Peter Bergman Celebrates 30 Years as Y&R’s Jack Abbott With Special Episode

Photo: JPI

He is multi-Daytime Emmy winning actor, who is synonymous with daytime drama, and now he is about to achieve another milestone in his career.  Of course, we are talking about The Young and the Restless’ Peter Bergman (Jack Abbott).

Bergman is set to celebrate his 30th anniversary with the top-rated soap when he was first introduced to viewers in the role back on November 27th, 1989.  In his honor, the series is delivering a special episode to air on Monday, November 25th.

In the episode, Jack takes a walk down memory lane as he reads his sister’s, Traci Abbott (Beth Maitland), family memoir, that details the triumphs and tragedies of the iconic Abbott family.  Also, viewers will be treated to classic clips and appearances from the Abbott family, including fan favorites Eileen Davidson (Ashley Abbott) and Maitland.

Bergman shares his sentiments in a statement:  “It’s been a real joy for me, to retrace Jack’s footsteps over the last 30 years. I am struck by the enduring friendships I have made at Y&R, and deeply grateful to our fans, who have stood by Jack, cheered him on, or waited patiently for him to get his act together…for three decades!  I’m happy, amazed and truly thankful…and it sure feels good. Thank you one and all.”

During his 40 years in daytime television, including 10 years as Dr. Cliff Warner on All My Children, Bergman has received 21 Emmy Award nominations for Lead Actor, and won three times.  In addition, Peter took home two Soap Opera Digest awards for Lead Actor, as well as three Soap Opera Update MVP Awards throughout his soap performances, making Peter the most decorated actor in Y&R history.

Bergman got emotional on today’s November 15th episode of The Talk sharing his love for his co-stars and the Abbott family.  Watch the clip below.

Now let us know, if you are excited to see the Jack Abbott episode coming up on Y&R via the comment section for Peter’s 30 years in Genoa City.

WHOA! 30 Years, doing the same thing..
Gotta tip a hat to Perter..
30 years WOW! near a lifetime.

Congrats Peter you have always shown class the one still positive thing Y&R has going for it!

I agree with you Kay. The Abbott’s always, in my opinion, bought class to Geona City. I am looking forward to his stand alone show. It will be nice to see the Abbott’s in their prime. Especially good old John. Thanks for listening and happy viewing

Congratulations! A well-deserved milestone in a wonderful career!

I remember Peter as Cliff on AMC. Cliff and Nina:)

Me, too, DMRR! (Remember Cliff and Nina’s gorgeous wedding?? That, and Bergman’s classic Vicks Formula 44 commercial, “I’m not a doctor, but I play one on tv”…Lol….) Hence for me, Peter will always be Dr. Cliff Warner, just as the late, great Terry Lester will always be the REAL Jack Abbott!!

YES, I remember!!!

Yes Shay Terry’s Jack version was fantastic we lost him because of Bill Bell deciding his daughter had to be in every storyline !

I loved Terry Lester. He was one of the two reasons I started watching the show. The other was all the wonderful cat fights Tracy and Lauren had first over Danny and than Brad. Ah the good old days

Congratulations to an amazing actor! I am a huge Peter Bergman fan – he is my favourite actor and Jack my favourite character on Y&R. I also happen to think he’s the best actor on the show.

‘Tracker’ Star Justin Hartley Reveals Melissa Roxburgh to Debut as His On-Screen Sister

Justin Hartley took to his Instagram this week, and introduced the latest cast member to his hit freshman drama, Tracker on CBS.

The former Y&R star where he played Adam Newman, now plays Colter Shaw on Tracker and in a few weeks time on the May 5th episode, viewers will be introduced to Colter’s sister, Dory.

Actress Melissa Roxburgh takes on the key role. Roxburgh is most-known for his role in Manifest. She has also appeared on Quantum Leap and Supernatural to name just a few of her other TV credits.

In the episode entitled, “Beyond the Campus Walls”, the CBS series previews, “When a grad student goes missing after a house party, his friends and family believe he buckled under the pressure of his research grant. But, after consulting with his sister Dr. Dory Shaw (Roxburgh)— a professor at the school — Colter discovers a trail of explicit photos and messages that lead him to uncover a dangerous (and deadly) conspiracy on campus.”

Hartley’s post shared, “Colter finally reunites with his little sister Dory in the coming weeks. Join me in welcoming the lovely and talented @MRoxburgh to the @TrackerCBS family!”

The story of Colter Shaw’s family is a throughline throughout Tracker. We know from flashbacks, that Colter, Dory and their brother Russell had a not-conventional upbringing. Their parents Ashton and Mary were professors at Berkeley until something happened to Ashton. When his paranoia gets the best of him he leaves his family, but Russell went after him, and then later on Ashton is found dead, where all indications look like Russell pushed him.  Now in 2024, Russell contacted Colter telling him there is something he “needs to know.” However, Colter’s mom, Mary did not want her son engaging with Russell in any conversation and that was back earlier in the season after the second episode.
