Jane Elliot To Exit General Hospital!

Courtesy/ABC

Courtesy/ABC

For quite some time now fans of General Hospital have heard the rumblings that Jane Elliot was preparing to walk away from her beloved role as Tracy Quartermaine.

Since bursting on to the GH scene back in 1978 and then leaving and returning, following a string of other memorable primetime and daytime roles, Elliot has left an indelible mark that will never be forgotten in our genre. Now comes word via Daytime Confidential that Jane has informed ABC and the General Hospital executives that she plans on departing the show at the end of her contract this spring.

Right now, Elliot has been in major story with Michael Easton’s Finn and Rebecca Budig’s Hayden, and is always embroiled in the Quartermaine family drama.  With Jane’s departure it would sure seem to signal a major end of an era for the Q Clan.

So, if this holds true and Jane leaves, how do you think Tracy should exit the canvas?  Will you be devastated by her departure? Share your thoughts in the comment section below!

I love Jane, she is a wonderful actress. I will miss her on GH.

Would be sad to see her go now that she has just begun to make up for all the
“crazy” years she was written, not as the strong-willed, forceful Tracy that she always had been, but as a weak vessel falling at the feet of “Fluke,” that incomprehensible character!

Paging Anna Stuart!!!!

Great idea, Jenny…..Love Anna Stuart ( Greelee’s mom and Vicki’s–AW).
I don’t want Jane to leave, but if she must, then Anna is a great choice. What would be the reason for Tracy to up and leave? There are already so many loose ends as it is…..a recast would be the way to go.
The irony would kick me in the rear if, Anna, as Tracy, would turn out to be Hayden’s bio mom and not Naomi. Together again?
Now, all we need is for Walt Willy to show up as Dr. Webber, Hayden’s and Lizzie’s father.

You mean Dr. Gina Dante…..as Anna Stuart was once known in the Port Charles sphere. Been there, done that, as far as this actress is concerned!

I will be sad when she leaves. Such an amazing and remarkable actress, Jane Elliot, you WILL be missed!

Recast Tracy with Robin Strasser, ex Dorian OLTL, she will be terrific as Tracy Quartermaine.

That would be PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!

She can not be replaced ! There are just some actors that leave an indelible mark.

No, Jane Elliot cannot be replaced. Maybe she will leave to join Luke, wherever he is.

My thought exactly!

I agree!

Absolutely not. You don’t replace Jane Elliot.

No you do not! She is a daytime icon!

There are some roles that cannot be recast. Tracy Quartermaine is definitely one.

I agree that Jane is not replaceable. However, the Q’s are on the endangered species list.
Bring in Robin Strasser and/or Erika Slezak as some long lost Q relative.
Then maybe Melissa Archer as someone’s daughter, also a long lost Q relative. Failing that bring back Skye Quartermaine.
Before someone screams that the cast is too bloated, I need to remind them that the Q’s are rapidly disappearing. Let us beef up the Q mansion!

You are so right, Steve. Some characters/roles are too memorable to replace.
But, I echo what Rhonda has said. It makes sense to recast.

Hi Rhonda…Robin and/or Erika would be perfect to pick up the slack. GH really needs to revamp its Q family; Ned should be a constant (always loved him), more Dillon (love him, too), Jason should return to his Q roots and bring in Sam and kids, Michael should be at the house more, Monica needs to be the grand dame of the house now and Skye Quartermaine should have returned for AJ’s funeral!!!! and should return now.

Personally, I could do without Melissa Archer. Never took to Natalie…

Robin Strasser and Erika? They’d fit right into the canvas. I do believe Robin’s been starving for work ever since the demise of OLTL and would welcome a return to daytime; not so sure Erika would be into another contract. But she could somehow be incorporated.

Losing Tracy is a biggie… 😉

She’s irreplaceable! Iconic role and actress that cannot be ever replaced! I hope she strolls off into the proverbial sunset with Luke….her one true love!

GREAT idea!

I like the long-lost Q relative(s) coming in, as Rhonda suggested.

Fing NO!

This is sad news. I have always enjoyed Jane Elliot. I will miss her. Unfortunately, her exit will only further the demise of the beloved Quartermaine family.

I hope Jane will consider returning for short cameos on important occasions. It’s time the Q’s repopulated with the younger generation anyway. They are all there – Tracy’s kids and Alan’s remaining son. As much as they want to get away from it, it’s time Jason, Ned & Dylan do their bit to bolster the family name. Was a poor decision to make the next generation such slackers when it comes to business.

My ideas – ELQ needs to buy Crimson, and put Nina & Dylan firmly in the circle of the Crazy Quartermaines. Lila’s little namesake needs to return with Skye – even if she’s not technically a Q by blood. With Michael & Ned running ELQ, Skye could come on to take a place on the hospital board. And, with her background, Griffin would finally get off Sonny’s back and find another reclamation project. Ned needs to marry Olivia because she would finally give the Q’s something they’ve been lacking – a REAL Italian Thanksgiving, with the best pizza they’ve ever tasted.

It’s difficult to find something for Jason to do because he isn’t the corporate type. Security/risk management for ELQ’s holdings? Or, maybe he can join Sam in her PI firm with Curtis.

Always like a good murder mystery exit with a poison pickle relish concoction..

gh will not be the same without tracy have watched gh from day one wish her the best

Ditto!

Heartbreaking .

Please leave it open so she could come back is that’s what she wants. Love Jane and her character, Tracy

I agree!

i don’t blame her. Get out while the getting is good. GOOD LUCK…enjoy your retirement.

Shes not jumping off a sinking ship! Shes retiring after a long, successful career.

LOL. Agree, Eileen!

Good Lord people read between the lines…connect the dots..eileen haggis I mean by all means go while the character is in a good place in her mind to leave the show. AND STOP YELLING AT ME IN ALL CAPS JK ROWLING LOL. Some people. Well I never.

THE LADY KNOWS WHEN TO RETIRE…..GH IS BETTER THAN EVER.

LOL, davelestev1…it’s all good but to be honest my first instinct was to agree with Eileen because it really did sound like you were implying GH isn’t that great…get out before it totally tanks. I think your words, “Get out” sorta set that tone.

Peace!!! 😉

Well I did mean while she was happy with the character. But to be honest the whole of the ship that was once daytime sunk with the end of world turns/guiding light and abc’s double cancellation. Jane Elliot isn’t on a sinking ship..she’s clinging to a piece of floating drift wood like Days cast. The once tall mighty ship that sailed across three channels of called daytime drama is now lying in a ship graveyard. Oh how morbid I am hee hee.

Nice visuals…imagery. Howeva…I only partially agree! Canceling so many soaps was the beginning of the end for the genre…and the abrupt cancellation of AMC (which I hadn’t watched in centuries, ahem…and my beloved OLTL was cruel and shocking. Cruel, because it came without warning and ripped a piece of history and continuity out from under viewers who watched for years.

But I must say I honestly think GH has been great lately. I think Jane’s leaving when the show is at its best it’s been in a long time. Still, that has nothing to do with it. She’s been said to have considered retiring for quite a while. And I do think she was even more motivated when Geary left. Same age group…same shared history. Gave her that extra umph she needed to actually do it. Sucks though…

I remember this phenomenal, uniquely beautiful actress steal every scene she was in back in the 1970s. She came and went from General Hospital but she made the soap opera villain a multi dimensional character. One that we loved to hate and we hated to love.

I don’t know the details of your departure but Godspeed to you and thank you for sharing your talent for so many years.

I say this with a heavy heart “you will be missed”

She is the back bone of GH! Who will fight with Monica? She been on GH as long as I could remember.
I think it is not a good move. Her character is quite important. Do not like it !!!

She wants to retire, its her choice. You want to change her mind on what SHE wants to do with her life??

Eileen, folks get to express their sadness and disappointment that Jane is leaving this role she has been playing for many many years without you admonishing them.
Do you not understand that this is a compliment to her as an actress?
You tend to come off as being combative which is puzzling to me.

Jane said she was retiring and why. A fan said make her stay. I simply commented it was the actress’s choice and why badger her. You cant understand that??I merely replied to a fan. No combat motive there. Its just silly to wish someone didnt feel the way they do.

Yeah, but Eileen, you to tend to shout down fans about how they feel, this is not the first time. This seems to be a pattern with you.

Good grief!! For the life of me, I can never understand why be so contrary.
Fans are just expressing their thoughts. Give us a break!!

@Rhonda.
Agreed, Rhonda…..Eileen is in the habit of talking down to fans….the same over at Y&R.

To not distract from Jane during her exit, if it is deemed that Mr. Geary return, let it only be for one episode.

An alternative “happy” ending has Larry Ashton returning for Ned’s wedding to Olivia F. Larry tells Tracy she’s the only woman he’s ever loved and legitimately has come into millions on dollars — her turn to live off him. Regardless, I hope Hugo Napier returns for at least one more scene of bickering.

When Tracy leaves, Who’ll remind Monica that Alan gave her that house (because he was an idiot).

Oh no, don’t get her struck with that low rent con Ashton again. If she has to go (sigh), better with her TRUE partner, Luke.

Really sad to hear this, but it wasn’t unexpected. Jane has come and gone many times over the years. I’m actually surprised she stuck around for 14 years on this go around. Loved all the stuff she did with Tony Geary. But other than the storyline where she got sick last year, they really haven’t had a lot for her to do since Tony left.

She’s one of the all-time soap icons and will definitely be missed. It’s sad to see how the once mighty and powerful Quartermaines have slowly dwindled down to almost nothing. But such is life, nothing lasts forever. Hope they give her a nice send off. And of course leave the door open for her to return.

Thanks for many years of entertainment, Jane! You’ve been a pleasure to watch.

And I HATED all the stuff she did with “him”! It destroyed the “real” character of Tracy Quartermaine. But she was just beginning to be written back as the original character–her acerbic nature softened, admittedly–but, judging from the recent interviews she has given, I think she didn’t mind the “softening.”

“HIM” won EIGHT Emmys!

well… I will miss her tons….but I will retiring from my job at 57…so can we blame her for wanting time to do whatever she has planned.

she has given us so much of her acting career and I am grateful to her for that

all the best

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If she feels that she can’t come back on reoccurring role from time to time then kill her off.
Or make her go off with Luke somewhere …
This way she had an open door if she wants to ever pop in.

I don’t wanna see anyone else as Tracy.

NOOOOOOOO! DON’T kill off a legacy character. Let her go off on a LONG trip to Tahiti or Rangoon or wherever. And Monica could mention her now and then–LOL!

Have her leave town with Luke and ride off into the sunset. They could bring Skye Chandler back to liven things up at the Q’s. I’m against a recast. Jane is Tracy Q.

The Amsterdam sunset. LOL.

Only if Tracy consumes another “space cake” by mistake, CeeCeeGirl!

@Shay.
APPLAUSE!! Good one!!

@Shay.
Hmmm, a nunnery. Will Ophelia be there?

Thank you, CeeCeeGirl!!!! As for your query regarding “Ophelia?” Why yes, I do believe she will be at that aforementioned nunnery…along with a more contemporary “character” who should also be “cloistered!”

@Shay.
You are naughty, ma belle. LOL
Hmmm. We should make a list of that particular ‘cloistered’ GH group.

WE SHOULD, CeeCee! And wouldn’t that be TOO much fun??????

awww no..

Jane Elliot / Tracy Quartermaine. My favorite!!!

I knew she would be leaving, I just knew it 🙁

Well, I’m happy for her, sad for me.

I really hope Luke, her love, will walk into the sunset with her.
It would be the end , or beginning, of their long time love story …
A perfect ending- goodbye …

Ah, that was nice, SUOO.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, Su0000, PULEEESE, no long walk off into the sunset with who-know-who! Let her leave with at least a shred of dignity–LOL!

You mean another long walk away on a foggy pier with that reprobate of an ex….thanks, but no thanks!!!! Tracy Angelica Quartermaine deserves far better than that fate. I hope JE’s departure will be an inspiring and uplifting one for her iconic character…rather than a doom and gloom ending. Always leave the door open for a visit from Tracy, but NO recasts, please!

Luke and her are a great exit for the fans.

Luke and Tracy are a love story..
they have loved each other for like forever (after laura)
they should be together at last..

She leaves for Luke who is ill and marries him off camera…

i first seen Jane Eliot who played a nun in Elvis’s last movie Change Of Habit…

One of my all time favorite movies– and Jane was wonderful as the spunky nun- and so young– wish her well in retirement.

I love that movie. Love Elvis. Jane is fabulous!

Maybe Tracy will decide to retreat to a nunnery!

Hmmmm, Jimmy. I wonder why Sally Field wasn’t cast as the nun ( and her nun’s cap and wimple, LOL) for that movie!?….

I thought I had seen all of Elvis’ movies. I don’t seem to remember that one, Jimmy. ….’gotta’ raid Gran’s stash. I must have missed that one.
But, I did watch “Escape from The Planet Of The Apes” with a then, 30-year-old, Eric Braeden.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! And UUGGHH! 🙂

I hate to see her leave but if she is it would be the perfect time for Luke to show up and the two of them take off together.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! (Am I repeating myself???? Well, so be it!

Grow up!

Well, to echo, Nancy, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
Traci deserves better than that.

Wow! You MUST be kidding! “Grow up?” Nancy (as well as the rest of us), can express her dislike for a character to her heart’s content. As for “growing up?” The amount of immaturity and cattiness that’s been displayed by the pot-calling-the kettle-black and friends… should take a seat and rethink that comment.

It is sad to see another legacy character leave their roles behind. I did not watch “Guiding Light” during JE’s era, but I loved her on “Days” as Anjelica. Jane has never been given the accolades she deserves as an actress. I think she is a powerhouse every time she is on the screen. Best of luck to your future and thank you for years of entertainment.

She was fantastic as “Carrie Todd Marler” on GL. She played multiple personality like no other. I’ll miss her on GH.

I loved GL during the days that Douglas Marland was the head writer and YES, Jane as Carrie Todd Marler was superb but short lived for there was some conflict between the producer Allen Potter and Douglas Marland and the storyline ended along with Douglas Marland leaving Guiding Light which was a downfall for Guiding Light. In my opinion Douglas Marland was the best head writer GL has ever had and Guiding Light won 2 emmys for best writing and show during Douglas time on GL..I don’t blame Jane Elliott for leaving for she was kind enough to give us all these years of her talent. Wishing you nothing but the best Jane and enjoy your free time.

Doug Marland was a master of using a show’s history to generate story as well as telling young love stories that could build the next generation.

Maybe she should return to “Days” as Anjelica – it might help that currently terribly written show and other people her character was involved with (Justin, Adrienne, Victor) are still on the canvas. The only one on there I TRULY enjoy now is Meredith Scott Lynn as nosy, fun Anne Millbauer.

she will be missed; a wonderful actor – has seen GH through the good and the bad. The character is needed on GH as she is the matriarch of the Quartermane family so a recast (using Robin Strasser, if possible) would be warranted. But her shoes will not be filled, only changed. Wishing her the best on her future endeavors. She was classy, brawny, smart and funny as Tracy – thanks for the memories.

My dear lady I hope when you exit you can say I did it my way!!! Good luck god speed!!!

Awwwww. Such sad news!!!! Wish you well, Jane.

I love Jane it’ll a sad day and an of an era for the quartermane the next genaration starts with michael let’s see how it goes

Oh man…so sad. I love Jane and Tracy 🙁

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! 🙂

Love Jane Elliot as a Tracy Quartemaine and she should not be recast! If Jane would like to retire or move on leave Tracy open for Jane to pop in. Storyline option could be Tracy going overseas to work for ELQ, expanding the market. Please keep Wally Kurt/Ned in Port Charles as we need as many “Q’s” to keep the legacy going!

Now, I DO like that idea of “going overseas to work for ELQ–would be keeping in character.

I’m very saddened by this news.
Jane please reconsider.
On the other hand if she does leave – might I suggest bringing back Skye Chandler Quartermaine to helm ELQ.

Maybe GH will give her a storyline she can’t resist. I hope!

Surprised she’s hung around this long. The writers at “General Hospital” have never been the least bit interested in re-invigorating the Quartermaine clan. Losing Alan and Edward was devastating, and bringing in Dylan and Ned part-time just didn’t cut it. Jane needs to leave and let the Quartermaines die with her. Another reason to jump ship from this mob-steered Titanic.

Don’t know if it’s the writers or the brass at ABC who have not been interested in re-invigorating the Quartermaines (given that this lack of interest has continued across numerous writing and producing teams, I would guess it’s ABC), but it’s certainly been a mistake, as has the continuing mob domination (which I also think comes from higher up).

As other people have said, this departure is not a big surprise–but what a loss for the show!

Maybe they’ll put Leslie Charleson back on contract (assuming she’s interested).

I agree Bill, NONE of the writing teams ever concentrated on PC’s FIRST FAMILY!

I hope they don’t kill Tracy. Could she go to be with Luke? I’d love that. Have Luke off Camera writing letters or calling her asking her to join him. Or let her meet some other man and go to meet him. Or have her go on a trip. But please don’t kill her. If Jane ever decides to make a short visit- maybe Ned or Dillon get married or whatever. I am sad she is leaving. I’ve never enjoyed the character as I do now. I”m sorry to see her go. And I agree if they recast Robin Strasser would be great.

A class act!

I was introduced to Tracy during her 2003 return and have loved the character ever since. Her battles with Skye were legendary and her fight and devotion for Luke is once in a lifetime.

Ms. Elliott, you are simply the best and I hope your send off is as epic as your return!

This is truly the end of the Quartermaine Era of GH….

See? That’s just it. Knowing the character of Tracy Q. as conceived and played from the beginning, she would never have stooped to THAT low level of fighting!

She withheld her father’s heart medication in a fight about his will, Tracy Q. never had a problem stooping low.

I’m sure a lot of soul searching went into Jane’s decision. Am wishing her the best in her new future. But I’m really going to miss Jane as Tracey Q. Hope they have a nice exit for her that doesn’t include Luke. And also hope there is potential for an occasional visit back to Port Charles that doesn’t require her signing a contract.

FINALLY, someone who agrees with me! “A nice exit that doesn’t include Luke.” Thank you, Rose!

Have Tracy find true love with a new man, not a recyled ex-husband.

And someone else who agrees with me! (I’m racking up–and feeling better–LOL!)
Now THAT’S a good idea–“true love with a new (strong) man” to match her strongness. I do like the sound of that!

Yes!

Jane Elliot cannot be replaced. There is only one Tracy Quartermaine. While I wish JE all the best in whatever she decides to do, I really wish she wouldn’t go. She and Tracy will be sorely missed. There will be such a huge hole on the canvass. And just as the Q’s were back on screen, what a shame.

I do hope they bring in some of the other Q characters with the same actors/actresses playing the roles. No one can replace or fill the void, but seeing more Q’s in PC would certainly soften the blow.

For those mentioning recast, it’s not an option. You can’t replace an actress who’s played the role (off and on) for almost 40 years! Regardless of who you brought in, viewers would never accept the new actress. Both Anna & Felicia were temporarily recast years ago and the newbies were quickly shuffled off.

And as for Robin Strasser, although she didn’t originate the role of Dorian, OLTL recast her for 3 years in the early 90s. Elaine Princi was a fine actress, but never really Dorian. Would Strasser be a good (temporary) addition to GH? – probably, but never as Tracy

I agree with you Steve. I absolutely remember when OLTL recast Dorian in the 90s. Ms. Princi never caught on with the fans because Robin Strasser so totally inhabits Dorian. Jane Elliot totally inhabits Tracy Quatermaine.

And yet Robin Strasser wasn’t even the original Dorian; there were two actresses who played Dorian before her (and the original actress, Nancy Pinkerton, definitely had a strong presence and put her mark on the role). So it’s possible, sometimes, for a recast to capture the viewers’ hearts and imaginations and become the definitive performer in a role, even if the role is strongly identified with another performer.

That said, I agree that Tracy is un-recastable. They should not try it, even with someone of Strasser’s talent. It would be a mistake.

I will miss Tracy. She is a big part of GH, but I wish her all the best.

It would be cool to see Jane return to DAYS and Justin’s (Wally Kurth) bed!

LOL…can’t see that. Never watched DAYS or saw them together in that capacity but after watching them as mother and son for so many years that would be just too freaky.

Oh, wow, rebecca! I had no idea….I just assumed 4ever was kidding around…love the humor.
Yes, I see your point. The notion would, definitely, be freaky. LOL.

yep…you know I”m all for older woman/younger man but, LOL, still would be strange for me after knowing them as mother and son from GH.

Again, LOL, rebecca, you have your own style of making laugh…too funny.
But, in defense of 4ever, if uou were familiar with the names and the characters, and their respective storylines, the synopsis would be clear enough.
I followed his backstory perfectly….some of the characters are still around.

Yeah, I was a little confused myself concerning Jack Devereaux . I didn’t know he was also known as Billie Johnson. And, I definitely did not know about Anjelica.
I learned something, thanks to 4ever. LOL.

LOL, 4ever….your humor never fails to make me chuckle. Why? You remind me of myself. I can see comedy in just about any given situation, if I try hard enough. HaHa!!
Actually, I would love to see Jane in any role, I love her that much. So, YES, bring it on!!

CeeCee…Not sure if you know this but though I never watched Days I read that Jane and Wally really did play lovers on that show!

Elliot portrayed Anjelica Deveraux on Days of Our Lives from 1987 to 1989; her character has an affair with the much younger Justin Kiriakis (played by Wally Kurth).

That’s why I responded that after seeing them as mother and son on GH the thought of that freaks me out!

Now I know you didn’t know, Celia, thanks to rebecca 1, but I was still being humorous knowing the full story.

Jane played Anjelica Deveraux who was Jack’s stepmother. Jack was really Billie Johnson who’s brother and sister are Steve and Adrienne.. Harper Deveraux and his wife had adopted Billie and named him Jack, but soon afterwards, Jack’s adopted mother died, then Harper married Anjelica.

Adrienne came to Salem looking for Steve and Billie. She sent for Jo (biological mother of all three). They were first reunited with Steve who grew up in an orphanage where he was forced to let go of his baby brother, Billie. They only wanted the baby and not his older mean brother. Adrienne was born after Jo gave the brothers up.

Eventually, they all realized Jack was Billie and they all were reunited, but Jack was already spoiled by the good life. He was a Deveraux! The Johnsons were TRASH as Anjelica would say.

Duke Johnson was Jo’s abusive husband and child abuser and ultimately raped his own daughter, Adrienne, after the family reunited minus Billie Jack.

Anjelica had sooooo much fun with all that. She not only kept Jack away from his family, but she went after Adrienne’s man. Justin’s oldest son’s mother is Anjelica.

If there was a silver lining to all of it, Anjelica realized she had been married to a serial killer referred to as The Riverfront Knifer. So, Jack had two crazy fathers!!

Interesting footnote: Jane originated the role of Anjelica, but the actress that plays Gloria on Y&R last played Anjelica.

Also, Jane starred on GH before DAYS, but Wally Kurth starred on DAYS before GH. The duo were first together on DAYS.

Oh my gawd…I just tried to follow that synopsis and am completely confused!!! That was the epitome of the stereotypical parody when describing a soap. Yikes!

Hahaha…CeeCee. It wasn’t 4ever’s fault…the story was just so convoluted that my brain froze about halfway in!

Thank you, so much, for the backstory, 4ever. I was a baby in ’87-”88, LOL. I am, more or less, well-versed in Days, but, I must confess, my grandmother never mentioned this story. I guess I didn’t ask the right questions? LOL.
Keep on posting, my friend. you know how much I enjoy your writing and humor.

I just hope they don’t kill off the character– but somehow I don’t see the character having a happy ending either— maybe it will be one of those open ended deals where the character has gone missing– wish Jane all the best and a huge thank you for entertaining us for so many years

Had to reply here…Change Of Habit is my favorite Elvis movie..liked Jane, Mary Tyler Moore and Barbara Mcnair (spelling) as the nuns…

Yes, a fun movie–and Elvis also looked great in it! 🙂

Speaking of your “favorites,” jimh, I just had to ask if you have been watching “Broadchurch3?” In the latest (and last) installment of the series, Julie Hesmondhalgh (aka, Corrie’s “Hayley Cropper) has a featured role. I couldn’t help but think of you whilst viewing her fine performance! (Hope you are well…)

this totally sucks! noooooooo, i can’t take this, hope she reconsiders…

CLASS ACT AND TERRIFIC ACTRESS…..WE WILL MISS HER BUT DO NOT TRY TO REPLACE THIS WONDERFUL WOMAN…..SHE MAY WANT TO RETURN NOW AND THEN….THIS IS A HUGE LOSS FOR G.H. AND THE VIEWERS….GOOD LUCK TO MS. ELLIOTT.

I’m very sorry to see Jane leave the show. She is one of my favorite characters and a wonderful actor. I wish her all the best and hopefully she’ll make a guest appearance once in awhile.

It’s glaring and a huge loss only, because they’ve fired or not put on contract a number of other Classic GH vets so there really is not a lot going on with the core families–how do you bring their kids into the forefront eventually if their parents aren’t around to introduce them and groom them with front burner stories like Days, B&B and Y&R.

Once Finola Hughes is gone, I likely won’t tune in ever again. The other Classic vets aren’t given enough to do to warrant it.

They should be grooming Maxie, Griffin, Michael, Dillon, Dante, Lulu, Lucas, Valerie, Molly (and maybe Jordan too) to take on leading some of the bigger stories. Elizabeth is front and center but with Franco as her leading man, it’s a joke to a majority of the audience. Carly and Sonny, especially Sonny, have had their day in the limelight and the audience is tired of them. Jason hopefully can get a second wind but I don’t know.

What’s going to happen to Hayden and Finn once Tracy is gone? Will they remain interesting?

Why is there no Ned or Duke?

I will never forget the scene in the late 1970’s when Tracy refused to give Edward his heart medication after a supssed heart attack. Riveting!

Now THAT was Tracy Quartermaine!

Still shocking and truly memorable after all these years

This is huge–hate to see her go, but please don’t kill the character. I’d go for a good re-cast and/or leave the door open for return guest appearances.

Very sorry to hear she’s leaving. There was no info provided as to why she wants to leave, so we don’t know if there’s a chance she’ll come back. I really started to like her character the past couple of years as she’s showed a more caring side, which for me has made her more likeable.

With her leaving, and having been the rock of the Quartermain family for some time, there’s honestly not going to be much left of a strong key family left. Michael’s too young, Ned hasn’t been put in key storylines and Jason is Jason so Sam and family is his focus. GH writers best bring the Buchanans into town to put down roots. Nora’s already there, let’s hope she gets a recurring role and brings Clint and the boys in!

Yesssss!

Too bad she is a real link with the past.

Sad to see her leave i think Kim Zimmer would also be a great Tracy if they choose a recast!

Jane has always been a treat to watch. As with Kin Shriner’s Scotty, you just enjoy the heck out of their scenes, even when there’s not much to play off of. It’s a real tribute to her ability to make the material entertaining and compelling–great range. I can honestly say that I never fast forwarded through any of her scenes, as her performances (regardless of the material she was asked to deliver) were always worthy. There’s no doubt in my mind that she made those around her better–your “A” game was always required when sharing the screen with Jane.

Way too early to contemplate a recast. Yes, it’s been done before with other beloved characters (kudos to Billy Miller, but I’m still not feeling it). As with Kin, Finola, Genie, et al, give them some time off canvas and maybe they recharge, or perhaps we can entice them back with a juicy storyline. Or maybe Jane will be gracious enough to reprise her role every so often to maintain story continuity. We’ll take what we can get!

This is very upsetting news. Jane Elliot’s Tracy Quatermaine is a very unique and unforgettable character. She is a force to be reckoned with just like Robin Strasser’s Dorian Cramer Lord.

If Jane has decided to retire, I say congratulations on an outstanding career and thank you for giving viewers such tremendous entertainment. I certainly hope TPTB aren’t going to kill Tracy. Hopefully, Jane will be open to dropping by for short visits now and then.

I also feel bad for Leslie Charleson. She must be getting pretty lonely.

Unfortunately, Leslie isn’t on enough to be lonely. They throw her in every few weeks for a few snippets of dialogue.

Rebecca, thank you again for YOUR humanity (re your rebuttal to the uncharitable reply someone made to my light-hearted NOOOOOOOOO!). You’re a real sweetheart. So glad we enjoy posting together. Take good care–and thanks again. 🙂

You’re welcome, Nancy. I’ve had a lotta “rumbles” LOL on this site with certain someones…’nuff stress in life and real problems, yes?

See ya on the next post!

On recent episodes of General Hospital, Carly (Laura Wright) came to John “Jagger” Cates (Adam Harrington) rescue as he was beaten down in an assault. Carly put on her “nurses cap,” sort of speak, and got John to his hotel room and watched over to him, to make sure he didn’t lose consciousness.

GH fans also got their first glimpse of what may be a new romance for Carly, if she and John continue to bond.  If John and Carly were to have a relationship, it would certainly have a ripple effect with Jason (Steve Burton) and Sonny (Maurice Benard).

Adam J. Harrington shared his view on the scenes and what might be next between the two. Speaking to Soap Opera Digest, Harrington shared, “I thought it was written in a way where there’s an understanding and a respect between them both. I don’t think there was any moment where she was not aware that he’s an FBI agent, and there was no moment that he wasn’t aware of her history and relationship to other people in the town. I really liked it. I was really looking forward to shooting it with Laura and we had a really nice time shooting it.”

When Carly and John part ways, it seems there were some romantic sparks, as Harrington puts it, “Isn’t that interesting that sometimes with people, the one moment they actually show how they feel is when they know there’s an escape hatch. They know they’re about to walk away. So, it’s almost safe in that moment to do it. I thought that was really special about how (the writers) handled John and Carly. Even the music in that scene was beautifully done.”

Where is this all heading? Conflict! Internally and professionally, and as Adam explains, “Who Carly was to John on paper as just a tool to be used as bait is starting to get very complicated.”

General Hospital’s Steve Burton Reveals the Emotional Scene He Almost Could Not Get Through

On a recent episode of General Hospital, Jason received a message from his mother, Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson) via a note. The effect it had on Jason’s portrayer, Steve Burton turned out to be quite visceral.

As GH fans know, although Jason’s bio-mom was Susan Moore, he was raised and adopted by Monica. Speaking on his Daily Drama podcast with his co-host and GH co-star, Bradford Anderson (Spinelli), Steve shared some insight on the difficulties he had getting through that scene.

Burton shared that in the key moment, “Brooklyn (played by Amanda Setton) came in and that’s where she gave me (Jason) the letter from Monica. That was a very hard scene for me to do. That was a tough one. That was the one time I was almost going to call ‘cut!’  It read ‘Jason, I believe in you.’ I was literally going to walk off the set.”

To clarify and in the story, Monica was saying “I believe in you” and that she knows Jason didn’t shoot Dante (Dominic Zamprogna). Steve added, “It was tough, man. Emotionally, it was a tough scene. It was overwhelming in the moment.”

Steve went on to detail to Anderson, “She (Brook Lynn) pushed it to me and I read it and she was walking out and I had to stop her, but I was so emotional I couldn’t even get it out.  And at that point, I’m like, ‘Do I just keep going … or do I just walk off the set right now?’ But, I knew just to stay, because it’s so hard to get back there, once you shut it down. I knew, the next take wasn’t going to be the same.”

It’s clear that Leslie Charleson is so missed on-screen as Monica by all of her castmates, and that Jason and Monica had a very special mother/son relationship throughout the decades on GH.

What did you think of the moment when Jason got a note from Monica that said, “I believe in you?” Were you touched as well? Let us know in the comment section. You can check out the latest episode of Steve and Bradford’s podcast below.

Clearly, it seems that Carmine will be a part of Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s wedding.  Will it go off without a hitch? Are you looking forward to it? Stay tuned.

Who else would you like to see attend the nuptials? Gloria Cerullo (Ellen Travolta), any other blasts from the pasts who should be present? Let us know in the comment section.
