Katie Couric's First Guests Revealed For Premiere of Her New Talker, "Katie"!
The first guests have been revealed for the new Katie Couric syndicated talker, Katie that is set to debut September 10th, the same day General Hospital moves into its new time slot one hour earlier!
Couric is set to chat with Jessica Simpson and Sheryl Crow (who wrote and performs the show’s theme song, “This Day”) on her first episode. The second episode will feature an exclusive interview with Aimee Copeland, the 24-year-old Georgia graduate student who lost parts of all her limbs to a rare flesh-eating bacteria this summer.
Other celebrity guests scheduled for the show’s first three weeks include: Barbra Streisand, Jennifer Lopez, Heidi Klum, Susan Sarandon, Chelsea Handler, Sofia Vergara, Fifty Shades of Grey author E L James, Demi Lovato, and Wendy Williams.
Couric will also sit down with the mother and sister of murdered college lacrosse player Yeardley Love, and Raffaele Sollecito, Amanda Knox’s Italian ex-boyfriend who was acquitted of murder.
So what do you think of Crow and Simpson as Katie’s first guests? Excited? Boring? Don’t care? Which guests booked on the new talk show strike your fancy from the list in the first three weeks of the new series? Let us know!
Jessica Simpson, really? All these guests are B list. Not that I really care, I will not watch Katie – wouldn’t watch even if she was not “bumping” GH. I really cannot tolerate her and these guests are a big yawn
I won’t be watching. I don’t want to be a part of any ratings 🙂
Those guests for the first show zzzzzzzz don’t really care to much. I like Barbara & Chelsea but again NOT WATCHING as she drives me NUTSO as well
She’s in my Oprah file. Not watching. Took two soaps to pay her salary.
I agree. Will never watch. Boring.
Yawn….Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.
Don’t care. Only read this article to see if she included any soap stars. None, so I’m done. Won’t be watching anyway.
I agree. Doesn’t she realize she NEEDS GH. Just like Oprah needed GH at the start!
Just more of the same. Would much rather have our shows back. And WHY are they moving GH? Just put Katie on after the Chew & leave GH where is has been forever.
I don’t understand either. Out here in Los Angeles we will have that nasty THE CHEW air before GH so that almost guarantees NO lead-in audience. 🙁 I guess at least DR OZ follows GH so maybe they will get something from his audience. Hopefully anyone that watches OZ will tune out of KATIE so things can get back to normal.
Don’t Care – Will never watch her! No OLTL – No ABC!!
Zzzzzzzzz …… Who in the world would watch this drivel??
Sheryl Crow is a nice woman. She has been through many things.
Jessica Simpson? What is she going to talk about? How she gained so much weight in her pregnancy and now she is on some INSANE timetable to lose it all via some commercial weight loss program. I don’t care. I gained weight with both my pregnancies. Nothing Earth-shattering about that. I just don’t have all the money she does to just “pay” to make it go away. I had to make healthy changes.
As for the other guests? Some big names, but that is just to get eyeballs watching. Mine will not as I have stated since the beginning. She definitely has me turned off with the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Chelsea Handler plus who really cares about Raffaele Sollecito? They should be talking to the parents of the murdered woman not some guy who was lucky enough to get acquitted.
I do not wish this show any success. I hate that it will exist on TV at the expense of so many other soap operas that add entertainment and not just shock value and things we have heard over and over again. Why couldn’t this have just been sold to one of the syndicated outlets (like Rachel Rae has) instead of going national like this? I just don’t like it. Nothing against Katie Couric, but we just do not need another talk show.
“Katie” isn’t One Life To Live – don’t care who she has on. Won’t be watching.
Won’t watch! Took OLTL and AMC off, so will not watch ANY Replacement shows EVER!!!
Only watching GH on ABC daytime!
Is there a reason all the ones listed are women? Is she going to interview any men?
Oh, Holly! You missed the mention of the lovely Raffaele Sollecito, “Amanda Knox’s Italian ex-boyfriend who was acquitted of murder.” Who would care one iota what that CREEP had to say? Not to mention, that story is OLD news.
Sick and tired of the entire talk show genre. Boring!! What could this show possibly bring to TV that isn’t already covered? I’ll watch CNN or Fox for news, I don’t care about celebs and their new movies, and I trade new books with friends and family, I don’t need to hear about someone else’s drama (ala Dr. Phil). I want escape for a little while from the real world with my soaps (rip OLTL).
Furthermore, the concept of this show makes no sense to me. Celebs and authors on promotional tours have already been featured on ABC’s GMA or Live with Kelly in the mornings. Why would we want to see them again in the afternoon (judging by these comments, not many people are interested. Just saying).
It seems that many people will not be tuning in to Katie, including me! The last thing the daytime airwaves need is another boring talk show. That would be reason enough to not watch, but when you add in the millions of dollars that she received from ABC/D that could have gone a long way in preserving and promoting AMC and OLTL, there’s not a snowball’s chance in hell that I would give her show ratings! Still watching only GH on ABC/D!
I give her six weeks and she is off. Boring.
if Katie wants to show that she’s a GH supporter, then she should have some of their stars as guest, or, do a behind the scenes look of GH new regime,.
She and TPTB are completely clueless. I give this show three months, before ABC is really scratching their heads wondering what in the hell they are going to do to replace it. Although we all have the answer to that….bring OLTL back!
You are right Torrey OLTL!!!!!!!! At least revive one of the soaps if they can’t do both….I choose OLTL………..
I don’t see the value or benefit of a new talk show, reality show, fashion show, cooking show. Just because it’s Katie doesn’t mean she’ll bring in the ratings. The Today Show was successful…back then…much time has passed and her luster has faded. No different than Oprah…she lost her luster once she left ABC or the OWN network would be successful and profitable. But neither are true. I think the executives have lost ‘common sense’ and a touch for what daytime watchers want. If a soap fan misses an episode, we’ll go online to catch up. If someone misses Katie or the Chew, they just wait till tomorrow…or not.
I also don’t think her latest promo for her show is helping things. I absolutely HATE it when someone puts fliers on my car. Ha! Ha!
Will not be watching.
I don’t care who Katie has on her show ….. I won’t watch it !!!!! NEVER!!!!!!
I too read this to see if she included any soap stars. Why am I not surprised. I can’t stand her, as far back as the Today Show. Don’t know who she’s been keeping happy to stay gainfully employed all these years. I will not be watching her show and hope it tanks in the ratings.
