A familiar face to the CBS Daytime family has been cast as the new Thomas Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful.  The on-screen son of Ridge and Taylor last played by Pierson Fodé, will make his way back to the screen in the form of Matthew Atkinson (Ex-Austin, The Young and the Restless).

According to Soap Opera Digest, Atkinson will make his debut on BOLD on the March 14th episode.

What viewers last knew of Thomas was that he was living in New York with Caroline and their son.

On Y&R, Atkinson played the role of Austin Travers a cameraman and photographer who kidnapped Avery, shot Paul Williams and was romantically involved with Summer Newman.

So, what do you think of Matthew as the new Thomas Forrester? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

Was hoping josh would find a way to bring him back from the dead on y n r!
Oh well. Y n r s loss is b n bs gain.
Cant wait to watch him

The character has been LONG GONE from “Y & R” – it was an ill-conceived character at best…

They do manage to keep the same look of the character whenever they recast him.

This particular one looks younger, similar, but younger.

He’s a good actor, I’m not sold on his taking over the role of Thomas Forrester. Pierson Fodé will be a tough act to follow. I’ll keep an open mind.

Yes, will be a tough act to follow for Pierson was my favorite Thomas…

Awesome. I loved Pierson so much and was worried I would be disappointed on the newbie. I’m very excited. Loved Matthew on YR. Congrats to him! Can’t wait to see him and the next Thomas storyline. Bored with the whole stolen baby one lol 🙂

Bad choice. Bad, bad choice. I was not sold on him as Austin, and I doubt I’ll be sold on him as Thomas. Am hoping TPTB push Brad Bell out of his positions, and get someone in there who can properly work a 30-minute soap opera. Hollyoaks is the prime example of how to properly run a 30-minute soap opera without running into a continuous spin of love triangles, etc.

Brad Bell seems intent on keeping that old played out Ridge-Brooke-Taylor triangle with Liam, Hope, and Steffy, good lord, the man needs to put that thing to rest for once and for all and move to something different, and not dead babies different either! The same old tired triangle storyline and the endless recaps are getting to be too much! They will literally open a scene with the characters recapping what the viewers just saw in the previous scene, like they’re airing it for Alzheimer’s patients! Needs fresh content!

Agreed. Acting is one note.

Seconded. Terrible, self conscious, squinty.

Well this was a surprise! But a very welcomed one. Matthew was great on Y&R, even if his character wasn’t. He certainly has the look to play Thomas, and the acting chops. I just hope they have an actual story planned for Thomas, and don’t do what they did to Ingo Rademacher. B&B needs to refocus on it’s core characters and trim the fat of ones like Reese, Florence and Zoe. Rick & Thorne should both be in front-and-center story instead of recurring status, and they should bring back Felicia and Bridget.

I am sure they will be using Thomas to break up Sally and Wyatt. I hope Sally tells him where to shove it, after the way he left her to go to NY to be with his ex twit, whom we are putting up with now on Days. I liked this guy though, and felt sorry for him, to have to put up with with Summer.

Interesting selection to say the least.

He’s got the right look. Just hope they give him a real story to play.

Yes, and not join Thorne in the basement.

I liked him on Y&R. I wonder what Thomas will be up to now.

My favorite Thomas was Drew Tyler Bell. I wish they would bring him back. Although I approve of this new choice of actor, hopefully B&B will give Matthew a better role than Y&R did. It’s just amazing that he is now the fourth actor to play an adult Thomas. I think the only other B&B character to have four portrayers is Thorne, but that was over a much longer period of time.

I was hoping for new blood not a new relative. I want a man for Steffy and not so many babie s. They need not looking young m en, someone else besides boring Liam and Wyatt.

Yes! Drew Tyler Bell was the most authentic

For sure Hal.

For any veteran ATWT viewers………..

I’ve always thought Atkinson bears a strong resemblance to Ed Fry, the actor who played ATWT’s Larry McDermont (one of Susan Stewart’s ex-husbands and the father of Allison Stewart). Fry easily could play this guy’s dad.

Do not like the new Thomas Forrester

This guy is awful!! Bring Pierson back please!! Otherwise I’m fast forwarding whenever he’s on scteen. Did not think he acted well on young and restless!

He is horrible and the whole storyline is even worse. That is not how Thomas acts. Definitely feels like a forced storyline that was not developed very well.

Agreed. He’s awful.

Agreed

NO! NO! NO!!!! Not this guy as NEW THOMAS FORRESTER.

Absolutely the worst recast as Thomas Forrestor. He was ok in Y & R’s Austin roll, but this is simply painful to watch. He has no depth of character, no chemistry with anyone. Sorry, I hate to say negative things but it is hard to watch him with anyone. Nice looking fella but not even close to as good as the last actor.

I hate the new Thomas.lousy actor whimpy looking guy.

GOOD CHOICE OF CHARACTER. HE HAS THE NASTY PIGGY LITTLE EYES TO MATCH THE NASTY PIGGY LITTLE CHARACTER HE IS PLAYING

He is so creepy

I don’t think he is right for the roll I love the B&B

When is Hope going to find out about her Baby it has gone on to long . I never miss looking at the B&B my favourite TVShow.

Not a fan…
does nothing for the role at all…. helping me to hate Thomas though.

I don’t like him!

Horrible actor! Being dark haired and good looking is not enough, you have to be able to act for heaven’s sake. Casting decisions in recent years have been seriously questionable, it’s a shame and BATB is becoming a parody of a soap.

The new Thomas is AWFUL! He sucked on YnR and is worse on TBTB. This storyline is so BAD. I fast forward through all of Thomas n Hope’s scene now. About to scrape watching at all! Time for new material.

Every time he comes on the screen I think about giving up watching the show. This whole baby thing is getting ridiculous too. How long is this going to be dragged out, until the baby is grown?? I don’t believe that Ridge gives a carp about Hope’s happiness, he just wants her out of the way for his daughter Steffy. Loosing all respect for him too.

He doesn’t fit the part. Just to creepy.

I agree! Creepy! So sick of looking at him without his shirt! Such a strange replacement. Hope they write him off or replace him.

Matthew Atkinson is ruining B&B for me and alot if others. The story line is just offensive. I cant watch it now and did watch since the beginning.

‘The Talk’ Renewed For 15th and Final Season to End in December; Does Its Cancellation Make Room for ‘The Gates’?

Things just got very interesting over at CBS daytime with the announcement today that The Talk is going to end its run on the network after its 15th season, and that season looks to be shortened as the series will come to its conclusion in December of 2024.

In a joint statement, Amy Reisenbach, President, CBS Entertainment and David Stapf, President, CBS Studio, shared, “The Talk broke new ground when it launched 14 years ago by returning daytime talk to CBS with a refreshing and award-winning format. Throughout the years, it has been a key program on CBS’ top rated daytime line-up as it brought timely, important and entertaining topics and discussions into living rooms around the globe.”

Reisenback and Stapf added, “It goes without saying that hosting and producing a year-round talk show is no easy task, and we express our sincere gratitude to our amazing hosts Akbar Gbajabiamila, Amanda Kloots, Natalie Morales, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood, our Executive Producer/Showrunner Rob Crabbe and the hardworking producing team and crew.

Giving props to those who co-hosted or worked on the show through the years including: Sara Gilbert, Julie Chen Moonves, Carrie Ann Inaba Leah Ramimi, Marissa Janet Winokur, Holly Robinson Peete, Eve, Aisha Tyler, and Sharon Osbourne, the joint statement added, “We also want to acknowledge our former show hosts and colleagues who contributed throughout the seasons. We truly appreciate the skill, creativity, and dedication everyone involved brought to the show every day.  And of course, we thank the numerous guests who appeared, and the millions of viewers who tuned in daily. For the final season, we plan to celebrate the show and give it the proper sendoff it deserves when it concludes in December 2024.”

While no firm decision or announcement has been given at this time, it seems most likely that The Talk’s time slot could be given to the new soap opera in development The Gates from CBS Studio Ventures and from longtime soap opera writer. Michele Val Jean.  As previously reported, The Gates features the lives of a wealthy Black family who reside in a posh, gated community.

The Talk was originally the brainchild of Sara Gilbert, who had developed the show when it launched back 2010 and it replaced the beloved As the World Turns which went off the air after 54 years when CBS canceled it.

So, what do you think of The Talk being canceled? Will this make room for The Gates to begin to air in its spot beginning in 2025? Share your reactions to the news via the comment section.
