RATINGS: All Soaps Up In Total Viewers! But, Which Daytime Drama Gave Fans The Best May Sweeps?

The ratings are out for the week of May 11th through May 15th and all four network daytime dramas were up in total viewers!

Y&R neared the 5 million mark picking up the most total viewers with +290,000, while DAYS rebounded and added +49,000.  In the key demos, it was The Bold and the Beautiful and Days of our Lives who were the only soaps that added viewers in the women 18-49 category.  In addition, B&B also added +225, 000 in total viewers coming in at 3,860,000 and not that far away from 4 million viewers.  Meanwhile, General Hospital came close to hitting the 3 million mark adding +99,000 with its tally of 2, 953, 000 total viewers.

Now on to the big question: Which daytime drama delivered the best May Sweeps in 2015?  The May Sweeps period ended this week which means next ratings period fans will still have some key data for the final week of the all important period of TV in the spring.

But for the last several weeks, all four soaps have taken different approaches to bringing in fans!  Y&R has been led by the tale of two Jacks (Peter Bergman) and other assorted stories.

B&B has been telling the tale of Maya Avant (Karla Mosley) as now everyone close to her, or that she works with knows she is a transgender woman.  Will Rick (Jacob Young) and Maya stay together and weather the storm?

Over at GH, it was the Nurses Ball and the live show events along with shocking revelations in regards to who now knows the true identify of Jake Doe (Billy Miller), and major departures such as Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) being killed-off.

On DAYS Kristen’s (Eileen Davidson) return and the truth about baby Tate’s biological parents, and then Kristen’s “demise” were a key part of major story.  There was also the continued build to the fallout to the truth of  Eve (Kassie DePaiva) and JJ’s  (Casey Moss) affair, and Paige (True O’Brien) finding out their dirty little secret and more.

” GH, the Nurses Ball and the live show events along with shocking revelations in regards to who now knows the true identify of Jake Doe (Billy Miller) and major departures such as Duke Lavery (Ian Buchanan) being killed-off.
GH was intriguing and lots of surprises, very entertaining!”

the couples and budding couples were hot. hot!

There were WOW moments.. also- laughter and tears ..

The acting was first-class stunning and I felt every moment .. (Anna especially BRAVO!

We must be watching 2 different shows!!

HUGE mistake firing Ian Buchanan , unfortunately spoiler sites been talking about it for months!!!! GH vets are getting less and less respect. Seems like newbies are getting more respect. Shame! They also do not care if long term fans stop watching either or what we want.

Pairings/couples forced…. Not interested… Brad and Lucas have so much chemistry-jyst wish they had an actual real love story and not hook ups. Potential is solo there!!

The writing was so pathetic -Anna and Duke was one of my favorites in the 80’s and did not cry!!!! It was not until after Dr.O / Kathleen came in after Anna/Finola was talking to Ian /Duke saying he had to wake up so they can start their lives together….. Then ONE TEAR rolled down my cheek.

*I cried more during a weekly episode on a Standard Primetime show or even a commercial.
** I should have been crying like a baby!! Elizabeth Korte NEEDS to be made Head Writer!

Ian/Duke was not fired.. nobody knows why his departure..
His exit story was excellent, it offered and gave a great memorable performance, the coveted way to leave..
Sorry you didn’t cry..
Perhaps you can hope for killing that will make you cry..

Totally agree, Guest. Letting go of Ian was another slap in the face to longtime fans, many of whom were excited about his return only to be disappointed that he got so little screen time, the time he did get was wasted, his relationship with Anna was barely portrayed (which is understandably why newer fans have no clue why fans going further back were let down) and then discarded him. As the older vets…characters like Edward, Lila, have passed in real life, others are retiring from the show, we’re losing a lot of what GH is. Characters who are viable and charismatic…Lucy, Scott,, Mac, Felicia, Bobby, Monica, Ned, AJ, .even Alice, should have or should be actively seen on a more frequent basis as a newer generation is incorporated..as soaps have always done. Generations past, present and future…

I also agree with you regarding Lucas and Brad…a series of hookups. I didn’t think of it that way but yore so right! Perhaps it’s because the writers are trying to establish gay love…gay intimacy…to such an extent that they’ve sacrificed actual story for them.

I still support and watch the show…and the irony of many fans “gripes” is that when you watch a continual story and get more involved in newer characters they, too, get into our psyches. So it’s sort of a manipulation; if the writers slowly weave out the old while weaving in the new…they assume the transition will be seamless. They disregard the ties we have to the original threads that pull it all together….

“HUGE mistake firing Ian Buchanan , unfortunately spoiler sites been talking about it for months!!!! GH vets are getting less and less respect. Seems like newbies are getting more respect. Shame! They also do not care if long term fans stop watching either or what we want.”

That’s exactly correct. At the end of the day, 25 years later, Julian Jerome, Cartini’s refurbished creation, wins, Duke is dead, Anna is a murderer and she didn’t even kill him.

So Julian Lives and thrives, surrounded by the contrived family he was given, baby mama Alexis and daughter Sam. And he’s given a relationship with Lucas, after an episode of him being uncomfortable about him being gay, then months later, with no real interaction, they’re watching Golden Girls reruns, talking about boys and Lucas calls him Pops or whatever.

Duke is in the ground, Anna is a murderer and a basket case and Julian’s “family” is at his apartment supporting him over the death of his son, who really lives, another legacy for Julian Jerome.

And who is there? Lucas Jones/Spencer. I bet his Aunt Felicia and his Grandma Bobbie aren’t too thrilled with Duke’s death at the hands of Julian. Sam’s there. How is little Emma doing these days with Duke’s death?

This is the stuff that makes things so intolerable. The way Cartini creates these characters and relationships without real care to the big picture and inevitably creates a dynamic that is insulting to the history and fans. But they don’t care. Just like having Dr.O stroking Anna’s hair and comforting her.

There was just no reason for Duke to die. None. And that Julian Jerome lives, thrives, expands his family and gains comfort from them, many of whom should be comforting his victims, really sums up the Cartini approach and their complete and utter contempt for the show’s history and fans.

I absolutely agree with Guest, AJQ and Rebecca. Why bring back an old beloved vet if you’re going to present them with out-of-character story lines only to kill them off? It’s as if to say, “Hey, we brought back your beloved Duke and you’re still bellyaching!”
Meanwhile, Ron is engaging in Twitter snark with TV Guide’s Michael Logan because Logan hinted that Duke would be killed off in one of his blogs. I mean, come on, get real–who didn’t see that coming? And when did predictability become a bad thing? It’s called following the clues which the process of foreshadowing presents to us viewers. Ron’s abject fear of predictability and “spoilers” is what made him do a huge left turn, then a right turn and finally a U turn with the whole Fluke debacle. He had read that many fans had picked up clues (again, this is called foreshadowing–it’s a good thing!) and guessed that Fluke was Bill Eckert. Therefore, based on this knowledge, Ron turned the story around and discounting all the clues presented to us, he had Luke suddenly suffering from split personality disorder. This is not a good approach to writing a good story and the end result was a bit of a clusterf—k.
Again, viewers guessing or sensing something is about to happen is part of the process and if they guess correctly, this is not a blight on the writers’ resume.
Way back in the 90’s, we saw Tony Jones dancing slowly with his little girl, BJ. The camera slowed as it focused on Tony’s face which was flushed with happiness and love. Viewers instinctively knew that something tragic was about to happen to father and daughter and something did– BJ was killed in a bus accident and her death led to the classic and beautifully told, “BJ’s Heart” story.
Now before I am accused of wanting to live in the past, I bring up the aforementioned story to prove the point that predictability is not a sign of bad or lazy writing. We can still be surprised by the unexpected such as a town coming together in a union of empathy and love–good writing will still afford surprises in an unexpected way even if the larger plot line was somewhat predictable.
Ron needs to get over his fear of spoilers and predictability because this fear is infecting the story lines and character development.

Guest, I agree with you!
And you, too, Harry. And re writing: Writing 101–a good story DOES have foreshadowing–if not, it’s a cheat to the characters and to the audience. Turning the story inside out just because the readers may guess what may happen is idiocy–that’s what’s supposed to happen with a good play, a good movie, a good book, A WELL-WRITTEN DAYTIME DRAMA. Are you listening, GH PTB and writers? To suddenly throw something in from “left field” is a cheat and does violence to the characters. Maybe Ron should concentrate more on the story–“the play’s the thing”–and less on twitter and petulance. Get over yourself, Ron! It’s not about you; it’s about the story and the characters and the audience that experiences the “play.”

SUB:
I think Duke was killed off in order to make room for Sloane.
Meanwhile, that chest-waxing slime ball Julian, who has killed many, including Duke, gets to live on with his lady love and his family.

I’m with you. GH was horrible. The Nurses Ball was average at BEST and the LIVE episodes were boring. I also agree with you about Duke and Anna. They had been kept apart so long and now we are suppose to cry at the last minute now that both characters are leaving and they killed Duke? STUPID! Why not have they go on the run together?

GH has kept me glued to the TV. It has been my favorite soap for 34 years! I hope it keeps going for many many years to come!

AJQ and Guest..
You both are saying Ian was fired..
I do not believe he was fired, no way.. He did nothing to be fired’

Fired: If someone is fired, they are being let go for cause.
(Generally is unplanned and happens after a series of infractions.)

Laid off: If someone is laid off, they’re being let go for reasons other than performance-
(In other words, it’s about the job itself, not the person)

Let Go: can give the person an opportunity to negotiate a severance package and in addition/ whatevers..

I believe Ian was ‘Let Go …. (not fired

Nancy, so good to hear your perspective. You, as a writer, get the importance of foreshadowing.
Su00, I am not sure why you sweating the small stuff. If you prefer to utilize hyperbole and say that Ian was written out of the show or was dismissed, then fine.
But a rose by any other name….

A good story teller does not have to rewrite history…. they build on it’s rich history and takes you on a journey!!! RC just feels like if he does not have rewrite it he did not write it. It is a shame….Been watching GH for over 43 + years and all he seems to do is rewrite story after story and he rewrites his own stories….. it is just so confusing …. There is zero continuity as well….And the background of a new character is well…. comes down so much later that by the time it happens … we just do not care. if and when it happens.
Here is an example, Valerie Spencer. Think there really is potential. She was introduced back in April, and yet since Patricia died the only relative that we see her interact with is Lulu. Carly said that she is family and she is being blown off by EVERYONE!! Her mom has yet to be put to rest . The idea of her living with Lulu and Dante in a studio apartment for even 1 night is absurd when her Aunt owns a Hotel and lives in a mansion and even Tracy lives in a mansion. We finally learned the other day that Valerie had bonded with some of her family and even that was, yup- OFF SCREEN, This is really unreal!!!! NEVER in ALL MY YEARS of watching GH – going to the bathroom on the show have there been sooo many scenes OFF SCREEN in my life. Between the budding romances , and the important things that we should see — things are off screen…. Aiden – off screen, ALFRED, ALICE, MONICA, DIANE, EPIPHANY, MILO, MAC, FELICIA, etc,,, ALL OFF SCREEN!!!

Maybe I will start watching OFF SCREEN!!! Maybe A LOT more people will too , If TPTB do not replace RC as HW and bring in someone else …… smh

Like hearing your perspective on all things soap, but in this case I’m on team Guest, Harry, Nancy, AJQ, and Rebecca 1. Sometimes you can be such a “homer” for GH, Ron & co I think you lose perspective of the storytelling craft, even if it’s only soaps. And I like to think “I get it.”

We dont need things dumbed down for us. I think we know what fired, laid off or let go means. Bottom line is Ian is off the show and fans are not happy about it. If it was Ian’s choice, fine.

Guest is spot on and hilarious! But he or she needs a name more fitting to his or her unique perspective.
How about Jabberwocky?

Dukes departure is only excellent IF the actor is done with the show and the show is done with the character. NEVER kill a legacy character if the character is not dead to the network. Ian did give a command performance as did Finola but I’m just a fan of having them leave together and give each the opportunity to return.

GH which is never appreciated and should have won best drama at the Emmy’s.

Why?! Nothing emmy worthy was submitted!!!

Guest…re your rewrite comment. It’s not the first time In my real life experience, or in tv/film remakes that the new kid on the block has to pee on the tree to mark their territory. Sometimes it works. In the case of the Fluke story, the b/w, why nice Luke became evil Fluke segment was inspired. Other times…well you’ve explained it very well in some of your comments.

In regards to the new characters, I don’t mind having fresh faces, and potential new, and/or long- lost, established bloodlines. Just have it make sense. And I especially feel bad for the great pool of actors who have been introduced in the last couple of years only to have their characters become caricatures or beneath their acting capabilities or offscreen or short term like Rebecca.

I agree with you 100% Nancy.

This is all speculation, so give Su credit, when it is due. Su does have a point, in a round-about-way….she makes much sense. We do not know why Ian left….
And, Harry…one does not need to be a published writer to appreciate the nooks and crannies of techniques used in prose….including ‘foreshadowing’. Please acknowledge the fact that this is an intelligent group ….do not dismiss us. I also know your writing prowess, as a literary professor….I respect your title and your writing. I, for one have an inclination of all things mathematical….by the same token, my brain is loaded with anything and everything literary…..from prose, poetry to grammar.
We know that GH is number one in su’s book….that’s her privilege. Ergo, she will defend it to the hilt….and, so she should….I respect that, Su, Girl!
Sorry, people. I am glad Duke is gone. I may not be part of the in-crowd, but I will speak my mind.
Furthermore, I hope he never returns, not as a mobster. ….this is nothing about the actor, but all about the character….goes against the grain, personally.
My feeling for this character does not mean I do not respect your disappointment in losing Duke/Ian….it is what it is……I, personally, would like to see a lot more of Felicia and Mac…but……

AJQ, I am usually very much in sync with you, and I do respect your every word. But, at the risk of sounding repetitious, SU is right. We have no clue as to Ian’s departure.
As yourself, I lament the exits of many of my favorite characters/thespians….vets or not. I do not agree that when an older actor/actress leaves is disrespectful. This is an evolving industry, as it always has been. Why shouldn’t younger actors/actresses get their chance? Isn’t this how everyone starts? Pardon my crassness, but…whatever happened to “out with the old and in with the new?”. I do not necessarily agree with that semi-adage, but give the newbies a chance….it is their due. Duke, as he was, contributed nothing, lately…except thoughts of ‘offing’ people. Perhaps if he were written differently, then, I could find some interest in this character. …..no personality whatsoever.
Look at John Aniston, for instance, he is old enough to be Ian’s father….but, what a performer…I love him so much.
Another is Eric Braeden …I do not like the actor or his character. But, excuse the language, he is a damned good actor….cannot deny that. His presence compels one to watch.

GH…….always GH. Waiting for the return of JaSam. I keep threatening to stop watching, but I see that didn’t happen. What I’m starting to enjoy is the fallout Elizabeth and Nickolas are going to suffer when Jason finds out that Elizabeth knew and kept him from his wife and child again. They will both be treated, th any luck, like the Bubonic Plague.

AND…for icing on the cake, I hope Jason throws in w/Michael to help him retain control of ELQ, and possibly help Michael do a backward takeover of some Cassadine holdings. Wouldn’t that be fun to watch? I don’t think Jason should ever become a corporate tycoon. But, watching him come full circle & consciously choose to be close to Michael & the Q’s, with a full memory, would feel appropriate for that character.

If Jason can forgive Sam for all the crazy crap she did which was worse and she never paid for (so OOC for Jason to do that even the actor said Jason would have never forgive her), I don’t see why he won’t in the future forgive Liz.

I’m so sick of Elizabeth being thrown under the bus for everyone else. They have trashed her for over six years. I’m done with this show. I just can’t watch it anymore. It makes no sense. Liz was never obsessed with Jason until RC just suddenly made her be. He planned to throw her under the bus with the DNA test but then Steve left. Jason and Liz went for years at a time without even talking and she didn’t give him a thought. And btw, Liz is not totally responsible for keeping stupid, boring Jasam apart the last time. Their own pride and stupidity was mostly responsible. Sam was kissing up to a cop that wanted to take down the organization, and Jason couldn’t get his head of his butt. That wasn’t Liz’s fault. I just want her away from both of them.

I think Jason will choose to be close to Michael no matter what, but I think that he will set out to destroy Nicolas, which will prevent him from taking over ELQ. I also think that when it comes full circle he will get the shares back from Franco…I think that Hayden told him who he was in the Emergency Room. The way he looked at Sam, and started to become interested in who she is, not to mention the look on his face when he came out of the room, even though he said she wasn’t able to tell him. I think Liz is going to end up pregnant; however, I think it will be Ricks. I read in a spoiler that both Liz and Sam have a pregnancy scare but neither are pregnant. I think Jason will throw in with Michael to get complete control again of ELQ, but I also think he is going to set out to destroy Nic. Robin told him, “you don’t know do you? Danny is your biological son”……Elizabeth is going to pay dearly for this, because she knew who he was, knew he had his son, and wife mourning him, let them believe he was dead, and kept it and him to herself…………..shit is gonna hit the fan!

Cee Cee, I never even remotely said or implied one has to be a writer to understand foreshadowing. I am not a writer and I get it! I do think this is a highly intelligent group and have said so often.
My criticism was directed toward Ron, not the viewers.

Cee Cee: (Sometimes our responses do not appear in the appropriate thread so it is hard to respond accordingly and therefore, our points jump around all willy nilly and no one knows what we are jabbering on about.)
We can argue or debate whether it was a good thing to let Ian go because that is predicated upon our opinion, not upon fact. But what is not up for debate is that Ian was let go by ABC because he was–it’s just a fact and debating that fact is ridiculous therein leading to my frustration with the deniers in the thread below. I do grow tired of people who willfully cling to being obtuse when they are smart enough to know better. Point of fact, Ian was let go just the way Sean Kanan as AJ was. No employed actor is going to elect to quit a good paying job in this tough market unless they’re set to hit the big time or they are Tony Geary, an incredibly highly paid veteran who has finally decided to retire. Michael Logan, of TV Guide has in fact reported that Ian was let go.
Even Suoo admits ABC let Ian go—her quibble was more about semantics as she objected the harshness the word “fired” conveys. She was not denying that he had been laid off.
I for one, hate that Ian was brought back only to have inconsistent, and illogical scripts thrown at him only to be killed off. I would rather have Duke not come back at all and let the memory of that beautiful character live on in the recesses of our imaginations. It’s sort of akin to Pink Floyd’s latest comeback tour sans Roger Waters– Dark Side of the Moon indeed!

B&B!

The high point for me was the wonderful discovery that Theresa and Brady had a beautiful baby, stolen and held by Kristen. I will keep the happy thought that this diabolical witch is really dead. …..she’ll be baaa-aaack.
….Never stop looking over your shoulders, Brady and Theresa….guard that baby well.

What if Kristen is still alive and has Theressa baby…..and the one Brady and Theressa have is someone elses? Somehow a baby switch was pulled? That would give Kristen yet again a reason to return?

LOL

that’s the reason we need you…. you’re always thinking : even better story!

great story for Eileen Davidson’ Kristen

The baby IS Theresa’s. Her bone marrow matched the baby;s. That was the sole reason that Kristen sent her conspirators to get a sample of Brady’s and Theresa’s blood.

Hi, Jimh!!!!!

I hope you get well soon! Keep the faith!!!

Hi, Jimh…..WELCOME !!!!!
I do think he’s really Theresa’s and Brady’s baby because Theresa gave little Tate her bone marrow. It was a definite match. I also believe a DNA test was done. But, jimh, since you always predict correctly just about everything,….anything is possible.

Finola Hughes and Ian Buchanan on GH were the high points. Too bad we were watching Duke die for the 3rd time.

Y&R and DOOL were the best with amazing writing. Stilll can’t wait to see what happens on Y&R and DOOL. They keep me coming back. GH was a huge disappointment. The NB looked cheap and should have been about HIV AIDS just mentioning it doesn’t count. the stories and forced couples don’t work. I don’t recognize the GH characters anymore. I mean the real GH characters before this regime took over and wrote or should I say rewrote GH characters. The new characters don’t fit. I miss my GH not this version of GH with too many actors who don’t belong on the show, the hybrid doesn’t work. It’s a mess,

I’m going with B&B.

Will Ridge finally take over the company? Did Bill do the right thing without incurring the wrath of his lesbian sister? Will Rick have a meltdown or play it smart and let his mother become CEO? Can Maya answer a cellphone?

Stay tuned to the next Bold and the Beautiful…

lol can maya answer a cellphone 🙂 definitely alot happening on B&B wouldn’t miss an episode right now its just so amazing

I’ve enjoyed this storyline, but I thought Rick’s reaction was a little unrealistic. I guess they didn’t want to infuriate any transgender fans. All I can say is my hubby wouldn’t have been so amazingly understanding, especially if he had Rick’s hot head personality.

totally agree….he becomes unglued when wife kisses another man but is o.k. with this……………please give us a break!!!!!

With this part of the storyline I am in a different mind set I was expecting Rick to go crazy but at the same time we do have to ask ourselves in comparison with what happened with Caroline. I believe completely that if Caroline had kissed anyone else but Ridge they would have worked it out and they would still be married. So we do have to be honest with the fact that by removing Ridge completely from the situation Rick actually can function like a normal human being and has the ability to process things. So putting that into context its more than with in his character to be angry that she didn’t tell him sooner than her actually being transgender and concluding that he still loves her. Also later on in those seens we clearily see Rick’s anger when he finds out Ridge knows confirming this even more .Of course what happened won’t always be the case in reality but in the soap world its a love story. I would also say that if your partner truly loves you it wouldn’t be an issue its certainly had me asking mine and the response I got was very positive

All the unpunished murder and violence on GH is growing very tiresome and is definitely not entertaining to me. I’m a long-time GH fan, but I find myself fast-forwarding my DVR an awful lot the last several months.

Sorry, but having NO Stone mention during the 20th Anniversary of his death is a HUGE MISTAKE!!! The NB would NEVER have Happened without Robin or Stone. This year while there were a couple great acts over the THREE days. It is hardly enough to make it worth while. The event is suppose to bring HIV/AIDS awareness and instead it seemed to be more about a woman who revived the NB… A Nanny Ball. She is no longer a practing Nurse. She was in more acts than Lucy had wardrobe changes!!! A huge disappointment!!! The event seemed cheap and put together very last minute.
Why couldn’t they wait until June like when they had the NB 1994-2001 So that It would have had plenty of time to ensure Kimberly’s return or pretaped scenes? Or where was Sonny, Monica, Tracy, Bobbie, , etc,… Seemed like more than half the town was missing….
Been watching over 4 decades and wish they NEVER brought it back!!!!!!

amen

Stone died in Late ’95. So they probably mention it if Robin is on in November.

Kristen’s demise, the abduction of Laura by Stephano, and the revelation of the Eve/JJ debacle. I didn’t get to watch Days for a few years because of a job. I started watching Days when it first started and I seldom missed a day. I retired last year but I’ve been able to record it since getting cable a few years ago. That has been such a boon. Please, you can’t cancel days until I die!

Stefano abducted Marlena.

General Hospital in my book!

Y & R has been the best in my book. B&B was a gigantic fail! Lastly, I was pleasantly surprised by Days. They were finally watchable.

Best : Maya/Myrons story and Stefano and Marlenas stroll down memory lane

Worst : a tie between the nurses Ball and young and restless .

Confucious say a show that revolves around Liz Webber has an audience that yawns

I liked the Stefano and Marlena stuff, but did you really like them more than the castle storyline involving Kristen, the baby, Theresa, Brady, the other baby, Dr. Mandrake and Clint, culminating with Marlena and Kristen’s scuffle resulting in Kristen falling out the window? Also, I believe the Eve, JJ and Paige storyline may have been most liked among DAYS’ storylines.

I agree…and i like Clyde and Ben becoming a new villain family.

I vote for GH!

GH hand down !!! It was full of drama, lies, and mayhem for May sweeps.

While I didn’t like all of the stories, the high points were the performances of some of the actors…Anna, Karla, Kelly/Cady and Peter Bergman. The low points…killing off Duke, what they are doing to Kelly on Y&R.

I agree with Rose.

General Hospital is always a winner in my book. They work so hard and put their all into everything they do.

GH…The show that gets “no respect”.

The Y&R double Jack stuff, I can’t get into it..

It is not suspenseful
It is not intriguing
it is not exciting
it is not intense
It is not high drama
what double Jacks is—> STUPID !

It is so obvious what is coming..
Marko/Jack is going to to kill real Jack and therefore Marco will be head of a billion dollar enterprise (after he takes care of Victor..

Marco/Jack is a hardened criminal and killer, he is very crime smart and knows how to work a scam and his plan is to get rid of Jack and Victor and be a billionaire, and have a kingdom..
It is coming, wait for it..

ohh he will kill Jack but Jake will survive his killing lol ..

I fully agree, su0000, the 2 Jacks is the stupidest , most crazy story that I have ever seen. Do the writers think that we are that stupid? There may be look alikes in the world but to be able to completely take over another’s life, speak like him, act like him and be able to convince his own wife and family is just going too far. Some foolish people say ” It’s only a Soap”. We like to watch Soaps because they are REAL stories that happen to REAL people . We are happy when they are happy and grieve when they are sad. We laugh and cry with them. If we want to live in Fantasy Land we will go back to Grimm’s Fairy tales. Enough of these nonsensical stories that insult our intelligence.

That bone marrow dont mean a thing on soaps….Theressa probably does have her baby…but there is always a soapy possibility Kristen had the baby switched and anyone can fake tests at a soapy hospital!!!

Oh, baby….I do soooo agree with you.
The Fake Jack flop is the most stupid and inconceivable story ever…….not even identical twins ( I have an identical twin) are EXACTLY THE SAME. So, this idiocy, is the fallacious and ludicrous brainstorm of someone’s ______ mind…..it ‘ain’t’ working, writers.!! We are too smart.

From another comment you posted, glad you don’t necessarily buy “out with old, in with new” adage. But there is something nice when all ages and stages are represented (and our viewers are much the same), and that there is some continuity when new characters are brought in, or the kids grow up. In fact many of the mid to older actors/characters were newbies once, too…it’s just that their storylines have more staying power over the years. At the same time I’m all for giving new characters a chance…we need them to keep interest and build the soap “bloodlines.” And then you have the killing of Duke…I know, I know, not one of your favorites, but it was more the manner they treated the character and Ian.

One thing I am missing in all of the soaps I watch, or watched like OLTL, etc, is we’ve lost so many patriarch/matriarch type characters. Would love to see them make an appearance…one in a while. So many of these stories are built on the family dynasty theme. :))

@Rose.
I know what you mean. I loved…still love, every single character that graced the OLTL stage. Young, old and in-between…I could never find fault with any of the actors/actresses or the characters they played. ….miss them all.
Nonetheless, Rose. Who do you consider the matriarch and patriarch on GH? I thought these were Edward and Lila Quartermaine. They cannot come back, for obvious reasons.
We still have Caroline as the Brady family matriarch; and, Victor as the Kiriakis family patriarch on DOOL.
No one has been crowned yet to take these fine actors’/actresses’ place.

But, if you mean vets….I would love to see some Y&R vets, such as John Abbot, Nina or Mackenzie. I would even welcome both the Tom siblings….to name a few.
I would also love to see Carly back on Days.

sweeps as follow:

1. GH
2. DAYS
3. B&B
4. Y&R

Agree.

I think GH did a great job this month, as did B&B. Y&R was good, but it felt like any other month and not a main-event month, where big reveals are supposed to happen. I’m not a regular viewer of DAYS anymore, but I have seen a few episodes here and there, and in my opinion, the quality of the show has gone way down recently. Hopefully it can rebound by the 50th anniversary celebration.

I’m obviously a huge B&B fan so obviously I’m going with B&B because they have really stepped it up so many characters are came into play during May sweeps and its make for one amazing love story & power struggle for FC

This episode with the two Jacks is stupid. It is not interesting. The Y&R is notorious for taking their storylines so long before you find out what up. I am sick of Adam and Chelsea. Why does every woman sleeps with every man they meet on the first date?
I’m sick of Neil and Nikki Newman drinking. Can’t the writers come up with something else for them? I’m glad Kelly is off the show because she was boring. What’s wrong with the Y&R, it has lost its storyline. It is a whole lot of JUNK episodes. It was more of a storyline when the old Phyllis, Billy, Mrs. Chancellor, Tucker, etc. was playing in it. I am sick and tired of Devon and Hillary…this is very boring. It’s time for Sharon to leave she is boring now. She has been to bed with practically every man on the set. Sharon and Dillan? Really? Who will she sleep with next? Can Dillan ever support himself? Does he always have to move in with every woman? The Y&R has lost its pop. Sick and tired of Y&R

you said it perfectly….

Dylan has his own apartment (the one he lived in with Chelsea). He owns a business so he can support himself. Agree that Shylan sucks.

the only shows to hold my interest and make me watch everyday were GH and B&B.

GH for the Nurses Ball aftermath & the live episodes.

B&B for the story of Maya’s transgenderism being slowly revealed to everyone.

DAYS and Y&R were once again NOT-Must See TV. they are doing a disservice to their long time & new viewers. each show has at least a dozen things terrible with it and TPTB don’t seem to care.

I was least interested in YR as I do NOT like doppelgänger stories. Bold and Beautiful, Days, & GH all kept my interest with most of their stories moving forward.

DAYS for certain. GH ruined itself killing off Ian Buchanan’s character.

Ian Buchanan left the show, he wasn’t fired. Everybody gets used to a person acting a part and presume that they have to do so until they die in real life. How stupid is that. Actors leave for their own reasons and while it takes us a while to get used to someone else taking the part, we have to accept it and learn to give the newcomer a chance. .. or stop watching altogether. What’s your pleasure?

Not sure where you heard that he was not fired, written out or “let go.” If true I missed it. My choice is to not watch unless there’s quality writing.

Did you read that Ian wanted off the show…and if so…permanently? Can you share the site where you read that!

? Not !

oops hit enter too fast….and if he decided to leave the show, which I still have not heard anywhere, why did he have to be killed off? There are lots of ways to salvage characters. GH is just not my cup of tea anymore, and was watching since 1976….it’s just unrecognizable.

Many of us are disapointed Ian left the show whether he left on his own or was fired. So if we comment on it its ‘our pleasure’ to do so and we could care less if you like it or not!!!

Ian was laid off, fired, written off, given a permanent vacation–I do not understand why some of you want to deny that fact. It was not Ian’s choice to leave. Now stop with this nonsense.

Verna, you are just plain wrong and Sharon, I have no idea what point you are trying to make.
This kind of collective idiocy gives me a headache.

Lol, Harry. Semantics at its finest here…

In Sharon’s defense, she was responding to Verna’s love it or leave it regarding Ian….

Bottom line? I think the new Ava needs to have AJ and Duke walk in right behind her! Heck…bring em all back. I call redo!

I was more upset by the trashing of Liz.

Lots of actors can take time off soaps for reasons of their own…look at Tony Geary, Finola, Brooke in B&B, to have a baby, or other acting opportunities. They don’t have to kill their character. That’s what makes me wonder what really went down with Ian. But the one thing that can be said about his Storyline in GH once he was saved from the clinic by Anna, it was lacklustre. Maybe Ian felt that way, too.

Harry…just to clarify…by semantics I was referring to, and sgreeing with you, regarding Ian and laid off, etc.

Concerning Ian Buchanan please read the interview he had with SOD May 25! He was told he was being written out the interview is quite humorous etc. Does he miss the show yes is he mad at anyone not that I could tell a very interesting read. He jokes about being back and not knowing where his bed was if you can get your hands on a copy do it. RC brought a bunch of old favorites back for the 50th I don’t think his intention was to ever keep them all on forever. Two biggest gripes I have is I just wish he had left Liz out of this Jake/Jason story because the actress for some reason gets so much grief over playing a character on a soap and Nina/Fraco serve no purpose they are like on a separate planet!

Well, it wouldn’t have been my choice, but Ian was barely on. Also wouldn’t have bee my choice. He’s a superb actor. If he had been front burner it would’ve have been more damaging.

GH Nurses Ball.

I agree. Even if I want to kill Liz she was very engaging & the NB over all. Not the best NB or the worst, as always it was entertaining.

The only thing I will say about this I am so glad it is over for Cady McClain to watch a fine actress to be put thru what she has deserves a Big Bravo. Good Luck to you Cady !!

i so agree – the storyline sucked but she made lemonade out of the sour lemons that tptb gave her – her acting was phenomenal…………….

Y&R brought Cady McClain in and made her a crazy,,
Y&R brought in the great Debbi Morgan/Angie AMC and made her a hillbilly drug addict..
They brought in Darnell/Jesse AMC and did nothing with him..
Y&R brought in together one of greatest super couples (Jesse and Angie) and gave them horrible degrading characters to portray, used then them let them go…
what a waste of high power talent,,
Tristan is just another waste..
I believe they all were merely used as the doggie in the window to get ratings..

Suoo, I did agree with your summation of Y&R. However, it does perplex me why you do not apply the same criteria to GH which is just as guilty, if not more so, of writing flimsy, plot driven stories which border on being campy and just plain ridiculous.

I really, really dislike with they did with Cady. Su0000…good summary. But Harry does have a point.

OMG to see her baby talking to Jack, I was embarrassed for her! No wonder Cady was so depressed about filming her departure!

The reveal of Eve & JJ’s secret on Days, along with Paul punching Will, was about the only good thing on there. The soap is terrible right now, as can be seen with their poor ratings. B&B isn’t as good as it used to be but it’s been much better than any of the other 3 soaps, so I’m giving it my stamp of approval.

Since I only watch one soap, all I can say is “Y & R” is SUCKING A**!!

I can barely make through a single episode – why??

1) Horribly contrived & plot-driven so-called storylines with such huge gaping holes I could drive a Semi Tractor Trailer thru them!
2) Characters acting WAY out of character just to accommodate a ready-made storyline.
3) MIA characters – where’s Jill, Esther, & Colin?
4) Another psycho woman who dies tragically – REALLY?!?

PLEASE WAKE ME WHEN THIS SHIZZ IS OVER AND ANY RESEMBLENCE TO BILL BELL’S “Y & R” MAKES IT TO THE AIRWAVES!!

Until then, I’m done for the time being…

I am trying to figure out why they renewed Tristan’s contract they do not use him and I thought basically Jess had retired to Oregon. Tell me did Billy ever know she was in a plane crash?

The time before when Tristan was with Y&R he was rarely used then..
now this time he has had a wee bit of screen time doing not much of anything..
Tristan was at his best with with GH as Robert Scorpio .. he rocked that role..

suooo, Robert Scorpio has not rocked on GH in the last 10 years. Not the actor’s fault, but Bob Guza’s and later, Ron C’s. Y&R has wasted him but so has GH in the last 10 years. In the latter’s case it is much worse considering Robert Scorpio bloomed into soap opera immortality on GH.

Actually, because Duke’s gone, this could be a great time to bring back Robert back for Anna. They both need a “new life.” I’m sure the writers could find cool things for them to do using their spy skills. With a little humor and not so intense. Plus, at one time they were a least a semi-super couple.

Why anyone is not utilizing this actor more U.S. Beyond me. He exudes charm…

Screw auto correct. IS not US!

Tristan cannot get back to GH quick enough!

I would have to say B&B. CBS is doing a great s/l on transgender with sensitivity and acceptance. Also very happy with GH, Y&R a viewer of soaps for over 40 yrs!

Cathy, I could not agree more!!! The rate they are going. This longterm viewer of 43+ years will be tuning out with Tony Geary!!!

Well, no surprises here–I can see why GH is dead last in viewers? What incentive do the loyal viewers have to stay with GH when the writing and storylines are so atrocious.
And, most importantly, the Fluke violation of Luke just jumped the shark and alienated longtime viewers like me. When TPTB (and actors) thumb their noses at the viewer, the viewer is smart enough to pick up on it.

GH is not ”dead last..
When GH was on the chopping block Nov/Dec 2012 it had 2.1 million viewers..
Now, GH has near 3 million viewers.. (pretty good huh 🙂

But still su0000, with the Nurses Ball, live performance gimmick, the large investment in time and emotion to the Fluke story, the here today/gone tomorrow, one-time and recurring cool actors, you would hope GH could be closer to the numbers of Y&R and B&B.

Just take a moment to consider the storytelling, lack of continuity with past, present, and possible future, the constant crime and guns (and you can still keep some crime and Sonny), and losing or killing off favorite actors (at least for some of us who help keep the numbers where they are) might need some rethink to keep all viewers happy and keep attracting new ones.

GH sucks and is unwatchable.

Not true. It just needs more love stories and a little less violence and build the Q’s back up. ALL the soaps have issues. GH is not at the top of that list.

Nancy, you need to familiarize yourself with the ratings. GH is not last.

DAYS is the only soap to go up in all demos! If you’re a woman 25-54 and watch DAYS…THANK YOU! You were part of the 215,000 gained viewers!! If you’re a woman 25-54 who doesn’t watch…WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!

Bo, Steve and Tony/Andre are on their way!!! Kimberly is already here! Watch!!!!!

DAYS started the sweeps period with a lot of action and ended with a lot of action…DON’T MISS A DAY OF DAYS!!!!!

What will Paige do with the revelation that her own mother and boyfriend had an affair? Will she become psychotic, suicidal or meaner than Eve and Theresa combined?

I only watch Y&R so naturally I am “glued” to it, but I am loving the way the show is being written now. It’s got more twists and turns and we can’t just guess what’s coming next.
On one hand, I can’t wait for the Adam reveal to Chelsea, and on the other, I’m glad they’re building the suspense and passion.
Kelly and Tobias are dead, that’s two witnesses to Victor’s plan gone, I expect Faux Jack to be next. That way, all the witnesses that we know of are gone and Victor can claim he was scammed as well. JMO

Hmmmm. I dont’t know about that. Yes, lots of twists and turns …very infantile, though. What is happening on Y&R R now, Sammie is for babies. The writers turned Cady, a perfectly good actress, into Jessica Rabbit….Peter into Frito Bandito. Nikki, into a hopeless, mindless drunk, Victoria, a semi-virago….etc. Not appetizing fare for the thinking mind.

Is the real Jack back? Who’s at thr door? That’s the only thing which will right things for me. I want to see the dragon’s (demon) head which coincidentally, looks just like Victor’s, under St. George’s horse’s hoof, sword in hand as he slices and separates its head from its body. Pretty gruesome and bloodthirsty, I am. LOL. Later, Sammie.

As far as GH is concerned, wake me up when Genie (Laura) is back.

Genie is not going to be a knight in shinning armor. First she is too late in returning. Secondly, she is a one trick pony. She is Luke’s love, thats it!

Genie/Laura will be a snore
there is nothing for her do on GH but be a grandma lol
There is no love interests hanging around for her but Scotty, and that’s a big been there done that and they simply not a great couple..
I do not see Genie/Laura being regularly used, she will not have a big story, she will just be hanging around ..

Oh Timmm, you are so ZZZZ sometimes. Genie Francis is engaging no matter which soap she’s on. I can never take my eyes off of her. Her son needs the back of her hand on his face-there will be plenty for her to do just straightening him out.

@Laurie. Genie was a young love of Luke’s that turned into a history making soap wedding. When she was innocent and her and Luke were on the run, it was magic. That was 35 years ago! In her defense she has never gotten written by the writers past that story. She once said she would not ever come back to GH just to play a victim. She did go to Y&R and play a businesswomen rather convincingly and I wish she would return to that role after they send Luke away.

Actually I am surprised to say it, but I honestly think Days had the best sweeps stories. Brady and Theresa finding out they are parents, Kristen going out the window, Stefano kidnapping Marlena, the clips from the past, the JJ and Eve reveal– all classic soap stories, all sweeps worthy material.

After Days I would say Bold and the Beautiful had the best story. I liked Maya’s reveal to Rick, and Rick trying to be okay with it, but I think long term he might have issues with it. I was not a fan of the “scandal aspect” of being transgender being pushed by Bill. She used to be guy, not a mass murderer, so grow up, in this day and age I don’t think it would be such a “scandal” in most people’s eyes, so having watch Bill gloat was sickening on so many levels.

After them, I say GH sweeps stories are next in line. The NB was a disappointment, a complete redo of last year’s ball for the most part. I honestly think at this point the NB gives Ron a reason to put his hunkiest actors out there in their underwear, otherwise they might not bother and it is the only time we get to see Milo anymore. The first live show was the better of the two, but overall the live show’s were a novelty–and for me didn’t really add anything to show, but didn’t take away anything either.

Lastly the worse sweeps for me was Y&R– I honestly don’t remember anything standing out. Lately all the episodes are blurring together in one endless story of blah. Considering what they did for Feb. sweeps I am surprised they went so low key for May, but obviously the stories are appealing to some because the ratings did go up.

Read my comment below. I thought I clicked reply. lol

You bet, Mary. Days is the dark horse…But, I have enjoyed this show so much, the past few months. You know about the hare and the tortoise….? There we go!

I can’t stand GH anymore. I just can’t believe the way this regime has written Patrick, Robin and Anna. I don’t want to see GH cancelled, but where’s the heart of the story? Consistency and Character motivation? All I have seen are endless plot points and Character being more dumber

Add liz to that list.

tina
there is no Patrick and Robin to write for..
Kim wanted out, she left, walked out on her fans and was written out..
Anna has been given excellent material showcasing her talent. ..
Patrick is giggly happy with Sam, for now..
All is good

I have watched Days for over 40 years. I watched all the other soaps at one time or another. Only one held my attentions. Having said that I must say there is
No better soap than Days in my opinion. I am definitely a loyal fan of Days.

Hi Mary,

Do you watch all the soaps regularly? If so, do you watch live or on DVR? Maybe a few episodes of one soap followed by a few of another and so on? Do you fast forward anything? I estimate that all the soaps total about 125 minutes without commercials and credits. Sound right?

Do you think the Eve, JJ and Paige storyline will help the Demos more next week? I must admit…Every now and then I would wonder how Charlotte Ross would play these scenes, but from here on out KASSIE IS EVE!

I do watch the remaining soaps regularly as they air. I have satellite so if for any reason I cannot watch when they air in my time zone,I can watch them later in another time zone.

I live in Canada, so my viewership doesn’t help in the States, but it does help the Canadian broadcaster determine if purchasing the rights to air said soap in Canada is worth it, so I imagine the production companies of each soap benefits from those revenues.

I try not to tape them because I find it too tempting to FF, and I really feel this genre plays better with the commercials– it is that small element of suspense, waiting for the reveal, even for the three/four minutes during the ad break, makes the reveals or scenes more satisfying. It is very old school, but soaps are more fun when you can anticipate the next scene instead of going right there by pressing a button on the remote. But if there something on screen I really cannot bear to watch I might flip to another station for a minute of two until said scene is over– but for the most part I try to watch everything, even the boring parts.

Your estimate sounds right, maybe a bit more, but in that neighbor for sure.

I hope the JJ, Paige and Eve story line does help with the numbers– I don’t follow spoilers so I was unaware the reveal was coming last week. I was watching, so I caught it, but I am bit worried others who might have tuned out thinking nothing was happening might have missed it. I hope the numbers will reflect how great those scenes were–yet maybe the biggest tell will be the numbers for the week coming up. To see if word of mouth, or hype will lure back some disenchanted viewers who gave up, once they hear Days is getting back on track.

I do think Kassie’s recent performance has given Eve the vulnerability that was missing before now. There is a part of me that now can see how this older woman might developed feelings for this young guy. When you come from such a background as Eve, she never had a chance to be young, she had to grow up real fast– watching Eve during this reveal, I got a sense there is a part of her, who just longs to have what her daughter has– Physically, she may be in her forties, but emotionally, I think she still 16, longing to have what all young girls dream of- and the conflict what she dreams of having and what she can have, just exploded in her face. At least that is what I’m seeing on screen– don’t know if Charlotte would have played it that way– but I think got what Kassie was going for.

Mary, Thank you for the response. You’re an excellent writer! I hope DAYS goes on a long upswing. It will be a bonus to hear your thoughts as it gets progressively better. I have high hopes for the 50th and beyond!

????

character “repair”

just moving on… now… even if it’s if …. the writers develop a relationship with JJ and Eve

I don’t think that’s how this will play out… but an understanding between these two “wonderful” sublimely acted… by two diverse, actors, couldn’t be any more different? couldn’t have been played any differently

I love the acting chops of Casey Moss and Kassie DePaiva

soapcentral.com said it best… it took this long… for this story to unfold…

“…I’m so relieved that the Jeve storyline can move on. It started during Sami’s last week on the show. We’ve had Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and two Kristen exits since then. Tick tock, kids! ”

let the chips fall where they may…. let’s see how these three characters plight.

True O’Brien
Kassie DePaiva
Casey Moss

I like these three’ acting abilities… they draw

as already stated : for and about DAYS

with the new writing and production team… on the horizon… ALL the rest of the cast…. with, (hopefully, careful recasting of Will and Sonny for dynamic Paul) to steer onward and upward

I’m so looking forward to JJ and Eve flight

SOAR

character “repair”

lol

revitalized characters… moving on with layers of original new material ???

even if , we see JJ slide back in to the darkside
and Eve’ past is explored

however, long the duration of Paige… why not have her acting off of her moms past entanglements

jumping the gun exploring and venturing her newfound freedoms and loss

whew! I’m just glad.. that it’s past

I follow what you are saying, Mary. You make the excellent point that Eve is human, afterall….her vulnerability shows how fragile her persona truly is. But, in my opinion, only because she got caught. If Eve had not been found out, she would have continued running straight toward destruction taking Paige with her and anyone else in her way. She was not thinking of anyone but herself and her needs. She did not want Paige to be involved with JJ….fine, I get that. But, there are more ‘sensible’ and plausible ways to have torn them apart. And, yes, Mary….there is a strong possibility that Eve envied her own daughter and wanted JJ for herself….no one else seems to take an interest in her. She tried her hand with Daniel without avail. Sooo…..her fangs went right to the young, inexperienced pup’s jugular.
I can understand how in her twisted mind she did it because she knew she could….to prove something to herself……that she is losing her youth, and she is overcome with longings of what was….or, she just has those old, and refined slutty instincs that will not abate.
But, how does a mother hurt her own daughter so? Perhaps if it had been anyone else other than her daughter’s boyfriend, I could have been more receptive to the lurid ‘liaison’.
Other than the fact that Kassie is an excellent actress, I feel no pity for Eve.
This character is among many women and men in real life who cross the line.
Although Kassie has a smashing body and looks fantastic, she is 54…..I do not know how old Eve is supposed to be, but even in her forties, no woman/man has no moral right to engage in sexual activities with a 20-year-old….especially not if he/she is one’s daughter’s boyfriend/girlfriend. It is gross, disgusting, undignified and without integrity.
Nonetheless, I do admire your gracious understanding of this this type of behavior in people. I am not as charitable.

Days Of Our Lives! The May sweeps have been great. I especially loved this week when Paige found out what was going on between her mother, Eve, and JJ. She should get an Emmy for her acting skills this week. When she confronted her mother and grabbed her in that painful hug and then slapped her. Wow! And then she let JJ have it. I was also glad that Brady & Theresa found there baby. I was kind of sad that Kristen was killed off. I am really excited about all the old favorites that are coming back on the show, especially Bo and Patch!

I agree, Regina. Both True O’Brien and Kassie DePaiva outdid themselves. Their acting was incredibly heart-wrenching. Yes, worthy of an Emmy for both.

Hmmmm. Regina? reine? Your names both mean ‘queen’….coincidence? LOL.

I watch 2 soaps, Y&R & GH & both can have real stupid S/L but do prefer Y&R. I’m disgusted with what they did with Cady as I wanted her to remain on the show & don’t like how they repeat S/L like fake Jack & another whose the babies father S/L which we see about every 6 mos. or so. I do love Adam & Chelsea yet have a feeling that Adam will be the baby although she just slept with him. I hope she is lying about being pregnant because she is quite odd. I thought we were going to start seeing the old Sharon but the writing for her is the same, crazy as ever. They don’t portray someone with bi-polar very well & wish they would stop it.

As much as I don’t like the perspective, I think they needed Bill to revert to his jerkness to expose the worse in media and attitudes some people have on diverse issues. Sometimes, as many have pointed out, soaps can be stories to learn from.

Feel much the same about the Nurses Ball. Especially since it’s supposed to be family entertainment for viewers in Port Charles, and has other kids as performers. And it shouldn’t be the venue for the big Carly expose. Like her sense of justice in the Jake story, but she has not sense of decorum.

I also think it was grander before because it was tied into GH’s Anniversary. But there still were some high points this year which showcased some of the other things GH actors can do.

Days of our lives was the best. It had me glued to the TV set. All the soaps are good but days is number 1

Me too,GH is been my favourite soap to watch will always support it I don’t think I miss duke but I do like the new guy Sloane for Anna

New Sloane has Zero chemistry with Anna. If they were going with Sloane at least Robb Derringer had some chemistry with Finola!

Sloane and Anna are hot..
I’m looking forward to them being a couple, they won’t be dull that is for sure..

I didn’t care much for Duke and Anna, they were lackluster..

GH keeps me glued to the TV! Y&R is just sooo stupid!

GH under this regime almost always produces my favorite sweeps. I like most of the writing in general. Sweeps is just a shot in the arm. I know that RC changed the Fluke s/l and it was stated it was after fans guessed the possible outcome, but perhaps it was because there was a lot of fan disappointment attached to that theory? No matter, the reveal was fantastic and it was a smart choice to change it!! I predict they’ve probably changed the Jason Morgan reveal as well, and more than once. Surely this is not the only writer that does this? I think not. I also know that RC engages in social media snark w/others at times, but as far as M Logan, I’ve seen him drag actors & writers before as well, so little do I care. Oh well.
B&B and Days had some good moments. Even if you don’t accept reaction to the transgender character’s reveal, the acting is fantastic. Speak of changing direction, Mr. Bell changes things all of the time does he not? He even changes the history and he is the writer who wrote the history!! LOL
I don’t even know what to say about Y&R. I have nothing good to say, so I’ll stop there.

Both GH and Y&R came out of the gate strong for May sweeps but that was ONE week, these past couple weeks have been really weak!

GH SWEEPS: The Nurse Ball was horrible and the live shows were event-less. Robin not being on the show really hurts. Ian and Finola leaving really hurts. One wish I have had since GH was saved by Frank and Ron is rebuilding the Quartermaines. Well, Monica has been about as much as a ghost as Alan and the great Wally Kurth is leaving. Michael sucks and him being in charge of ELQ is a freakin joke! I love Michelle Stafford but her character is a bust! Rebecca Budig as Hayden was great and they put her in a coma! Dumb!

Y&R: I dont mind Jack/Yack BUT the way they dumbed down Kelly was so uncomfortable. Here is a lady who could act and had chemistry with Jack and is done graded to a psycho sex fiend! I look forward to Yack turning on Victor. Speaking of Victor, he fawns all over Victoria to come back to Newman and now he is treating her like a ten year old and threatening her! Nicki as a drunk AGAIN! We all bitched about Burgess playing Billy but he is growing on me AND our negative energy should be aimed at Stitch. I hate the character and I think the actor SUCKS! Lastly, its time to either reveal Gabe’s identity OR have him commit to always being Gabe.

One side note. Sharon Case strolled into the Newman/Abbott party on Friday’s show with Dylan and she looked like a million bucks. Kisses Sharon!

Everything you said, Timmm. I cannot think of anything else ….love your post…

Your sweet, thank you.

GH and B&B by far were the best!

Days Of Our Lives

Days of our Lives Star, Greg Vaughan, Gives Health Update and Thanks Everyone for Their Support

Greg Vaughan (Eric, Days of our Lives, ex-Lucky, GH, and ex-Diego, Y&R) provided an update on his health on Sunday, March 17th. Vaughan had previously shared that he had become ill during a trip with his sons to Colorado, and had developed altitude sickness when he was having trouble breathing accompanied by terrible headaches and landed in the urgent care.

Now on St. Patrick’s Day, Greg took to his Instagram and shared how he is feeling now, and to thank everyone for their love and support.  As it turned out, Vaughan was diagnosed with high altitude pulmonary edema, commonly known as HAPE. However, he is on the mend slowly and surely.

In his new video post, the DAYS favorite started by expressing, “I just felt such an appreciation and gratitude for everything. . reaching out. Your prayers have been felt. It’s been a struggle, but I’m over the top. And, taking this moment just to say I didn’t realize the things that I was going through. My (original) post was simply just to educate, put some information out there and some things that I was feeling, just share that information and the struggle that I was going through, which I didn’t quite understand. And it wasn’t because I’m stubborn or just because I’m a father, a man, and didn’t want to go to a doctor. It is just something I thought was so minor that I could overcome it, just by taking care of myself.”

The Daytime Emmy winner then revealed his actual diagnosis, “So, basically my situation was high altitude pulmonary edema (HAPE). With some good friends, doctors that had reached out to me, it kind of gave me some understanding on the aftermath, which was very, very beneficial.”

“But I’ve been resting, taking care of myself even though I live in a hamster wheel,” said the dad of three teenaged boys. “I gotta get up and, you know, do my normal domesticated stuff, eventually. I’m tired of laying down in this bed, but, I am feeling much better.”

Photo: GVaughanIG

Talking on his confusion of trying to understand what could have been ailing him, Vaughan expressed, “I couldn’t quite figure it out, even though I was emphasizing and professing to my children going on our spring break getaway about hydration. I professed it. But, even though I was acting on it, it had a greater effect on me, and for which I did not even think, because my head was such in pain, and I was in a very bad state of mind – not being able to be out there with my kids on the mountain, enjoying their time, as well. I thought I was doing the right thing. Unfortunately, my lungs were full of fluids and my head was in severe pain and even migraine pills didn’t even help. So, I just want anybody that goes into the Colorado Mountains to know, it is no joke. It is this very serious thing which I guess is why they call it the Mile High City.”

Greg had a mountain of ‘thank you’s’ to give for the outreach he received from his original post, “For everybody internationally, wherever you are, I love you and I appreciate you and just the time and the thoughts that you’ve shared with me,” said Vaughan. “I didn’t realize that it would make such an impression on so many people around the world. I feel tremendously loved and I can’t say it enough. I’m good. And I appreciate you.”

Photo: GVaughanIG

The actor concluded his video with, “To all the family and friends that have reached out to me, man, it means the world. So take care of yourself, enjoy your spring break with your families. It’s Saint Patty’s Day, obviously. I wish I could be out there.” Vaughan added, “I feel loved and touched and I can’t emphasize that enough. I’ll take better care of myself, promise you will do the same.” Before he signed off, Greg shared, “Just know, that I’m alive and well and breathing, and I’m sore. So, be well, take care. I mean it. Thank you, tremendously.”

Glad to know that Greg has been on the mend, and shared his appreciation for everyone that reached out to him during this trying time? Comment below.

‘Access Hollywood’ and ‘Couple to Throuple’ Host Scott Evans to Appear on Days of our Lives

Scott Evans, host of Access Hollywood and the Peacock reality series Couple to Throuple, will make a guest appearance this week on Days of our Lives.

Circle the Thursday, March 21st episode of DAYS for Evans’ arrival in Salem. During his tape date last fall (since DAYS tapes months well ahead of when episodes actually stream), Scott posed for a snap alongside Mary Beth Evans (Kayla), Jackée Harry (Paulina), James Reynolds (Abe) and Greg Rikaart (Leo).

Teasers for the 3/21 episode of DAYS share that Leo tries to come up with his next gossip column, and Paulina and Abe return home to a mini-celebration set up by Johnny and Steve. Will Evans pop up in one of those scenarios? Stay tuned.

Days of our Lives Star Greg Vaughan Shares Sudden Health Scare: “I Truly Feel Like I Work & Live in a Soap Opera!”

What started out as an adventure with his sons, quickly turned into a nightmare for Days of our Lives Daytime Emmy winner, Greg Vaughan (Eric Brady).

In a series of Instagram posts, Vaughan shared the sudden health crisis he found himself in.  The images show Greg with an oxygen tank to help him breathe.

The actor began to fill people, sharing, “I’ve said more than a few times, I truly feel like I work & live in a Soap Opera! 🤪 this trip was nothing short of another great Vaughan adventure!”

He went on to say that on a father and son Colorado spring break trip, he began to feel shortness of breath, feeling tired and with a headache and after two days of hoping he would feel better, Vaughan finally went to an Urgent Care to get checked out.

“I finally surrendered & went to urgent care and to my shock I learned that I was experiencing severe altitude sickness.” Vaughan admitted. “My Blood Oxygen was at 54% & my lungs were full of fluids! Blood oxygen, also known as oxygen saturation, represents the percentage of hemoglobin in your red blood cells that is carrying oxygen. Most people have an oxygen level of 95-100%….”

Providing more detail to his health scare, Greg shared, “Well, 4hrs later, a couple of bags of IV & oxygen tank strapped to my face, I was told that I needed to immediately get off the mountain! However I couldn’t, we still had another day to go & wanting the boys to enjoy their last day on the hill tops! I opted to go home with an oxygen tank, a good laugh for everyone, and I know will follow, but my boys looked after their old man & fortunately they had friends on this trip!”

The experience of altitude sickness in the Colorado Rockies gave Vaughan a bit of a new perspective, “In all seriousness, no matter your age, and all the times I’ve ⛷️ & 🏂 in my lifetime, Colorado Rockies is no joke! As they say, ‘ take a breathe and smell the roses!’ That is truly something we need to remember & appreciate! #recover”
