Is GH Recasting TJ? Or, Adding Another Teen to the Younger Set?

Corutesy/IMDB

Corutesy/IMDB

A casting breakdown has gone from General Hospital and it looks like they may be looking for a replacement for the character of TJ, currently played by Krys Meyer, who plays Molly’s (Haley Pullos) boyfriend!

According to Soap Opera Digest, the casting note says the ABC soap is looking for a male, “major, ongoing recurring role” who is “16, African American. Charming, charismatic, very appealing and handsome. A bit cocky, gets into trouble, but has a very soulful, sensitive side.”  The role would begin taping next month.

Ok soapers, here are our questions.: Do you like Krys Meyer in the role of TJ?  If not, who would you suggest GH recast the role with?  Or, do you think this is for another role all together?  Let us know your thoughts!

Maybe they are bringing back Tom Hardy Jr., he should be about this age by now.

Nope, Tom Hardy Jr. would be at least 23.

that would be a great idea especially since he is part of a legacy family

I don’t know if it’s the actor or the way the character is written, but as of right now, TJ is forgettable and a change should be made if they want to keep this character growing. I don’t know if that means recast, a stronger portrayal of the character by the current actor or change in writing for the character.

I agree with you. There’s no chemistry between TJ and Molly as it stands now.

I agree with the ‘forgettable’ that storyline is rather forgettable! ha

i bet if it was tom hardy jr he’d be aged progressed and not really 16.

casting call says ‘major ‘ recurring role – that obviously is NOT TJ that is not major at all.

Definitely NOT Tom Hardy Jr. He was born in 1989, so he’d be at least 23.

Tom Hardy Jr, would be around Maxie age based on real time.

Recast for sure.

From the call it sounds like Krys is being replaced. Remember the young actor before Chad D?

I wasn’t a big fan at first, but TJ, and his portrayor, have grown on me. I don’t think a recast is necessary. He and Molly are adorable together.

I agree, I say keep TJ. Their chemistry is acceptable, they are young. Michael and Starr chemistry is no where as great as it was with Abby, that’s chemistry. Even Sonny and Carly had more chemistry than Sonny and Kate or the rest of them, except Tamara Braun.

The character is weak. Especially playing against someone as strong as little Molly.. I vote new young love interest altogether. Haley Pullos is worth it! Side note: still haven’t seen the advantage of re-casting Kristina.. Lexi A. was incredibly good with the very tough storylines they threw at her.

Lexi Ainsworth is SORELY missed by many. This NuKristina is horrible.

They were VERY cute, in my opinion, when Alexis was reading the terms of their dating “contract” last week. However, I just do not think that TJ and Molly have had enough screen time.

That being said, I still think there is so much jumpiness going on. A lot of times an episode will start and it is like dialogue had taken place on the day or days before, but my Tivo didn’t record it. I know this isn’t the case. It is not as choppy as when the new team took over, but I still notice it here and there.

It seems that, due to landing a new job elsewhere, Krys Meyer is leaving the role of TJ, which necessitated a recast.

I agree, the role of TJ needs some fine tuning to get viewers to care. I only ask one thing from GH: PLEASE do not have Molly get pregnant!!!!!!!!!!!

He’s OK. Though, I wouldn’t miss him.

A recast is a good idea. They also need to bring in spoiled Jack Manning as a spoiler. The once horrible but greatly improved Andrew Trichitta would be good in the role, especially if he’s spent the last few months in acting class.

Molly needs a new love interest. TJ and Molly do not work. Molly is too smart for TJ. She needs someone who ia cute and shares her interests.

What do you mean cute? Krys ain’t ugly. I’ll give you interest sharing.

Like they say, composites attract!

I don’t think TJ needs to be recast. Give Krys Meyer a chance. He’s doing a great job. What’s wrong with you ABC!

From Daytime Confidential:

“It appears the General Hospital casting call everyone has been talking about all day is in fact for a TJ recast. According to setside sources, Krys Meyer booked a new gig, which has resulted in the role needing to be recast. ”

One of the weaker storylines for me. Current actor made no impact and certainly not when compared to the actress playing Molly.

Tj is forgettable. No chemistry with Molly. We need some charisma in the younger actors… another Vanessa Marcil in the 90’s! I was a pre-teen then and watched just for her young storyline!

I kow what U mean. I miss the days of Venessa Marcil and Maurice, ( Brenda and Sonny). You could fall in love for an hour with Sonny and Brenda on the screen, and they BOTH were so EEEEZZZZZZ to look at. Love them!

PLEASE BRING ON JACK MANNING……. HE WOULD BE PERFECT FOR CHRISTIANA. I ALSO ADORE ANDREW, AS JACKI MANNING………

Although people, GH casting is looking for a REPLACEMENT for the role, which means African American!

the original tj is great. big mistake to recast.

big mistake to recast tj.

the original tj was great

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’

We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.

Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.

Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story.  The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.

The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed.  Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”

No word yet on when The Workout will be released.

So, looking forward to seeing this collaborative effort featuring GH’s Josh Kelly? Comment below.
