She’s so funny, I’m so glad she’s back. now for the return of Tad.

Ms Cady “HU-LU, who knew” McClain! Absolutely hilarious. I love her! 🙂

I can’t believe that there are people whom do not know how to use the internet in 2013..
4yr olds can do it and do it, so can anyone..
The ones that don’t how to even get to HuLu yet how use it, should have ask their children and grandchildren to teach them, it takes 5 mins to learn (or in some cases perhaps 5 months LOL ..
Really not kidding, any kid over the age of 11 knows the internet very well these days, it is mandatory part of life now ..

we had a guy today say he couldn’t get the “email machine” to workrk

workrk = work

seem to be having some issues here too! ha!

Love Dixie and All My Children but this video was an insult to homemakers. Really? She has no clue as to all the hard work homemakers do and they deserve much more credit than most people give them…

The above video has to be one of the most DISGUSTING things I have seen online in my life. I did not find it one bit humorous or entertaining. My heart was racing the whole time because it made me so mad.

“Suzy F*cking Homemaker” is an INSULT to those of us who stay at home parents/homemakers.

Cady, I USED to be a fan of yours, but I am beyond offended. The cigarette was disgusting too. Good job on insulting people who stay at home AND Jews.

Have a nice life.

Meryl Streep has been doing this for years.

Only difference is instead of being slammed by anonymous internet posters, she has been receiving Academy Awards.

Double standards for Hollywood elite and soap opera actors.

There is a major difference here…Cady is making a mockery out of those homemakers these shows continue to depend on while movies Streeps in does not!

What are you talking about with regard to Meryl Streep? Roles she plays or does she have a blog/YouTube account, what-have-you wherein she is pretending to be a so-called “housewife?”

Seriously, I would like to know.

If you are talking about paid acting jobs or a skit on television, that is completely different from what Ms. Self-Important Cady McClain is doing here. At least Meryl Streep is a wife and mother, two things Cady McClain is not.

I find it pretty gross that you’re implying that Cady is somehow deficient or less of a person because she’s not a wife or mother. Like the skit or not, but that’s not cool.

I agree with you. Joke or not its not funny at all. Im a homemaker and stay at home mom. Im not perfect and have swore but not used that word or would include it in my homemaker title. PP claim the cursing was not going to be overused but this nonsense makes it looke like just the opposite. I couldve ignored it during an arguement scene on the show and if not used often but this takes too far after they said they wouldnt. My friend lost his nephew to cancer from smoking and doesnt find the smoking funny. I was all excited by the reboots but now im not sure ill remain a fan…ill give it a chance first…my mother was looking forward to these shows but now she doesnt care to watch…she wanted to escape the real world and its disgusting turn downhill but now it appears our soaps will be going downhill and no longer the escapsim it used to and meant to be. Im 29, and dont feel this is the right kind of changes our serials need. Now watch…ill be called names just because i have morals, and old fashion values!

I won’t call you a hater, but you TOTALLY missed the point of what Cady was doing. This wasn’t PP’s doing, Cady has used Suzy as her internet alter-ego for years now in several vignettes (look them up) All she was trying to demonstrate was how easy it would be for the older (or the less internet-savvy) to watch AMC. She has taken it upon herself to attempt to educate people, even before this, on how easy watching AMC will be-and THIS is the thanks she gets? Quit looking for things to complain about, and be grateful that she gives a damn. The lack of intelligence on here sometimes never ceases to amaze me

Ha! Ha! That’s a good one. Be grateful that Cady gives a damn. Ms. Cady only wants to get her face on screens. She doesn’t care about us “housewives.” In fact, she does not have kids or a husband, so maybe she should find an aging 40-something with no husband or children to poke fun of.

Moreover, Cady and the rest of those seem to think that watching online or over your phone is just a matter of learning how to do this or do that. She completely misses the point that, believe it or not, there are STILL people in this country who do not have fast enough internet speed to get this. I’m tired of hearing how certain people need to get with the times. It is not always as easy as that. Comments like these make me think I am dealing with a bunch of teens and 20-somethings that have not even begun to live, yet you seem to know everything and the rest of us are just old relics. Pitiful.

That’s right, Kim. Meryl is PAID to portray women of various professions and backgrounds whereas Cady wants nothing more than to get HER face in ours. It smacks of pathetic and someone needing constant attention.

Comparing Meryl Streep to Cady McClain is like comparing pears with hand grenades.

LUCY, KNOCK IT OFF! GROW UP! OMG you are a stay at home mom?? So what? I am too and I thought it was funny!!
Cady loves her show so much that she went on line to teach the Older set of fans how to see the shows they have loved for DECADES. For anyone to be offended is ridiculous! YOU should be thanking her and not bash this very talented actress for trying to make sure the shows are a hit and stay on for another 40+ years and that can only be done by the FANS that WATCH!!!

BTW Lucy, I bet you found it funny and not offensive when Lucille Ball played the same type character on an episode on I love Lucy! Or was Lucy OFFENDING housewives back then???

Very cute infomercial but I wish she would have left the cigarette out.

I object to that word whether it has a * not.I would have shared this with my friends, but most don’t use that word either and I am not sharing with hat word. It’s also an insulting and condescending.

I also find the smoking gross.

triple that, I hate cigarettes but it’s just a mock so I’ll deal with it.

Please people get a life!!! It’s supposed to be a joke. I can’t stand all these “Politically Correct” people these days. Loosen up and enjoy life for a change and learn how to spot a joke for ****s sake:) Also, we are adults on here and should realize that people do smoke and if you don’t like it you don’t have to smoke.

I do have a life! A great one actually but seriously insulting people is never something to joke about.

You took the words right out of my mouth.

Yeah people smoke…and my nephew was one of them and died of cancer from it. Seven months later my aunt died from cancer caused by second hand smoke. Both died from the same cancer! This smoking shouldnt be shown as a joke or something cool! So I have reason not to find it funny!

So every movie or television show that shows a character smoking is a personal affront to you? And if anything, this video didn’t make smoking look sexy or cool.

Just…I don’t even know what to say.

Very well put Jeff

Jeff,

I can take a joke when the subject is funny. This is an insult and an embarrassment to Cady’s acting ability.

However, now that this comes to light and then the article a few months ago about sex or whatever she was going on about, it is seriously making me question Ms. McClain’s character. I have lost respect for her. She gives a good example of someone who needs attention with these blogs and videos of her. I think she is the one who needs a life instead of pretending she is some pathetic stereotype of a Jewish housewife. Besides, this bit has pretty much already been done by Mike Myers on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE (minus the filthy mouth) and THE NANNY (again, minus the filthy mouth).

Another suggestion for those of you without a Smart TV like myself and who want to watch on something larger than a 3″ to 16″ screen — is to spend $99 on the new Roku3. This will bring Internet to your TV. You can then access Hulu through the Roku system…and watch on your television. Of course, by using Hulu Plus, you will bypass the commercials!
With Roku, there are several hundred options of programming as well.

This is why these new reboots are doomed to fail. No one can take a joke and people get so easily offended. These shows are going to be racier and more cutting edge – they have to be in order to compete with what’s out there AND to survive. I’m not offended by any of the swearing, nudity, or sex scenes. I actually hope they incorporate a same-sex love story. Yes, it’s not your “mother’s AMC/OLTL” anymore. Get used to it and let those that want to be entertained by it have a chance to enjoy a more “adult” drama.

No ones trying to stop your chance from watching it and enjoying your programs…you have every right to watch whatever you like but i also have the right to express what i dislike so you should take your own advice and get used to it !

The Bitch Whine & Moaners/BWM are pathetic and will complain and whine over everything, that is a given, they are downers and unpleasant.. No matter what ,nothing in the world is good nor right or the way they want it.
And worse yet, instead of simply tuning our and shutting up, they bitch and complain just because they need to run their whiny mouths LOL ..
People of that type of personalty do not belong on-line that is 100% uncensored and they should stick to the Disney movies because they will never ”’get it”’ … lol

That video was done in fun and with no malice intended to hurt anyone’s tender feelings..
It was comedy .. nothing more or less, just comedy.
For the one who ”got it” we had a good laugh..
For the ones who ”didn’t get it”, that’s sad.

No. Some of us just have class and actually know when something is funny.

The way you respond to everyone that disagrees with you and how you include your little LOLs everywhere shows immaturity. Of course you would not get why those of us who find this video and the whole “persona” offensive. If you did, you would respect the feelings of others, but instead you call us whiners. To each his own. I was raised differently, I guess.

Note …
I did not respond to anyone who disagreed with me. (as you aid)
I made a statement, not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone..

In the search engine put in; define a statement 🙂

Whats sad is that we have to lower ourselves just to be entertained…lol… How ironic you mention Disney…Mickey Mouse isnt Squeeky clean…lol…they do produce movies with obscene language and nudity…lol…and they have interest in hulu which will air these shows…lol…you yourself bitch and whine over others you complain about doing the same thing…lol…Mary Hartman was a funny parady about housewives and had some adult language on free tv back in the 70s…lol…but cadys spoof makes all housewives look like airheads as if only us dont no how to use the internet…lol…maybe had she just spoof us without making only housewives look dumb…which weve often been claim to be for watching soaps…then she could be funny…lol…smoking is a deadly habit…lol…maybe if you were a smoking housewife diagnosed with cancer and made the sole buffoon of this youd get what we r trying to say…lol…now you and i both have a right to express our opinions…lol…we both have a right to dislike or like something…lol…if we disagree on something i dont believe in calling someone bitchy or whiney or hater or complainer…lol…i express why i dislike or like something…lol…and those who reply id like them to explain why they agree or disagree without the immature name calling…lol…had these two soaps continued on the networks there would be no discussion of its content, and we’d all be happy but just because its getting a second chance some suddenly think all it takes is to be r rated to succeed…lol…does everything need to be r rated to be successful…lol…Downtown Abbey on PBS is a huge success and free to watch, and its for intelligent adults who dont need only t&a or the f bomb to be entertained which some act is the only reason to watch shows…lol…like i said before a little cursing or brief sexual situations wouldnt turn me off as long as it doesnt go to far like PP claim they wouldnt but calling this spoof Suzy ffffffen homemaker proves they just did…lol…they should offer two versions of these soaps…lol…your tacky r rated version and an edited one for us more intelligent fans who have good taste and can enjoy a well written show without the unneccesary obscene gutter language and nudity controversy just to draw attention to these shows…lol…guess they dont have enough confidence in their stories just to draw in viewers…lol…ive have seen you write some agreeable comments and some i may disagree on but i would never before now call you whiney or whatever because of it…but as long as some of you do ill lower myself like everyone else if thats the only way some believe is the only way to reply if youd like…lol…maybe i can win a guest shot on OLTL as a nun, and my friend Jim can be Preacher who come to Llanview warning residents of their foul mouths and sinful ways is the reason why God is punishing all with global warming as a sign we are going to Hell for living without any morals whatsoever! LOL…LOL…LOL!!!!!

the reason why God is punishing all with global warming

I think this says it all about Kim!

not my cup of tea…

You guys seriously need to grown up. OMG! This is insulting? You see worse things like this on MTV. It’s a joke for heavens sake. This isn’t an insult to homemakers. And the smoking, people smoke. She isn’t advertising it. The one thing I HATE about having my soaps back is that I have to deal with you complainers complaining about everything. Ugh, go Cady.

LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it. Cannot wait to see everyone again.

I like Cady and found it funny!!!! While on the subject of Hulu / Hulul Plus. I want to watch AMC and OLTL on a TV screen, and yes you can do this via playstation or xbox, but I do not want to bother my kids for that, nor do I want to buy another one, so today my son and husband set up a way for me to get Hulu Plus on the tv screen. Michael, I am not affiliated in any way with this product and only heard about it today from my son, and am thrilled, and wanted to share the news with other AMC and OLTL fans. If this is not allowed, I apologize, and you can delete this post, if I can, then great…

There is a little device called Roku (www.roku.com) that you can connect to your TV via wifi in your home, and through this you get many features, which you can see on the website I mentioned, but most importantly, you can get hulul plus through roku also. You still have to pay the $7.99 a month for hulu plus (through hulu), using roku, but you get to see it on your tv screen, which is much more convenient for me, as I am at a computer all day. There is a one time purchase fee for Roku that ranges from $49.99 to $99.99, but my husband and son picked it up for me at a local electronics store (for the same price as the website, but no shipping of course), and I am thrilled, because now all I have to do is wait for April 29, 2013 to enjoy my shows via hulu plus on my tv screen at my convenience. My husband set it up in 10 minutes, so it was easy to do. Again, I am in no way affiliated with this product, actually just heard about it today, and wanted to share the news with others, in the event this is convenient for them as well.

I too own a RoKu and it’s great – I have decided to subscribe to HULU PLUS mainly so I can watch the new ALL MY CHILDREN on a tv screen. I always enjoyed watching the show at night. Between RoKu and other devices, eventually broadcast TV will become a thing of the past – especially when people finally get tired of being bombarded with endless noisy commercials.

So funny ! Hope there is no more confusion with “how to view” !

Cady was terrific. I was a stay at home co-home maker/Dad up until my kids were in school (my wife and I were each home half the daytimes). Other than a few jerks that asked me if I was babysitting when raising my children, I was a proud home maker.
I also remember my next door neighbor who had vodka in her coffee and was tipsy by lunch when I was a kid.
You have to be incredibly insecure if your identity if you are insulted by someone having a little bit of fun with a variety of stereotypes. If you’ve got the energy to get excited about something like this, go volunteer and put that energy toward something that will save people’s lives. (another very fine homemaker tradition and the way my Mom role modeled a way of life that has led to the ways I spend my time with our without pay).

It is real pity that so few have a sense of humor and always see the world as offensive..
That video is right up there with all the comedians and done with sarcastic humor..
It would fit into Saturday Night Live..

I think some people need to get into the 21st century and cable TV and movies past the year of 1970 ..
No sense of humor people are ornery people and are awful to be around and they are always in group of pessimistic people.. (shiver ..

I like the video and had a good chuckle..

(and probably very true to people who do not know how to HuLu on the internet LOL)

Who knew cady mcclain was so funny. what a funny lady holding the ciggarette. why are so many people miserable. cady was promoting all my children. get a life if you don’t like her with the cigarette lol.

The ones complaining seem to be overly sensitive and relating to the portrayal video, that usually happens when it hits home 🙂 and they feel they are being made fun of..

It was lighthearted comedy and did not bother me a bit, I laughed and enjoyed it.

You watch people having imaginary sex, people having affairs, taking drugs,Abuse and all the other stuff included in soaps and you think this is offensive. That soaps everyday and now we are raising hell over a infomercial.Your morals where that high you would never watch a soap.I’ve seen comercials on regular TV worse then this.Get a life people. They are just trying to get attention to get people to notice the soaps are coming back that don’t know it.They said they needed an attention getter infomercial to get people’s attention to watch to really see the soaps are coming back.If i felt like you all are posting I would never watch a soap.

I thought it was funny. True “story watchers” know that they come in all ages, sexes, colors, shapes, sizes and professions. OLTL has always had a lot of comedy in it… at this point, whatever gets the viewers where they need to be and makes it a success I am okay with.

I made the mistake of reading the comments before watching the video. So the entire time I was on edge waiting for her to say or do something really offensive.
……
……
……
……
……
……
Still waiting.
I mean, I would get it if perhaps she called housewives pointless. Or maybe if she actually said something along the lines of ‘kids, smoking is cool for you’, lol, but CLEARLY the purpose was just to show everyone how to log into Hulu and how easy and simple it really is.
God bless you if you found it inappropriate. You must be offended easily Everytime you turn on your television or go see a movie if THIS bothered you that much.
To each his own I suppose.

But, thanks Cady for taking the time to give helpful information in a not so standard way. At least SOME of us found it cute and entertaining. :-p

With all the problems in the world, we have started a war with words over television shows we once enjoyed together as a whole…just because some found the piece offensive like myself doesnt mean others should get overly defensive about it. I wonder what would we would be discussing now if they hadnt been cancelled? By the way Kim is right…Disney, who owns abc also has interest in hulu…it was on Yahoo! Hulu is looking for a buyer and there was talk by some of an increase fee for huluplus and maybe hulu once sold! Meanwhile, If PP truly wants to attract all fans the best moneymaking and ratings move is to provide two different versions for everyone…one edited for those who want less sexual situations(and no nudity) and less cursing and the R rated version for those who feel the only way they can be entertained by soaps today is with more graphic sex, violence and obscene language. That way we all win!

Some people on this message board act as if they never been offended by anything! YOU are soooo lucky!

Cady wouldve have been hilarious had she just spoofed her death by eating pancakes scene while trying to show how to get these soaps on line

Some of these desperate housewives on this forum are CRAY-CRAY-CRAY!!!

(or they’re deprived in certain elements of life!) :)~

lol the cigarette was a prop..
Cady did not smoke /as so many are bellying-aching over saying she was smoking, it was a prop.

( the cigarette was smoking not Cady ..

Does it really matter what she used….

I don’t know if it was funny or not, I didn’t think so.. but it was necessary.

Alot of people who post online in chatrooms, facebook, etc STILL don’t know that AMC and OLTL are: 1)coming back 2)online 3)free to watch.. we need these dummies. PP/TOLN need to get the word out, this was an attempt to do so. I don’t know if they need to do so in this manner, but it’s definitely necessary.

Hearing Cady McClain curse was kind of weird, and over the top.. but that’s where we are. Can’t wait to hear Erica Slezak drop the F-bomb.

why you gotta curse.

I watched with the volume off… didn’t read if she mentioned that Hulu+ is $7.99/mo not free. just Hulu.com is free with your desktop computer… but aside from that, I figure the mockery, not a real housewife from CT, was intended. I remember a neighbor “lady” was smoking and drinking all the time… that was early 60s.

glad I couldn’t hear her or smell the smoke.

I think funnier things could have been done to show how easy it will be to watch.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Now, let us know, did you enjoy Carol as Verla Grubbs? What show do you consider yourself a Superfan of? Tell us in the comment section.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

Photo: ABC

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Photo: ABC

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Share you remembrances and condolences for Malachy McCourt via the comment section, but first check out this scene from a 1983 episode of “Ryan’s Hope” featuring the late actor with Ilene Kristen.
