RATINGS: OLTL holding strong! B&B sinks to new low!

Ah the irony. As we stated last week, One Life to Live, (that just canceled soap), is still holding strong in total viewers slightly under GH. OLTL is also  number three for women 18-49, a key demographic, and getting dangerously close to upping the ABC Daytime mainstay General Hospital! And, this is a show that should be axed from the network? Call me perplexed.

The info of One Life to Live being at number three and number four in key ratings was just posted by Soap Opera Network for the week of April 11-15th.  In other ratings news, the show that took the worst hit was The Bold and the Beautiful who hit an all-time low losing, wait for this, a record -508.000 viewers.  Not good folks.  B&B also tied its record lows in the key demos of 18-49 females.   DAYS isn’t doing much better tying or setting new lows in key demographics.

If more soaps are not to be “killed-off” then people have got to tune-in.  Let’s get some eyeballs to the televisions!  Even if some of the soaps storyline are giving us an eyesore! What’s a soaper to do?  After the jump, review the ratings.

Maybe niki smith will push the ratings up even higher…and then roger howarth. I wouldnt be shocked if oltl takes number 2 spot soon. This decision was premature. I am beyond angry. Oltl is my all time favorite show. I cant imagine a day without viki and dorian.

Oprah seems to have forgotten where she came from, however the fact that she felt the need to respond show we must have a lot of soap opera fans getting through.

WOO HOO !!! NICE !!!

I’m in the 18 to 49 demagraphic -back end to be precise !!!

LOVE,LOVE,LOVE OLTL !!

WILL KEEP WATCHING !!

Advertisers should change their thinking about ‘key’ demographics. Can’t believe that they don’t care about millions of soap viewers per show. I am older than the key age and can guarantee that I spend more than most 18 year olds!

With the counting of viewers, does it count those of us who watch OLTL or AMC on soap net in the evenings or recording from ABC ? I record daily OLTL and General hospital from soap net due to shows not getting cut out due to breaking news etc. Just wondering because I’m sure theres lot’s of us.

One Life to Live is always amazing. Not a big fan of Niki but happy to see that Jean Randolph may be making an appearance soon.

I’m a fan of all three abc soaps I watch them daily via DVR. I am devasted about oltl…I think its the best one! I hope something will change cause I can’t imagine not watching it…shame on Oprah ! I can’t believe she said no!! I think oltl has the best actors & actresses ..

B&B should feature Jack Wagner prominently instead of using him for thinly disguised advertisements, diseases of the week, a sounding board, etc. Then they might win back some of those 18-49 females. Nick Marone was a strong, dynamic and refreshing character, but he’s been written into bland territory and is more and more like the other characters.

B&B Should stop causing conflict with Liam and Hope.I find Liam charming. I am a 41 yr old who adores this couple together. I think B&B is losing ratings because no romance lasts long enough for anyone to enjoy. Thomas and Brooke is a ridiculous storyline. I’m glad to see Adrienne Frantz (AMBER) back but I cant stand her mother (TAWNY). Also they dragged her down putting her back into a bimbo storyline. She was awesome on Y&R! Good golly she is too old to be messing around with Oliver and Liam anyway.I’ve been watching since day one and know the whole history of Amber and Rick. It’s sick to place Amber a generation older than Liam,Oliver and Hope into a love circle. They are teeny boppers compared to Amber.
