39th Emmy – Fashion Review

EMMY FASHION REVIEW

ROLL UP THE RED CARPET ON ANOTHER EMMY FASHION REVIEW

By Lauren Koslow
Special Fashion Contributor On-Air On-Soaps 2012 Emmy Fashion Review

The stars were out at the Beverly Hilton on Saturday night for the 39th Annual Daytime Emmy show televised on HLN! First of all, a huge shout out to HLN TV for hosting the event and giving daytime fans a chance to celebrate with their favorite artists & support their favorite shows!

Now on to the important things … the fashion! 🙂 There was a mad crush before the red carpet (nothing quite like being pressed into a bottleneck of bejeweled, silk & satin sheathed, black tied bodies, massing toward a spotlighted, red gauntlet lined with screaming photographers, hungry press & pushy PR reps) However, it did give me a chance to have an up close … VERY CLOSE chat with the ever hot Shawn Christian (Collective sigh) AND as I looked around, to muse on the scarcity of fashion to review! Where was all the fabulous glam that daytime was so famous for providing at award shows?

Of course! Lights on … We LOST two more soap operas since last year, AMC & OLTL. Sad, but it was a reality check. We need to celebrate the continuing dramas we have left! Watch them! Talk about them! Get yourself on social media & spread the word!
Now, with that said … let’s get down to the fashion review and the beautiful women & men in daytime … the highs, the lows, and THE HOTTIES. (Yup! My favorite category too) Overall, the men hit it out of the park this year. Most climbed into their black tie wear and the best did it with distinctive flair. The woman were more of a mixed group … I missed a lot of fashionistas from past years, but the ladies who did it best … REALLY ROCKED!!!!!!!!!! And yes, the category everyone loves to weigh in on … The “Oh No, You Didn’t” category is kind of still around. But this year, there no overwhelmingly BAD choices just Good intentions gone wrong … sometimes … VERY WRONG, so we will just call them “Misses”.

So with that said I took notes at the event (and a few personal pics), poured over the photos and the looks of the night, and came up with The Hits, The Misses, Some Special Awards and much more in On-Air On-Soaps Annual Daytime Emmy Fashion Review below! Take a look at galleries, and then weigh-in with your thoughts too in the comment section!

Enjoy, Lauren

48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards: Photo Gallery and Acceptance Speeches

Last night on the 48th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards on CBS and streamed on Paramount+, viewers watched a hybrid-broadcast for the annual kudofest as the world is coming out of the coronavirus pandemic.

While the acceptance speeches, and presenters were pre-taped along with the previously seen red carpet footage, no one knew who the winners were till last night, because all of the nominees taped a speech.  The virtual ceremony combined remote presentations and remembrances, with host, Sheryl Underwood presiding over the ceremony on a soundstage and introducing presenters to the stage, as well.

Photo: NATAS/CBS

Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS said of the event on Friday night: “We honor the Daytime community for helping us find our way through the turbulence of the pandemic, increased racial unrest and the chaos of the presidential election as America faced one of its most trying years in our history. This evening celebrated not only the best programming and performances of this year but reflected on some of Daytime’s biggest icons that have left an indelible mark on our medium.”

Streaming service Netflix was actually the evening’s big overall winner with seven Emmys. NATAS had called this production and event a “transition” event after shooting much of it on a set, as they look to bring back the live event feel for next year, since the broadcast had already received a two-year commitment from CBS.

While the late Alex Trebek and Larry King were remembered and also won awards posthumously, Regis Philbin was also honored by his longtime co-host, Kathy Lee Gifford.  Then, The Bold and the Beautiful’s Diamond White (Paris) performed a song during the In-Memoriam segment.

You can check out some of the acceptance speeches from Daytime Drama winners: Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy, B&B) Maurice Benard (Sonny, GH), Max Gail (Ex-Mike, GH), Marla Adams (Ex-Dina, Y&R), and Frank Valentini (EP, GH) below our photo gallery of some of the backstage moments that were captured during portions of the pre-taped ceremony.

DAYS Ben & Ciara Wed: What Did You Think of the Nuptials & Its Explosive Aftermath? (PHOTOS)

On Wednesday and Thursday, Days of our Lives delivered the Cin wedding as Ben Weston (Rob Scott Wilson) and Ciara Brady (Victoria Konefal) finally tied-the-knots, and of course, like a juicy, soapy nuptial in Salem, it came with: bumps in the road, a gorgeous ceremony featuring heartfelt vows and … an explosion that rocked the church and detoured the young couple’s happiness.

DAYS rolled out the red carpet for this one complete with many extras, a huge church gathering, quite the wedding dress for Victoria Konefal to wear, and emotional performances by the on-screen bride and groom.

Shortly after Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) pronounced the two, husband and wife, and as Ben is waiting for his bride to begin their lives as newlyweds together, … as she approaches him in the vestibule of the church, a bomb goes off, and Ben is caught in the explosion.

Watch some of the images from the ‘Photo Album’ of Ben and Ciara’s wedding below.

Then, let us know via the comment section below, what you thought of the Cin nuptials? Did you love them? Are you upset about the explosion? And the big question.. who is responsible for planting a bomb in the church? Share your thoughts and theories.
