GH's Carolyn Hennesy talks Diane/Sonny, "Cougar Town's" Barb, & our Podcast!

To say that Carolyn Hennesy is one busy woman is an understatement!  From playing the hell out of Port Charles legal eagle to the mob, Diane Miller on General Hospital, to her ultimate cougar, Barb in the ABC comedy show, Cougar Town, to her turn as novelist with her series of tween novels based on Pandora, and co-hosting our  monthly On-Air On-Soaps Podcast she is one busy gal.  But, she stopped for a moment for a brand new fun, interesting and irreverent interview with TV Guide Canada’s, Nelson Branco.

From Diane and Sonny’s dysfunctional attorney/client relationship, to playing comedy in the face of all the drama in daytime, to flipping one liners that steal the show on Cougar Town, to laughing it up on the Podcast, Carolyn talks about it all.  Here are a few excerpts!

Hennesy on Diane’s sort of maternal relationship with Sonny Corinthos: “No person in their right mind would stick with someone who drives them completely crazy like Diane has with Sonny unless there was some considerable sense of affection. And you’re right; their relationship is very maternal. Obviously, Diane knows whoever Sonny’s mother is, she didn’t do a tremendous job! God bless her, but she didn’t — no one did with this man! And I think she probably thinks a lot of it isn’t Sonny’s fault. Yes, at a certain point as an adult you have to take responsibility for your actions.”

Hennesy on being comedic relief in the face of dramatic tension in Port Charles:  “The producer and directors know what they have with Diane and they’re really using her effectively [within the canvas]. Now that the young cast is off the beach and not wearing bikinis anymore, I think we’re getting into more serious [fare] as we forge into the winter season. And, of course, as you and everyone knows, Brenda is back — so what does that mean for the Sonny and Claire love [story]? Because, once again, Diane is the Greek chorus: Diane knew exactly what was going to happen. Diane tried to warn Sonny about the consequences of his actions. Yes, he didn’t listen, but Diane is hopeless and will continue to pound him to rethink his actions in a very, very fun way. And then we have Diane’s romance with Max.”

The General Hospital Promo Featuring The Arrival of Kim Delaney

This week’s episodes of General Hospital have mostly been pre-empted due to major league baseball – but late news on Thursday morning has that a new episode will actually air today following the postponement of the Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs game.

So look for an all-new GH that was originally set to air tomorrow to air today.  As to Friday’s GH, if the Marlins and Cubs game is rescheduled for that time, then ABC will air the game instead of the daytime drama series.

Now on to next week’s exciting promo heralding the arrival of daytime favorite Kim Delaney, in her new role rumored to be that of Demi Moore’s former role of Jackie Templeton.

In the promo for the week of October 5th through the 9th, Sonny (Maurice Benard) asks Carly (Laura Wright) what the big secret is as the voice-over says , “Everything is about to change.”  Meanwhile, Valentin (James Patrick Stuart) suggests it’s time to start praying.  So, just what is going on here?  Then, the ending of the spot features Delaney leaving us with more exciting questions then answers.

Soap fans loved Kim as All My Children’s Jenny Gardner early in her career (1981-1984) and have continually followed her path into primetime roles on N.Y.P.D. Blues, Army Wives, Chicago Fire, and CSI: Miami, to name but a few.

Watch the GH promo below, then let us know what you think about what will go down when Kim Delaney shows up on-screen? Comment below.

Nancy Lee Grahn Kicks-Off Her 25th Year as General Hospital’s Alexis; Thanks Fans & Shares: “What a Ride”

She’s one of the best of the best!  And on Saturday, Nancy Lee Grahn acknowledged the start of her 25th year as Alexis Davis on ABC’s General Hospital.

Nancy, who daytime fans first loved on One Life to Live and then Santa Barbara, came to Port Charles and quickly became one of its leading mainstays.

On Twitter, marking the occasion, Nancy thanked her fans with this: “Wow! I start my 25th year on  @generalhospital  today. What a ride. It’s been one of my greatest pleasures to be connected to & supported by such a beautiful, loving, loyal #gh audience. We are and have always been in this together. I hope you can feel my most sincere virtual hug.”

Currently in story, Alexis just lost the new love of her life Neil and on Friday’s episode of GH, Alexis was blamed for his death by Neil’s brother when she tried to attend his memorial service.  Later, she landed at the Floating Rib with Valentin – but when he got into it with Ned and stepped outside, Alexis ordered a drink.  Not a good sign for this recovering alcoholic, and all this came on the heels of Alexis learning she has osteoporosis.

Through the years, story after story, beat after beat, we are lucky to have Nancy on our screens with her consistently riveting and honest performances.

What has been your favorite Alexis storyline through the years?  And … make sure to wish Nancy a ‘happy 25th’ via the comment section below.
