Monday on Entertainment Tonight, the second set of nominations for the 53rd annual Daytime Emmy Awards were announced which included the highly-coveted Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actress and Outstanding Daytime Talk Series.

ET followed suit after Extra announced the nominees, as previously reported, in the Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series – Actor and Outstanding Daytime Talk Host.

Now, five leading ladies of the soaps are vying for the gold for Lead Actress and the category marked the first-ever nominations for CBS daytime’s Beyond the Gates when two actresses made the final cut. Only General Hospital is not represented among the actresses this year after Nancy Lee Grahn (Alexis Davis) took home the trophy last year.

THE FIVE LEADING LADIES OF THE SOAPS ARE …

The 2026 Lead Actress nominees are: Stacy Haiduk (Kristen DiMera), Days of Our Lives, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree), Beyond the Gates, Michelle Stafford (Phyllis Summers), The Young and the Restless, Heather Tom (Katie Logan), The Bold and the Beautiful, and Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Beyond the Gates.

This marks the first Daytime Emmy nominations for Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie. In addition, this marks the first-time in her career that Stacy Haiduk had received a Lead Actress nod after two Supporting Actress nominations.

Meanwhile, Michelle Stafford had previously won 3 Emmys – 2 for Lead Actress and 1 for Supporting, but this recognition makes it her 11th overall nomination.

Heather Tom currently is tied for the most all-time Daytime Emmy wins with One Life to Live alum and General Hospital guest star, Erika Slezak. The B&B star has 19 nominations throughout her career.

Stacy Haiduk, aka Patty Williams and Kristin Dimera, has done an impeccable job in both roles. She was the antagonist between Diane and Jack. I am so glad that story is winding down. I can only stomach so much drama with any crazy. I thank Y&R for doing so. I am waiting for Kristen to get her due once again when she is discovered to be Sophia’s murderer.

this i s an interesting group for sure ! and watch all the Stafford haters but i have to say she is always amazing on yandr this could be the time for Tamara Tunie ! sorry to say but im not disappointed that no one from the overrated GH isn’t nominated because the GH fans feel that every category should be filled with no other soap but GH Congrats to the nominees and congrats to newcomer Beyond the Gates

it’s so obvious that bloc-voting happened. 8 out of 10 of the lead nominees are from CBS! Where are the AMAZING General Hospital actresses? Not one of them made it but once again they nominate Heather “crocodile tears” Tom, who has already won 6 Emmys, and Michelle Stafford – yet again! Super happy for Tamara Tunie to finally be nominated but she has no chance – she doesn’t overact! She is subtle and subtle doesn’t win. Very disappointed. Jane Elliot, Katelyn MacMullen, Amanda Setton, Kelly Thiebaud, Nancy Lee Grahn, Cynthia Watros, Maura West – GH has the best lead actresses on daytime and not one of them gets nominated!

Thank goodness no GH actress is nominated. So sick of that show winning every fucking year.

The show is good along with the actors and actress that’s why it wins every year

Me thinks Michael was kidding.

That comment wasn’t from this Michael.

But if it were, you’d be kidding! Come to think of it, I don’t recall you using F bombs to make a point. So yeah, a different Michael.

I try not to drop F bombs on public websites, but I can see what you would think it was me. There are about five Michael’s that regularly participate on this forum. I’ll have to start using my last initial to distinguish it was me.

GH is THAT GOOD!

MacMullen, Setton, and Thiebaud are all supporting. If you compare material from 2024 to 2025, NLG didn’t have as much. Watros could’ve snuck in, but it was kind of a down year for West.

I watch Y&R, B&B and GH. I’m sorry, but the actresses that keep winning from B&B just don’t compare to the actresses from GH. I mean Jacqueline MacInnes won several times! Really?? I just don’t see it. Plus the story lines on B&B just don’t give them much to work with.

Tamara Tunie. Heather Thom and Karla Mosley, I can see. But there are other actresses who should have been nominated. I hope Tricia Mann-Grant, Ambyr Michelle and Alexa Havin are nominated for Best Supporting actress.

HUGE congratulations to Karla Mosley and Tamara Tunie⏤both of whom have now received not only their first-ever Daytime Emmy Award nominations but also become the first of the acting company from Beyond the Gates to earn nominations. I hope they are the first of many to come. This is their award to win. Rooting for them both!

Agreed. Tamara Tunie needs to win this. Her acting in stellar in every scene. I’m also thrilled for Karla. And a big NO to Michelle Stafford. I like Heather Tom, but she’s won enough and can’t compare to Tamara Tunie’s cancer storyline. I am hoping for many more nominations for BTG.

Tunie was not nominated for the cancer storyline. Every storyline nominated is from 2025, and the majority of the cancer storyline has played out in 2026. She likely submitted scenes concerning the Articulettes reunion and the reveal about Barbara’s suicide, which were still outstanding materials to submit.

Not surprised that GH didn’t get a nomination in this category. Genie Francis had a few great episodes, but there’s an argument to be made that Laura has become a supporting character.

Stafford? Again? Ugh!

Right. I’ve never been a fan of Stafford’s acting. She tends to mugs it up while chewing up the scenery. She tends to avoid the power of pauses, subtlety and shades of nuance in favor of giving over the top performances replete with histrionics. She leaves me cold. And Christian Le Blanc nominated as best leading actor? Don’t get me wrong, he is damn talented but he was given very little material even for a best supporting actor let alone best lead actor. The daytime Emmys are meaningless now. Sad. They used to mean something.

GH ladies are ALL so terrific that a nomination doesn’t come close to the awards they all deserve! Love you gals!!!

Heather or Michelle are awesome choices

It’s time for one of the ladies from Beyond The Gates to win.

I dont think so. The show sucks

Heather Thom and Michelle Stafford have enough Emmy’s.

With the year that GH has had, it is shocking not one actress was nominated. But, I am sure a few didn’t submit. To me, it was Jane Elliott’s to lose if she submitted. Her scenes during Monica’s death and the aftermath with Erika Slezak as her screen partner will be long remembered.

To me, it was Jane Elliott’s to lose if she submitted.

Jane Elliot (one T, not two) is not a fan of the Daytime Emmys and has gone on record several times about not submitting herself on purpose.

Wow! I forgot about that.

It’s asinine that the Emmys for work done in 2025 won’t be given out until almost the end of 2026.

I’m disappointed that no one from GH broke through in this category, with the second to none group of the most talented actresses in daytime that they have. But Nancy Lee Grahn won last year, deservedly so, so I can’t be angry about it. Even though I don’t watch it, I’d be happy to see some fresh names win, with either of the talented ladies from BTG over the same old, same old with Tom and Stafford.

For the people mentioning Jane Elliot from GH, she is well known to not submit her name for the Emmys. The last time she did was 2014, and she had to be talked into it by the GH producers. There is no question she would most definitely be deserving of a nomination any year, especially 2025 for the work with Erika Slezak.. If she did choose to submit herself this year, I would think it would be the Supporting Actress category, which we’ll find out on Tues.

Bold and beautiful Heather tom best of everything

Ther no gh actress on the Bonnie for the emmys

When does the award show broadcast?

Per the article:

The 53rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards are slated for October 30th in Hollywood, California.

It will again be viewable online on the Emmys app and their website.

I hope this is a wake up call to GH. The writing stinks lately. Not happy with the story lines and how long they take to play out.
Just mind boggling how the view is nominated for anything other than being cancelled. I don’t k ow anyone that watches that show anymore.

View is disgusting

First of all this is for work done in 2025. The writing was phenomenal and the performances were amazing. GH had a ton of potential lead actress nominees who deserved to be nominated. CBS bloc-voted, they have 3 shows and they voted for their own shows. I don’t know which GH actresses submitted in lead but surely if any of them did – Jane Elliot, Genie Francis, Nancy Lee Grahn, Finola Hughes, Brook Kerr, KATELYN MacMULLEN (how on earth did she not get a nomination?), Cynthia Watros, Maura West, Laura Wright – they all delivered amazing performances consistently and had Emmy worthy reels to submit (some may have submitted in the Supporting Actress category). It’s wrong. It’s B&B that had terrible writing in 2025.

Slap in the face that GH actresses are not included in best actresses

Andre

On Beyond the Gates, Andre Richardson’s (Sean Freeman) “happily” married life to Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley) is about to be tested like never before on upcoming episodes of the CBS soap opera the week of August 17-21.

After the shocking reveal on the Friday, August 14 cliffhanger, viewers learned that the person who was sending Andre ominous text messages is none other than The Impaler herself, Heather Armstrong (Ashley Jones). Clearly from the latest promo for the action at the Bowman hotel and in and around Fairmont Crest (see below), Andre knows Heather quite well, as she makes moves on him.

While all this is going down, Dani tries to diffuse the Dupree family for thinking there is anything going on between her and her ex-husband, Bill Hamilton (Timon Kyle Durrett). Dani’s behavior over Bill being in the hospital has been of someone who is still deeply in love with the guy (specially because of her very public outbursts) and as viewers know, she recently had sex with her ex in the elevator at the country club during a tornado!

HEATHER ARMSTRONG IS ON THE HUNT FOR ANDRE

Poor Andre has no idea about the elevator liaison, and recently visited Bill in his hospital room to tell him to stay away from his wife, when and if he gets out of his hospital bed! But now, the tables may be turned, if Heather gets her claws into Andre.

Tamara Tunie Opens Up About ‘Beyond the Gates’ Co-Star Clifton Davis Emmy Snub, and Her ‘Bittersweet’ Nomination Upon Scott Bryce’s Death

Clifton Davis, Tamara Tunie, Scott Bryce

Beyond the Gates scored 15 Daytime Emmy nominations, the best-ever showing for a series entering the Daytime Emmy race in history for the first time. Among those 15 nominations came the news of the well-deserved nod for Tamara Tunie as Outstanding Lead Actress for her role of Anita Williams Dupree.

Tunie is nominated in the Lead Actress category along with her TV daughter, Karla Mosley (Dani Dupree). For both actresses, this marks their first Daytime Emmy nominations.

However, one of the main actors on the show, Clifton Davis, who plays Anita’s husband, Vernon Dupree, did not make the list for the Lead Actor finalists.

CLIFTON DAVIS TOOK LEAD ACTOR OMISSION ‘LIKE A CHAMP’

In a talk with Gold Derby, Tunie addressed the omission by sharing, awards are a “dice roll from year to year.” She shared she hopes in 2027 Davis will get his due. Tamara offered up Clifton’s reaction to not being amongst the cast going for gold on October 30, the night of the Daytime Emmys in Hollywood.

“There were several other people who were overlooked, not just Clifton, and it’s all with a grain of salt, and it’s not a reflection on the work in any way, shape, or form,” the veteran actress explained. “Oftentimes, as we know in this business, there are other considerations and things that happen. Some votes may cancel out other votes, and it just doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t diminish that he’s a legend, and he always will be. He took it like a champ. He’s been doing this long enough to understand that it doesn’t reflect the work at all.”

JOY MIXED WITH SORROW AFTER THE PASSING OF AS THE WORLD TURNS’ SCOTT BRYCE

In addition to the joy of scoring her long overdue Emmy nomination, Tunie also experienced incredible sorrow. The night before the Daytime Emmy nominations were revealed for Lead Actress on Monday, July 13, came the news that Tamara’s longtime friend and As the World Turns co-star, Scott Bryce, has lost his battle with cancer at the age of 68.

It was gut-punch to Tamara’s soul. She recalled, “He was my brother. I was so heartbroken and low, and then the announcement came that I was nominated, and it lifted my spirits tremendously. At the same time, it was bittersweet and poignant, because I know that Scotty would have been the first one to pick up the phone and call me.”

Bryce appeared as Craig Montgomery on the CBS soap opera from 1982–1991, 1993–1994, and 2007–2008. Tamara Tunie played Jessica Griffin from 1987 to February 1995, 1999 -2007, and one final appearance in 2009.

To honor her beloved friend, while Tunie was not able to attend Scott’s Celebration of Life service in Connecticut on July 25, she did write a beautiful tribute that was read during the memorial to the attendees.

TAMARA TUNIE’S DAYTIME-EMMY NOMINATED REEL SCENE SELECTIONS

Tamara also shared what scenes were on her nominated reel which includes: “Anita doing a rap, Anita being her own female impersonator, and Anita in what I call my Michael Corleone moment, when Dani has shot up the wedding and she comes into the house and I say, ‘Is this my daughter I see before me? How dare you!'”

In addition, Anita’s cancer journey is also part of the reel. Tunie explained how she was able to play the story which suc poignancy. “I have loved ones who have been on that cancer journey. Some survived, some did not. I was able to pull a lot of emotional information because of my experiences with loved ones.”

So, do you feel Clifton Davis was a definite Lead Actor Daytime Emmy snub? Are you rooting for Tamara to pick up the gold statuette given the heartbreaking loss of Scott Bryce and the scenes on her nominated reel? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.
