As we get ready for tomorrow’s 39th Annual Daytime Emmys, HLNTV.com asked On-Air On-Soaps Michael Fairman to weigh-on as a special guest correspondent on the Top Five Classic Daytime Emmy Moments from previous telecasts!

Although there were certainly so many to choose from,  we could only chose five! Check out our list and the winning moments in the videos attached to the countdown!

Here is an excerpt from Fairman’s picks!  “The most memorable moment happened on May 21, 1999 when Susan Lucci, who played Erica Kane on All My Children, finally won the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Daytime Drama Series award after losing in this category 18 consecutive times!  When presenter Shemar Moore uttered the now famous line, “The streak is over!” everyone realized Susan had won the gold. I was actually inside the Felt Forum (inside Madison Square Garden) in New York City, where the ceremonies were being held when the moment happened, and it was electrifying! It was the longest standing ovation I’ve ever seen at any awards show. The applause, the cheering, and the screaming felt like the roof came off the building. And then… who could forget the cutaways of Rosie O’Donnell, Oprah Winfrey, and so many daytime stars in tears for La Lucci! THEE ultimate moment.”

So what do you think were some of the most memorable winning moments in Daytime Emmy history? Check out the piece on HLNTV.com and then weigh-in! And don’t forget to tune in live tomorrow at 8pMEST/5PMPST for the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel only on HLN!

Hi Michael. How r u? I know I am pain keep emailing you. But only you trolls to my emails. Have you heard anything about Jack Wagner returning as Frisco? I keep thinking he is returning and I also heard rumor that Kristin storms is coming back as old Maxi? That would be so AWESOME IF BPTH JACK AND KRISTIN COMING BACK. be good too bring back Robin Kimberley McCullough.

I want see Frisco, Felicia and Maxi reunion. I hope fans get their wish.

The streak is over, That was the best ever I don’t think any other win can top that at least for us Susan Lucci fans, After all those nominations it was so good to see Susan win her first emmy. I remember it well I couldn’t believe that she finally won, I had the chills all over and cried like a baby I didn’t want her win to end. It was if not the best emmy ever, And if Ericka Slezak wins her 7th emmy tomorrow night I will be thrilled. I also read somewhere to day I think it was google news for One life to live they are saying that One life to live can be in the emmys next year because of the time that it ended so maybe we have another chance at winning best drama and writing next year.

Well Susan lucci, or should I call you Ericka Kane? How many times in the past 18 years I wanted to see you win then finally out of no where one year you did, It was the best ever, Well not any more, What that woman did to Ericka Slezak makes me sick to my stomach, I forgave you when you said the fans weren’t there anymore but hogging that microphone and not letting me hear from Ericka Slezak was so wrong you were not all my children girl you were a part of all my children there were several other actors far superior then you on that soap, if you were there to carry it alone you never would have made it for 40 years. I am very upset over Susan Luccis and Cameron mathsons appearance at the emmys, I could care less if I ever see those two ever again, because I will always think of that emmy show where they both showed us the fans who they truly are, very self absorbed, self centered, with God like egos. The true star is ERICKA SLEZAK, And I am not alone in my thinking.

Barbara t, what happened on Emmy night? I missed the Emmy’s, been going through allot, and just thought to look up who won on here, and ran across this page, your 1st post and THEN your reply to your post Lol. What did Susan Lucci do now, lol ? I knew it was your writing when you wrote, well Susan Lucci or should I call you Erica Kane, because you have been reading my post about this idenity confusion us fans have regarding her persona. Ok, what did Susan and Cameron do? Please advise. What they do or didn’t do to Erika Slezak?

Susan Lucci winning was definitely the best moment in Daytime Emmy history. Even if you weren’t a fan of AMC, you had to appreciate the historic moment.

Another great moment that year was when Anthony Geary won for Lead Actor, which was long overdue after his previous win 17 years earlier, and he mistakenly said “I love you Bob Woods” in his acceptance speech, when he meant to say Bob Guza.

Stuart Damon winning for Best Supporting Actor in 1998 after 7 nominations was also a wonderful moment. A long overdue honor for him.

I also loved the tribute they did for Dick Clark a few years ago, which was so moving it brought Dick to tears.

So many classic moments over the years. Hopefully we see a few more tomorrow night!

You know, I loved watching the video of LaLucci’s Emmy win once again. I got a little choked up, and you know why? Because even though I never watched AMC, I know that all of the daytime actors and actresses work harder than any other acting medium in the world. They memorize and shoot more pages than any movie star. They are challenged by new material each day and they don’t have the opportunity to work out all the little kinks and reshoot from several different angles until the emotions and shot is just right. No, our daytime stars place it all out there with raw talent. They are superstars to me; better than any other acting medium. So when someone who’s been at it for as long as Susan Lucci was and she wins, that’s a victory for all of us long-time soap fans who recognize the quality of these actors and actresses we’ve grown to love. Via La Daytime!!!

Rodd, welll written my friend. And so true. What that are conditioned to memorize on a daily basis, they should get the salaries of these fake movie star’s, who get the chance to reshoot. Well written.

Don’t forget OLTL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Erika Slezak also…She was the best in my book..And no one ele compares with her………………She a class act & a team player………………………………………………………………..Again no one else compares to Erika!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She is #1 in my book always !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WOW, this is a Susan Lucci day, Shes going to get her prime time gig, Devious maids has been picked up by lifetime, She has to be a happy person today. At least it’s not on abc/disney the soap killers.

I don’t think I will watch it…How about you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kim Zimmer winning was the best! I loved that crazy look she had and the throwing her shoes. She showed what a spitfire she and Reva are to the world. And she got so much press for her look, it made magazines like Time.

I also loved Michael Zaslow’s win, Cynthia Watros’ win, and Justin Deas’ first win on GL.

I’m a big GH fan. Loved when Tony Geary won and I am a big Maurice Bernard & Vanessa Marcil G. Fan. Loved when they won on the same night. Proud of the whole ensamble on GH! Congratulations!!

Well I am a big fan of OLTL & always will !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Erka Slezak…..Asa , Renee,Dorian,Clint, GiGi,Rex, Antonio, Christian, Bo, Nora,Roxie, Nigel and the list goes on & on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No other soap compares to OLTL..And doesn’t even come close…GH & OLTL are different as night & day !!!!! My heart belongs to OLTL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think Susan Lucci or Cameron Mathison stole the mic at all on the tribute to OLTL so chill out folks. I think the tributes did suck though. They were poorly conceived and for whatever reason did not show clips – probably because ABC wouldn’t release them I suppose. THe writing sucked the whole event (Daytime Emmy’s) were rather weak – though understandable considering the lack of time. It was on a cable network and that has limited viewers and probably not one of the high profile cable networks either like the Food Network or Lifetime or whatever.

Carol Burnett Talks About Being a Superfan of ‘All My Children’ on ‘Live with Kelly and Mark’

In a heartfelt reunion, of sorts, the one and only Carol Burnett appeared on Monday March 25th episode of Live with Kelly and Mark.

Burnett had first met Kelly Ripa (Hayley) and Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo) back when they all appeared on All My Children together. Carol played Verla Grubbs first in 1983 and then again in the 90’s.

Host Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, AMC) noted to Burnett that “we go back a long time”. She also described Burnett’s character of Verla Grubbs, “extraordinary in every way.”

Carol’s love for All My Children is well-documented, hence legendary soap creator, Agnes Nixon, created the role of Verla for Burnett.

Speaking on how her passion for All My Children began, Carol told Kelly and Mark, “It started with my kids. They would watch at noon. I said, ‘What are you guys doing?’ I sat down and I started to watch and I got hooked!”

When Carol’s family decided to travel through Europe during one summer, the comedic legend recalled thinking, “How am I going to last if I don’t know what’s going on in Pine Valley?” She revealed she had a friend, “who sent me a telegram to the (different hotels) on Fridays to bring me up to date.”

In a hilarious moment from the segment, Carol recalled receiving a late night telegram while in Lake Cuomo when there was a knock at her hotel room door from the hotel manager who was shaking.

Carol related what it said, “Erica is still in a coma. Mark slipped again and ran away from rehab.” As Kelly and Mark broke into laughter, Burnett continued, “Chuck has learned that Donna is carrying his baby, who was once a hooker.”

Check out Carol explaining how she became an AMC Superfan below.

Now, let us know, did you enjoy Carol as Verla Grubbs? What show do you consider yourself a Superfan of? Tell us in the comment section.

Malachy McCourt, ‘Ryan’s Hope’ and ‘All My Children’ Actor, Dead at 92

If you watched Ryan’s Hope through its 14-year-run, you know that Kevin the bartender became a beloved “member’ of the Ryan clan on the defunct ABC daytime drama series. The character of Kevin MacGuiness became so loved by the fans because of the actor who portrayed him, Malachy McCourt.

Sadly, according to his wife Diana McCourt to The New York Times, Malachy passed away on Monday from a heart condition and battling cancer. The actor was 92-years-old.

Playing Kevin on Ryan’s Hope was not much of a stretch for McCourt, because in his lifetime, he was the owner of 1950s Irish pub Malachy’s on Third Avenue in Manhattan. Known as one of the city’s great story-tellers, patrons from longshoremen to the actor Richard Harris would stop in and talk all things Irish with . On Ryan’s Hope, Kevin was best friends to “Ryan’s Bar” owner, Johnny Ryan (Bernie Barrow) and he tried to keep Delia (Ilene Kristen) on the straight and narrow.

In his soap opera career, McCourt also was widely-known for his role of Father Clarence McCourt on All My Children especially come Christmastime. Was Clarence, actually St. Nick? That was always the proverbial question. McCourt also appeared on the New York soaps: One Life To Live, Search For Tomorrow and Another World. Other roles included: Devil’s Own, Brewster’s Millions, The Molly Maguires, and Starman, to name

Later in 2006, Malachy ran for governor of the state of New York as a Green Party candidate. He tackled social issues of the time including being an advocate for gay and lesbian groups to march in the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

McCourt’s childhood was recounted within his brother Frank McCourt’s Pulitzer Prize-winning memoir Angela’s Ashes, which detailed their mother’s attempt to raise the four of their surviving seven children in poverty in Limerick, Ireland. Later, Malachy wrote his own memoirs: 1998’s Monk Swimming, and 2000’s Singing My Him Song.

Malachy is survived by his aforementioned wife, Diana, daughter Siobhan McCourt; sons Malachy Jr., Conor and Cormac; stepdaughter Nina Galin; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
