While Hunter King (Summer Newman) is front and center in her current storyline on The Young and the Restless, she is also set to stat in her first leading role in a motion picture, when her performance in A Girl Like Her bows in theatres nationwide on March 27th!

In the film which takes on the subject of bullying in high schools, Hunter takes on the complex role of Avery Keller, the ringleader of her high school clique.

The performance and the story are sure to get audiences talking and thinking about the subject of bullying in ways they might not have before.

In addition, the film also stars Lexi Ainsworth (Ex-Kristina) of General Hospital, who plays the victim of Avery’s bullying tactics.  The film is raw, emotional, and carries impact.

Watch a trailer featuring Hunter along with Lexi Ainsworth after the jump! Then, let us know what you thought of it, and if you will be checking out the film!

Hope she has no crying scenes…lol

Lol, jimh. You always manage to put a smile on my face. Have you noticed that Summer has gotten so much more ‘adult-like”?
I think she has been handling Austin’s death quite well considering all the mystery surrounding the it. and his cheating heart. It makes it so much worse for her because Abby is her aunt. I never liked the character, now I like Abby even less.WOW! So gross.
It is very natural to blame oneself in many a death case.
Summer is mourning her husband’s death….she’s desperately juggling the pain/love/hate she feels for him right now. She needs time….and her crying spells have been normal under the circumstances……so far! LOL.

Ps. I think Hunter will do a fantastic job….she has really grown as an actress, and she grows on me with each passing episode. Good luck , Hunter!

Please stop having Summer on everyday. Plus why did Chuck Pratt dis Sharon Case on twitter with retweeting haters saying how much Sharon Newman is sluty , That isn’t nice for a head writer to tweet that and agree saying Sharon has slept with every man. Shame on Chuck Pratt. Fans are not happy at all about this . I dont have respect for Chuck Pratt now. Isn’t it enough Eric B ( Victor ) is always attacking Ms Case in interviews !

Yeah, she is grieving her husbands death-if he IS dead…wish Jennifer Love Hewitt could appear as Austins Aunt and that she left that message-i know what you did ect. as a nod to her movie ‘I know What you Did Last Summer’…lol…we went from disaster flicks to dumb teen horror movie…lol

Looks like she is the one making the others cry.

HA! No kidding!

So Hunter King is able to star in a movie and make guest appearances in Primetime, but Billy Miller is denied that in his contract negotiations and Phelps lets him go? Gee, do you see any double standards going on here? What rubbish.

I have to agree that seems unfair and contrary.

well
it looks like an after school PDA movie about bullying mostly for the young audience ??
I like Summer best when she is quiet ..and it seems in this movie she’s a bully so she must have a lot to say lol ..
Hope the movie does well for the girls..
( I have zero interest in a teenage bully movie but I wish them the best..

It looks like it was made in 2013. How long has Phelps been with Y&R?

Maybe it was made before the crackdown on extracurricular work.

TOO LONG!

Julie Haze I agree totally!!!

It’s too bad the studio distributing the picture did not have it released last week for anti-bullying day.

I guess that explains why she colored her hair too.

I wanted to add, it looks like this film has been sitting in the can since at least 2013. They are lucky to get it released.

Good for her, I hope she becomes a movie star and she takes Ryan Peavey with her to Hollywood! [That ones for you Shay!]

She had some practice for the role when YR had her bullying a classmate a couple of years ago.
I’ll watch the film when it comes to cable.

I believe another actress was playing Summer while the bullying occurred.

I wouldn’t be surprised — it wasn’t one of the stories I focused on.

Oh, yeah. Summer did bully a classmate. I am not sure, but did the boy commit suicide in one episode?

He was the kid that Ronan was mentoring. I thought he ended up moving out of town, not committing suicide.

A subject that needs a huge light shed on it!

@ Carry J.
I don’t understand either why TPTB have reduced Sharon to such a low level . She certainly doesn’t deserve it. I think “they” made a big mistake by making her lose it….everyone losing his/her trust in her. Nick is a big jerk. He always said how much he loved her….would understand anything she had to tell him. That’s not love. I have not been fair to Sharon many a time….but, she needs to be redeemed somehow.
I have been rooting for Adam and Sage. But, now? Well, I have very strong misgivings with this improbable relationship. The more I think about it, the more I think Sharon and Adam should re-connect.
I also bet that if Adam went to Sharon with the truth, she would certainly accept him and the truth without missing a beat.

Well if Sharon is indeed going to be paired with Dylan (as it appears she is), then they can only strengthen the character as Steve Burton has become the darling of the show.

I, for one, can only hope that Sharon and Dylan make a cute couple and they finally stop ruining the character.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Next…

She is certainly showing last few weeks she has the potential for a great career beyond daytime

The movie was filmed in late 2012/early 2013 during the bullying storyline on Y&R.

I’m glad Summer is maturing as an actress, especially after the Michael (ex-Adam) fiasco. She took a lot of hits back then from same naysayers. It probably helped her “get into the role” in her upcoming movie. I’m sure it’s not easy to play such a baddie, but at the same time if it helps any teens it’s a good thing.

This movie was filmed long before all that drama. Most indie movies take at least 2 years to be released

Lana…Thanks for info. All in all, Hunter/Summer’s life certainly has been with a lot of emotional drama from film, tv, to her real life.

Does anyone know who the darker haired kid in the trailer is?

I think the little dark haired girl use to play in General hospital. I think she was Alexis daughter. Anybody know? If so she’s a fantastic actress.

It does say she played Kristina on GH…and Kristina is indeed Alexis daughted!

Thank’s Jim. I don’t really like H.K. but I always liked the other actress. Weather she plays a victim or hero she always plays it well.

I feel like I’ve watched this movie on Lifetime. I know the subject matter, which is important has been captured on the small screen, and i’m sure HK will do an excellent job. I enoyed her in White House Down. Wish I cared for Summer. She whines for all occasions. Austin’s death was just the next reason.

I hate how SC’s role has been diminished. It’s time Sharon repaired her relationship with Mariah onscreen.

I agree Faye. I don’t know why they tore Sharon’s role apart but I would like to see her with Dylan and make up with her daughter Mariah. Lately they seem to be catering to the young kids at the cabin. Hopefully once they find out about Austin’s plan we can get back to Michael’s cancer, Nikki’s drinking, Sharon & Dylan and Sharon & Mariah making up, maybe even Kevin & Mariah but I’m sick of Summer & have been for some time now.

Btw, I’m glad February sweeps are over. Perhap we can get back to seeing characters that weren’t invlolved in frontburner storylines, of which none were overly compelling.,
