In case you missed the live-stream of the 46th annual Daytime Emmy Awards, NATAS released today the full version available now online.  (However, you can watch it in its entirety below).

The ceremony featured some special moments including: Presenter Shemar Moore taking time to pay tribute to the late Kristoff St. John before giving out the Outstanding Drama Series award; which eventually went to St. John’s show, The Young and the Restless.

Moore stated: “This year, we had to say goodbye to a good man, a great man, a special individual, Mr. Kristoff St. John.  I want to thank CBS. I want to thank The Young and the Restless and I want to thank the cast of The Young and the Restless for honoring him the right way. The tribute that aired this past week on The Young and the Restless, saying goodbye to Kristoff and his character, Neil Winters, was so beautifully, beautifully done. I know Kristoff is proud of all of us.”

Shemar went on to share: “He opened the door for so many of us, myself and a lot of you out there.  So as you continue young actors, carry his torch with pride.”  In the emotional highpoint, Shemar expressed that Kristoff was: “The most iconic, popular, thorough, professional, talented, big-hearted, generous African-American actor in soap opera history.  We will never, ever forget you, my brother.”

GH’s Maurice Benard (Sonny), who was surprised at his victory in the Lead Actor category, was at a loss for words and delivered a moving speech about his castmates in the Alzheimer’s storyline, and the disease. It has been over 15 years since Benard won his first Emmy for his role as Sonny Corinthos.

Alex Trebek, who previously announced he was diagnosed with stage four pancreatic cancer, won the Outstanding Game Show Host category.  When accepting the award, Trebek admitted worrying about how the sympathy vote would impact his win. “I’m not a big fan of sympathy votes. We should be judged on the merits of our work,” he went on to say. “However, last year, I had just had major surgery to remove two life-threatening blood clots. You think that would elicit a certain amount of sympathy. But I didn’t win, so maybe I’ve been worrying about the wrong thing.  So I’ll do what Sally Field did (referring to her notable Oscar-winning speech).  You guys like me, and you value my work.  I tell you if that’s the case, I can live with that.”

In addition to the above, B&B’s Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) was a surprise winner in the Lead Actress category, and Amy Poehler turned out to be Judge Judy’s biggest fan and presented Judy with her Lifetime Achievement Award.

Plus, Max Gail (Mike), who so many people were rooting for; took home the gold for his moving portrayal in the Alzheimer’s storyline on GH, Mal Young won two Daytime Emmys for Drama Series and Writing after being ousted by Y&R, and Kathie Lee Gifford won an Emmy in her final season of  Today with Hoda Kotb and was also honored and delivered a moving speech as she departs daytime.

thee overall embarrassment… yet I must give thanks to “youtube” for featuring so much weak

I have to give thanks to Kathie Lee Gifford… snarky AND gracious all humbled in to a lovely subtle kind effort she put out their. that was all you need do, Kathie… so put out your Christian realism… and let GOD speak for you

the serial categories were so weak AND mind numbing .. and once again the stench will not go away… ARGH !!!!

I have truly – now given up

HOW ON EARTH !!!! the emmy panel disrespected

Male Lead : Jon Lindstrom ; Tyler Christopher ; Billy Flynn ; even Peter Bergman !!!! I watch @GH 365 days a year… in no way was Maurice Benard 20 minute reel worth even the nomination he got. THIS JOKE will never go away. WOW head scratcher… I have already posted several times…. had Max Gail not been on the show… @Sonny character would not be on this list… Max Gail did not need Maurice Benard for his lauded employment.

Female Lead : ???? Jacquee from B&B WHAT ???? !!!! are we passing the gold around ????? SURE SEEMS like it… what with 4 shows to choose from. dang ! thankfully the actors get their own statue so the stank on shit isn’t wasted

supporting Male : Max Gail. we milk the best their is. LOL… even I could tell he is not an actor for the awards… AND if he’s just moving right along… with grace not to comment on this bottom grind of the mill. dag! I’ve seen and read enough to read his stat. he is a very well composed caring man who sees past this stuff… AND is clearly aware of the shortcomings – WRITING – this bottom feader suffers

supporting female: Vernee Watson . Lady ! you have a command unlike no other… your voice resonates… vibes… and carries . that does not make you a two time emmy. this year was so loaded with other talent that should have been awarded. I knew you could win… just hoped the dead on arrival emmy panel would have steered ^^^^ spreading the gold… since they wasted two on best lead Male and female. WOW !!!! every woman nominated deserved this win… it was thee loudest thud when whomever dropped the mic

THEE CLEAR WINNERS AND WELL NOTED BEST LAUDED GOTTA HAND IT TO THEM. YES!

@ DAYS Kyler Pettis EX @DAYS THeo
@GH Hayley Erin EX @GH Kiki

I LOVE THESE TWO TO BITS… from the get go I knew they had the acting chop.

yeah it bites it stings it REEKS even… yet I must put out their … that if @DAYS was going to lose the trifecta… i’d prefer @Y&R WIN…we all knew… that Mal Young was fired for very good reason… FIRED writer and executive producer for the less than product this past year REELED. so that is my reward this year… and that @GH was not given any consideration… because until Frank Valentini , Shelly AND Chris UP THEIR GAMESMANSHIP… I can’t write… but we as long time fans.. do know our stuff… I gladly share that

Alex Trebek win for Game Show Host.
Shemar Moore’s lovely tribute to co-star, Kristoff St. John
Y&R trifecta win and they could win 11th Daytime Drama Series next year if Josh Griffith submits Neil Winters (Kristoff St. John) death.

The Emmys : I agreed with the awards to Theo, Gail, Vernee ; however, the others were a no, no . Maura , Jon , and Days should have won. If Marla was in the running , she should have won against anyone in her category. If it was Vernee ,it would be a toss up. Yet, I would probably lean towards Marla.

Just finished watching. Glad I was able to fast forward through most of it. It was nice to see clips of the actors. I don’t watch GH, but Vernee sure served it. Happy to see Jacqui win. Shemar’s tribute to Krisoff was really nice. Thought Mal was a bit self-grandiose in his best drama speech. Was surprised some of the Y&R bigs weren’t in attendance.

Congratulations to everyone.

More of the Story on ‘General Hospital’ Star Josh Kelly’s Latest Film Role in ‘The Workout’

We had previously shared that General Hospital’s Josh Kelly was taking three weeks away from his role of Cody Bell to a shoot a role in an upcoming movie entitled The Workout.

Josh originally revealed his role in the film during an episode of GH castmates, Steve Burton (Jason) and Bradford Anderson’s (Spinelli) podcast.

Now Deadline has filled in some of the blanks, and shared some intriguing intel on the premise of the film and its back-story.  The film stars Kelly along with Peter Jae, and UFC Fighter, Ashlee Evans-Smith. Other cast members include The Bay’s Kristos Andrews.

In The Workout, two army rangers set out to create a workout video, but their plans are abruptly halted when a mob hit interrupts their filming. Tragically, one of the rangers loses his wife in the attack, sending him on a relentless mission to take down the mob and anyone who stands in his way.

The film from James Cullen Bressack, almost did not get financed.  Apparently, ten days before his birthday, Bressack made a post on Instagram about the feature and production, casting, and financing came from the post … illustrating the power of social media. After the post gained traction, a producer provided financing and actors expressed interest in joining the project, leading to a quick production.

Photo: ABC

In a statement, Bressack shared, “As artists a painter paints, a musician makes music, a writer writes, but as filmmakers we have to ask permission to create. It’s time to change that narrative. This film spawned from a necessity to create. We create. We tell stories. We play pretend. I’m excited to take this journey. This is the truest form of collaboration and a community of friends coming together to make something fun. While our industry has had a rough time recently with strikes and a possible strike looming in the future, it’s nice to remind ourselves why we got into film to begin with. To have fun telling stories.”

No word yet on when The Workout will be released.

So, looking forward to seeing this collaborative effort featuring GH’s Josh Kelly? Comment below.
