Kyle Lowder On His Exit From DAYS: “So Grateful To Have Returned Over The Past Year To The Place Where It All Started For Me”

Photo: JPI

It will be a wrap on-air for Kyle Lowder next week at Days of our Lives.  The actor who came back to the NBC soap opera, where he first appeared as Brady Black from 2000-2005, and this go-round has taken on the role of Rex Brady beginning in 2018, will be exiting the daytime drama series.

In the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest on newsstand now; they have an interview with Lowder on his surprising departure.

On Friday, Lowder shared his thoughts on his exit from Salem via his Instagram account expressing: “One more week! Man, this has been fun. So grateful to have returned over the past year to the place where it all started for me, almost two decades ago. This show, and everyone associated with it, both in front of and behind the camera, will always be very special to me. My most sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the powers that be at @nbcdays and @nbc . And of course to all of you, the fans, for your unbridled love and enthusiasm. You remind me every single day of why I truly love what I do. Farewell, and thank you.”

In story, Rex has had an on-again off-again relationship with Sarah Horton (Linsey Godfrey), and she, despite herself, found herself attracted and falling for his brother, Eric, played by Greg Vaughan.  Just how will Rex leave the canvas? Stay tuned.

So, sad to see Kyle leaving Salem one more time in his soap opera career?  Do you hope he will return again one day, in perhaps, yet another role, if not as Rex? Share your thoughts via the comment section below,

Ya; had read a while ago he was leaving. Not happy…gorgrous looking, really good actor taken off the canvas…along with characters Claire, Tripp, Chloe, the recently departed Abigail, Chad, Lucas..they can start Days of Our Lives part Deux..that cast will soon be larger than the show they were fired from!
Will miss seeing the stunning “Rex” in Salem. He wasn’t given good material. Wasted his talent… Looking forward to his next projects.

I really liked him as Rex! He made some very funny acting choices that made him a loveable loser. But he was a victim of Ron C’s plot driven writing. Rex was not so much a character as he was an appendage…a plot device to manufacture drama where there really didnt need to be any. His acting skills have grown immeasurably and he could have been a worthwhile leading man in his own right with more nuanced writing. He looks better than he did when he started on Days almost 20 years ago. It is to his credit, and Eric Martsolf (who has fully become Brady), that I never saw him as former Brady. He really became Rex. I hope he lands on a show that can fully utilize his talents.

Wow this is a shock.Never saw this coming .Well perhaps Sara will be with Eric now,Hey I saw Linsey Godfrey in two Lifetime movies this past week she had a baby girl I believe she called her Sara. She was the victim in both movies.Maybe Kyle will be in some Lifetime movies too.Check them out there have been a lot of starts from Days in Lifetime movies I even saw Nicole in a couple of them.Sorry to see Kyle leave.Didn’t last to long.

I wasn’t watching Days when Kyle was on before, so I have nothing to compare to.
I gotta say, I was not impressed with the Rex character, so I’m not sad he’s leaving. Nothing against KL, but I didn’t like Rex OR his love interest Sarah. I just wish he was taking Sarah with him when he goes. I like her even less than Rex!
I’m a little behind in watching the show, but I’m guessing they are going ‘there’ with Eric & Sarah? Oh well, that’s OK. I can just FF all their scenes together.

He should be recast as Drew on GH!

He’s probably in the right age group, but he looks more like he would be Shiloh’s brother than Jason’s. And Shiloh doesn’t need any family, considering he’s lucky if he’s not in Hell by Labor Day.

Sure hope you aren’t serious! After this last fiasco as Rex, where he played an absolute ass, the mere thought of him as Drew makes me nauseas. I’d rather they just let Roger Howarth keep playing Franco, who thinks he’s Drew.

So 8/2/2019 is the last time we will see him after he left Victor’s house?

No, he showed up at Eric’s apartment and they will have a fight from the previews I saw.

I’m sad that Kyle Lowder is leaving daytime again! Honestly, the idea of him taking on the role of Rex Brady was fantastic, and brought great depth, not only to the role, but to the soap’s canvas. However, the character was written on a one-note flatline, and unfortunately just did not go anywhere. It’s an unfortunate case of poor writing choices. Hoping Lowder can return down the line!

So Sorry to see you leave ;-(
Will miss you – Again !!!
Hopefully YOU’LL be Back☺

he can always return…but Days and GH need writing improvement…Y&R stays focused on its vets and keeps the show more down to earth and stays no1 that way…cheap lazy writing hurts Days and GH…

I’ll miss Rex and Kyle. Hopefully he can return.

I hope his departure doesn’t mean dopey-mopey Eric and lackluter 15th-Century Sarah are now on their way to becoming a couple?
Eric has a knack for coveting other men’s women, albeit Rex deserves it. Cheating on one’s mate, never ends well.
Beside the fact that Nicole is alive…..at least, maybe? Eric came alive with her. So did she–pardon the double-entendre.
Aside—–Will Stefan ( love Brandon) be blamed for Ted’s death? Getting silly now—the entire Tony-is-alive/Kristin/fake Nicole thing is not entertaing—bring Susan back, please, but in the form of Eileen Davidson.

Celia
I have been looking all over for you! Hope you are on vacation having a great time with your family. I thought I’d never get back, after I botched up my Email. My granddaughter seems to have gotten me squared away though, but I have to tell you I was having MFtv withdrawal symptoms there for a while. Lots of good stuff happening, especially on GH. Yes, we lost Billy Miller, but the up coming SLs look promising. Will be looking forward to hearing from you, about your summer escapades.

Hi, Miss Violet,
I am on the island….it is brutal—usually, this time of year it isn’t so crowded as student are be gone by now—-but it’s black week on MV and Obama is here—-so, as you can imagine—-we picked the wrong time to have a reunion.
I am very glad you’re all set– high-five to your granddaughter—-
I will definitely keep you posted when I have a little breathing time, my love…
❤️Stay well…..

Somebody please feel free to co4ect me if I am wrong. But was he the actor who played Rick Forrester when they had the 5 minute storyline of Rick and Taylor’s affair? Just wondering.

soapqueenforever
Yes, pretty sure he was still playing the part then, and also was the cause of Steffy’s twin Phobie’s death in a car crash.

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Photo: FOX

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

Kristian Alfonso Returns to Days of our Lives for Tribute to The Late Bill Hayes

After a few weeks of Days of our Lives fans being upset that Kristian Alfonso (Hope Williams) was not on the first list of initial returns for Doug Williams’ funeral and episodes honoring his portrayer, the late Bill Hayes, comes word that the popular star is back and taping scenes.

Kristian reported to work on the Peacock streaming soap opera on Monday, April 22nd. She shared how important it is for her to be back for this particular return to the show that made her a household name.

“My return is very bittersweet,” Alfonso told TV Insider,  “because it is the end of an era with Bill gone. So to return to Days is very sad. I am appreciative that they came to me to include me in their series of shows honoring Doug and I’m very happy to see everyone, but I’m entering the studio with a heavy heart.”

Photo: JPI

It was back in 1983 that Kristian first debuted as Doug’s daughter, and now 41 years later looking back at it, and her time with Bill Hayes is very emotional for her.

“I remember my first scenes with him/ He was very loving, very welcoming. That he was very talented and an incredible actor and an icon, that all goes without saying, but my personal relationship and my working relationship with Bill, it was home,” expressed Alfonso. “Doing the scenes with Bill, I felt like I was with my dad because there was so much warmth and reality.”

Photo: JPI

Alfonso did express some deep regret, in that she had wanted to work with Bill Hayes during her last appearance on the soap back in 2023, but according to the iconic actress, there was something in the works but it never materialized.  “I’m sad that I did not get the opportunity to do the storyline that Ron (Carlivati, head writer) had planned/ It was great; we returned to Salem to reunite with our families and I would have had father/daughter scenes with Billy. What Ron had written was beautiful and emotional and it was a fantastic story. I was 100 percent for it and the fans would have loved it.”

Photo: JPI

As for if Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope will be back on-screen together anytime soon, Kristian would only say, “What I will say is don’t give up hope.” Doug’s passing and memorial episodes will stream later this year come late November into December.

So, are you happy to learn that Kristian Alfonso is back taping episodes surrounding Doug’s memorial episodes? Comment below.
