It would have helped if we saw even once where she lived. Did she make up with the grandparents? Is she looking up information on her birth mom? This is what I mean by underused. If she is gonna be pregnant and driving story…I better see her in her apartment or else. Lol.

I’M A DESTINY FAN. I’M NOT A FAN OF HER BEING WITH MATTHEW. SHE IS SO NEEDY OF HIM ALL THE TIME. I LOVED WATCHING MATTHEW INTERACTING WITH STARR, DANIELLE AND HIS PARENTS BO AND NORA. AND HIS COUSINS. I WONDER IF HE AND STARR WOULD BECOME LOVERS. I FEEL BAD DESTINY WHEN SHE FOUND HER BROTHER GREG IS HER FATHER. ONE THING I DO LIKE ABOUT GREG HOW HEW MANAGED TO SAVE SEAN’S LIFE. SOMETIMES I THINK DESTINY THINKS SHE OWNS MATTHEW. LIKE SHE WOULD’NT LET STARR SEE MATTHEW WHEN HE WAS IN A COMA. I DO LIKE EDDIE ALDERSON I ALSO LIKE ROBERT GORRIE.

I HOPE ONE LIFE TO LIVE WILL COME BACK IN 215. I WANT TO SEE IF STARR RETURNS. SHE CAN NOT ONLY WITH MATTHEW BUT ALSO WITHER HER SISTER DANI AND HER BROTHERS JACK AND SAM.

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Photo: FOX

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you want to see Lisa Rinna reprise her Melrose Place role as Taylor McBride? Comment below.

Sean Kanan’s Stepdaughter, Juliet Vega, to Appear on The Bold and the Beautiful

Coming up on this Friday’s April 26th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Juliet Vega, the stepdaughter to Sean Kanan will make an appearance on the CBS daytime drama series in the role of Michele.

Keeping it “All in the Family”, the character is named after Juliet’s real-life mother, and Kanan’s wife, writer and producer, Michele Kanan.

Back in 2012, Sean married Michele Vega and thus began their blended family which included his daughter, Simone, and Michelle’s children, Peter, Gigi, and her twins, Annie and Juliet.

According to a B&B show spokesperson, Juliet’s B&B character is intentionally named Michele in honor of her mother and Sean’s wife.

While we don’t know how “Michele” shows up in story, it is the same episode that Clint Howard makes an appearance as well seemingly tied to the case of where in the world is Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown)?

We can’t imagine that Juliet wouldn’t get the opportunity to mix it up on-screen with her stepdad, Sean Kanan. Previously, the two acted together in Sean’s streaming series Studio City, where she played the role of Delilah and he played soap actor, Sam Stevens. In it, Delilah is the bio-daughter Sam never knew he had.

So, looking forward to seeing Juliet on B&B and how ‘Michele’ turns up in the story? Comment below.
