One Life to Live should win this category unfortunatly, the best soap wasn’t even nominated 🙁

You’re right about that.

OLTL screwed again!

I agree with you 100%…………………..

yes! that omission makes me ill. And it’s not like they left both cancelled series off the list… just One Life to Live. Why? I can’t predict GH, love it now more than the last several years, but no, not as a winner for last year, that’s for sure! I’m sure All My Children, like One Life to Live, gave greater performances when they found out they were going to cancelled – to give their all to the very end.

It would be nice if there was a very special tribute to both soaps and their decades of “service” to US! Those casts & crews deserve so much more than a pink slip!

Christy, I watch hln every night, Nancy grace and Jane and for the 2 hours I watch they are advertizing about the soaps being on they do it a lot and they say there will be something special done for One life to live and all my children , Their doing a lot of advertizing so that’s good. We are going to see a special tribute to our beloved soaps. And I agree that one life to live should be in the best drama and best writing series, makes no sense they were left out. In my heart they won in every category.

I think everyone knows that…..and any show that goes up and accepts the award should have a sense of a hollow victory, since the best show was not nominated. Not only did they rob OLTL of the Outstanding Drama Series nom, but also for the Writing…..and in my opinion too many actors were overlooked too. This Emmy nomination list is a big joke, but aren’t they usually? OLTL is overlooked year after year….but I think this time the sting is even bigger, because it was the last chance for OLTL to get the props that is so rightfully deserves.

I didn’t read above that One Life to Live was in the running for Outstanding Drama Series. So, my vote is for All My Children, which ended wonderfully creative. General Hospital is outstanding these days, but it was been along time coming, and didn’t start really getting good until the end of March. I’m going for All My Children if OneLife isn’t in the running.

IT WOULD BE NICE TO SEE SUSAN LUCCI, TAKE HOME HER FINAL ‘Outstanding Lead Actress” for the role. But I don’t even think she was nominated. Oh well, wishful thinking, and nothing wrong with dreaming. I would just love to see All My Children end with that memory of Susan in the final presentation of that catorgory.

Go Genie Francis/ Laura Wright for lead.

Go all the way Erika Slezak for lead actress !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My loyality goes with OLTL !!!!!!!!! My favorite soap of all time.. It rates #1 in my book……….And anyone else that is nominated for OLTL………………………………………………………………

I hope Erika Slezak wins to, that will be so nice to see her win her 7th for our One life to live.

Erika Slezak is a great person & actress! She’s a team player who never takes all the credit like Susan Lucci always did on AMC!

I agree with you…comment on 5/13 at 9:04am……Susan Lucci is a bit full of herself…Erika is very humble & modest…..She didn’t try to over shadow the other actors on OLTL…..She is very special(E. Slezak)……….Great all around person….Down to earth…That’s my impression of her…….Oh & caring….

To TPTB, Dr. David Haywood PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz !!!!

Is he nominated??????? I don’t remember seeing his name…He played a different charcter in this movie I saw it is called Lying Eyes…..He plays a married lawyer who likes to pick up high school senior cheerleaders………….He’s a peace of work in this movie…I think it’a LMN movie.. I bought it years ago…Not bad…….

Wow, I never saw that, I should look that up, I would love to see him in a movie even if it’s creepy. I don’t think 1loveabcsoaps is calling for Dr’ David Hayward to win, 1loveabcsoaps wants our Doctor to show up in POrt charles, I agree would love for him to be a doctor at general hospital. Yeah, I think he is that good and he was along with Adam/Stuart my favorite on all my children. In my eyes he could do no wrong he was misunderstood.

I can’t pick just one, before I go on I will say that One life to live would have been my first choice but those idiots who vote for best drama don’t know a good soap when they see it, One life to live, If I was in charge of the emmys you most definitely would be the winner, best actress erika Slezak you win for playing my beloved Vicke for 40 years, you are a great if not the greatest actress. I want All my children or General hospital to win, All my children left us with a bang, but I really wasn’t that impressed with the ending I felt ripped off and the stories have not been that good, because this is all my children’s last stand I want them to win, BUT, there is General hospital the past few months for me have been good and I like most of the stories including the ones I am complaining about the jury is still out for the reality show, I am not sure those new stories even count for this years emmy, There were several good moments in port charles not about the mob, Jakes death, luke being the one who was driving the car that hit jake, there are a few more, so I guess if either soap wins I will be a happy soap opera fan. I hope the abc soaps take in all the awards.

Anyone but GH!
Would love for Y&R to win but don’t like their submission, the christmas vintage should give them points but I’m gonna go with AMC since they are off the air!

Young and the Restless by far. The soap consistenly on top of all the others.

Your wrong this time .

As a Days fan I would like to see them win all 15 that they were nominated for, but if history is any indication, they’ll be denied :-(. I just hope that Chandler Massey wins for Younger Actor.

LOL. That’s too good to be true…. DAYS is red carpetting with their first ever 15 emmy nods! Woo Hoo! only, another tried and true forever fan of days. thru the good and the bad. the thing is… i can actually see them deserving to win this year.
OK… “all my children”… in paying homage to a dearly departed classic. General Hospital…as of late… is back on fire. Y&R? I don’t think so. So… that leaves DAYS. OK… like the rest of the soaps… has it’s patchy bad spots. so, based on what soaps are left. 4. i’ll get flack for this.. but… days has been, IMO, the most consistent. and this is spotty… at best… i’m clearly, with you… if Chandler Massey WINS… and he should… I’ll watch happily.

If “Y & R” wins ANY major award, GOD HELP US ALL!!

The show is a complete and utter MESS!! The last thing Maria Arena Bell needs to fill that giant right-wing ego of hers is a frickin’ EMMY AWARD!!

I loved All MY Children, was very sad when it went off the air, and was a loyal fan for over 35 years, but to be honest, in recent years, the storylines were just not what they used to be, so as much as I would love to see them win, for sentimental reasons, in my opinion, it is not technically deserved. One Life to Live on the other hand, had some of their best storylines in the year prior to cancellation, and I did not fast forward through ANY scenes, but sadly and WRONGLY, they were not even nominated. That being said, my vote goes to General Hospital, while some of their recent storylines were not very popular (i.e. Jake’s death), and sadly lost them many fans (who are now coming back – thank goodness), they were very well written and superbly acted, so my vote is definitely for General Hospital.

I have to share some sentiments… Tribute and Salute to AMC… Mona Kane Tyler… (Frances Heflin). Erica’s Mother… These two sparkled on screen.

Mona, it would seem… spent most of her time… bringing her daughter back down to earth. beloved… Erica loved and needed her mother… for so many reasons. it was such a treat to see 3 generations of Kane women… in the beginning… Mona/Erica/Bianca…. course… Kendall came on the show later. Then we had Erica/Biance & Kendall/and their kids.

Gosh! what a time when Mona was on….

kudos… to Palmer/Langly/Myrtle/Phoebe…

I have to mention one more family…. that i just loved…. Ellen Dalton… when she was married to Ross Chandler… and their daughter Julie Chandler…
ie: she was also involved with, for a time… Erica’s brother Mark. Geez! these people could act!

course, we could all go on and on.

Beautifully said, I do miss All my children and all of our beloved characters.

Erika Slezak (best actress )…………..Robert Woods……All catagories for OLTL to WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OLTL got ripped-off on best daytime drama……And in other catagories also….Who decides who is in or out ??????? getting nominated …….I mean………..They have lousy taste excluding OLTL ot of outstanding drama !!!!!!!!

I am with you on this award show, Let One life to live win every emmy. They do have lousy taste in outstanding drama and don’t forget they aren’t on the best writing either, SAD.

My heart belongs to OLTL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That’s where my heart is to.

MICHAEL – if One Life to Live had been in the running, would you still have picked GH to win?

Of all the interviews I have read that Michael has done, Imo, I would say that he would have picked One life to live. I could be wrong but I don’t think so.

I just hope Rebecca Herbst takes it home for Supporting Actress that is the only one I truly care about, OLTL would have had it in the bag but I am told they put the reel in for FRow but I do not know for sure.

Unfortuntately, the best soap wasn’t nominated so I don’t have a horse in this race. Since there are so few soaps I think putting them all up for contention for the award would have been an appropriate and an even kind gesture. It’s sad what has happened to our beloved genre.

Days of Our Lives should win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OLTL FOREVER!!! Take GH off the air and put OLTL back on!!!!

AGREED. OLTL was so superior. How can we even comment on the nominations–as unfair as the cancellations? Go Erika and Robert.

Y&R all the way; it’s the best soap on the air, hands down.

AMC best drama, Debbie Morgan Best Actress!

Debbie Morgan…. Thank you MF… for the excellent interview. Formidable, tough as Nails… stood up for herself. No holds barred… acted your heart out. From the start… you hit home runs… your last year… it was gut-wrenching stuff to watch. I sobbed, when Jessie told you your baby died. You brought Dr. David Hayward, a humanity, we, as fans, ached for…. you and David, were top notch…at your game…

Superlative, best describes your abilities. You deserve to win best actress, this year. i hope yo do. Thank you Erika Slezak… nominated, should be enough… as you’ve won many. This is, Debbie Morgan’s time… her body of work… electrified, and kept AMC in our memories.

it’s amazing to reflect.. as fans… i’ve already stated, i readily admit to watching soaps, for 30 plus years… how much these actors mean, to us… we’ve all grown up together. once, you’ve made your mark on soaps… you’re beloved. Thank you Ms. Morgan.

this is a re-post… as the emmys draw near… i’m celebrating… their body of work… course, i prefer Crystal Chappelle… for DAYS… why they let her go… is staggering.
i’m torn between these two consummate actors.

Days of our Lives! Toast to the Hour glass! Thank you Alice Horton…. Days “time” square… resonates with your presence, and your husband Tom.

OLTL would have been my choice, but, as others have said, it was wrongfully excluded from the category. However, I do think that GH will win for their much-acclaimed intervention episode. The previous regime knew how to do one or two outstanding segments a year (unfortunately, the rest was usually monotonous drivel).

Any show but Young and Restless. MAB and her hatchett team have total destroyed this once great show. She needs to be FIRED!!!!!!!!!

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
