On WATCH WHAT HAPPENS LIVE: Eileen Davidson, Michele Lee & Tracey E. Bregman Weigh-In: Are 'Real Housewives' Or Soaps More Shocking? What Was The Y&R's Cast Reaction When They Learned Eileen Was Joining RHOBH? Plus, How Knots Landing Influenced 'Housewives'!

This week on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, The Young and the Restless Eileen Davidson (Ashley) and Tracey E. Bregman (Lauren) were on hand, along with Knots Landing and current star of Broadway’s Wicked, Michele Lee (Ex-Karen).

There was plenty bantied about during the episode including: Andy revealing how The Real Housewives of Orange County, which was the series that started the ‘Housewives’ franchise, was modeled after the cul-de-sac drama of Knots Landing.  Eileen also noted and was impressed with Andy’s understanding and knowledge of the soaps.

Later, after a caller told Andy that her military son is in love with him, and that he finally came out as a gay.  She next posed a question to Eileen and Michele, “Are ‘Houswives’ or the soaps more shocking?” After Eileen answers the question, Andy asks Tracey, who is the official “bartender” for the episode, if she and the cast of Y&R were shocked to learn that Eileen joined the reality series franchise.

Finally, a caller asks, “What would Michele Lee’s Knots Landing character of Karen’s ‘Housewive’ tagline be?”  Michelle had a great comeback related to Karen’s pill-popping days!

Watch Andy, Michele, Eileen, talk in one segment after the jump.  Then weigh-in: Do you find the ‘Housewives’ franchise and the stories told within more shocking than the soaps? Or, do they feel fabricated and not as shocking?

What did you think about Tracey’s comments on her reaction to learning the news that Eileen joined RHOBH, and do you hope that somewhere sometime a Knots Landing revival which would star: Donna Mills, Michele Lee, Joan Van Ark along with a new set of grown-up and younger aged characters might hit the TV screens much like the Dallas series formula and revival that lasted for a few seasons on TNT?  Let us know to all in the comment section below!

Housewives is degrading to women..
It gives gullible people a way of seeing certain types of people as liars, betrayers andaloholic sluts..
All in all it does women a great injustice but more-so themselves..

I can’t even imagine the mindset of the people who watch Housewives .. LOL scary!

When I’m channel surfing, there have been times I clicked into Housewives. I will watch for a few minutes in awe at the self degrading plastic women on my screen.. They are a psychiatrist dream patient … lol

Perfectly said, Su!
Totally agree.

I have watched a lot of crappy reality TV but I can never watch any of the Housewives shows, they don’t interest me. Just like Mob Wives (minus Big Ang, she cracks me up!)

SO GREAT TO SEE BOTH LAUREN AND ASHLEY ON WATCH WATCH HAPPENS LIVE> LOVE TO SEE SHARON CASE SOMEDAY 🙂

I LOVE THE HOUSEWIVES SHOWS

Totally in agreement with SUOO. The Housewives Franchise is predicated aupon women being catty bitches to each other. I honestly feel one destroys brain cells from watching it. I know I lost a few when I tuned into it a week or so ago to watch Eileen Davidson in action. I did not like what I saw and moreover, what I saw ruins the character of Ashley in my eyes. And I always liked Ashley!
She needs to get off this crazy train of stupidity, pronto.

So much better seeing Eileen aka Ashley in her real world life on The Housewives of Beverly Hills. I wish we could see Sharon Case on The Real Housewives

It’s so horrible to see Eileen AKA Kristen (her Emmy Award winning role), Susan, Sister Mary, Tommy & Penelope (all from Days of our Lives) throw herself into the crap they call reality TV!

Eileen, If you’re reading this, show some self respect and drop Y&R and RHOBH! DAYS knows how talented you are!

LOVE LOVE Eileen so much better on the Housewives of Beverly Hills 🙂

100 percent agree with you su0000! I love women and have a ton of respect for them but when I see this horse crap on TV and see how women act in dire need to be famous and the desire for attention, it saddens me! Shame on you Eileen!

Love Love love Eileen on the housewives show . We get to see the human side instead of the fake character side . People forget that the actors have real feeling and lives outside of the soap characters they play . BRAVO Eileen 🙂

But they are in false predicaments…some real stuff thrown in but they still “act” in many of those scenes…a local in my area appeared on a reality show and admitted that those shows are padded and comes with a script.

Jim is right–Housewives show is staged and scripted. You are not seeing the real Eileen here.
Right now this “reality” show is exploiting the Nicole Brown/OJ tragedy by pitting that horrid Faye Ransick against some woman named Kathryn whom Faye trashed in her tell all, exploitive book which she wrote before her friend’s body was even cold.
I suggest that viewers boycott this ugly show which is a sad commentary on our society. I would like to bring back the soaps and have these horrible reality housewives shows canceled.

No Harry the bravo shows are like top top tops love it all day everyday

The fact you see their real homes is great . Besides the script the actors on these soaps are real people so they way everyone trashes some soap actors please know they are real people who have real families. Love seeing Eileen Davidson on Housewives. Yes Sharon case fans would love that also along with other actors from their favorite soaps

Daniele, every time you watch this trash you can say,”There goes my brain cells.”
And while I like Sharon Case, I would not wish this on her. She’s too good for this crap
Hell, I would not wish this on my worst enemy.
Stop watching this trash and it will eventually go away.

First of all I didn’t hear Tracy’s comments. I so have enjoyed her over the years on Young and the Restless.

I feel uncomfortable for ever watching the “Housewives.” Years ago the program introduced to me the New York team. It seemed to me that the program made it appear acceptable to counter something as silly as an unacceptable eye movement as OK to start an argument.

I don’t even know how to start discussing my confusion over these programs. It is looking at beautiful houses, people, clothes, drinks, locations that most of us have seen only in the movies. Somehow, in order to attract viewers. the programs seem to encourage aggressive mannerisms rather than ameliorating conflict. Our country, and I mean our country, doesn’t need that.

I plead quilty to watching upon occasion, but I never feel good about it.

Great post, Tani. I hear ya.

I love and live for the Housewives shows. I feel like so much it like real because I live in LA and they all do things k=just like they do in the show . Yes its scripted but they really go to these parties and its fun!!!!!! 🙂 Eileen is GREAT on the show. I love seeing her thoughts outside the soaps

So your husband wears the “I’m with with Stupid” T shirt evidently.

In my option this housewife show all about these actresses playing dress up along with their phony bodies. women have a hard enough time in this male ego world with discrimination. It’s definitely not about being taken as a serious actress it’s all about money. Very disappointing.

hi Nellie ..
Have you ever wondered if those women were everyday peoples;
– sister, daughter, mother, wife..
just how they would feel about watching those women then.. lol

Amen sister. There is nothing real about those women. And seriously, housewives is a stretch. Eileen would do better to not have her name connected to that garbage.

love tracey and eileen… both actresess are as beautiful as ever!
finally ashleys getting a real storyline with dr neville , although i miss her and victor admiring eachother
now if lauren can get a visit from carmine….

Shellie,

I don’t disagree with you, Eileen would do better than that but her Bank account would not. Maybe she can run as donald’s Vice President to give her the notoriety she craves. It would be the trileen campaign
