On General Hospital, Steve Burton (Jason Morgan) and Jane Elliot (Tracy Quartermaine) have been appearing together more and more in scenes together and storylines than in recent years on the ABC soap opera.  The result has been emotional moments built within the rich history of the Quartermaine family between Jason and Tracy.

In 2025, it was Jason who found his mother Monica Quartermaine upstairs in her room passed away, which then led to Jason having to tell Tracy that Monica was gone. This began the beats of the story that played out for weeks and then months as General Hospital paid tribute to the late Leslie Charleson.

Coming up at the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards, Burton is up in the Lead Actor in Daytime Drama Series category and previously reported, Steve revealed on his That’s Awesome podcast with Bradford Anderson that he did not include scenes from Jason at Monica’s funeral in his Emmy-nominated reel. However, he did share without naming specifics, he did include some moments from Monica’s death.

JEFF KOBER DOUBLE EMMY NOMINEE

Now on Sunday August 9, Steve and Bradford welcomed double Emmy nominee, and former co-star Jeff Kober to their show.  Kober is up for a Primetime Emmy in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Duke Ekins in The Pitt. He is also up Outstanding Guest Performer at the Daytime Emmys for his work as Cyrus Renault on GH. Kober previously won a Daytime Emmy for Supporting Actor back in 2022.

Kober was discussing how many takes he may get working on a scene in various projects from movie roles to primetime to General Hospital and one particular note he received from a director on a take was just to do it and be ‘simpler,’ and as an actor to strive for ‘simplicity.’ That prompted Burton to recall the moment Jane Elliot congratulated him on his Daytime Emmy nomination last month.

A TEXT MESSAGE FROM JANE ELLIOT

Steve shared, “Jan was gracious enough to to text me when I got nominated and she said something to the effect of like .’thank you for not chewing the scenery’. Thank you for not chewing it. You know, because it’s easy sometimes when you get that meat (referencing a scene or story material) and you’re like, ‘Here’s my shot,’ and especially in daytime, and you go, ‘This could be my Emmy material,’ OR ‘Here’s your chance to blow it. Here’s your chance to ruin everything.” (Laughs)  It’s just all very interesting.”

Get ready for tomorrow’s August 10 episode of The Young and the Restless when it looks as though Joshua Morrow will be front and center stage in a standalone episode where Nick is going to hit close to rock bottom. Viewers can expect another riveting performance by Morrow is on tap in what could be a harrowing wake-up call for Nick.

The story of Nick’s drug addiction, which occurred after he got into a car accident and broke his leg (thanks to Matt Clark as played by Roger Howarth), and got hooked on Fentanyl pills, also (thanks to Matt Clark), was the perfect storm for the always stand up guy of the Newman family to fall into a drug dependency that has unspooled for months.

It was back in May when Nick and Adam (Mark Grossman) returned from Las Vegas to hunt Matt Clark down, and then came to see their father, Victor Newman (Eric Braeden) to update him on the situation.

Sadly, that was also the moment that Nick had to admit to his dad that he is addicted to Fentanyl. In the scenes, a guilt-ridden and ashamed Nick looked at the father he idolized and broke down. At the end of the scene, Victor got up from his chair and called Nick, “My boy,” and went over to hug him, devastated about Nick’s condition.

During Eric Braeden’s recent interview on the Michael Fairman Channel, he recalled the taping of that scene. “It touched me deeply and it was one of those moments that a father and son don’t want,” explained Braeden. “They’re horrified by that. I think Joshua made an enormous leap in acting in that scene. He showed what he is capable of.”

Braeden was deeply-affected by the moment as well. “It was a very, very touching scene. We had some scenes after that, again, about the same thing,” said Eric. “Now, there’s a whole deeper connection between father and son. Any father would almost have a breakdown knowing that his son is on drugs or his daughter. It was a very well-written scene. I’ll never forget it. ”

Morrow had told us during his livestream interview alongside TV brother, Mark Grossman also on the Michael Fairman Channel, that having to say the dialog to Braeden who is like a second father to him in real life proved difficult. He shared he could barely get the words out of his mouth.

Eric confirmed that he and Joshua, along with Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) are all so close, making the moment all the more heartbreaking to play. “It’s very, very, very true,” shared Braeden, “and the offshoot of those scenes have been equally as good. Joshua’s been wonderful … fantastic.”

Now with Josh Griffith’s (ex-head writer, Y&R) material wrapping up on-screen over the next several weeks, and newly planted Y&R co-head writers Jamey Giddens and Dan O’Connor having started their new gig with the number one daytime drama last week, it will be intriguing to see what the scribes do with Nick, and of course, everyone else on the Genoa City canvas!

The Bold and the Beautiful’s Crew Morrow (Will Spencer) will be seen later this month in Wes Miller’s highly-anticipated courtroom thriller, Wildcards, now set for theatrical release nationwide on August 27, but with a twist. Wildcards recently won the Best Narrative Feature at the Essence Film Festival.

According to Variety, BLacklight and Dark Star Pictures are using the release date to reimagine a theatrical rollout by pairing a screening in select markets (seven cities, seven nights) with a moderated discussion featuring members of the cast and creative team, and in some cities, local community leaders, artists and cultural voices.

As previously reported, Wildcards, follows the trial of Theodore Sterling (Morrow), a privileged young man accused of sexually assaulting a young Black woman. As jurors from different backgrounds clash over the evidence, tensions escalate between determined state prosecutor James Jones and veteran defense attorney Greg Sims.

TOUR STOPS, A CULTURAL EVENT AND MOVIE PREMIERE

The case takes a turn with the arrival of a mysterious “wildcard” witness who claims to know the truth about the night in question. Her connection to the accused raises unsettling questions of bias, credibility and justice.

The ensemble cast features Crew Morrow, plus Leon, Elise Neal, Aries Spears, Stakiah Lynn Washington, Courtney Grace, Samantha Walkes and Robert Catrini.

Each tour stop is designed to be a shared cultural event, with organizers calling it an “evening of storytelling, reflection and audience engagement that extends beyond the final credits.”

In a statement, Wes Miller shared on the upcoming film release and tour stop (cities and dates to be announced): “I’m excited to bring this film and share the stellar performances of the cast. ‘Wildcards’ represents everything I’m passionate about as a filmmaker — creating authentic and meaningful genre entertainment for the culture. For me, this theatrical tour is about taking that directly to our communities, city-by-city, and creating the kind of theatrical experience that reminds people why cinema matters.”

Crew Morrow debuted on The Bold and the Beautiful back in August of 2024. Since that time, he has been front and center in a young love story between his character of Will Spencer and Electra Forrester played by Laneya Grace.

Currently, the duo have broken-up on-screen, but such is the case of star-crossed lovers on the soaps. Morrow is the real-life son of The Young and the Restless long-running cast member Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman).
