The Young and the Restless is going modern in their design concepts these days!  After first revealing Avery’s (Jessica Collins) new digs, Y&R set designer, Bill Hultstrom takes EW.com on an exclusive tour and look at Victor Newman’s brand new penthouse!

During the video sneak peek Y&R’s Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) and Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki) cast their eyes on their new cosmopolitan “home” over looking the city that Victor Newman built, as Hultstrom explains in the exclusive clip! Fans of the number one sudser will see the new penthouse set for the first time on Wednesday’s episode!

So after checking out the video and the designs, do you like the changes implemented thus far by executive producer, Jill Farren Phelps to freshen up the look of Genoa City thus far?

Do you think you will still miss the Newman Ranch? Or, are you all in for the change of scenery for the Newman clan?  Let us know!

I like it.

Absolutely love the new set for Victor and Nikki. Nice job set designers (I smell some Set Design Emmy’s coming Y&R’s way next spring)!

Loving the fresh take on sets on Y&R; long overdue in my opinion! Kudos to the producers and set designers! Definite breath of fresh air!

the show needed new modern places

Like the change .. it’s about time Y&R moved into the 21st century ..

Victor will look right at home in the penthouse looking down on Genoa City! Great job.

It’s lipstick on a pig – or in Victor’s case, Formaldehyde in a corpse.

MAB had done terrible damage to Y&R. And so far, all I see is JFP continueing the decline. With Phyllis still front and center in Jack’s storyline, and Victor still doing the same thing AND being front and center, I’ve stopped watching.
And this time, maybe for good.

With all the talent out there, why did TIIC insist on inflicting another failed producer like JFP on the show? I’m starting to believe they want Y&R to fail much like the intended destruction of AMC.

Yeah but who designed Adam’s guest house that Sharon has been living in?

It looks like the unibomber would live therer!

Love it. A breath of fresh air. Very bright and modern. I f the storylines can get better, this can be the best soap. A long overdue change. I won’t miss the ranch at all.

Beautiful! Love it Love it Love it!

Thank you for sharing this, Michael.

I think their new penthouse is gorgeous and befitting of Victor and Nikki Newman. I miss the ranch, but I can’t wait to see what they do with it [the ranch] when they are ready for someone else to move into the penthouse – and you know they will not want to abandon that gorgeous set.

I also like that Victor and Nikki are still showcased and not on only once a week or on occasion as most of us had feared for the veterans.

Improving the sets, I think Jill and company get a B+. I am glad they got rid of those hideous FAKE geraniums at Adam’s place. However, I’m still not convinced about the storylines yet.

I think the storylines are in transition, it hasn’t been that long, and a good story line needs time to set up and put into play. I believe right now the show is doing filler because they have to put something on the air- whatever MAB plotted out a year ago was tossed out and a new game plan has to be put together. For some fans it is not changing quick enough, I like this pace, and I’m not complaining– yet- check me out in a year time- because I think it going take that long before we are really going to notice anything. Right now, changes to the sets, some new music, different camera shots are being done to give it updated look and the rest only time will tell.

I am okay with the pace. I just do not like what they are doing to Kevin and I am pretty sure wherever they are going with Kyle and Phyllis it is going to be a big mess.

They haven’t made me really mad yet except at the firing of Marcy Rylan. They really could have used that cute and talented girl. I think they were wrong there.

I agree that I like that Victor and Nikki are being show cased and together. It is so nice to see them working together to take care of their family like normal people do …

Definitely good for the show to update and making changes .

All the new sets since Jill came into the series have been beautiful. My only wish is that the ranch stayed and was simply updated, and that Katherine’s home stayed its size, and just added that extra wall. But over-all, AMAZING changes. I’m thoroughly impressed!

Ya don’t like it at all. Not his character or style. I am afraid this was a BIG fail. Sorry

Sorry but I guess I hate change, and I really don’t like the new gray sterile penthouse. It is just not cozy like the ranch house was. The only houses I like on the show are Jack’s house, although now they have the dining room door closed, which makes it a little bit depressing, and I LOVE Sharon’s home at the ranch. Please dont change that one. Stained glass and tiffany lamps, NOT the gray shiny penthouse, for me. Ill always stick with YR though. It has always been there for me 🙂

The doors to Jack’s dining are closed because they have shrunk the set. All the elements are there, but if you really looked it is all crammed together- the dining room doors were never that close to the fireplace ever. They also shrunk Katherine’s living room. I guess they needed to make room for all these new sets. And a friend of mine has suggested since a soap is more about the dialogue than the action, large sets are a waste and costly to upkeep, which might explaining the shrinking sets too. It just looks odd to me, but I will get accustom to it I suppose- and whenever they rebuilt the ranch, it will not be as big as it was either.

I agree, Melody. I really like Nick’s tack house, especially the board games on the credenza. It feels and looks like a home with children in it.

It’s too bad Billy & Victoria’s “Father Knows Best” home is not much fun. It seems to be fun when Reed or Delia comes to visit.

Speaking of Sharon’s house, is the dragonfly chair new or have I just never noticed it before? I am noticing more and more of Jill Farren Phelp’s decorating touches like real flowers or very good silk ones throughout Jabot and Newman and Adam’s house.

P.S, PLEASE give Katherine Chancellor a NEW “unblue” dining room:)

I love new sets. The Newman ranch should have been torched long ago. New sets bring energy and a new way of seeing the characters. They should utilize more 4 wall sets like GL did. Soaps are not taped before an audience, so they should be more realistic.

Love the new set! Please tell me where the gray sofas are from!

What is the paint color in their new home? It looks like a blue?

in Victor Newman’s new home I’ve noticed lately new wing chairs that are light blue w. a square pattern on them. Where can I buy the chiar or fabric?

I love Victor’s new light gray wing chair. Who makes it and is it available for the general public?

I LOVE the new set used for Victoria & Billy’s living room. Where can I find the gray sofa & love seat? Also love the teal accents used for club chair & drapes!

I love the lavender dining room chairs at Devon’s place. Where can I get some like those or similar to them?

Where did the table lamp, “the one next to the stairs” in the Newman penthouse come from?

Lisa Rinna Would Be Down to Reprise Her Role of Taylor McBride in ‘Melrose Place’ Reboot

When Lisa Rinna departed her popular role of Billie Reed on Days of our Lives back in 1995, her next major role would be a jump to primetime and the soapy Melrose Place.

In 1996, Lisa was introduced as new character Taylor McBride and stayed with the Fox young adult sudser for three seasons. Now in 2024, with the recent reveal that a Melrose Place revival is the works with Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga and Laura Leighton all on board to reprise their signature roles, would Rinna board the project should it come to fruition?

Speaking with PEOPLE, Rinna expressed, “Well, gosh, I’ve heard about it. I haven’t been approached or anything, but I would love to see what Taylor McBride is up to 25 years later. Wouldn’t that be something?”

Photo: FOX

OG Melrose Place fans know that in story, Taylor moved to the Melrose Place apartment building with her husband Kyle played by Rob Estes. However, Taylor had her eye on Dr. Peter Burns played by former GH star Jack Wagner (ex-Frisco). But, by the time she had moved to the apartment complex, Peter had married tough as nails ad executive, Amanda Woodward, played by Heather Locklear.

Recalling her time on Melrose Place, Rinna added that it, “was one of my greatest and most fun acting experiences, playing Taylor and working with Heather and the whole crew.”  Rinna also noted, “So if they need a Taylor McBride appearance, they know who to call. I’m around.”

The new Melrose Place is in development at CBS Studios. In the premise of the reboot, the Melrose Place residents reunite after the death of one of their friends, “but the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”

So, would you want to see Lisa Rinna reprise her Melrose Place role as Taylor McBride? Comment below.

Sean Kanan’s Stepdaughter, Juliet Vega, to Appear on The Bold and the Beautiful

Coming up on this Friday’s April 26th episode of The Bold and the Beautiful, Juliet Vega, the stepdaughter to Sean Kanan will make an appearance on the CBS daytime drama series in the role of Michele.

Keeping it “All in the Family”, the character is named after Juliet’s real-life mother, and Kanan’s wife, writer and producer, Michele Kanan.

Back in 2012, Sean married Michele Vega and thus began their blended family which included his daughter, Simone, and Michelle’s children, Peter, Gigi, and her twins, Annie and Juliet.

Photo: JPI

According to a B&B show spokesperson, Juliet’s B&B character is intentionally named Michele in honor of her mother and Sean’s wife.

While we don’t know how “Michele” shows up in story, it is the same episode that Clint Howard makes an appearance as well seemingly tied to the case of where in the world is Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown)?

Photo: CBS

We can’t imagine that Juliet wouldn’t get the opportunity to mix it up on-screen with her stepdad, Sean Kanan. Previously, the two acted together in Sean’s streaming series Studio City, where she played the role of Delilah and he played soap actor, Sam Stevens. In it, Delilah is the bio-daughter Sam never knew he had.

So, looking forward to seeing Juliet on B&B and how ‘Michele’ turns up in the story? Comment below.
