Loren Lott Wraps Her Run At The Young and the Restless

Photo: JPI Studios

Via a You Tube video, The Young and the Restless, Loren Lott confirmed she is exiting at the CBS daytime drama series.  Loren, who came on to the scene as Devon’s (Bryton James) sister, Ana Hamilton back in November of 2018, as a recast for the role last played in 2012 by Jamin Simone Nash, was apparently let-go from the soap as she detailed in her heartfelt message that accompanied her video of her last day at the CBS Television City soundstage.

In her message, Loren expressed: “What an amazing journey! I’m so grateful to God for this step in my career. I have learned so much and I have had so much fun. I’ve received thousands of hugs and kisses and had several Dream Come True moments. I am so excited to move on to what’s next for me. I was a little bummed at first when I was told that creatively they didn’t know what to do with my story line and they wanted to spend their budget increasing other people’s storylines but I appreciated their honesty. Everyone has told me how much they love me and showered me with so much encouragement. Y&R is still my family forever and I have no bitterness towards them at all! Plus I’ve learned that certain no’s are an even bigger yes somewhere else. I’m grateful for every storyline I participated in and every song I got to sing. How cool that I got to sing and act on TV. All I wanted when I left Broadway was for my grandparents to be able to turn on the TV and see me without having to travel to support me as they are getting older. I got exactly that. Thanks God. I’m so excited for what’s next.”

Watch the video of Lott’s final day below, and then let us know if you think Y&R should have let Loren go via the comment section below.

This is the version of Y&R that all the whiners were crying for: the previous regime tried to drag the show kicking and screaming into the 21st century, with people of all types, races, etc., and people cried like babies. So now you get what you want.

You said it, whynot.

You said it, not us! But you’re speaking the truth. Now they’re complaining about the changes, while those of us who didn’t ask for them are laughing.

Loren Lott /Ana, was DOA from day one ..
Anyone that is not a Newman or Abbot, or their offspring, or partners is a short stay..

The Hamilton’s was near to exit, but- they made Devon a Billionaire to continue on.
All the families of Y&R are Billionaires or very wealthy, and the fact is there are not many African Americans that are Billionaires to ‘fit in’ with the Newmans and Abbot’s money and lifestyle. Therefore Billionaire Devon.

Ana was not wealthy and not needed.
The Hamiltons were kept alive by being wealthy and because they were/are the Only African Americans.

So– if not a Newman or Abbot one is not needed for the long run..
I see, in the future, Lola, Rey, and mother gone too.
That family has been whittled away -short stay.

Think; how many characters brought in not of the Newmans or Abbots that are still viable, all gone, disposable characters.

I wish Loren a great career, other than the soaps..

Loren as Ana grew on me, she is a terrific singer and actress. Y&R are making more changes soon according to soap opera digest.

So disappointed! Best of luck to Lauren!

Nothing against the actress but the character of Ana is something the writers never seem to know what to do with. My guess is that we won’t hear about that character again.

Plus, she was Devon’s half sister, so not a lot of love interests for her.

Nate is Lily’s cousin, Devon is Lily’s adopted brother.

Speechless
Lets dump another young exciting minority representative actress ( first Noemi Gonzales s Mia now Loren) for returning vets and new expensive ones
Officially this show is no longer Young and Restless but the Old and tired.
Like put me to sleep. Vic is not going to die. Although i really like the new Adam, we dont need crazy Chloe trying to kill him again or Billy having nightmares over the wretched rehash of Dehila getting hit while out for icecream
As a white viewer myself i cry foul over another non white character getting cut. I dont need a white old genoa city. The Rosales and Winters clans deserve much better. Yes the Rosales are still new but Mia had tons of personality and potential.
Anna was the new face of the Winters clan. She was a natural and fun and gorgeous. With Lily and Hilary out im sorry but i dont see Devin and Elena carrying the fam on.
Poor , pathetic , dissapointing and short sighted
I want Josh Griffith furthermore Angelica McDaniel fired for rehiring this joke fired. I said it

This was just a travesty that they fired her in the way that they did. I mean, she just got herself in the opening credits two weeks ago and now she’s gone????? Seriously, Y&R screwed this one up big time. It’s like they just don’t know how to write for African American characters. They need to rehire writer Susan Dansby, one of the only African American writers on daytime.

Oh boy can’t find a storyline for a beautiful woman of color ? JG and all his pets he brought back eating up the show with storylines that are reruns and ratings are still in the tank.

“…I was told that creatively they didn’t know what to do with my story line and they wanted to spend their budget increasing other people’s storylines…”

How’s this for an idea? Pair Ana with Theo (either romantically or professionally), and slowly get her involved in the party life that he and Kyle were in while they lived in New York. We’ve already seen that Theo isn’t exactly the greatest influence, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to have him get Ana involved in drugs and alcohol. A lot of musicians go through this phase, especially in their twenties.

Give Ana a full-fledged addiction storyline. Remember, she’s already got a predisposition to addiction because of her mother, Yolanda/Harmony. This has the potential to be a really emotional story, and tie in so many other characters. Devon could help pull Ana out of the downward spiral she’s in, just like she helped him move past the memories of Hilary. They could bring Debbi Morgan back as Yolanda temporarily, and also bring to light Neil’s past with addiction and how that affected his family.

They could also extend the story to Theo and Kyle, highlighting more of their past in New York, and show how Kyle was able to escape the life of constant partying and substance abuse, and grow up. Y&R could shed light on addiction and how thousands of people struggle with it every day, especially in the music industry. GH is known for tackling social/medical issues in their stories and doing it with mostly successful results. Why not spread some of that to Y&R too?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m enjoying having Adam, Chelsea, Kevin and Chloe back on Y&R, and Michelle Stafford returning as Phyllis is awesome too. But there’s a lot of potential with Y&R’s newer characters, especially ones with ties to one of Genoa City’s core families. Plus, Loren Lott is a good actress, and giving Devon more family members is needed now that Dru and Neil are dead, and Lily is living elsewhere.

Not interested in Ana or Theo (who I hope leaves soon).

I do wish they had not let Mia go. She was good and could have stirred up trouble and her trying to ingratiate herself with higher ups was fun.

Elena bores me.

It’s a shame, because with Neil and Lily and her kids gone, no Winters on the show.

Elena bores you because they have her hitched to Devon and he sucks!

I am confused. When the Rosales family appeared, everyone complained they were on too much. There wasn’t much love for Keri, Ana or the other actor who played Nate. And everyone wanted Mal Young fired. Well, they got their wish! Tell me, how is Y&R old and Restless, when you have characters like Kyle,Lola, Summer, Theo, Mariah, Tessa, Abby, Devon, Elena and Nate leading stories or prominently featured? These are characters /actors in their 20s & 30s. Let’s not forget it’s B&B that introduces new characters and writes them out in a few months. And DOOL currently only has three African-American characters who do not lead story and one of them is a Horton! Should they have fired Loren Lott? Hell no! She had potential and could have been around for some time. Is Y&R perfect? No, but it is still good soap and they do utilize their cast. Just sayin!

This new regime at Y&R give new meaning to the words incompetent and uninspired. It takes no creativity, no brains, no thought, no care to get rid of great performers. This is exactly what they’ve done. They started when they let go of Brooks Darnell, a gorgeous, talented, exciting actor who could’ve done so much they bothered to give him a part to play. And they replaced him with a dud who has ZERO chemistry with Mel. Then Gina who is a FAR better Phyllis. They’ve made define into a spoiled whack job who has suddenly fallen madly for Elena. The Adam, Nick, Sharon, Ray, Chelsea Story BORING AF. Eric, peter should retire gracefully, they are giving their all. I’m jumping off this burning pile of garbage

Why was she added to the opening credits if she was going to be dropped?

Ana never had a decent storyline. I was not interested in her or her story.

So disappointed … she’s a beautiful talented actress/singer and if they don’t know how to write for her that says a lot about THEIR lack of creativity/talent IMO. How can they let Ana, who had so much potential, go and yet keep Tessa who should have been gone long ago. Devon decided to put her with Theo for mentoring, and all of a sudden he’s working with Phyllis. Devon’s big interest is in his music division, there was a role for her. The show is all over the map.

As a side note – I will never forget Ana’s rendition of “Amazing Grace” at Neil’s funeral. Absolutely beautiful.

Why do people immediately cry foul and pull out the race card when a non-Caucasian is let go from a soap? You look like a moron! She was let go because it was a character who was not relevant and probably would never be relevant. Who the hell tunes in to see what Ana is up to today on Y&R? NO ONE! Its still a show that people for years have watched because of VICTOR and NIKKI!, period! They are STILL relevant! Anyone else who comes along has to make an impact or they are gone. No matter what COLOR! NOAH-STITCH-TRAVIS-BRANDON-RAVI-GRAHAM- You get it?

I’m just so upset Devon is losing all of his family! I understand the loss of Neil Winters due to the passing of Kristoff St. John, and Lily deciding to leave, but he has nobody but Nate who they’ll probably write out as soon as the writers get tired of him and Abby. This is just one of many reasons I don’t watch the show anymore regardless of who they’re bringing back!

The YOUNG and the RESTLESS is now The Blah and the Boring and I have quit watching…I stopped watching years ago for a while and when Sally Sussman and Kay Alden returned I started watching again full time and even made it through Mal Young, yes for a while I did complain about Mal but now it’s so dull… I will say this again, Y&R has not been directed, produced or written well IMO since 2007 when Kay Alden was let go as Head Writer and the beautiful background music was replaced…I know at times the wonderful Mr Mike Dobson returned the classic music cues back for special occasions but the show DOES NOT feel the same that I watched since the middle 70;s till 2006/2007…I am a fan of B&B which the so enjoyed the music from Jack Allocco, David Kurtz (formerly at Y&R))and John Nordstrom plus Ed Scott produces B&B and I am also enjoying GH…

Ana had such great potential. Lott was a good singer, fine actress and beautifully glamorous. Y&R dropped the ball. Mia also had great potential.

Saddest thing to see is that people wanted Mal Young gone and since he left the ratings have dropped considerably whereas the ratings stayed pretty stable during Young’s time on the show.

I think Y&R was heading in the right direction with a big Rosales family. Mia should have been written as a character similar to Roxy on OLTL–funny, but with an edge and annoying. With Kristoff’s passing, I felt like the Winters family needed a new patriarch or matriarch. I was hoping Victoria Rowell would return. I think the show needs the Rosales family because they are/were all new characters. With the Rosales and Winters families nicely balancing out the Abbotts and the Newmans.

Devon should lose or give alway his fortune. Would be interesting to use Victor’s illness to bring the Abbotts and Newmans together. Might be interesting to revisit an equal merger of Jabot and Newman with Jack and Victor sharing an office. LOL.

Not sure why Paul was brought back. Now that Christine won’t be DA anymore and with Rey coming back to the police force, Paul just isn’t needed and unless they plan on breaking up Paul and Christine, what’s the point?

Just reading the other comments, I’m under the impression that the young and the restless don’t believe in equal opportunity. The funny thing about that show is the worst of the worst can roll into town, and with the best of luck ends up being a left behind or rejected family member. What is really weird is the writers always writing someone out of the show and then later bring them back as another character. Instead of bringing Hillary back they should have kept Ana and gave her a spot on the show. It’s very dumb when the person died on the show and then bring them back as another character. Really Y&R, or should I call it the old and the burned out. The writers need to step up their game.
