Jacob Young Moves From Contract To Recurring Status With The Bold and the Beautiful

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Jacob Young (Rick Forrester) has been one busy man of late pursuing many outside projects from his day gig at the CBS soap opera including his music career.

Now comes word via Soap Opera Digest that Young is off-contract at B&B, and has gone to recurring status, a move that Jacob is good with.

Young tweeted to inquiring fans on the contract status change: “I want to take a moment to address the rumors that I’m currently off contract. All true, I’m recurring and just starting to shoot a movie for Lifetime. I have been under contract for 21 years and this to me is a blessing. I can now have the time to pursue all my passions Xo”

The Daytime-Emmy winning actor told SOD,  “They do still have me working, which is great.”

So, what do you think of Jacob going to recurring on B&B? Comment below.

Since B&B has become “The Liam Show”, this isn’t a surprise. If Bradley Bell wants to diminish his other actors on the show, then the resulting ratings slide is all on him. Good luck Jacob.

The only time I liked Liam was when he was with Quinn and he was Adam and she was Eve. I had really hoped during this last meltdown he would return to the comfort of her bosom. I loved Deacon, but he became a cartoon character and quickly carted off. I liked Sheila and her weirdness-but she kind of totally petered out and caused no major problems. Main stories have been Bill/Brooke/Ridge and Steffy/Bill/Liam/Wyatt-don’t care for either.

Gotta make more room and air-time for the Liam, Steffy (ugh), and Hope (ugh) love triangle!

It seems many of the contract actors are never on-must be nice to get a paycheck and not have to work-but probably frustrating to actors-I don’t know. Once his character and Maya got married-after all the drama-then the baby-really not much story written for them.
I know he is performing music with Scott Reeves-ex Steven Lars from GH. Would like to see them live.

I do hope Rick remains part of the B&B mix, and that his character gets another great story line in the future. I liked the strength of Rick and the role the character has in the Forrester family as Eric’s son with Brooke, establishing a place in the business and the family. I would like more focus there than Ridge and Thorne, starry recasts aside, their plots have not been exciting or engaging to me. B&B tool too long to bring Ridge back after Ronn Moss departed the show, and the radical nu-look and attitude Thorne is difficult for me to accept.

Maybe he will return as Lucky on GH

Please no, he’s a fine actor, but wasn’t suited to Lucky

When Hell freezes over… and the extended 666 day weather forecast says that’s not at all likely.

He likes it…and good for him!!!

if jacob is good with it then so am i – i am so excited about his lifetime movie – he is such a talented actor and i have followed him since he played lucky spencer on gh (2000 – 2003)
tptb/writers on b&b have not utilized his talents in a very long time…………………..

Makes sense since we don’t see him much these days. B&B does have a large canvas for a 30 minute show.

If it works for him, great. He’s very talented.

It’s disappointing, to me, that Jacob Young has fallen off the radar as Rick Forrester. His return was poised as to become frontrunner for the soap, and he has since then fallen into the background as some piece of furniture. This is positively disappointing. Though, if it is Young’s decision, then I support. But it sounds like it was the decision of a dual EP/HW whose positions need to be filled by other people more capable of making better decisions.

Although I could take or leave Rick, I am annoyed at the powers that be for slowly phasing out, and probably getting rid of the Avant family. I had a feeling this was slowly in the works when they married off Nicole and Zende, and then promptly shipped them off to Paris. All this to focus on the usuals. Between the kiss between Maya and Zende, and Nicole refusing to sign the adoption paper’s, they had the potential for a couple of good stories. But I guess the main focus will always be the Forrester’s and the Spencer’s. I wonder where this will leave Maya? With the return of Sally coming up, I hope they don’t plan on having a Hope, Liam, Sally triangle in the works. I hope she is still with Thomas. They are so good together. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.

I heard the actress playing Maya is going to have a baby in real life, so if that is true then I expect we won’t see much of Maya either in upcoming months, while she is on mat leave–

I will bet money once KM goes on maternity leave her and Rick will be shipped to Paris.

Did Frank Valentini take over as producer of B&B when I wasn’t looking? 🙂

Why…how many ex OLTL stars have joined this show-lol

Hey Jim! Good point. I was alluding to Valentini’s decision to put Genie Francis on recurring, as is happening now with Jacob Young. I can’t pass up an opportunity to knock the GH producer… It’s in my DNA!

Good luck to you Jacob if anybody ever has a chance to see him in concert go he is a lot of fun nice voice and great stage presence!

I have always liked Jacob Young and if it’s ok with him then I am ok with it for I want whats best for Jacob…

Smart move, he & Carla Mosley were automatic fast cowards whenever they were on.

I’m fine with this! Jacob is so rarely on anyway, so why not go recurring so he can do other things?
He’s another actor who suffers from the S.O.S. writing and I’m sure he’s bored with acting it just like we’re bored watching it!

Another questionable move by Brad Bell.

I have been a JY fan since he was J.R. on “All My Children.” He was amazing being a lead actor on that show. I started watching “B&B” a few years ago as Quinn kidnapped Liam. I loved seeing Rena Sofer being the focus at that time. Since then, it seems like it has been non-stop Steffy, Liam and Bill. I realize the constrains of a 30-minute show has a lot of limitations. For the past 6-8 weeks, the show has solely focused on Bill’s shooting. During that timeframe, nu-Hope has been on every episode with Brooke, Liam or Steffy. In the meantime, there has been NO screen time for Sally and Thomas (did they go back to NY?), the Avant family, the return of Thorne (biggest waste of talent and character in 2018) and even worse, Heather Tom (arguably the best actress on daytime) has become nothing more than window dressing.

I understand that writers and the powers-that-be have their favorites, but please give us a rest from Liam, Steffy and Bill. I like all of these characters, but monopolizing the entire show has become painful.

So odd, since out of Eric’s children Rick and Felicia were always the most interesting, and in Jacob Young and Lesli Kay played by the strongest actors. Yet Ridge and Thorne get all the (repetitive) story lines. I just don’t get it.

So sad. This young actor is really good. Was hoping the storyline of an affair would work for him. He needs more to do on this show.

Brad Bell is AN ABSOLUTE FOOL if he thinks that longtime B&B viewers wanna watch YET MORE of the Bill/Brooke/Ridge and Hope/Liam/Steffy silliness!!!!!

BEYOND YUCK!!!!!

Hey Jay you obviously are watching it some whatever happened to RJ? I thought he was interning then I read we have hired two new interns ?? I said a long time ago just because you are raised around a soap writer/producer does not mean you are going to be one Brad needs to step aside and get a new headwriter he is like a little boy who keeps reaching for the next new shiny toy .
