51st Annual Daytime Emmy Nominations Set to Be Announced
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences revealed on Wednesday via X, that this year’s 51st annual Daytime Emmy Nominations are set to be announced in full on Friday, April 19th at 12 pm ET/9 am PT.
However, four of the top award category nominations will be revealed on Thursday, April 18th across four entertainment news programs to kick things off.
Those include this Thursday episodes of Access Hollywood, E! News, Entertainment Tonight and Extra. Over the past few years, NATAS has often let the syndicated entertainment news program handle the duties of revealing the top actor and actress in a daytime drama series, but we shall see which categories the shows unveil this year.

As previously announced, the 51st annual Daytime Emmy Awards will be presented in ceremonies on Friday night, June 7th on CBS (8 – 10 PM, ET/delayed PT) on the CBS Television Network, and available to stream live and on-demand on Paramount+*.
The awards will be back at The Bonaventure hotel in downtown Los Angeles, where (the delayed due to the actors and writers strike) 50th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held back in December of 2023.
Look for the full nominations to be posted right here at Michael Fairman TV and you can follow along on Friday on the Daytime Emmys social platforms as well.

The Daytime Emmy Awards have recognized outstanding achievement in television programming and crafts since 1974, honoring work in a variety of categories, including daytime dramas, talk shows, instructional programming, hosting, culinary, and legal/courtroom programs. In 2021, NATAS and the Television Academy jointly announced plans to realign the Daytime and Primetime Emmy Awards to be organized by content genre, as opposed to program airtime.
The 51st Daytime Emmy Nominations will honor the work and achievement from the calendar year of 2023.
So, who would you like to see in the running for gold when the Daytime Emmy nominations in the key acting and show categories are revealed? Share your thoughts below.

Rooting for Tanner Novlan as John Finnegan on B&B this year! He was robbed of a nomination last year for the Sheila/Finn hostage arc. Hopefully, they will compensate this year and give him a well-deserved nomination for the work he did during Sinn’s separation and the myriad confrontations with Liam, Deacon, and Sheila.”
I hope General Hospital gets alot of winners
Okay – time to guess the nominees. Picking 2 from GH for each category (remember this is for performances on calendar year 2023):
LEAD ACTOR
Maurice Benard (Sonny)
Wally Kurth (Ned)
Comment: Ned went from lead in 2023 to MIA most of 2024. DZ/Dante should submit in this category.
LEAD ACTRESS
Finola Hughes (Anna)
Cynthia Watros (Nina)
Comment: Watros made the most of a poor storyline. Laura Wright’s best stuff happened in January so look for her nom next year. Genie should be here – but won’t.
SUP ACTOR
Jeff Kober (Cyrus)
Jon Lindstrom (Kevin/Ryan)
Comment: Lindstrom has 4 noms without a win. With Ryan’s death looking final – this may be his last good opportunity. NAC/Spencer likely won’t submit as he seems to be moving on from the soap world.
SUP ACTRESS
Kathleen Gati (Liesl)
Vernee Watson (Stella)
Comment: Liesl’s grief from Britt’s demise combined with the Greenland stuff should finally get her a nod. As Sonya Eddy was posthumously nominated last year, will show submit Jackie Zeaman this year?
GUEST
Rena Sofer (Lois)
Charles Mesure (Brennan)
Comment
As she first reappeared in October, Sofer’s episode count might be low enough for submission in Guest. Mesure had presence the moment he walked into Kelly’s.
Shame the younger performer category was eliminated as Scarlett Fernandez was outstanding as Charlotte.
I saw Wally’s submission and he was really good. I think he is going to get nominated.
Arianne Zuker, Melody Thomas Scott & Michelle Stafford for Lead Actress. Really hoping Tanner Novlen gets nominated for Supporting Actor along with Mark Grossman. Eric Martsolf, Peter Bergman and hopefully Eric Braeden for Lead Actor. Courtney Hope and Annika Noelle for Supporting Actress
Not happy with the Lead Actor nominations. Nobody from GH, Scott Clifton and Thorsten Kaye? Where is Mark Grossman and Greg Vaughan? Chad Duell and Nicholas Chavez? Ddid they all submit in supporting? At least there is no Peter Bergman this year.
Chad has always submitted in supporting. Not sure Chavez submitted as he’s apparently ready to leave the soap world behind.

ABC Announces ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Texas Spin-Off Gets Straight-to-Series Order
In a surprise move, coming a week after ABC unveiled its 2026-2027 fall television schedule, Grey’s Anatomy is getting a new spinoff co-created by the original series’ creator/executive producer Shonda Rhimes.
The new untitled medical drama will be written and executive produced by Rhimes and Grey’s Anatomy showrunner/executive producer Meg Marinis under the Shondaland and 20th Television umbrella. In addition, long-running ‘Grey’s’ star Ellen Pompeo will also serve as an EP of the spinoff.
The upcoming new series will debut midseason in 2027. This will be the first of Grey’s franchise not set in urban city or West Coast locale. According to Deadline, the new “edgy drama is about a team at a rural West Texas medical center — the last chance for care before miles of nowhere.”

In a statement, Marinis shared, “I am incredibly excited to expand the Grey’s Anatomy universe. This opportunity will bring new characters and stories to life that will embody the same heart, emotion and connection audiences have loved from Grey’s for more than two decades — all set in my home state of Texas. I am so grateful to Shonda Rhimes for creating this dynamic world and feel so fortunate that I get to be a part of it.”
A NEW GROUP OF DOCTORS IN RURAL TEXAS
The Texas spinoff will feature a a new group of doctors, but there will be some connection to the OG Grey’s Anatomy and possibly to Debbie Allen’s character of Catherine Fox. The amount of episodes in the series order has not yet been determined. Previous Grey’s Anatomy spinoffs were the defunct Station 19 and Private Practice.
Previously, Grey’s Anatomy was renewed for its upcoming 23rd season while the amount of episodes is unclear. The last two seasons the series produced 18 episodes.
It should also be noted, Grey’s Anatomy and the Texas spinoff would likely share a time period, which requires limited-run orders for both with Grey’s premiering in the fall, followed by the spinoff on the midseason programming block.
So, what do you think about a Texas spinoff of Grey’s Anatomy coming in 2027? Who would you like to see from daytime or primetime as some of the featured roles as new doctors? Put on your casting directors hat and let us know via the comment section below.
