REPORT: Even More Major Advertisers Bail From THE VIEW In Wake Of Miss America/Nurses Mockery!

What started as out as two national advertisers on Thursday pulling out of the ABC‘s morning talker, The View has now gone up to five as of late Friday!

According to TMZ.com you add: Party City, McCormack and Snuggle to the advertiser list, along with previously announced Johnson & Johnson and Eggland’s Best that have decided to remove their ads from the program.

It all stems from comments made earlier in the week by co-hosts Joy Behar and Michelle Collins, who poked fun at Miss America contestant Kelly Johnson.  Kelly, who was Miss Colorado, during the talent portion of the competition performed a “nursing monologue” dressed in hospital scrubs with a stethoscope around her neck. It was her attempt to deliver an emotional monologue about her chosen profession.

Collins first mocked it saying, “Shockingly (she) did not win.”  And Behar joked, “Why does she have a doctor’s stethoscope on?”  That raised the ire of the entire nursing community!  Even a #NursesUnite hashtag went viral after the commentary that was seemingly meant in jest by The View panelists, but not perceived that way by many in the viewing public.

McCormick, a Fortune 1000 company, replied on Facebook to an upset consumer, “Like you, we also value and admire nurses, so we have paused advertising on the daytime television show.”   However on Friday’s airshow, The View honored the nursing community and attempted to do some damage control by learning more about their life-saving profession by having some nurses with them during a segment of the broadcast.

So we ask:  Should The View just be cancelled at this point?  Did you take  offense to Collins and Behar’s comments, or were you thinking the same thing watching Miss Colorado’s performance?  What do you think about all the major advertisers pulling out of the show?

Watch Miss Colorado’s performance during Miss America that has spawned the headlines for The View below! And then, watch the clip of Behar welcoming guests from the nursing profession from today’s episode of the morning talker.  Then it’s your turn.  Weigh-in on The View’s latest debacle in the comment section below!

Cancel them hags!

All of this is ridiculous. Nurses work hard, but since when is having an opinion on a talk show titled The View wrong? I think they’ve done enough apologizing.

Exactly. And how is mocking a beauty-pageant contestant’s performance the same as mocking all nurses everywhere? Soon, no one will be able to say anything at all.

Exactly. Let’s all move to Russia. Lots of freedoms there, right. Sonniorsolita?

It goes beyond attacking a nurse. This women was not some bimbo with her boobs hanging out! This was a clean cut women who helps others and isnt your typical gold digger! These yentas on the View attacked her with any disregard to what its like to work a real job and not have 10 people pampering you every day!

Cancel the trainwreck. This show stopped being important four years ago. Whoopi is a snooze. The other co-hosts are hacks except for Joy Behar and she only came back for the pay out. Cancel it.

I respectfully disagree…about Joy. To me, she’s the worst of all!

Agreed! Joy has a filthy vulgar mouth and always has. She rarely thinks before she speaks. And she has always used The View to advance her personal platform and agenda, and anyone who disagrees with her, she gleefully throws them under the bus. For all her talk of tolerance and anti-bullying, she is the biggest bully and her playground is an international television viewing audience. She will insult everyone and everything including God! Nothing is off limits for her vile form of talk show. Having a talk show doesnt mean you can just make reckless comments about things you dont understand, but thats what she, and other panelists, have always done. I always liked when Joy’s caustic tirades were balanced out by more level headed, intelligent women like Meredith or Elisabeth. If this show has offended THAT many huge national sponsors, maybe it is time to pack it in!

Elizabeth Hassalback is a an intelligent, level headed woman? Compared to what?
A possessed chicken?

See…I think I made my point Harry! LOL….. Elisabeth is level headed and intelligent compared to Joy.

No, Joy Behar came back because of popular demand. We only see the negative perspective, but when she left, everyone was up in arms, including the producers. She had said her last farewell to THE VIEW, except to appear as a guest-host once in a blue moon. It’s not as if “they” were not familiar with her style… We all knew what we were getting….she’s no novice….and neither is Whoopi.
Just because we hear of the odd few foaming at the mouth defaming these women on the panel, it does not mean it is the popular consensus. Both of them are very well received wherever they go. This nurse was out of her league. Nursing is her profession. I do not think her monologue was anything anyone expected. I am a Physics teacher. I’m sure that if I entered such a contest, the last thing people would expect is for me to get up there and talk about prisms or the alignment of the planets. So, please give these ladies of THE VIEW a break. Let’s all say our Hail Marys and be thankful of our freedoms which are hard to come by anywhere else in the world.
I will grant the fact that, considering what was left of it, more or less, drove the show to the ground, Joy was recalled. It’s as simple as that. At her age, Joy paid her dues….she is well-set in life, needing not the pay-back.

This has been blown way out of proportion. They weren’t mocking nurses. This is becoming way too extreme.

Agreed, Enrique. WOW! They were making light conversation…..it was nothing personal. I did not think they were mocking the nursing profession. Boy, someone took the words and ran with them.
For these ladies to be called stupid is neither here nor there. I would caution those posters whose grammar is deplorable to call the kettle black.
The ladies are quite intelligent, in their own right….for people to come out of the woodwork to attack and flagellate is ridiculous. Were you all waiting to jump on the band wagon? Any band wagon? Don’t you or the advertisers think there are more pressing matters in this world to worry about, other than what two comediennes, by profession, say as a joke? A JOKE, people! When have we, as Americans, become so snobbish and cruel? “

I think the big picture is not necessarily what the View women said BUT people coming to the nurses defense because it is a typically thankless job where nurses are underpaid and discharged as servants. I’ve seen in hospitals where patients run these nurses like they are their maids at a five star hotel. Thats what I think it is.

Yes, Timmm, there’s much truth in what you say. The majority of nurses are authentically caring professionals. But, I have also seen the opposite, where nurses are in a position of authority…..abusing said authority to the hilt with a select few patients. We have all heard horrid stories.
This has been blown so out of proportion. Maybe a device should be invented for all of us to wear. That is, the device would beep crazily each time we made a faux pas. Sounds ridiculous? Of course. We live in a democracy where what we say is protected by certain rights. But, everyone seems to get on that proverbial pulpit and CAST stones.

I agree..
It is simply an opportunity for the internet radical kooks to tweet their crazy stuff, then the news picks up on it and exploits it for entertainment news ..
The days of ”actual” news is long gone, news CNN and other are more-so entertaining, they no longer report the news it is used as entertainment, crazy LOL

I do not care for the women of the Talk nor the Talk, but what was said is an ant hill made into a mountain..
nobody can make comments any longer for fear of twitter zealots of crazy yelling not political correct LOL ..
USA is becoming dangerous with the extreme political correctness junk, it’s gone too crazy.

I think The View should be canceled but certainly not because of this incident which quite frankly, is much ado about nothing.
When have we as a society become so thin skinned and humorless? When did we have to have the obvious explained to us?
Joy simply wondered why she was seeing a stethoscope around the contestants neck during the talent portion. One is accustomed to seeing beauty contestants trotting in wearing tap shoes or holding an accordion or twirling a baton. It was a simple and harmless question. Perhaps if there was a snark it was directed toward the antiquated Miss America Pageant which still features a bathing suit competition. Everyone loves and respects nurses–they are not a maligned minority.

Those two washed up so called entertainers should be charged with defamation of character for their rude and stupid behavior I have never watched the View cause of my intense dislike for Whoopie and Joy two big mouths with no brains I say cancel the View all to gether cause this show is not good

Well, Dee….I find your comment rather harsh. I hope this quote rings a bell….
“One should examine oneself for a very long time before thinking of condemning others.”
Moliere— philosophe francais.

Beautifully put, Cee Cee.

With all due respect, Cee Cee, we have had an awful lot of time to make a decision on Joy’s nasty behaviour. As the viewing audience, we had front row seats to it every morning. Your choice of “condemned” is a little extreme, though. In life, there are consequences to our actions. Too often, celebrities just get a Hall Pass on the consequence part and just go on acting like buffoons!! Maybe, even at her age, this will teach Joy something about her blunt rudeness. Nursing is an honourable profession, and they work much harder than talk show hosts for a fraction of the pay. They are saving lives…not mocking them on national television.

@Dylan.
With all due respect to you, Dylan. I am not condoning Joy’s or Michelle’s behavior. Personally, I think Michelle needs to tamp her mouth. And, believe you me, I have made my sentiments known to TPTB; that is, how stupid it was to fire Nicolle Wallace. I won’t even touch Raven. I will stop because then I will fall into the same categorical pit as the people I am taking to task, or perhaps so you think. LOL.
My point is that I do not think that Joy’s remark, as offensive as it seems, did not call for so much criticism. I know Joy, she is not like that. Those who have viewed THE VIEW (lol) for a period of time would appreciate her sardonic, sarcastic remarks, as Harry’s or Timmm’s. They’re funny, unfortunately it was not done in good taste, albeit that was not the intent. I think people are always too quick to pass judgement. Joy and Michelle, I am sure, both feel mortified…they have apologized and wish they could take their words back. There was no malice involved, but people are turning said words into such an-end-of-the-world catastrophe.
We all say stupid things; none of us is perfect. That is the only reason I quoted Moliere. I think Harry, as an avid reader of philosophy and philosophical comedy, gets me. You may have read/studied “Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme”…you know what a hodge-podge, mish-mash idiotic play it is…all about human flaws, regardless what social status. I read the original French version. Obviously the reader will have a completely different take from it. Anything one reads always loses something, if not the idea, in translation.
Thank you, Dylan. I do ken what you are saying, trust me…..my thought process was just not aligned with yours that’s all. Later.

Great quote! Nobody should be fired. The View is close to being canceled anyway! What I would do is have one of the women on the View tag along with a nurse on a shift and show it on the show. It would educate the panel and VIEWers and hopefully everyone hugs it out and there are no hard feelings!

@Timmm.
Good idea, Timmm. I could convince my husband to tag along with the nurse and one of the women of THE VIEW when he does his rounds.

Dee & others…”In the beginning,” maybe even a little before some commenters “viewed” The View, I watched because of Barbara Walters. Talk about a resume of interviewing some of the most important and influential people from show biz to politics, etc. during her career. Then she had a vision of an intelligent, entertaining woman’s talk show with panelists and guests representing many points of view, some of whom I didn’t like…but there was a balance to it. It became The View.

But there was no competition for ratings like there is now…and now, no more of the Barbara influence. I think The View has lost the vision of it’s original intent.

Also there was not the kind of “gotcha humor” that Joy represents, and both she and Whoopi have defended over the years. It’s definitely not for me…it’s just another way of put-downs on national tv, or dark comedy clubs, that I’ve called payback “humor,” and not funny to me at all.

As far as this Miss America “controversy,” this type of completion is fodder for these kind of “comedians” whether it’s on The View or elsewhere. Where I do feel bad is here was a young woman, who earnestly did a monologue on her nursing experience, in good faith, on a national show, didn’t twirl a baton, and she got these snide remarks from other women.

Hi, Rose.
Just as you say, no matter the talent, no matter the mode of dress, no matter the verbiage, once in the public eye, a body becomes fodder upon which one feeds. Joy just beat these other comedians, and then some, to the punch. This was a talent show; not an expose on nursing. We know what a sacrifice it is for these dedicated professionals, including all medical professionals. I am married to one. Long hours; long nights…..
No, the competition, back in the day, was mostly non-existent….but, how can one blame the panelists? Joy was asked back because there was a demand for her kind of edgy humor. Try to restore what once was….but, to no avail, it seems. She is doing her job. She is not a hag, nor a washed-up moron, as she has been called. I say, what makes us any better than what some intimate about Joy et al? Are we any better? Gimme a break; so easy to be righteous…( not you, Rose, never you).
Oh, please! My mother-in-law still bemoans the stupid words uttered on public television by a member of THE TALK demeaning ALL Italian men; thus belittling an entire culture. My mother-in-law went as far as calling the network in California. She was so affronted, rightly so, by this nonentity, non-savant, who proclaims to be one. Any intelligent, well-educated being who knows his/her history cannot deny the contributions the Romans; ergo, Italians have sowed throughout the world and beyond….from seedlings of innovative technology to Astrological strategy and mathematical formulas. Good grief….there is a city in England named BATH. Why? Because of the spectacular aqueducts and indoor baths/spas invented, and introduced by the Romans.
There was no berating, no word of apology; nothing. As my grandfather- father-in-law is wont to say….”before the Romans conquered and civilized them for 400 years, the Brits lived in trees”. No one came forward to recant her stupid, insensitive words.
Enough is enough, I say. Let’s move on to a better place.
No one is forcing anyone to watch. If THE VIEW is to become defunct, let its end come when it comes. And, at such time; there is something to be said about surviving this long.
Gosh…let’s be done!!!!!

I saw that portion of the pageant and thought it was a strange talent. But whatever. I definitely feel these advertisers are over reacting a bit. They choose not to advertise, so as a consumer, I can choose not to buy their products. Also , both Joy and Michelle apologized. We all respect nurses and the amazing job they do, so let’s just move on.

Maureen, I think that is where Joy was coming from. It also seems to me that nursing is a profession and the nurse was exhibiting a skill, not a talent.
To me, there is difference.
And I do agree, let it go.

Agreed. It’s a touching story but that’s not a talent. Let’s move on already.

oh come on.. this is so crazy.. I saw the episode and it as funny.. I know many nurses .. Both Joy and the other girl on the view apologized.. get a life advertisers… I will not buy your products just because you have over reacted.. very disgusted by this over reaction!!!

this is political correctness gone amok, goodness grieve everybody is so easily offended now, its so ridiculous. we are all hypocrites, because we all judge, criticize, and make fun of each other, then we cry about it and complain and threaten till we get our way. One simple joke has now turned into this, really? wow, really, wow! so much for a democracy.

Actions have consequences. The View is no longer must see TV. It hasn’t been for some time. Bring in a game show or, better yet, a soap.

I remember when Loving used to be the lunch soap for ABC ….. How perfect was that soap!! Bring it back ! (Hey if people can keep on wishing for Oltl or AMC , i can wish for Loving )

Quite watching The View years ago. For me it totally lost it’s way as an interesting, relevant show. But I did watch clips of both the contestant and View comments on her performance to see what the fuss was about. Just reinforces why I quit watching. Or any so called “comedy” that puts other people down. Sometimes I wonder if it’s just payback for grievances suffered as a kid. Also sad many find this kind of “humor” funny.

Exactly. The few times I’ve had to watch the show it’s been catty beyond belief. A bunch of bickering divas – gives me a headache listening to their inane dribble.

They were being “Bully’s”. I as a professional RN will never watch the trashy show again but I had stopped watching years ago. People are entitled to there opinion however they should be informed before they speak to a subject in which they’re ignorant to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem, Joy simply asked why a beauty contestant was wearing a stethoscope for the talent competition.
Some of the nurses (albeit not all) collective outrage is doing more to harm their profession than Joy’s innocent query. Those who can not stop shrilling about it appear to be thin skinned, humor challenged and insecure.

(applause for Harry .. 🙂

Bravo Harry! People are losing their minds!

You said it Toscanti, a majority of the public agrees with you. The sponsors definitely agree since they are dropping like flies.

WOW!

I did watch the Miss America pageant live. I saw the monologue by Kelly Johnson. It was unique. The content of the monologue was quite moving. But I didn’t know Kelly was a nurse herself. I thought Kelly was an actress delivering a monologue. Glad to know that now because although I liked the content of the monologue, I was judging her performance thinking actress and found her wanting. When she was eliminated from the competition I wasn’t surprised because I thought as an actress she wasn’t very good. Now that I know the real story behind her monologue, the only thing I say is it would have helped if she had been coached on her performance by a real actress. Kelly had the passion down pat and understandably so. But there was something missing that a real actress probably could have identified and helped Kelly to include to make her overall performance much better.

I didn’t watch The View on the day in question, so I don’t know what happened in terms of the context of what was said. So I don’t know if Joy Behar and Ms. Collins noticed what I did or if they were just poking fun for laughs. But like I said, the content of the monologue was good, unique and moving.

Since the two women on The View did apologize and did what they could to make amends, maybe they should be given a second chance.

What is so ironic to me regarding a matter is some feel nurses are underappreciated. Maybe so. But in this case a real actress could have made a huge difference. So everybody is important in their respective professions at different times!

Ridiculous on all counts…a monologue as a talent?????….not giving panelist on THe View a chance to openly air their non-offensive view….and the continuation of the show…all ridiculous.

I think it’s funny that a few people say they’re not going to buy products from the advertisers dumping the show. I’m sure outfits like J & J will miss those 5 customers. Let’s be honest, the show is run by a bunch of moronic big mouths with small brains.

Robby, its the same five people who say they will NEVER watch a particular soap again only to continue to post on this website!

It’s way past time to cancel The View. Whoopi is the worst, moody as hell and a horrible moderator. Joy, Michelle and Raven really suck also. This ship has sailed.

I like Joy–I liked Nicole Wallace but The View stupidly let her go.
Honestly, I was more upset about Whoopi’s “it’s not rape-rape” comment as well as her defense of Bill Cosby in the face of fifty rape allegations. I did not see this kind of collective and hysterical outrage garnered against Whoopi for those comments/defense as I am seeing being waged against Joy for her innocent query about the stethoscope.
But I do agree with you–it’s time to cancel The View but not because of this latest brau ha ha.

Right on, Harry!! I always loved Whoopi. But that comment…not really rape, rape, just turned all my lights off.

Yeah Whoopi is the worst. She’s always defending her Hollyweird pals like Bill Cosby and director Roman P. that had sex with the underaged girl. But I’m sure Whoopi went off about Jared at Subway since he’s not a friend.

Harry…After reading one of your comments, one of the reasons I quit watching the view was Elizabeth. I don’t mind different points of view and spirited debates, but I don’t need an evangelist shill for a political party. Also Sherri drove me nuts. This is when I did like a Joy because she took her on. But I don’t really like Joy’s sense of “humor” many times, or her and Whoopi’s defense of what I call anti-comedians who do standup by insulting, not being really funny.

Harry…I mean Joy took Elizabeth on, not Sherri.

Whoopi should thank her lucky stars she has been on the View this long! If it were not for luck she would be managing a head shop in southern California!

Yeah when she first started at The View she said she was grateful because she wasn’t getting much work and she was happy to have something to pay the bills.

PC has run amuck, I agree, but in this case I’ll give it a pass if it leads to the end of The View.

I thought the same thing. In this case being PC definitely works.

Kelly’s message was about what is important to her and relevant in all our lives was Bold and Brave . Performing a monologue is not easy and she did it with grace and honest emotion. It is disappointing that the women on The View missed it . Their glib shallowness was revealed.

Wendy…I think you are so right. We always applaud other “hero acts” all of the time, usually military, or even the American guys visiting in Europe who tackled the terrorist on the train, etc. It would have been nice if they actually listened to what Kelly said, and realized what she and many others try to do for loved ones and friends can also be appreciated. They could have talked in a positive way about how she broke beauty pageant cliche’ with her monologue. Instead they made a joke of her “uniform” and not doing the typical tap dance.

THIS nurse should be on the ten dollar bill! Women around the world should commend her for using her brain and not shaking her ass or showing her boobs!

Ahh, Timmm. How did you find out what I did? I tried keeping it a secret. LOL.

.. Sponsor panic
they fear the power of twitter, which can make or break anything..
The sponsors fear the news media, who no longer just report the news they use and exploit some stories for entertainment to get viewers.
The days of Walter Cronkite when news was told as news is long gone- now anything controversial is used to entertain..
And that is why the sponsor tucked tail and ran, for their protection .

If cancellation were threatened anytime a View panelist said something offensive, there would be a non-stop cloud of cancellation over the show.

That said, for me, Joy Behar is the true star and only tolerable personality in the show’s history. She is also a comedian, so let’s give her a little leeway.

James? I love you, ….how wise art thou? Last time I looked, freedom of speech was still alive. Do not put your hand in the fire if you know it will burn you. As I said, when in the public eye, there will always be the potential of getting squashed. Everyone on this site has spoken, given his/her opinion…..some very offensive; actually worse than what Joy said….which I, personally did not find offensive. Name calling? Are we in kindergarten? Recess time?

Love backatcha, CeeCee! Thanks for replying to me and giving me your kind words. I have since read all the current posts on this topic, including your stunning opinions and insights. And I have to applaud you for your wisdom, intelligence, and sensitivity! Sincerely… You are terrific!

Further, I think that, what a lot of this boils down to is politics. Joy represents the Left, the way that Elisabeth represented the Right. So, depending on which basic side one finds political allegiance, that will probably color one’s opinions of a particular panelist.

I realize that I was being obviously partial to Joy, but at the same time, I was implicitly disparaging all other View panelists. Such was not my intent. To be fair, I have enjoyed other panelists over the years, including the highly intelligent and charming Nicole Wallace, the ground-breaking, trail-blazing Barbara Walters, the sincere, jubilant Meredith Viera, and sometimes witty Whoopi. Still, Joy is my favorite, and that was my main point. Plus, much of what she says is for humorous effect. As we all know, attempts at humor are not always successful. I’ve certainly been guilty of such failed attempts, among much, much more!

Finally, CeeCee, your point about freedom of speech is massive. That’s just one reason we are all here at these message boards — because we want to express our opinions, and we have the freedom to do so. I realize that when I go negative (paging GH’s Sonny), it’s because I feel deeply about what is wrong (in my opinion) about my formerly long-time favorite soap. But it is inescapable that there are plenty of fans who enjoy that character and the actor (Benard). I don’t mean to besmirch those with a differing viewpoint. I only want to have my say, cast my vote as it were. I may be outnumbered, I may be delusional, and I may be long-winded ( 🙂 ). But I will try to respect all viewpoints, as you, my friend, CeeCee, do so very successfully all the time.

The best to you and to all our fellow “panelists” here at the Fairman site!!

@James75.
Hi James,
I wish I were as diplomatic with my words as you.
I have thoroughly enjoyed what you wrote. I hear you!!!! And, I am so glad you hear me. As Harry does. I joke around a lot, but I have been told since I was a little girl, by my Scottish grandmother, that I am too old for my age. Ergo, I thank you for the accolades.
Mr. Fairman should be awarded for giving us this platform. I do not feel any regret talking about a character such as Sonny Corinthos, and his ilk.
Regardless of what anyone may say that the character IS the actor….the subject matter demands a comment, demeaning or no. These celebrities do have a thick skin and if they don’t, then, they are in the wrong business. Once you reach that pinnacle of success, you are open for debate, as it were. One cannot complain about the backlash. He/she has put himself/herself there. I respect and admire your sensibility and sensitivity. Later, my friend.

I don’t care if someone knows, intellectually, there can be comments both yea and nay about them, their characters, performances when they put themselves out there for the public. They are still people with emotions. And if I’m to believe what I’ve read and heard in interviews, not all performers are made of the “sterner stuff”/”thick skins” where they are not affected or hurt by comments that can only make the critic with their free speech feel good. Except for maybe Donald Trump.

And since we seem to be a people who are against bullying kids online, especially kids to kids, and anonymous, how are some forms of adult “ridicule” and “opinion” any different?

I’m not perfect ( especially when it came to Fluke), but I would rather be positive, or just say nothing at all.

As Spiderman’s uncle might say…”With great power (in this case, freedom of speech) comes great responsibility.” Remember there are people with feelings and opinions on the receiving end of certain comments and “humor.” So the other side of free speech, don’t be surprised on how some people “hear” it.

Luckily for us there’s a lot of fairness and respect on MF’s site, no matter which side of an issue/story/etc you might be on, compared to some other forums out there.

Right on, Rose. Exactly my point. What was said was not world-ending. The sky did not fall. There are extremists who translate what they hear in a completely different way. I am not talking about making jokes at the expense of another. As someone already said, no one was making fun of the profession, but of the chosen subject. I repeat, Rose….when someone puts herself/himself on a certain platform, she/he will be subject to both praise and ridicule. They know that. So, to blindly climb this mountain without a strong backbone is a fallacy. And, frankly, being older ( which some people seem to think) does not make a body either smarter or wiser. No recalcitrant child here. Thank you for your quote and input., much appreciated.

Well, Rose. I admire your positivity. But this is not a la-di-da world. There is bullying and then there’s bullying. We are not talking about children. Apples and oranges. Any form of bullying a child is despicable. That, comes from the home. Some people have a chip on their shoulder and have a need to needle and jump on someone’s every word. Those are people with issues. I now find this very droll and inconsequential. But, to compare such an act of cruelty to a comment made on THE VIEW is ridiculous. Why are we on this site? To debate…to share opinions. I gave mine, you gave yours. All is good. I will not go into this with you, Rose. It feels like déjà-vu. Your persistence sounds so familiar. I cede you the floor. …..hopefully, this does not become the never-ending story.

Much ado about nothing all the way around – when did we get to be a nation of crybabies where COMEDIANS can’t make fun of someone? Geez, lighten up, people. (You can argue how funny someone is or isn’t, but calling them “hags” isn’t really a necessary part of the conversation – and by the way, why can’t Joy say something harmless like ‘why does she have a stethsoscope” but you are “she’s this and she’s that” about Joy and the others. Geez, check yourself in the mirror, people).

Please don’t cancel the View! I love it now that Joy Behar is back. I love Whoopi too, even though I don’t agree with her 100% of the time, but do agree with her the majority of the time.

I love you too, Abruzzfan. As Andrew said…Much Ado About Nothing…..any quote/title from Willie is always welcomed by me…LOL.

Funny thing is this controversy has actually gotten them some publicity. Good or bad, agree or disagree, people are talking about the VIEW!

Thanks Timmm!

Its about time someone steps up and makes the RIGHT decision and ignores the possible financial effects! Nurses are SO freakin important to this world! They dont make enough money, dont get enough respect and work terrible hours! Next time you bump into a nurse, thank him or her for their tireless efforts in keeping America healthy!

Good. Take the damn thing off the air. Why would the opinions of a bunch of people sitting round gossiping be taken as important or valid? At least Barbara Walters was a journalist and actually had interviewed and met many of the worlds political and social leaders. These other women? Who cares what they think about anything?

Good try bringing all the nurses on your show. Shame it didn’t work! What is so wonderful about these women. Joy had two shows that failed. Yes, she went to college, so did the nurses! A lot of people went to college, but they do not insult someone who works as hard as a nurse. I have five nurses in my family and they picked on the wrong person, as I personally take it as an insult. Don’t mess with my kids! By the way, I am very very proud of all of them!

Cancel the show!! It’s a mess.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
