Y&R Promo Hails: New Year, New Drama! And … Sharon and Nick Kiss!

The New Year is upon soap fans, and for many viewers for some storylines on their favorite soaps they hope it will be “out with the old … in with the new!”
And now, CBS Daytime has released its promo for The Young and the Restless as preview of what is to come in the early part of 2014 and during Genoa City’s New Year’s Eve! In the promo, Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) warns Dylan (Steve Burton) not to drum anything from the past up, which we will know he will do since Ray Wise will be seen shortly on the show as Dylan’s cult leader bio-dad!
In addition, Billy (Billy Miller) looks to be having some extra-curricular activities with Kelly (Cynthia Watros), as they grieve over the loss of both their children! So, what is Billy going to do about his marriage to Victoria (Amelia Heinle)?
Elsewhere, Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) share a kiss on New Years Eve and from the looks of it, the duo known as Shick, may have another chance at love! But will happen when Nick finds out the paternity secret switcheroo caused by Sharon regarding Summer (Hunter King), and Sharon’s part in Phyllis’ (formerly, Michelle Stafford) coma?

I can understand Jill Farren Phelps’ lack of creativity but recycling something that happened just seven short years ago (Nick and Phyllis) is inexcusable.
2014, however, will be nice without Adam on the scene.

I take it none of you have ever lost someone close to you, nor do you know the various steps of grief. Otherwise, you’d know that there are many people who will have sex with someone (many times not their spouse) to prove to themselves that they “are alive,” “can still feel” and other emotions. Strange, but so true. This is also something that’s been used in movies, books and shows (not just soap operas) for decades; hundreds of years, actually, so laying the blame for Billy having sex with Kelly (which we ALL knew was coming, for heaven’s sake) onto JFP’s square shoulders is wrong. And calling it “recycling?” Well, let’s say that the old tragic love story between a man and a woman has been recycled ever since Adam and Eve, shall we? Or at least since Romeo and Juliet, eh? If you don’t read, you don’t learn that stories have common threads throughout life, no matter what the genre it’s displayed in now. And people cheat; they have since there were 3 people on earth where 2 were of different sex from a third. That’s when murder usually comes in…loves becomes sex, sex becomes passion, passion becomes jealousy, jealousy becomes murder, murder becomes grief, grief becomes comfort, comfort becomes love/sex, circle circle circle. Life is a circle; so are stories. Thus they continue to turn…and we watch to see what happens to them on all sides…
Still don’t see why the soap killer had to kill off a legacy child! I’m barely watching this crap.
Sooo sick of Nick & Sharon. Same old stuff. Rinse, Lather, Repeat. In fact Y&R is no longer good or entertaining. Depressing show
Billy and Kelly are disgusting.
I could understand if Billy was still on the computer around the clock, but he was able to put on a happy face for Christmas with Victoria and Johnny so the affair makes no sense with the way this story is written.

What did Sharon ever do? Nick is the one who plays the Mad White Boy since what 1994 real old. I do not want her with him either she deserves better! Bring back a recast Sam and kick all their asses to the curb!!!

Let’s see…she had an affair with Diego when she was married to Nick, then she abandoned her family and had an affair with Cameron Kirsten while she was also married to Nick; she slept with Brad when he was married to Vicsnoria (who I believe was still her sister-in-law at the time); slept with her husband Jack, her brother-in-law Billy, and ex-husband Nick and then had no clue who her baby daddy was; forgave Adam for stealing her baby seconds after she gave birth to her and then slept with him in New Orleans when she was engaged to marry Nick; married her father-in-law; burned down the Newman ranch; and somehow managed to tamper with Nu-Summer’s DNA paternity test separating father and daughter. Oh yeah — and she constantly ignores her wheelchair bound mother.
I have to agree that Sharon is pretty awful.
Is that all! As you can see the writing for her character has been pretty crappy for a long time. Diego affair was after Nick & her best friend Grace and the deal with Cameron was Cameron stalking her she had a one night stand while she was gone(contract negotiations) he beat her up and then came to Genoa City stalking her. The other situations not so great I agree. But no I do not want her back with Nick that ship sailed a long time ago.
Alan…HELL TO THE YEAH Sharon is awful!!!!! That Sharon is nothing but a HOT MESS FROM HELL!!!!! And, Alan…let’s not forget those VERY DISTURBING conversations (or whatever) that Sharon keeps having with deceased Cassie (aka The Visiting Ghost). BEYOND CREEPY!!!!! Alan, that is so true about Sharon ignoring Doris (her own mother). Dude…I miss Doris. I wish that Y&R would bring Doris back. Doris is such a WONDERFULLY FEISTY VOICE OF REASON!!!!! Yep.

What a way for Billy Miller’s last days on Y&R! Sick, just sick. no need for this BS. Let the re-cast have the affair. Same as Nick did to sharon, can’t the writers come up with new stories? did anyone see Kelly’s apt. today, redo of Michael & Lauren’s place. Y&R has been #1 soap for 25 yrs and can’t afford new sets, sad. Something needs to change at the top level. come on Y&R listen to your fans
Kelly has her own place? They can’t even give poor Paul an apartment or house again, he and Cricket have to have sex in his office and all their conversations there BUT Kelly gets a place? I hate the people running this show.

It was grief sex. Both regret it. It will mess with Billy’s marriage no doubt, but CW isn’t on contract so I don’t believe this is a long term “affair” like Nick and Phyllis were. Disappointed they even went down that route — I think many grieving parents managed to get through the heartbreak without cheating on their partners to do it. If they killed off a child they could at least come up with a thoughtful and insightful story about grief instead of going for the standard infidelity and or revenge plots they are hatching, but we all knew that is where the story would go sooner or later.
As for Sharon and Nick– could see that coming a mile away– of course they will get back together, of course he will find out about the switch, of course it will blow up in Sharon’s face and she will go all wacky, of course her character will hit a wall and most likely will be written out in 2014.
I have to agree with ya, we knew where this was going. But in the next episode, perhaps there will be a moment of clarity for Billy before going ‘all the way’. And like you, Sharon’s character will hit a wall unless of course the paternity tests are correct. The audience knows that Sharon doctored the results to be the way that she wanted, but did she ever actually look at the actual results? A storyline switch like this would be the only thing to save her character now. Otherwise, yeah, she’ll be gone from the show soon.
God I hope you’re right! I can’t take anymore of stupid crazy Sharon. This character has long reached her expiry date. And Shick again?? You’ve got to be kidding me! MAB killed this couple years ago and they are trying to revive it like this? This is not the Shick of the 90s. It’s anything but. CW isn’t on contract yet but I won’t be surprised if she is at some point. They have big plans for Kelly aka FOJ.
I would like to see Nick and Sharon happy together. But Billy cheating on Victoria? Just proves one-note Victor was right about him. He’ll no longer be a character to care about.

Peter…dude…Kim Zimmer bringing her old GL character of Reva to Y&R would be awesome. Except for 2 problems: (1) Back in the day, on GL, Kim Zimmer and Cynthia Watros didn’t get along all that well (on-screen or off-screen). And, (2) I doubt that KZ would set foot anywhere near the Y&R set/canvas because CW is a supposedly close BFF of that soap-zilla W-I-T-C-H Jill Farren Phelps. But, I think that Kim Zimmer possibly joining Y&R would DEFINITELY give the show A MUCH NEEDED SHOT IN THE ARM!!!!!

Wow whats with all the negative comments on this site. The young and the restless is still number 1 folks, quit the whining. If you dont like the storylines, then dont watch the soap, plain simple. I LOVE cynthia watros as kelly, she is a terrific actress. we should be happy, that we still can watch 4 wonderful soaps right now. General hospital is on fire right now. i love that soap too. lets support the remainder soaps, and quit the drama and whining LOL. If i want drama, i will watch the soaps. Happy New YEAR EVERYONE.

OMFG I am so happy for Nick and Sharon! Their chemistry is still off the charts even after all those years! Sharon Case and Joshua Morrow just work very well together. They’ve been on the show for 20 years and still have a strong fanbase for good reasons. There are other couples on the show who were on Y&R for quite a while but could never compare to Shick. It’s just sad that the power that be won’t give the very loyal Shick fans what they want. They deserve a fair reunion, not that shitty storyline with Summer’s paternity.
When Sharon and Nick are close to remarrying, that is when the truth about Summers paternity comes out. Maybe????

and…. the lowest of the low… Billy and Kelly… tryst and affair.. no character mobility or threading any layers… pain, anguish… hell… angst… because it’s in Billy’s past transgressions… how dare you do this to Victoria! Victoria was doing everything under the sun… to be the ever loving, faithful, supportive, by your side.. wife, lover, partner, equal footing. this is not leaving a lasting memory of the dearly departed actor, Billy Miller… and the biggest lame… reason… kill Delia and leave for the dead the rest of the show.

offsetting… one tried and true… for steering… at the expense of Victoria.. is not featuring… good writing and actors weaving intricate and sublime script

Boring, sad writing, predictable. Have lost all interest in the show since Michael was fired. Everything is such a letdown and fans opinions appear not to matter in the least. My prediction for 2014 is that the cast of Y and R will all be looking for new jobs because the show is going to tank.
I hate to say it but the show is getting a little better. If they could go back to the original background music it would help!
Still very unhappy about Michael Muhney being fired. Do not like Billy with Kelly… grief sex or not. Would love to see Kelly be the one who hit Delia and not Adam. Would love to see Kelly be a crazy person and get carried off. Really disappointed that Sharon and Nick may be getting back together… would rather they be friends and good co-parents. Of course… Dylan will look for his father… he needs some idea of who he really is. This show is no longer number 1 and I wish that GH would get the title… it’s so much better than Y&R is currently.
Kelly and Billy, no surprise there. The new Billy probably doesn’t have the chemistry that Billy Miller had with Victoria, so why not break them up until they can get a feel of what the fans think. Sharon & Nick=Bored to death!

What Y&R doesn’t seem to grasp is it needs to return to boardroom drama!! That was always its bread and butter. The corporate intrigue mixed with romance. We barely see anyone on the job anymore. Careers are just background noise, practiced off screen most of the time. Jack and Jill going after N/C has no spice, no intrigue, no mystery and so static. The rest of the show is abysmal.
None of this crap matters…CBS is just trying to distract attention from the real issue of mistakenly firing Michael Muhney. If you agree, then get busy signing petitions and writing, calling and Tweeting CBS and Sony about their disastrous decision. Boycott CBS, the show, and all their sponsors until they make this right for the people who really count…the viewers and fans.

Mark Consuelos Celebrates One-Year Anniversary as Co-Host of ‘Live’ Alongside Kelly Ripa
Today, April 17th marks a full-year since Mark Consuelos (ex-Mateo, All My Children) took over the co-hosting duties of ‘Live” alongside his wife, and longtime co-host, Kelly Ripa (ex-Hayley, All My Children).
Consuelos replaced Ryan Seacrest who are six seasons decided to be back on the west coast full-time. For Consuelos, now having the opportunity to work off of Ripa as co-hosts has been something of adjustment for him, but viewers have been eating it up.
Live with Kelly and Mark has remained the No. 1 entertainment talk show on television over the past year, growing 3% in average total viewers to 2.23M per episode. It is also the most-watched daytime talk show in the last year in key demos of women 18-49 and women 25-54. All of this, since the real-life marrieds teamed-up.

Speaking with Deadline, Kelly Ripa shared why the two are gelling on-screen, “I do think that there is something very possibly relatable about our relationship. We have disagreements like a normal couple, and we’re not afraid to let them unfold on the air and in front of America, and I think people find a lot of themselves in that.”
Mark weighed in how he has progressed as a host, and what he could improve at, sharing, “I’d like to get better at my interviewing skills. I’d like to get better at reading a teleprompter…I think I’m getting better at throwing to commercial. The other day in the middle of the show as we go to commercial, my sign off was ‘See you guys around.’ I mean, the show wasn’t over. The most obvious thing to say would be, ‘We’ll be back right after this.’ But I just said, ‘See you around.’ So we went to commercial and one of the producers (goes) ‘What was that?’ I don’t know… So for the next few sign offs, as a joke, I’d say ‘See you around.’ We got a kick out of it.”

Meanwhile, Kelly has given huge props to Mark, “I find Mark utterly compelling, really interesting, super funny, and he’s bold in a way like nobody else. He says what’s on his mind. If he’s thinking it, he says it. I’ve done this a long time and oftentimes people will adjust their natural personalities to pander to what they think the audience wants to hear, and Mark will tell people what he thinks, and he doesn’t care if it’s not a popular opinion. It gives him an edginess that I think is really missing in the landscape today. Everybody’s so afraid to say anything, and Mark is unafraid to say exactly what he’s thinking.”

Days Of Our Lives
DAYS Alum Tanner Stine to Appear in ‘Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story’ Starring Nicholas Chavez
Another face familiar to daytime fans has already boarded Ryan Murphy’s limited series, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story which stars General Hospital favorite, Nicholas Chavez (Spencer Cassadine) in the role of Lyle.
Tanner Stine who played Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Steve’s (Stephen Nichols) son, Joey Johnson on Days of our Lives will also appear in the series.
In ‘Monsters’, look for Stine to portray the role of Perry Berman, who was Lyle and Erik’s friend and former tennis coach. In the story, Perry found himself at the epicenter of the murder mystery when he had accepted a phone call from Lyle shortly before the brutal murders of Jose and Kitty Menendez.

Other previously announced castings included: Cooper Koch (who plays Erik), Javier Bardem and Chloë Sevigny as parents Jose and Kitty Menendez, Nathan Lane as Dominick Dunne, Ari Graynor as Leslie Abramson, and Leslie Grossman as Judalon Smyth.

In the series, the two wealthy brothers stand trial for shooting their parents in Beverly Hills, amid claims of self-defense after years of abuse, while prosecutors alleged that greed was the motives for the killing. Lyle and Erik Menendez have been behind bars in California for more than three decades for the 1989 killing of their parents.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story will debut later in 2024 on Netflix.

Soap Vet Christopher Cousins to The Young and the Restless
Looks like Ashley (Eileen Davidson) may get some much needed help, or assistance in shedding light on what caused her to have a massive personality split as her DID condition continues to spiral.
Casting news from The Young and the Restless has veteran actor, Christopher Cousins set to make his debut in the role of Alan Laurent, a psychiatrist and friend of Ashley’s from her time in Paris.
Look for Cousins to appear over multiple episodes beginning with the Tuesday, April 30th episode of the top-rated daytime drama series.

Christopher should look very familiar to soap fans having appeared on Another World, As the World Turns, One Life to Live in his most memorable role as Cain Rogan from 1991-2008, and most recently back in 2020 as Dr. Warren Kirk on General Hospital.
