Jimmy Kimmel Jabs Snoop Lion For Writing and Producing New Theme Song and Fans of OLTL!

Hell hath no fury like soap fans, Jimmy Kimmel!  The late night talk show host of ABC”s Jimmy Kimmel live apparently thinks there is only one, count em, one fan who will be watching the new One Life to Live when it premieres on April 29th!

In his opening monologue on last night’s episode, Kimmel poked fun at Snoop Lion (formerly Snoop Dog) for writing and producing the new theme song of the revival of One Life to Live!

Kimmel then says Snoop, who had changed his name several times, is now going to have to change his name to “Middle Age Housewife” and it goes on from there!

Watch the clip after the jump and then let us know what you thought?  Offensive to One Lifers?  Weigh-in!

All in good fun! Could turn out to be a good thing, at least some more people will be aware of OLTL coming back. And let’s face it….when one thinks of daytime soaps, Snoop Dogg, or Lion, does not immediately come to mind. Seems like an unlikely pairing, but that just goes to show the power and appeal of OLTL.

Meh, I thought it was kinda funny…and the comment about 1 person watching was more about the apparent incongruity of liking both Snoop and OLTL, not really about the estimated audience for OLTL. *puts away torch and pitchfork*

Agree. Nothing to get all bent out of shape over.

Exactly.

Once I saw the video I wasn’t offended at all, twitter made is sound like he was bashing OLTL. Snoop with OLTL is a strange combination, especially if you don’t know that he has guest stared before. If it highlights OLTL, I don’t see how it could hurt.

Who cares what ABC thinks, they know they screwed up by canceling OLTL. They’re just bitter.

Absolutely agree.

I agree with you Lynn!

hey free publicity for the return of OLTL can’t hurt

Makes OLTL even MORE POPULAR!

Pretty sure he didn’t say only one person would watch. He said only one person who watches One Life to Live is also a Snoop Dogg fan. Probably about right, those aren’t demographics with a great deal of intersection.

I watched OLTL 5x a week for almost 3 decades and saw Jimmy Kimmel once when he was on Entourage….

Well this is one person that will be watching OLTL and I won’t nor have I ever watched Jimmie Kimbrel -lol!!

DITTO

Double Ditto!

Wasn’t Snoop Dog on OLTL a few times a s a friend of Bo and Nora’s? I didn’t like the reference to the one fan. The rest was fine.

Yes he was! He and Bo have history.

I have to agree some what with Mrs. Rafferty & Advidreader. The biggest problem is his statement 1 fan. He needs to understand that OLTL has millions of followers & they range from children to Seniors not just middle aged housewives. There is where he stepped on my toes. I don’t watch Kimmel anyway & now never will. It is possibly good for OLTL to bring Snoop’s fans on board. Mr. Kimmel needs to know how much soap opera fans love their soaps. Might just tell him myself.

It’s his job. He wasn’t knocking OLTL but just poking fun at the unlikely pairing of Snoop and OLTL. I see nothing wrong with it.

And when he Pokes fun at GH make sure you say the same thing!

I absolutely would because I wasn’t offended in the least by what he said. Even if he was making fun on OLTL (which I don’t think he was) I wouldn’t be offended. Please, offended because someone makes fun of a show I watch? Uh, never happen. It’s is just a show.

After you go threw what we went thru to get our shows back then to have some idiot like Kimmel make comments like ONE FAN, I don’t care how he meant it, Middle aged housewife was childish too, you would be “Offended” too…..

I like Jimmy Kimmel and think he was just having some fun with Snoop Dog and One Life to Live. If you think about it, if you have never watched One life, it does give the impression that the soap revolves around “One Life” and I think this is why Jimmy made his remark about “One person” watching. Hope this helps to promote the return of this soap … and I will be “one person’ watching it!!!!!! LOL!!!!

It was funny, and OLTL finally got a reference from main streem so they should be gratefull.

Grateful? We should be grateful to ABC?

I think it was rather amusing and derogatory at the same time. Jimmy was obviously mocking soaps…and Snoop for being associated with one, while insinuating neither had many fans. He also pokes fun with Dancing With the Stars, which I LOVE…but still the couple voted off goes on his show to have their “dancing shoes” officially thrown into the fire. Like everything, if you’re a fan of a person or a show, etc…your view won’t be changed. Likewise, if you’re not a fan…it just reinforces your negative opinion. And…I do like Jimmy.

I understand this brings the OLTL relaunch info to a wider audience and that he was doing this all in good fun. BUT…I don’t like that he continues to perpetuate incorrect stereotypes by saying Snoop’s name should now be “middle-aged housewife”. If our fight has proven anything, it’s that MANY people from all walks of life watch these shows, not just midd’e-aged housewives.

Maybe Jimmy should keep his mouth shut…..He’s an idiot! Isn’t ABC his boss??? Enough said about him then isn’t it?

Hey, now even more folks know OLTL will be coming back on and that it’s on the Internet. Free publicity is great! Plus, mayb some Snoop fans will tune in just to hear it and get hooked like the rest of us! All great stuff! Snoop is a big fan of the show and has been a guest star a few times so its all good! Can’t wait!

I fall into the “any publicity is good” category. Kimmel was jabbing Snoop more than he was OLTL. As with the housewife jab-that’s just something we need to continue to fight. All in all, there’s nothing to see here-move along…

OLTL’s return has been all over the various media! Any publicity for it is good publicity! I like OLTL being on peoples lips! Jimmy Kimmel probably secretly watches it too! His dirty little secret! lol

Yeah!

not cool Jimmy Kimmel….not cool at all

Well, the soap audience has always been stereotyped as for ‘housewives and seniors..
True or not, they have been typed..
But now, PP is trying to undo that imagine of soap operas..
And the ssoaps have been made fun of by comedians since forever .. LOL
most all started out as younger women in the 70’s and 80’s watching but they grew old along with 40/50 year old soaps lol ..
wow a half of century aging with the soaps..
BUT, many many new younger have joined in and always will join in to carry the torch on hopefully for the next 50yrs!
Long Live The Soaps !!!!!
((all publicity is good publicity.. And Snoop can bring it on!!

I can’t stand Kimmel.

I wouldn’t listen to whatever someone who dated Sarah Silverman said … about anything.

Jimmy pokes fun at everyone but means no harm. However, won’t ABC be eating a lot of crow when they find out how well OLTL does on line, while no one is watching their “Chew” or “Katie”….Oh, what a price ABC is still paying for their big faux paux.
That’s what they get for hiring Frons from Hell!!!!

Karen, Frons did not cancel anything he just did not speak up when it came to the shows. I used to blame him too, but facts are facts ABC/D are the ones that cancelled the shows not BF, For AMC & OLTL to thrive on will be the BEST REVENGE on ABC!!

I love it that they would have that low life snoop sing anything! Desperation that 3 time super felon yeah way to go PP line yourself up with this D/bag!

What does that have to do with anything?

He is an idiot, all OLTL fans love snoop aka Calvin!

It’s great advertising, though! Lots and lots of people now know about the online soaps.

Take that, Kimmel!

Jimmy who????

Jimmy Kimmel is a comedian. And he’s also RIGHT! I’m a 41 year old black male, and am horrified and disgusted that this slug (AKA Calvin Cordozar Broadus, Jr., AKA Snoop Doggy Dogg, Snoop Dogg, and Snoop Lion) is STILL being associated with the show!

What the hell is wrong with PP/TOLN!?

Consider this, from WIKIPEDIA:

“In 2002, he released the album Paid tha Cost to Be da Bo$$, on Priority/Capitol/EMI Records, selling over 1,300,000 copies. The album featured the hit singles “From tha Chuuuch to da Palace” and “Beautiful”, featuring guest vocals by Pharrell. By this stage in his career, Snoop Dogg had left behind his “gangster” image and embraced a “pimp” image.”

The (illiterate) criminal/thug life ‘image’ being sold as the only viable option for black American males, while also being commercially exploited by ‘Dogg-Lion’ and his ilk is one of the most damnable, venal, sickening and pathetic things to come out of the entertainment/pop culture industry in the last 15 years, and this man has been one of it’s prime peddler’s!

Hey there, P.P. Charles Manson, apparently, fancied himself a musician, once upon a time. Why not see if he’s written anything that could be suitable for a theme song?

How about using some of John Wayne Gacy’s ‘clown’ artwork to hang in Llanfair, while you’re at it?

What in the HELL are you talking about? Sounds like someone is jealous to me.

LMFAO Troy!! Good one LOL

Could have been worse….could have been Rick Ross associated with the show…imagine that (lol).

Jimmy Kimmel? You mean Ben Stein’s unfunny former game show sidekick is still on TV?

Joel McHale shows that you can poke a little fun at the genre in an entertaining way on The Soup, occasionally showcasing some of soaps’ goofier moments with actual clips.

Apparently all Kimmel can do is play to old, outdated stereotypes to try to get a laugh.

But hey, if those idiots on The Chew have managed to stay employed, it shouldn’t be a surprise that Kimmel is considered a talent by the same network execs.

LOL

I am no Jimmy Kimmel fan, but from what I have seen of him…he poke fun at lots of things, so I don’t see the harm in what he said…he is a comedian after all. I agree with the post that says he provided OLTL with free publicity! Those of you who are upset by this, just relax, it will be fine…you know that there are more fans that watch OLTL than just ONE for crying out loud…just be happy OLTL will be back on…can we all just enjoy and celebrate the return of our soap…No time to be angry…April 29th is almost here baby! woohoo!

On one hand, what did you expect from an ABC ignorant? B) He at least told viewers we are back, C) Don’t talk about something you obviously know nothing about, D) He recently did a “Back to Brooklyn” show right after Sandy hit. He lived in my friends home yrs ago. They welcomed & FED the whole camera crew, for free all day, & in return got nothing, barely even a thanks. HOW RUDE!!!! We weren’t even acknowledged in the audience. I had to apply for tickets for us, like everyone else. He did comp them a few the first night. Woopie….To make things worse, outside the studio, you had to stand against the wall and a bird dumped on her head TWICE!

JIMMY HAS DONE THIS TO SNOOP BEFORE ,THE LAST TIME SNOOP WAS ON OLTL COULDN’T CARE LESS WHAT HE THINKS MY SOAPS COMING ,THANKS FOR THE VEDIOS I’M ENJOYING ,I SO MISS VICTOR N TEA I CAN HARDLY WAITE. WHO WOULD MISS A KNOTHEAD LIKEBACK JIMMY LIKE THAT? AND I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO HEAR SNOOPS SONG,

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa

Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).

Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.

Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode.  It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”

Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it.  I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

In a statement, Debra O’Connell, President News Group and Networks, Disney Entertainment shared, We could not be more thrilled with how Mark has seamlessly joined the show family as permanent co-host. His undeniable charisma and his and Kelly’s natural chemistry are evident as they deliver the laughs and smiles to our viewers each morning. We are incredibly proud of how Live has continued to evolve and that the audience is responding so enthusiastically.”

So, do you think Mark Consuelos is the best co-host his wife Kelly Ripa has ever had on ‘Live’? How would you say he is doing as co-host after one full year on the job? Comment below.
