THE TALK Shows Strong Gains In Ratings Spike!

The one afternoon talk show that truly uses synergy well is CBS’s The Talk!   From consistently inviting guests from the network’s two daytime dramas, The Young and the Restless and The Bold and the Beautiful, to promoting it’s primetime line-up, and throwing in a dash of current pop culture news and views, the series has just garnered a significant ratings spike for the week ending October 5th.

According to TV By The Numbers, “The Talk posted across-the-board increases in viewers and key women demographics versus the comparable week last year, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Oct. 5. The Talk was up +23% in viewers (2.25m from 1.83m), +13% in women 25-54 (0.9/06 from 0.8/05), +17% in women 18-49 (0.7/05 from 0.6/04) and +25% in women 18-34 (0.5/03 from 0.4/02).  Season-to-date, The Talk  is up +21% in viewers (2.29m from 1.90m), +11% in women 25-54 (1.0/06 from 0.9/05), +25% in women 18-34 (0.5/03 from 0.4/02) and even in women 18-49 (0.7/05).”

Last week’s numbers,  which come out later this Friday, shall be interesting to see as well!  Joshua Morrow of The Young and the Restless was a guest co-host and the series celebrated regular co-host, Sharon Osbourne’s 60th birthday during the ratings period.

So soapers, are you tuning in to The Talk?  Let us know your thoughts!

Despite the series it replaced, my fave soap opera, I do love the ladies of ‘The Talk’. They’re much more interesting to watch than the snore fest that is ‘The View’. I hope they continue to gain and become the no.1 talk show for a group of women against their competition.

I miss Hollie and Leanne. It was a shame they were fired 🙁

I hate this show, but its no wonder they’re gaining viewers, because rival show Days sucks balls right now! People are tuning out of Days and watching Talk!

Speak for yourself Dmitri. You must be watching General Hospital in reference to the suck balls show!

Fortunately, this “ratings spike” isn’t hurting their new competition, GH, which was also up significantly from the same week a year ago (from a 1.7/5 and 2.2 million viewers the week of Oct. 3-7, 2011 to a 2.0/7 and 2.7 mil. this year). It’s good to see that there are enough viewers for both shows to thrive.

Sorry, I refuse to watch it, or any other talk show that’s replaced a soap. Nope networks, you cannot and did not “train” me. I tune into GH at 2, instead. TV goes off at 3. I still miss my 2 all time favs, As the World Turns and Guiding Light. After ATWT, I really got into OLTL. That’s gone too (I continue to ask…why??).

Agree Shelly. I cannot even stand the promos that run during B&B for this loud awful show. I guess I hate the VIew even more but will NEVER watch one second of anything but a soap during the day. DAMN IT. I LOVED ATWT, GL, OLTL, AMC, Loving, RH, Santa Barbara, every soap ever. I miss them all. I cherish & watch every second of every soap still on the air. It takes me hours to catch up on weekends but I record them in every room in my house on every possible device, I am a DIE HARD SOAP FAN. People, stop criticizing what little we have left. God, I cannot imagine life without our shows.

I avoid talk shows now that they have over ran Tv.Not giving any ratings .They’ll just cancel more soaps.People that love soaps need to take a stand over talk shows taking over.Keep giving them ratings then they’ll just cancel more soaps.

I did watch The Talk but since GH has moved to their new time at 2:00 in my area, I do not watch it any more, Love my GH WAY TOO MUCH !!!!! 🙂

“The Talk” is on at the same time as GH in my area, but even with a DVR, I will never regularly watch this show. The ONLY time I record it is if a soap star is on and I only watch their segment. The rest gets deleted.
I hate obnoxious Sheryl, and Julie lost all credibility with me when she started hosting “Big Brother”…another waste-of-time show. I don’t have an opinion about the rest of the gals, but they’re all just a bad as The View ladies when it comes to all talking at once and trying to out-yell one another.

THE TALK is just not very good. And as for CBS and its newfound synergy, well, where was this cross-promotion and such for AS THE WORLD TURNS and GUIDING LIGHT? Although I am glad the Eye network is supporting THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS and THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL, I lament the cancellations in recent years of my favorites.

I am forward thinking enough to hold out hope it will be CBS who will relight the daytime drama fire somehow. Everything old is new again, the song lyric goes!

We don’t need any more TALK in daytime or in TV, period.
