Why All My Children and One Life to Live Ads Won't Run On ABC, NBC or CBS!

Prospect Park and The Online Network are forging new territory these days with the upcoming launch and premiere of the updated revivals of All My Children and One Life to Live which starts this coming Monday, April 29th.  However, according to The Hollywood Reporter and sources, don’t look for any AMC and OLTL to get any support or play from the major television networks and especially in the daytime day-part of the soap genre, either!

According to The Hollywood Reporter article, “CBS, which has run ads for digital outlets Netflix and Hulu (which is distributing the revived soaps), declined comment. But a source tells THR the network views the digital re-launch as a direct competitor to its popular daytime dramas, including The Bold and the Beautiful.

NBC also declined to comment as did Prospect Park.  However, a source says NBC refused to carry ads during its only remaining daytime soap, Days of Our Lives. The network was open to primetime spots, which Prospect Park declined to pursue. NBC did, however, sell ads on several of its cable networks.

Now the big one GH and ABC!  ABC sources say the network was willing to accept ads within GH  because of the licensing relationship, but on April 17 when Prospect submitted an ad for OLTL that included Howarth prominently, ABC refused it — on the grounds that it would confuse the audience.  Prospect, after spending considerable time preparing the ad, balked at making changes shortly before it was to run. They did not want to take Howarth out of the ad and, already upset about its dealings with ABC, filed suit the next day.”

Brad Adgate analyst for Horizon Media related to THR : “The overriding reason to refuse is if they think it’s a threat or something that’s going to siphon off viewers from them, then they don’t think whatever they charge them would be worth it ”

Apparently as THR reports:  “The CW Network did accept ads for the online soaps, which began running in such shows as Hart of Dixie and 90210 last week. Fox, according to a source, also was open to running the ads, but Prospect Park decided against running ads there because the network has only primetime programming and no history with soap operas. ”  However as fans have seen, ads for Prospect Park’s reboot of the iconic soaps are running on several cable networks and on social media.

Watch below a 30-second spot promo for AMC and OLTL!  What do you think about the major network’s not wanting to run ads to support AMC and OLTL online?  Do you think its all’s fair in love in war in the spirit of competition? Or, do you think it would be better if the soap genre all supported one another in this day and age of converging media?  Weigh-in!

This is so selfish of the networks but I am not surprised! I will still be watching Y-R and Days as well as GH. I don’t plan to stop viewing them because these wonderful shows are back. I am just going to ad them back into my viewing schedule. And truthfully with the new online versions that will be much easier!! Prospect Park is forging ahead and as I fan I will support them any way I can!!

Can’t wait. I think ABC is afraid of the fall out. They really messed up when they cancelled these two shows, and would “have egg on their face” to now advertise them and watch as the shows absolutely take off!! It’s going to be an adjustment for sure, but I for one have no doubt that this will be an amazing journey as OLTL and AMC return, survive and become even more popular than before!!! ABC you lose. The fan’s never gave up and thank you Prospect Park for giving the fans what we want.
Monday 4/29!!!!

you know…. “judging” from the previews… resurgance… nuAMC and nuOLTL…. these soaps mind the same intrigue and capture…. our attention…. the actors don’t fade… it’s telling good story… and

without fail… these two conglomerates… two entities will prevail.

love for , already knew…. GOOD actors… and story to tune in….

i love this stuff.

so…. without fail….. sponsors know our thought processes… it’s the lil things… spending our energy and money on your product.

i’ll be their… with… on day nu1.

While I’m surprised at NBC and CBS for refusing the ads, I’m not at ABC. I wonder if they’re unpleasantly surprised that AMC and OLTL are a reality once more, and are trying to cover their rears. Or maybe they’re just as petulant as they seem.

IMO the networks are all running scared and they have good reason to. This is a total game changer. There have been made for internet shows, but never before has such a huge institution like OLTL & AMC gone from a 40+ year run on network TV to the internet. The implications of this are huge, not just for them, but the future of network TV as we know it. I predict so many people will hit these sites on Monday they will crash. Let’s make it so. 😉

Ditto!! Completely agree!!

that’s emotional … just hearing… reality once more.

Thanks.

So over the RH nonsense if OLTL depends solely on one character which I do not believe it does then they are done before they get started. PP you have other actors who have signed on for a year why use RH if he is not staying. My gosh the actor has moved on before and TSJ filled in quite nicely I am worn out with RH he is not the second coming.

I wonder who will still be there after the first year contract as up…you never know what PP is up to or what the actors will do!

ABC acts like they can’t live without RH, but that’s okay, he’s going to be staying on oltl as Todd. ABC is feeling the heat from PP and wants it to fail but I don’t think it’s going to.

Thank you…. ditto… I share your sentiment.

after all… the bottom line in the beginning… these soaps generate their purpose….

an audience and… damned those 18-49 tuned in? – LOL… I am around and spend my dollars…. rock on 50+…

i’m over that.

as for RH…. he’s an enervated actor…. from OLTL – to ATWT- to GH.

and back where he belongs…. to OLTL… however… i agree… TSJ is even BETTER.
his scenes and preview as Roger… are astounding. his and Vicki’s scenes are moving,

when he returns to GH… that’s OK.

you know… for what it’s worth… i get tired of hearing… and i stand for it… when it’s implied… generated that soaps are the lower echelon…. damned the rest of them…

RH is doing his job. when you bear witness to him… it’s more than just his body… more than his mind… he’s there… and you think what if…. yikes….

It doesn’t matter to me that they won’t run the ads – I’ve already seen one for the rebooted shows on Canadian TV – for FX Canada where I’ll be watching come Monday.

BOOYAH !!

I think the networks are being petty. Since OLTL and AMC will be available to watch anytime – day or night, they are not direct competition. I am sure that people will continue watching whatever soaps they currently watch and hopefully will also watch AMC and OLTL at their convenience. I think it behooves all the networks which carry soaps to help the genre. ABC has proven itself to be petty and nasty as with killing off 2 or 3 of OLTL’s characters without permission from Prospect Park.
On another note- I hope PP ignores the previous deaths- they did not occur on OLTL and brings at least Hope back when it recasts Starr

Yes, this. It’s crazy… and ABC saying that the audience would be confused about RH on both shows.. way to think your audience is stupid. RME.

I agree. I mean people can be in a movie and on TV. People don’t say, “I don’t understand, he’s in a movie playing John Jones and on TV playing Bill Smith. IDuh I am so confused. It’s stupid. And I can not imagine these 3 actors playing all new characters this soon to when they were playing the AMC characters on GH. It will be weird. Especially for ME who already played 2 different characters. If he’s a vampire or that Clay guy- I will fast forward.

boy I agree! unless you’ve been living under a rock you totally know what’s going on… and what about guest appearances on other shows, we understand an actor can be on more than one show at a time, portraying more than one character.

but as far as turning down advertisements, I believe it’s probably in their advertising guidelines that they can refuse any advertisements they want.

I think it was hopeful thinking on PP’s part to think ABC would embrace advertisement with one of the characters they both have been wrestling over… they should have had more than one advertisement in case one wasn’t accepted.

Most of the audience doesn’t go online or look up soap information, they just sit home & watch their show and they are going to be as confused as hell when they see KA, RH and ME as different characters so soon after being the Llanview characters….This is probably going to be a giant fail…Bill Eckart anyone? LOL

Nancy, I would like to be a fly on the wall in homes of those who know nothing about the dealings of these 3 actors/characters and PP and ABC on the day when the three come back on as Moon Persons, Tad Fanning, and Jack O’Brian. I sure hope the people who watch AMC and OLTL are aware that their shows are coming back on.

Its not like Cole and Hope are really dead and cant be written back in.

Kristy, I agree about ABC not taking the ads. But why didn’t NBC or CBS accept. i think it’s nasty. PP was ready to pay good money.

I agree Lin!

Of course. You don’t see General Hospital ads during The Young and The Restless do you? Or Bold and the Beautiful ads airing during Days of our Lives. This makes total sense. No network airs ads for their direct competition. I find it amusing that this is surprising to some. It is standard practice for all of the three major networks.

Exactly!

Soapnet is the exception. It advertises all that are on that network. Soapnet is the missed opportunity. Had ABC/Disney/Soapnet carried PP’s OLTL or AMC they would have helped the genre and themselves. Better yet had they tried what PP is doing themselves and created reboots of OLTL and AMC playing on Soapnet and Soapnet.com and Hulu and HuluPlus they would and could have been the pioneer in multi-media soaps. They could also make agreements with the current web based soaps to carry them on Soapnet and Soapnet.com. Think of The Grove the Series from Crystal Chappell… it could be picked up by Soapnet as a Soapnet exclusive cable and web based soap that could also play over on Hulu and Hulu Plus. What a missed opportunty to get all of the web based soaps and the traditional soaps through Soapnet! They could try subscription based more PG13 type content for the more non traditional ones. So many missed opportunities!!!

The plans to change soapnet to a kiddie channel were made before the soaps were cancelled so they most likely wouldnt have picked them up!

do the 3 original networks jump on the bad wagon…

to support daytime that has more steady shows… than watch your step, falling in, dropped, programs, in prime time….

I don’t think the nuINTERNET tptb… well take lightly standard and good practice.. ethically… what we expect.

good Writing…. the actors MORE than Deliver… Talented.

I can only hope…. GEEZ! DAYS… – writing – that the more the mary’ier.

fantastical soap is linger and recall… good show.

Agrees with Ava, this makes sense in not airing it, its still the competition no matter how its viewed, PP is looking for more publicity and if not careful ABC/Disney will CRUSH them, if canceled 2 shows after saying they were safe you think PP has ANY chance in a court of law??? please wake up folks. ABC has tons of money if and they know they can win on a baseless lawsuit they will. PP started this nonsense a year ago with the LOANING of characters, ever see any other company just simply loan out things??? Im not saying ABC is blameless but in this case ill defend them as its a idiotic lawsuit!!!!

They could put the AD’S on at night not during the day and like Lin said they can be watched at anytime so it is not competition for the other networks! If it was NOT for ABC breaching their contract there would be no LAWSUIT!

Finally another voice of reason thank you Ava!

I agree! Especially since GH needs all the ratings it can get

Thank you Ava- you said it perfectly. It isn’t so much about any particular show, but networks don’t prompt other network shows, for day time or prime time. It wasn’t that long ago, that on a talk show or whatever, you weren’t even allow to say what network your show was on if wasn’t on the same network the talk show was on.
But since ABC has a small stake in this new venture, you would think they would be willing to promote it to their audience. Most soap fans know about the issue with RH, so I don’t they would have been any “confusion” . IMO, it sounds like ABC has egg on their face because they know they were mistaken in cancelling these soaps in the first place.

does this speak volumes of what the computer, – internet – is capable off?

like we once depended on…. the networks…

stand up and be driven…?

the networks were ? leary of cable…

now all this broo how ???? with internet.

chain of command…

Hear the fan.

word of mouth… advertising..

knowing when to listen to fans…. oh geez! (days)…

good writing…

full up seats… SRO.. standing room only.

heck… i reach.

i’m excited for this nuMind and energy.

If Networks do not advertise on other networks then why is it I see advertisements for SVU season 14 on the USA Network? I’ve seen advertisements for WWE Monday Night Raw on other networks, Advertising for Fox’s Sunday Night line up is advertised on other networks, so from what I have seen yes other networks advertise their shows on other networks.

I forgot to mention in my reply to Joliefan Forever in a post below that once shows go into syndication any network can air them- like first run Big Bang Theory is on CBS, but in syndication I have seen on Fox, so in a way by promoting the syndicated show on their network they are promoting another network show. Also, some stations are independent and they air shows from various networks. So it was inaccurate for me to say other networks never air ads for shows on other networks, but I still maintain as far as big 3 go- I will never see CBS advertising GH, or ABC advertising for Y&R.

I heard Prospect Park wants a jury trial. They don’t want me on their jury. I don’t think anyone should be forced to advertise for the competition. And call it what you may, OL and AMC are soaps.

Well I hope if you are on the jury you actually read the lawsuit before making your decision as their is way more to this lawsuit than just that!

I understand PP would want to advertise in they daytime but when i said its lame for PP not wanting to advertise in Primetime is because a lot of people who watch then also DO watch primetime! Also whats wrong with trying to attractive primetime viewers to these reboots…there not daytime serials anymore they are anytime as said by Erika Slezak so being ANYTIME why not air promos ANYTIME? You havent seen the show yet as well. I was merely suggestioning PP can easily write all the characters back into the show without any connection to GH! When i said Nat was paired with Cutter i was pointing out it was easy for PP to write that in without John. And if the character is brought back he could be written without mentioning Sam from GH. Maybe if you reread my comments youd understand me more cleary instead of telling me to read the lawsuit which i DID read! My comments werent for or against the lawsuit…i was simply pointing out how simple it is for PP to rewrite what GH had done like you did previously for the Victor/Walker storyline which by the way i thought was brilliant. At the moment i could care less about the lawsuit…i just want to watch my soaps where i prefer my drama to be…and by the way if PP wins or loose it looks like both reboots will become hits anyway and thats what we should be thankful for! Plus GH should be supported as well and not talked against just because its in the middle of a lawsuit that looks like two big babies fighting over the same toy.(Yes it looks like ABCs fault) We should be supporting all soaps weve all fought so hard to keep instead of fighting over who is right and who is wrong because we are starting to look worse than ABC/DUMMIES!

Hey Kim,
They are advertising on Prime time, I saw a commercial for OLTL and AMC on TBS last night during the Big Bang Theory. My mom saw one last night on LMN.
That is just it PP was on Limited time they did not have time to rewrite story lines that involved John, Starr, “Todd” Cole Hope and Tomas, ABC had no right to do what they did, ABC agreed to the terms that PP laid out and I am sorry I see no fault on the PP side of it, this is all on ABC.
The Vic Jr/Todd ending I came up ((Thank you very much for the compliment)) was just an ending to an already existing OLTL story line, ya see what I am saying? That is totally different than rewriting a story line.
The only one I see acting like a Big Baby is ABC and they have since they decided to cancel the shows. I am sorry but I fought to see my shows again, I could care less about GH and could care less when ABC decides to dump that show too, Sorry I can not and will not support a show on a Network Like ABC, I can not and will not support a show who’s EP and Head writer are nothing more than ABC lap dogs.
Sorry Right is right and ABC finally got called out as the sneaky shady money hungry company they truly are and I for one hopes ABC gets their collective greedy asses handed to them in court!
Any who LOL, Enjoy the shows tomorrow I know I will and I am sure I will see you on here tomorrow Kim!
TTYL!

Hi Joliefan Forever- Mary SF here –to answer your question on my post about networks advertising shows on other networks– I can’t say for certain, but perhaps the shows you are referring to are all own by the same parent company, and in those cases there can be cross promoting. Here in Canada Bell Media owns, two major networks CTV and CTV2 along with a host of cable networks, so those networks all own by same parent company cross promote, so can I see an ad for a cable show on their main network and vice-versa.
I imagine it would be same in the States, like ABC is owned by Disney so any Disney cable show could be promoted on ABC, even if the cable network it runs on isn’t ABC. But since I don’t know who owns those shows or cable networks those shows you mentioned are one, I can’t say for certain that is why you saw ads for them on another network. But as a rule of thumb the big 3 networks in the States would not advertise another networks show, and that is what I was referring to, it might be different for cable shows. I hope that helps.

Hi ya Mary SF,
I understand what you are saying However, I do not believe that USA, TBS and TNT are all from the same parent company. Disney owns ABC yet you never see Commercials for ABC shows on any of the Disney Channels. Anyways have a nice night Mary and Enjoy the shows tomorrow!!

That’s not the only point in their lawsuit.

I think its a little bit of both. I think the big statons nbc abc and cbs feel alls fair in love and war and competition but the soap genre should ALL support one another in this day and age. Unfortunately the powers at all four soaps have no say in what the network does. Lets face it abc wouldnt have this competition in the first place if they hadn’t canceled our soaps. I really hope PP is a HUGH success with these soaps.

ABC, NBC, and CBS already promotes these reboots when stars from both soaps have appeared on The Chew, The View and other network talk shows! No big deal! Why would you advertise the competion anyway…it would be like Burger King advertising a Mcdonalds Big Mac, im just saying!

PP seems okay without the big 3 support but NBC did offer to run ads in primetime but PP refused which doesnt make sense to me! Why want network ads only in daytime…thats kinda lame. PP also claimed it didnt approve of gh killing of certain characters but seems to be using Tea’s dead baby plot and is writing for Todd with no problem. Cole and Hopes bodies were never shown and there was a possibilty GH couldve shown they were still alive which PP can still do, and Tomas was only hinted at being Alcazar which could easily be ignored by PP. Are they going to kill off John Mcbain on OLTL since someone leaves, and this is what Bo and Natalie investigates? Plus Natalie was rewritten to be paired with Cutter so it should be no big deal with PP when GH paired John with Sam! And since no AMC characters were on GH…Skye dont count…and abc/dummies were stand to make money, i dont feel there was much of a sabotage by abc/dummies! P.S. get well soon to my friend Jim who has suddenly taken ill this morning!

Of course they would want there ad’s run during the day that is the audience they are trying to let know about the shows returns so no it is not lame for them to want the ad’s to air during the day. GH went and did what they wanted with the OLTL characters that were on loan without Getting PP’s Permission as it was stated and AGREED to by ABC that is where the Breach of contract comes in to play! It does not matter what they showed or did not show, It does not matter what they hinted at they had no right to epically a character that was NOT loaned to them. Because they showed Natalie and Cutter on the Dance Floor at Shelter, they rewritten Natalie to be with Cutter! You have no idea what they are doing with her and Cutter the show has not even aired yet! Actually NO Skye does not count because SKYE is NOT apart of OLTL or AMC anymore she is a GH character!!
Ya know if more people would actually read the lawsuit a lot of these comments would not even be on here……..

While it doesn’t surprise me with regards to ABC, they are afraid that AMC and OLTL are going to be a HIT, which will make them look stupid for ever cancelling these shows in the first place to replace them with shows we are already polluted with. I understand NBC/CBS though, as they see AMC/OLTL via digital launch a direct threat because so much of today is done online.. I have seen the promos during Lifetime Television Network, and all I can say is GO PROSPECT PARK!! Real fans love you and thank you for bringing our shows back!!

Please the networks are just protecting their interest.

You wouldn’t see Mcdonalds placing ads for a pizza shop in their restaurants. They are not the same but are still competition.

Same goes with PP shows. They are online shows but still a soap. In fact you dont see ABC advertising for NBC shows even that are not direct competiton do you?

This is just another way for Prospect Park to get attention and cry victim

i don’t think they’re competition at all! you can watch OLTL & AMC at ANYTIME OF DAY.

I couldn’t have said it better myself.

ABC executives are brain dead and they think we are to. Do they think we don’t know who is on what show? GMAB. NBC has nothing to worry about here. I do not watch them in the day time They cancelled my favorite shows GL and ATWTs, so they can put whatever on their network. I have made it a habit to never watch what they have put on in place of my soaps, never! I don’t care.. Sounds like a bunch of petty children, can’t be boss give me my ball, I am going home. Yuck. No wonder the networks are having so much trouble they are acting like children! Acting children are more grown up. Hope they don’t think that by doing this people won’t watch the online soaps,fergetaboutit..Lots of people are looking forward to them. I may even watch AMC I am looking forward to Jesse and Angie..The rest not so much.

Assuming the reasons listed in the THR article are true, some of PP’s excuses make little sense to me. They are okay with having ads run on CW, which as far as I know only has nighttime programming. (My CW affiliate runs Family Feud and talk shows during the daytime.) Yet one of the reasons for turning down Fox is becuse Fox only has nighttime programming. Huh?

Also mentioned is that PP’s ads on CW are running during the nighttime soap 90210, and that Fox has NO history with soaps. Um, I guess they aren’t aware that the original 90210 was a Fox show. So was the popular Melrose Place. And “24” may not be a soap but certainly counts as serialized fiction that did well for years.

Also, while Fox may not have a nighttime soap at the moment, they seem to be getting fairly big audiences in key demographics for American Idol and other contests and reality shows. I would think if Fox is agreeable to your advertising, you jump at the chance to try to attract that new, young audience you claim to want.

I would think most people who still watch one or more of the remaining daytime soaps already have at least some awareness about these online returns, so trying to put ads on during the extisting shows seems like a waste of money.

With such a midset, I can see why it took PP an extra year to even get this far. (Though I think the REAL unspoken reason for turning down Fox’s offer is that CW’s ad rates are likely more within PP’s budget than ad rates for the more popular Fox shows.)

As for ABC, it makes perfect sense that while GH begins its task of getting the audience accustomed to Roger Howarth returning as someone who isn’t Todd that the network doesn’t need to be advertising reminders that you can still see the character you know…just not on this show on this network. The whole ABC/PP situation should have been handled better on both sides, but this is the way things are now, so I can understand why ABC wouldn’t allow the Todd-focused ad (though I’d like to see it).

Me? I just want to see both GH and OLTL succeed in some format for many years to come, assuming the fictional drama can somehow surpass all the fascinating and insane real-life behind the scenes drama leading up to OLTL’s comeback.

*With such a mindset…” – not “midset” (Stupid typo…!)

I don’t see this as direct competition since OLTL and AMC are no longer ‘daytime’ soaps, nor are even in an actual time slot. Perhaps the networks master plan to eliminate the genre is being thwarted potential success online. I doubt any of the networks want to face the same outcry that ABC experienced over the last 2 years. I truly believe that success online will determine the future of the genre, and it will not take too long to see. Therefore, everyone who ever wanted these shows back better be watching!

Did Prospect Park really think that their competition would want to air ads?

Now they will claim sabotage again

Here is my question would Prospect air ads for GH, Days or Y&R? I bet not.

I think its ridiculous that PP is upset about this

You’re right. I can just imagine PP’s reaction if ABC wanted them to include a GH ad during OLTL promoting the new characters that Howarth, Easton and Alderson will be playing.

agreed

Actually, PP and ABC are in business together, befitting each other.
ABC will be making 23? million a year off of PP as they both share the profits.
For ABC to allow PP to place an ad on ABC daytime would be money in ABC’s pocket also..
That is why ABC did allow the ads, at first, they just not want the ad that had a conflicting confusion of a GH character (Todd) and OLTL character (Todd) as being on which show ..
(and that is understandable

But ABC had no problem accepting pp’s money to run the ad.

Thank you Nancylp!!!!

ABC will make million’s off both soaps once they air.. I’m sure they want them to air.
PP would not accept the night/prime-time ad offer because they are very expensive, more so than day time.
ABC is confident, no fear of PP and very secure and PP likes to push the envelope.

I would never allow any competition to have an ad on my station, either. It’s bad for business.
Too many are emotional and make it personal and business people who run billion dollar companies do not.

(((if I had gas station and my gas was 3.50 a gallon I would not put a sign in my window telling my customers that the gas station across street has gas for 3.40 gallon))) DUH ..

Good reply! I doubt PP would allow advertising for gh to promote the big threes return! Nice me and you can agree on something for a change!

Again, then ABC shouldn’t have accepted their money to run the ads. It had to do with RH being in the ads.

ABC is not secure at all, they thought PP was done and has tried to undermine them to keep them from getting the shows into production, it’s Disney that will be getting this stream of money and they have had to step in several times to put ABC in their place so to speak. I think they are afraid that pp is going to be a hit and they will look like fools cancelling the soaps since their daytime shows aren’t working out that great.

Another Great logical remark from nancylp!!

I suppose all of them don’t want to support the competition. All have already lost audience to cable. I only watch network TV during the day. Not the alphabet network of course. In the evening, it’s either an old movie on cable or videos the internet. All network programming is pretty worthless from my stand point.

The networks are smartly ignoring the start up on line shows. I know many fans are jubilant but I still say the reboots face huge challenges and access is their biggest problem. They are not in TV and therefore not in competition with network shows. Several, years ago I read an extensive analysis of soap viewer demographics and if the report is still applicable in 2013 the age and relative lack of affluence of a typical soap viewer does not lend itself to on line soaps. i cannot picture great aunt edith sitting at a computer desk to watch anything. Heck she never heard of Hulu. I think prospect park is buying cheap publicity with their lawsuit.

I can see both sides of this argument and of course no one expects one business to be promoting the competition’s efforts over its own interests. But that’s not what this is. I think the networks are being short sighted and more than a little defensive here much like record companies fighting against online music delivery.

Network TV has long been advertising supported and they routinely advertise many products that can be seen as direct completion to themselves. Movies are the most glaring example. Both are viable entertainment choices. What they’re not is the either/or choice that some of the comparisons above have tried to make them out to be. This isn’t a situation where you’ve decided to have carryout tonight and have to choose one burger, one pizza or whatever over all the other offerings. There’s room for multiple choices here which I think is scaring the hell out of the networks right now.

Frankly, I think there’s also more than a little embarrassment on the part of network execs, daytimers in particular, to learn too late that the castoff soaps they were so sure no one wanted anymore are still very much wanted indeed and far more so than yet another “lifestyle” or reality show being shoved down one’s throat in an increasingly over-saturated market. I also don’t think they much like having what used to be a mostly captive and passive “loyal” audience telling THEM what we want to see rather than the other way around. They obviously don’t have a lot of confidence in their own “brands” if they’re that threatened by a new player with a totally different delivery system entering the game.

Great post one of the best I’ve seen on here!!

I have seen Advertisement On LMN plugging OLTL & AMC for 4/29. Wow that is this coming Mon.! HELLO!!!!! WELCOME BACK!!!! The heck with ABC! Yhey are mad & jealous our beloved soaps are back! And ABC and their stupid talk/ino/talk & lets not forget those pathetic cooking shows!

I’m just so done with caring about the feuds that ABC & PP are having….I just can’t wait until Monday to watch my shows.

IN 38 HOURS OUR SOAPS ARE RETURNED TO US!!!!!!

I’m not surprised by this at all. Why should these shows get promoted when the networks hardly ever, if ever, promote the shows they already have on daytime. Plus, if this venture succeeds (and I hope and trust they will) it will open the flood gates for more competition for the already-floundering-networks.

I just saw a promo for both shows on Nick @nite

In my opinion this is absolutely crazy. Two years ago the daytime industry including Oprah Winfrey was calling soaps a dying breed, here we are about to make history with the online debut of AMC and OLTL. Having said that, I believe at the time ABC gave PP licensing rights to the shows, it was a strategic move to calm upset fans. ABC didn’t plan the 2 shows ever seeing the light of day. ABC is nervous the reboot is going to be an overwhelming success which will really make them look bad. I wish everyone would embrace and support what is about to happen.

How are those talk and cooking shows working out tor you ABC?
Bwa ha ha ha ha ha hah

Didn’t think so. Why don’t you cut your nose off to spite your face next. Ignorant Dummies!!!

Jacob Young Shares Production Pic of Cast of His New Film Featuring Joan Collins and Nadia Bjorlin

Last month, during a livestream conversation on the Michael Fairman Channel, while promoting Jason Cook’s film, Four for Fun, and featuring soap notables Jacob Young (ex-AJ, AMC, ex-Lucky, GH, ex-Rick, B&B) and Brytni Sarpy (Y&R), Young revealed some intel on his upcoming movie project.

Jacob shared that he was set to direct, produce and star in a Agatha Christie-like murder mystery feature film, Murder Between Friends shooting in Prague.

The actor/director expressed, “I’m flying at the end of the March to Prague to direct, produce and star in a film with Joan Collins (ex-Dynasty). Nadia Bjorlin (ex-Chloe, Days of our Lives) is in it, and Toby Alexander Smith from Eastenders (ex-Gray Atkins). Plus, a couple of my Broadway friends and a very well known Czech actress (Hana Vagnerova). It’s very ‘Knives Out’ without having a hundred million dollars to shoot it, but still will be a lovely film nonetheless.”

Then, in 1992, she was cast as All My Children’s Nola Orsini. In the storyline, Tad (Michael E. Knight) had amnesia and washed ashore from a river and wides up in California. He gets a job at Orsini Vineyards, where the owner, Nola Orsini (Rush), says that he is the spitting image of her missing son, Ted Orsini, who was kidnapped as a child, and insists Tad is him. She takes him in, trains him to run the vineyards, and makes him her heir, completely convinced he is her lost son, and the story unspooled from there.
