Fantastic news this afternoon out of Salem! Soap Opera Digest is reporting that James Scott (EJ Dimera) has reached a deal with the powers-that-be at Days of our Lives and has signed a new deal to stay with the show for another year till April 2013!

This should come as great news to James’s fans who were concerned that the popular actor might decide to bolt, when for many, he is one of the main reasons they tune-in to DAYS. We are glad to hear that Salem will have mayoral candidate, EJ Dimera and James along for some time to come!

He isn’t the reason I tune into Days, but he is a good enough actor & I’m sure his fans are happy!

Thanks Michael! James is the one and the only reason. He’s the real deal, Is totally hot, gorgeous, talented and he has got amazing skills as an actor. He has got the whole package! Glad to hear James is staying looking forward to it.

So true sara! “Pretty boys” in soaps are a dime a dozen but with James Scott we get the breath-takingly handsome looks and exceptional talent! That my friends would qualify JAMES SCOTT as THE TOTAL PACKAGE!

The main reason I watch days!

I don’t like EJ. At all. But his leaving would have derailed the new writers’ plans. I think James will leave for good in April 2013, and he should—EJ is a terrible character and has overstayed his welcome. It sickens me that THIS is what happened to Susan Banks’ son. 🙁

YAAAAAAYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fantastic news!!! James Scott is the reason I started watching Days again in 2007 after a 10 year break from the show!!! James has taken material written for EJ that would have desroyed the character had he been portrayed by a lesser actor. James is special and I hope tptb at DOOL, NBC and Sony realize just how much and make sure EJ gets a well written and compelling story. TEAM EJAMES!!!!!! 🙂

He is the reason I tune in. James’ performances made these past two years worth watching. He is a talented actor, a handsome man, and a true gentleman. I’m so glad Days realized his value. They didn’t need to lose one of their most popular actors when they are struggling to address the shambles the last creative team left the show in.

I am so happy to hear this news. I just hope the contract is a good one for James. The new writers will now get a chance to show how EJ could be written well. That would be a pleasant change.

This is great news!

James Scott is an outstanding actor and an important asset at Days. He has been one of the few consistently excellent performers through some of the worst writing and nonsensical storylines I’ve ever seen on this show. Also, he has turned a character who was probably intended to be a one-dimensional villain into a multi-dimensional character of great depth who evokes a range of emotions in the viewer and always engages us in EJ’s story. It is clear that James never rests on his laurels and that, as the consumate professional that he is, works very hard to constantly improve himself as an actor and provide us, the viewers, with a glimpse at yet another aspect of EJ’s character. Now that is compelling, character-driven television.

I am pleased that TPTB at Days realize that James portrayal of EJ is such an asset to the show and that James has so many fans who tune in to Days in whole or in part because he brings something to the show that no one else can. I’m looking forward to exciting, compelling, and original storylines for James to bring us more of this great character in the future.

Thank you.

I am so happy James is stay at Days. He’s one of the best they have and an very talented actor. I’m looking forward to more EJ and James on Days. Now, I want good storytelling and good writing for James. James is my reason for watching Days!!

It’s too bad. I was so hoping he would finally be let go. Since this show started revolving around EJ it has been awful, and driven hundreds of thousands of viewers away. If he must stay, I hope he will be seriously backburner-ed and used minimally. I stopped watching the show when I could no longer stand him being on EVERY SINGLE DAY. I was hoping to come back to the show for the re-set, but if the new writers continue to overuse this overrated actor and TERRIBLE character, I won’t be able to come back completely, even for my returning favorites.

The show was bad for reasons other than James Scott. Sara Bibel credited him with saving the show. And his two nominations for Best Actor contradict your assessment of his acting ability. I doubt the show will miss your lack of viewership.

Fantastic news! Hoping the new writers can bring this character back to what it should be so that a wonderful EJ and Sami romance can be written.

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

So, are you happy to learn that Kristian Alfonso is back taping episodes surrounding Doug’s memorial episodes? Comment below.
