NASHVILLE: Rayna Falls Apart Over Deacon's Fate Then Beverly Shows Up To Save The Day?

On Wednesday night’s Nashville, the Music City soap opera set up its upcoming season finale (May 13th) with some mighty cliffhangers and clues as to what may come.  At the top of the list was the heartbreaking scene where Rayna (Connie Britton), who after secretly going to Mississippi to talk to Deacon’s (Charles Esten) sister Beverly (Dana Wheeler- Nicholson) in an attempt that she would help save her brother who is dying of liver cancer, offered the not-so-nice gal a hefty $1million dollars to do so, but got turned down! How so? Beverly tore up the check and mailed it back to Rayna.

Now feeling all hope is lost, and that she is going to lose the man she has loved her entire adult life, Rayna breakdowns in front of Deacon!  For fans of the series, it was a hankie-filled moment, for sure.   However, at the very end of the episode, guess who comes to Nashville?  Beverly!  She hugs her brother and then throws some nasty shade over at Rayna! What gives?

Elsewhere, Juliette (Hayden Panetttiere) is suffering from massive post-partum depression and cannot connect with baby Cadence, and even with a family, friends, and a doctor’s intervention, she denies she has a problem.  Juliette won’t hold her baby.

And then there is Will Lexington (Chris Carmack)!  It looks like he is about to be outed publicly when pictures surfaced from a vacation with his new beau, and landed in the hands of  Luke Wheeler (Will Chase), who has been the new force behind Lexington’s ascending music career.  Will the truth finally come to light?

General Hospital and daytime soap fans also saw Scott Reeves make a guest appearance on last night’s episodes in scenes with Jonathan Jackson (Avery).

Watch the moment when Rayna loses all hope in front of Deacon as she fears there is nothing they can do to keep him alive, followed by Beverly’s re-emergence in Nashville.  Then let us know, what do you think will happen on the season finale?  What did you think of last night’s episode? It was so good!! I hope Deacon gets his new liver. I can’t wait until Layla finds out what Jeff’s been up too.

The only reason Beverly showed up is because Rayna offered to make Beverly a star and put her on her label and give her a tour etc..
She turned the million down because she wanted her dream, to be a rock/country star..
We will now have to listen to Beverly sing lol ..

I am afraid you’re right for once in your life, SUoo. (JK)

CB (Rayna) really pulled in some damn fine acting in the scene where she breaks down with Deacon.
It looks like Beverly is going to do the right thing by her brother but I did not like the hostile and hateful look she shot Rayna when she hugged Deacon.
I think she’s going to want to take Rayna’s place as Deacon’s singing/writing partner and there will be a price to pay.

way I see it..
Rayna bought Deacons liver..
she had to give Beverly a music deal
Bring Beverly onto Reyna’s label, and make Beverly a star..
Rayna bought the liver not by money but by giving Beverly her dream to be a singing star..

They can go that way but she can’t force Rayna to put her on her label…they have no contract. If she wanted something she would have kept the million. I still think she had a change of heart…

I just watched the scene again and I’m bawlin’ like a baby…

LOVE THIS SHOW….WISH MORE PEOPLE TUNED IN …BEFORE IT WILL NOT RETURN NEXT SEASON!!!

Fear not…it’s, thankfully, been renewed.

I actually think Beverly loves Deacon and had a change of heart. She tore up the check to show she can’t be bought…that she’s doing this for HER brother and doesn’t need Rayna’s money. Her sense of pride kicked in.

Looks like the season finale will have us wondering if Deacon makes it…seems like he goes flat on the table. That would be quite the horrific shocker, but I think the powers that be know Deacon is one of their most popular characters so it wouldn’t be economically feasible (for the ratings/show) to let him die.

Rebecca, I’d like to agree but the look she gave Rayna as she hugged Deacon?
Well, if looks could kill…
I am afraid that look is offering us foreshadowing of coming events.

I don’t know, Harry. She’s jealous of Rayna, she feels Rayna came between her and Deacon, stole her chance for fame…so that was a look of I’m not doing this for you…and I’m not doing this for the money. Could be she wants to gain favor with Deacon, have him appreciate her and be indebted to her.

I think you and I agree…she shot Rayna a hateful look…but she certainly proved she’s not doing it for money…a million dollars is a lot to turn down.

Glad to see you’re now a Rayna fan! I had to convince you way back how likeable Rayna was…do u remember that?

SO happy for this renewal! I saw Nashville Live this past Saturday night in Boston and it really brought home how talented some of the cast members are- not just as actors but as musicians. Looking forward to the season (and NOT the series, thank goodness) finale next Wednesday. They better not kill off Deacon though. I can’t live without my weekly Chip Esten fix!!! 😉

Wow, shrona! Lucky you! That must have been such fun! Interesting how life imitates art…second time I used that expression today…but these actors who play musicians actually giving a concert…probably felt like you were in a parallel universe…knowing they’re actors but at the same time there’s Deacon, Scarlett, Gunnar, etc…

Would love to see them if there’s another concert next year.

Rebecca1, I would see them again in a heartbeat. Our lineup was Charles ‘Chip’ Esten (Deacon), Clare Bowen (Scarlett), Chris Carmack (Will), Lennon and Maisy Stella (Maddie and Daphne) and Aubrey Peeples (Layla) – but we had 2 surprise performers as well- Sam Palldio (Gunnar) and his real life girlfriend Chaley Rose (Zoey). SO amazing! Not quite as intimate as the Bluebird, but still pretty great. It was a good crowd too.

K..I’ll meet you at the next one! 😉

I didn’t know Sam Palladio was dating Chaley Rose. Wonder if they’re a relatively new couple… I remember checking out his twitter account a while back and I’m almost certain it was someone else. Love Sam! Amazing how he and Clare do the Nashville accent so well considering he’s British and she’s Australian? I forget…

I think that Beverly doesn’t make it following the transplant. No way deacon dies. However Beverly could. Beverley’s character is not interesting anyway, and she’s not a decent person. Her reasons for wanting to help deacon were not pure. She probably wanted a record deal from Rayna. I say get rid her her! Deacon cannot die. He’s too important to the show. Wide open for him and rayna now to build a life together. Everybody loves a happily ever after for a bit.

Hayden Panettiere Reveals Filming ‘Nashville’ was ‘Traumatizing’; Writers Used Her Personal Struggles with Addiction, Postpartum as Storylines

Nashville and former Guiding Light star, Hayden Panettiere (ex-Lizzie, GL) opened up about her final seasons on the ABC country music primetime drama, where the show touched too close to home for the actress who played lead character, Juliette Barnes.

In an interview with The Messenger, Hayden shared that during the run of the show from 2012-2018, she feels that the writers, more often that not, pulled from her real life while crafting Juliette’s storylines.

Hayden said on the years she spent filming the series that it was “also very traumatizing because I felt like I was acting out my own life.”

Previously, the actress had shared that her dependency on alcohol and opioids as a teenager led to her dependency in her adult life. In addition, Nashville told the story of Juliette’s postpartum depression, which also mirrored Panettiere’s experience who went through the same thing when her own daughter was born.

Explaining what went down behind the scenes, Hayden recalled: “Straight from the beginning, it was like, I’m dating a football player, (and then) Juliette dates a football player. And then they turned her into an alcoholic. Then they turned to her leaving her daughter and going to this crazy (place) in Europe, and it was very obvious.”

The actress added, ‘They weren’t doing their homework. They weren’t creating new storylines. They were just looking at my life and going, ‘Oh, let’s just take what she’s going through and put our little spin on it.’ And then, ta-da! It’s done and done.”

Hayden added that she didn’t have time to care of herself and the pain she was going through physically and emotionally, so she tried to watch mindless TV and shows to help her calm down. Panettiere also felt that when she knew she had to go back to the set of Nashville, she did, “anything to keep my mind off of that because I knew that next day I was going to be back at it again. I was like, tear central. I don’t even think on a soap opera that I cried as much (as I did) on Nashville.”

Hayden is set to make three upcoming appearances of her A Conversation With Hayden Panettiere live series in New York on February 23 and Washington D.C. on February 24.

So, do you think the Nashville writers literally stole creative ideas for the character of Juliette Barnes based on Hayden’s personal struggles? It certainly on paper seems so. Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
