Lisa Rinna Leaving Days Of Our Lives To Focus On Other Projects!

Courtesy/NBC

Wow!  It certainly feels there is a mass exodus, or the start of another phase of one, these days with big names in daytime!

Today, The Huffington Post revealed that Lisa Rinna who just returned to her role as Billie Reed on Days of our Lives in March of this year has decided its time to leave Salem already!

Rinna will now take time to develop a bunch of projects she is working on including a proposed shot at a panel talk show!  Here is what Huff Post said: “Lisa is leaving so she can do all of the 500 other things she loves to do.  She’s working on her Belle Gray line for QVC, she’s writing another diet and fitness book, plus she’s developing a vitamin supplement line and lingerie line,” a friend of the actress told me. “She’s also in talks to do a panel-type talk show.”

So what do you think about Rinna leaving DAYS? Billie hasn’t even had a major story since Rinna’s return!  What panel-type talk show, could she be in talks with?  Thoughts?

Wait, Billie was still there? I thought she left months ago.

Yeah, I’m with Robert. I thought she was already gone. The whole time she was there all she did was sit by Bo’s bedside and snoop through EJ’s papers. Who’ll miss her? They didn’t use her while they had her. Jupiter! She could still do all those “500 other things” with all the time off the show’s already giving her.

thought she was long gone too…………..

I thought they would’ve paired her with Daniel, given all their flirting. But when Dicole happened, she disappeared from our screens.

That was my thought exactly, Robert. Now I don’t have to read the rest of the comments!

lisa rinna made the right decision to leave. no big storyline for her. lisa is moving on to bigger projects. i wish lisa rinna well. hopefully her talk show panel gets picked up. recast billie with julie pinson again. i liked julie in the role of billie reed.

I thought she was already gone, just still in the credits. Days wasted her again this time around. I wish her well in all her endeavors.

As long as Lucas is around, I can take or leave the rest of Kate’s offspring.

I’m sure she would’ve stayed if they gave her actual story. But I guess it’s hard to write for Billie anymore. But it was nice seeing Billie/Austin/Kate/Lucas all together again!

Well to be honest i’m not sad to see her go. Billie Reed’s return didn’t add much to the show and she seems pretty useless to me. Maybe with a decent storyline but this time around i really didn’t like her.

I wonder if Bo Brady (played by Peter Reckell) is going to end up leaving with Bille (Lisa Rinna) on Days of Our Lives. Hmm. Billie has won again.
We all are waiting to see how Peter Reckell will be written out of the show. His character of “Bo” is very popular.
So glad Days of Our Lives has brought back Joseph Mascolo as “Stefano”. That was a major surprise to me the other day when I saw him on the serial.
I wonder if Eileen Davidson will turn into the devil again?

Boy that woman sure is fickle. I remember a few years ago when she was in the street stopping traffic so she could get a job on the Melrose Place reboot.

I thought she was desperate for an acting job. I guess since appearing on CELEBRITY APPRENTICE her dance card has gotten full again. 🙂

Very happy to see her go. Never liked her as Billie.

Lol, she was rude to Jo Mascolo in some interview.

Well……..that was a waste.

So:

Jack, Madison, Austin, Carrie, Melanie, Bo, Ian, Lexie all go this year, plus now Billie.

What is going on? They can’t keep doing this in and out thing with the actors. It’s so disruptive to the flow and a detriment to their storytelling. Stick to what (and who!) you’re committing to!

Oh and Rafe, Gabi and Roman stay.

I agree that Gabi and Roman should go. Gabi has no storyline now, since Chad told her to stay away from her friends. The only thing storyline she could have is if everyone finds out about her and Andrew, or if she is paired with crazy Nick. As for Rafe, looks like he’ll be paired with Sami soon, so he is probably going to stay. And if not Sami, he and Nicole could be hot.

Not as if she has been front or even side burner. Seems like they weren’t sure what to do with her character.

lol, what was the point of her coming back, she’s a joke!, no one cares.

Agreed. She just sat by Bo in the hospital, flirted with Daniel while he was making love to Nicole and mooning over Jennifer, and talked with Kate and Austin. We haven’t seen her in weeks.

Totally not surprised. She does this all the time, comes back to gain a bit of publicity and then leaves to do other projects. The latest return of Billie made ZERO sense. And she is not the actress for the role. Recast Bo with Robert Keller Kelly and bring back Julie Pinson!

I also agree. Also, am I the only person that feels she is too old to play the part? I would cringe seeing her calling Kate Kaslow “Mom”. And she also looked old enough to be Lucas’s and Austin’s mother. It’s those dam lips of hers they age her! Not to mention her over acting every scene she was in.I never realized how bad her acting was until this past go round. Maybe she needed a coach to brush up on her skills but she was BAD!!! I also agree with Scott. Julie Pinson was a much better fit as Bilie. At the very least she looked age appropiate. It’s not like I don’t like Lisa, I loved her with Ty Treadway on Soap Talk. So maybe she should go with doing another talk show. She is a good host. Her days as Billie are done.

It’s clear that Lisa doesn’t care about the role. She was hired and shortly hyped and barely appeared following her first few scenes. She always comes back, gains a bit of publicity and moves onto the next thing. Plus she looks like Kate’s sister, not daughter. Julie Pinson brought personality to the role. I’ve never been a fan of Lisa’s acting, I find it very harsh in its portrayal. Billie has become a recycled character.

What a shame…. course, it seems like she wasn’t on at all, or even back. there really isn’t any one for her to “date”… certainly wasn’t Bo… she wasn’t even friends with Jack… Daniel was a bust…

the only real potential… was with Shane.

she really only had scenes with Austin… and they were good.

nuff said… what can i say… she was one of my favorites, back in the day… w/ Robert Kelker-kelly.

I was sp looking forward to a Billie and Daniel story, then all of the sudden he was banging a very pregnant Nicole. She showed up today. Where was she during the explosion?

Thank you! Daniel and Billie would’ve made more sense than Daniel and Nicole! They were flirting, then all of a sudden he is with Nicole, who is in love with EJ (though divorced) and has feelings for Rafe??? Daniel and Nicole were hot, don’t get me wrong, but Daniel and Billie could’ve been MUCH better, as well as a Rafe-Nicole pairing, or EJole reunion, which I still think is in the cards. But Billie had no storyline. Sad. Well, at least Dannifer can reunite.

They wasted her return. It’s a shame, but with no story, I don’t blame her. She hasn’t been on in forever.

I think soap producers and networks go for the star and publicity before thinking through storylines and such. Don’t these daytime drama have long-term “bibles” anymore? Seems everything is shot from the hip and not thoroughly vetted.

That’s exactly what I’ve been thinking. If they’re bringing people back, wouldn’t you think they have a storyline plotted out for for the next year. But they bring people back with no real story planned.

Why do TPTB do these things? Other shows are guilty of the same thing – bring back a character with much fanfare, and then they don’t have a storyline for them! Sheesh.

Sad to see her go. Although she was rude to JM, she and Daniel had potential, and her scenes with Austin and Kate were entertaining. She could’ve brought much to the show. If I was writer, I would’ve had her have many more scenes in CW, with her mother, with Ian, with Austin, Carrie and Sami, even with Rafe. I would’ve also had her, Daniel and Nicole involved in a love triangle in which he was sleeping with both of them, but decided his one true love is Jennifer and chose her over both Billie and Nicole. She should’ve also been there for her half-niece/nephew. If she interacted with Will during his coming out or something. I don’t think she even had a scene with Will or Allie!!!!

OH SH*T. I just saw Stefano! what a way to bring him back… EJ looked mortified…

Stefano looked…ala…. drugged Hannibal.

She was perky and fun in scenes, and I liked her today with Lucas and Kate, but as she did not have any major storylines or ‘purpose’ just kind of floating in and out of scenes at this time her character is superfluous. Wish her all the best in all her endeavors.

rinna added nothing to the show, she is not an actress , has no skill or talent . rinna is a wanna be has been always looking for a way to make a buck! working on a line of vitamin supplements , what a joke , rinna has no degree in sports nutrition, writing another book on healrh and beauty please give use a break! rinna is a fake nasty looking bitch. nothing about her is natural beauty. woman every where please do not waste money on rinnas vitamins or her trashy worthless book! I have a degree in sports nutrtion and a boxing instructor.

Lisa Rinna needs to go sit down. She is so over-rated, and for what? She RATES herself. She is just ALL FAKE personality. Where is the substanse in the woman? I understand being bubbly, BUT she is FACK, is all phony, almost like she is imitating someone that she thinks (their) FAKE personality has paid off. If its Susan Lucci, look Lisa, Susan is AT LEAST beautiful, the industry love (s) her/ to hate her because of her beauty, and MOST important, Susan doesn’t TALK too MUCH whereever she goes, and on interviews. Susan is just classy, CLASSIC Erica Kane, all the time. So find another personality that your’re trying to mimic Lisa. Sironada…

Days Of Our Lives

Stephen Schnetzer Talks On His Return to Days of our Lives and Working with Susan Seaforth Hayes In Emotional Episodes

Who says you can’t go home again? In the case of Another World favorite, Stephen Schnetzer (ex-Cass Winthrop), he has proven that it is true, and you can go back to your soap roots and where it all started for you.

Last week on April 11th, Schnetzer, along with several other key returns were on set at Days of our Lives taping all-new episodes of the Peacock streaming soap opera, centering on the funeral of Doug Williams (the late Bill Hayes), and as part of the iconic soap opera’s 15,000th episode.

Stephen is reprising his first daytime role as Steve Olson, the brother of Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes). The last time Schnetzer appeared on a DAYS set was during his one and only run on the show from 1978 to 1980. Clearly, viewers will be in for some very emotional scenes when Steve returns to Salem to be there for his sister, Julie in her time of need. In real-life, Susan has been going through her own grief, having just lost Bill back on January 12th at the age of 98.

Photo: NBC

Michael Fairman TV caught up with Stephen during the 15K episode celebration ceremony, and during a break from taping the gut-wrenching funeral scenes, to get his thoughts on being part of these highly-anticipated moments that will air later this year in December. Here’s what he shared with us below.

What has this been like for you to work with Susan Seaforth Hayes after all of these years?

STEPHEN: She’s a dream and she’s so bright. We ran lines yesterday and we ended up just visiting for about 45 minutes and just catching up and telling tales about each other’s career. She even dropped off the autobiography that she and Bill did. And being back here at DAYS, every time I turn a corner, there’s another familiar face. When I was on the show 40 more years ago, a bunch of the guys, played softball on a team together. This is really a trip down memory lane as I knew it would be.

Photo: JPI

Taping Doug’s funeral must be a hard day for Susan. Are you checking in with her to help hold her up through this?

STEPHEN: I am and I’m checking in with Amy Shaughnessy (Susan’s assistant), and she’s holding her up more than anybody. We’re there for each other.

There will obviously be some major hankie-inducing moments when Steve comes back to Salem to console his sister.

STEPHEN: Oh, wait till you see it in December. It’s going to be great.

Were you surprised you got this call to come back to the show decades later?

STEPHEN: It was out of the blue! I was completely surprised. They should have called me decades ago! That’s what surprised me. When Another World went down, I thought I’d land somewhere else and it never happened. That was more of a surprise.

Photo: JPI

Cass is such an identifiable character for you. As well, you and Linda Dano (ex-Felicia Gallant) are so synonymous together as best friends Cass and Felicia from Another World. When fans heard you were reprising your role as Steve Olson on DAYS, they are now hoping there will be more of you on the show to come.

STEPHEN: Steven Olson is a real “Cassian “character. I cut my teeth on Steve Olson and that’s how Cass was introduced. He was kind of a roguish charmer. And then when the character stuck for Another World, they rehabilitated me, and turned me into one of the shows heroes. And that’s what would’ve happened if I stayed as Steve Olson probably. So, Steve is the ‘pre-Cass’, Cass.

Photo: JPI

As the story goes, you originally decided to leave Days of our Lives?

STEPHEN: I was never on contract. I was doing a day and a half a week and I got a Broadway play directed by Franco Zeffirelli starring Joan Plowright and Frank Finlay. I was able to it as I didn’t have to break a contract or anything. I cut loose and went back to New York for that.

How well did you get to know Bill Hayes during your first time around on DAYS?

STEPHEN: My first episode was with Bill and Susan, as her long lost brother coming into Salem. They were so good to me. They were so kind. I had been doing eight years of classical repertory theater, never been in front of a camera. I tell everybody, it took me longer than any other actor I’ve ever seen to get comfortable in front of a camera. And they were very supportive at that time in my career. Coming back to honor Bill now in 2024, and to be see Susan, I am just so happy to be here.

Looking forward to seeing the scenes between Stephen and Susan Seaforth Hayes come December and Doug’s funeral and surrounding episodes? Do you hope that DAYS might bring the character of Steve Olson back for a longer stay? Comment below.
