The Kelly Clarkson Show continued its dominance at the recent Daytime Emmy Award picking up another 4 Emmys in the technical categories.  They won two on Friday night for Talk Show and Talk Show Host. Award-winning journalist Connie Chung bestowed the Lifetime Achievement Honor to her husband, legendary television talk show host Maury Povich. She also introduced the In Memoriam segment which featured the late Barbara Walters adding, “Barbara Walters revolutionized the face of Daytime television with her groundbreaking show The View.  Barbara was the creator, the producer, the star, the engine behind, and this was on top of her pioneering career in news and interviews. She was the icon who paved the way for all women in television news, especially me. She mom’d me. And although they would never admit it, she taught the men a thing or two. I can’t fathom she is gone. We remember her and all the others who passed, for their contributions to television.”

The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime. In addition, in recognition of the marked increase in content and entries for children’s programming, last year was the first annual Children’s & Family Emmy Awards, with relevant categories separating from the Daytime Emmys into their own competition and ceremony.
