General Hospital

Is General Hospital set to be dropped by certain ABC affliates or to get a new time slot?

As many General Hospital fans know there has been “rumors” on the web that some viewers have been told by their local ABC affiliates that General Hospital is going to be off their programming schedule as of June 2012.

So ABC Soaps In Depth went to some digging to see if that is true and came back with this information:  “According to a rep in one major market, they have not received word that GH will be dropped from the line-up this spring. A spokesperson for another affiliate agreed, saying, “I haven’t heard anything about that, but I’ll carry GH as long as ABC gives it to me.” However,  major affiliate did tell us this: it looks like they have been informed that GH will get a new time slot, but whether that’s in May or September remains to be seen.”

Now, a spokesperson for ABC Daytime says that there is no truth to the rumor that GH will be absent from the schedules of some affiliates this summer, and that those stations have not been saying so to viewers.

It clearly would make most sense that any new time slot change would come once September 2012 hits and the syndicated talker, Katie debuts in most markets,  only time will tell.   Stay tuned.

They should cancel that horrible mess.

Yes, They should cancel that god awful GH.. Some of us viewers have more sophisticated tastes that don’t involve the mafia crap they have all the time.

No Jeff, ABC shouldn’t cancel GH.

ABC execs should quit interfering with the show by forcing their bad ideas on the wirters. Instead, let the wirters do their jobs. Execs forcing changes that cause the rewrites to be handed to actors as they are about to shoot their scenes are causing poor performaces (and despair) on the parts of the actors.

Ask any long time viewer, ABC has driven this show into the ground to prove a point that no one is watching.

I agree…..GH is hard to watch. The pacing is slow (especially in this day and age)…..the characters historys are being rewriten (or thrown out completely)…..the replacement of long standing families (Spencers, Quartermaines, etc) and the potential of rich stories with tons of new characters that no viewer is connecting with.

And don’t get me started on how the mob rules Port Charles (where are the police?). I totally agree with you. Now good (PCPD) vs evil (Sonny) stories could be taken into an interesting direction don’t you think.

ABC is intentionally trying to sabotage the show to drive viewers away and make it undesirerable to be bought by another network.

ABC are using the same play book that they used to get rid of AMC. Just read the addition material added to Susan Lucci’s paperback book and you will see what I mean.

SHAME ON YOU ABC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well if there will be only 4 soaps on TV in 2012,I like the line up this way so I can watch 3 out of the 4 that will still be on

Days at 1pm
Y&R at 2pm
B&B at 3pm[I never have watched B&B]
GH 3pm

I don’t care what time it is on, as long as it stays on ABC’s daytime line up, and I can TIVO it. Long live GH !!!!!

abc are liars. I believe nothing they say.
In truthfullness, after 35 years of watching this soap, I stopped recording it this week.
That was hard for me to do. But I no longer can be a part of this mess.

if everyone stop watching then we end up giving abc the excuse they need to cancel these soaps, we need to keep watching to keep these soaps on even if you dont like the s/l at the time, we need to keep these actors we have come to love and have entertained us all these employed, that is the least we can do for them.

GH is history. Will it be June of 2012 or September of 2012?
Watching, Not watching, does it matter?? The show is over.
I only wish that they would show vets like me, who has been loyal to them and allowed them into my home for so long, would ‘respectfully’ sign off.
They are far from respectful as of late.

I hate to say this but GH is leaving the airwaves in Sept 2012. I wouldn’t be surprise if ABC cancels them even earlier like June. I am sure they are doing pilots soon for next year. They are going to launch another less costly production like the Chew and whatever replaces OLTL.I was a GH avid viewer back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I am sure PP is or has negogiated to air GH as well. ABC has made it clear they are not interested in daytime dramas anymore.

JP, I think you are so right!

TPTB don’t care about what their viewers want to see so I don’t care to watch GH.

reunite sonny and brenda in 2012

Ohh puhlez….this mess started with the comeback of Brenda.
Allow her to stay away.

In my sunday Enquirer on March 25, 2012 says “If ABC cancels “General Hospital” next month Katie Couric could replace the soap at 3 p.m. weekdays with a talk show!! Do we really need anymore talk shows? All of the soaps have been taken off already for more talk shows, WHY??????????? That would be such a shame!

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’

We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.

Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.

Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story.  The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.

The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed.  Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”

No word yet on when The Workout will be released.

So, looking forward to seeing this collaborative effort featuring GH’s Josh Kelly? Comment below.
