GENERAL HOSPITAL Preview: After Tracy Takes Incriminating Photos of Finn; It All Points to Him Losing Custody of Violet

Photo: ABC

It’s clear that General Hospital is headed towards really taking Finn (Michael Easton) all the way down to the depths of despair, when his family and friends, while trying to do the right thing and protect his daughter, Violet (Jophielle Love), from any harm, are also setting the guy up for a real punch to the gut.

Thus far, Finn started drinking heavily after his father Gregory passed away in the middle of the night. Now, it looks like his daughter will be taken away from him.

In story on the Friday’s June 19th episode, after Finn cuts his hand accidentally on broken glass, he ends up passing out on the floor from excessive drinking. Violet comes upon her dad, and ends up calling Tracy (Jane Elli0t). When Tracy shows up, she calls the paramedics, who inform her that the issue with Finn is he drank too much.

Once Violet goes over to Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase’s (Josh Swickard), Tracy goes back to Finn’s and takes photos on her phone of Finn passed out, a bottle of booze, the glass and the entire scenario.

So, between Brook Lynn, Chase and Tracy, it looks like Finn will not stand a chance at keeping custody of Violet, unless one of them sticks up for the good doc? In true soap-fashion, it would seem most likely, a court will grant temporary custody to Brook Lynn and Chase, setting up some kind of emotional full custody battle down the line? Stay tuned.

I am 100% on Tracy, BLQ and Chase’s side. Finn is in no condition to keep Violet after he decided to drink that much knowing Violet would arrive home any moment. Poor Violet shouldn’t have found her father in that condition. Finn has been a jerk to everyone. He wants to blame others for his behavior, but he has no one to blame but himself. I was surprised that some people thought Liz was wrong for speaking up about Finn’s drinking. Finn is no victim and regardless if he is hurting, that is no excuse to mistreat others. He is the bad guy, lashing out at everyone who has tried to help him, but by far he has treated Liz the worst.
I hope Tracy will straighten him out on Monday, but I’m sure he will push back even against her. I dont think he will change his mind when she tells him about Violet finding him passed out on the floor and how scared she was thinking he was dead.
I know it’s too much to ask of a young child, especially one that loves her father as much as she does, but I would love to see Violet tell Finn he is wrong and she doesn’t want to be near him until he stops drinking and hurting people.
Easton has done a fantastic job the last few weeks. But I wouldn’t shed a tear if they send Finn packing and bring Easton back as John McBain.

A Devil has mixed feelings about this storyline. It’s sad to see poor little Violet have to deal with this, right after losing her grandpa. How much can a kid take anyway?

On the other horn, Jane Elliot should get some Emmy reel material out of this.

Yes, Finn is grieving, but it doesn’t give him the right to put his daughter in harms way or to be a jerk to those who love him and also employ him.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Monday or Tuesday is Easton’s final episode. Violet will wind up living in the mansion like apparently half of Port Charles

Finn screwed the pooch big time and put himself on the wrong side of Tracy. Watch out.

I beg to differ. She’s his best friend right now, if not she would have just taken Violet and left Finn right where he was, in a drunken stupor. Guess he’ll learn what tough love is, if it doesn’t kill him!

Agreed! Tracy is showing her “tough love”

Yes that’s what I was trying to say while trying to be funny. “Watch out Finn now you’ve got to answer to Tracy.” Tracy had been cautiously reserving judgment but now she’s been pulled in whether she wants to be or not. Finn screwed up to the point where Tracy’s offering to use her resources for a custody battle and it won’t be pretty for him the more he digs his heels in. She didn’t ask to be in this position and he dragged her there. He has himself to thank for that. Tracy has been one of my favorite characters for 40+ years. Love her.

Easton leaving as Finn
What remains to be seen is if he returns as someone else. John McBain did used to work for the FBI.

In a show titled “General Hospital”, there’s currently more actors under contract playing law enforcement than doctors and nurses. Not counting Finn, there’s two doctors (Portia & TJ) and one nurse (Elizabeth).

On the law enforcement side, there’s 5 – Anna, Dante, Chase, Dex and Jagger.

McBain will not be returning to GH.

You know for sure?

This is just a rumor that he’s leaving.

GH is finally must see tv again, after a slow start for EK and PM as head writers their material is finally moving at a good pace, and Finn spiral is so heart breaking and wow Finn is really one mean addict, he’s been really bad with chase, liz, Alexis and now tracy its been riveting to say the least, and I know that Patrick M is now out as head writer, hope Elizabeth Korte can keep the material good, and one more thing, can these still in mourning OLTL fans stop already with dreaming GH will send former OLTL actors packing and have them return as their OLTL characters, that ship has already sailed, Michael Easton Finn has a brother and daughter on this show, and his character is a Doctor, look at the mess they made with Roger H. killing him off as Franco to only return as a character nobody care for, let it be already, John Mcbain as popular as the character is has no place in Port Charles right now, I rather the show bring back Hayden back and really turn this story up a notch more.

Oh yeah, bring back this mother who deserted her child, having no idea what kind of a father he’d be to her daughter, with an excuse if Violet asked why she did it, Im sure she would be told ” it was for your own good”., honey.

I believe Finn will continue to drink, inspite of being told his child will be taken

It depends on which is stronger, his addiction or his love for his child. Today showed his will power when he slammed those two bottles of Vodka against the wall. Everyone is ready to kill off this character or run him out of town, I don’t get it. He’s making poor choices now but what about everything he’s done for others, including putting up with Liz. Let’s give this character a break, instead of throwing him to the wolves.

Don’t mean to trample on anyone’s opinion, but alcoholism is a disease. Finn is an addict. That doesn’t make it right, but I don’t think an addict is capable of making good choices when they’re in the throes of using. I agree that Violet is better off being removed from the apartment, I don’t think the alcohol addiction would have allowed Finn to think about her while he was drunk. (If that makes any sense.)

It seems that they are accelerating this story to get ME off the canvas asap. Michael is knocking this story out of the park. I often find Finn boring, but not with this story. Why does it take the writers having to create an exit story to finally write something dramatic for an actor to do that will show their acting chops?

Bring back his stepmother I think she can straighten him out and you never know they may rekindle

And why would that be a good thing?

I assumed Tracy was taking these pictures as a wake-up call for Finn, not for a custody case.

I was thinking the same thing. I bet she try’s.

This storyline aside, I’m bemoaning the de-fanging of Tracy Quartermaine. One of the most delightfully devious anti-heroes in the history of Port Charles has basically become Lila now, offering a shoulder to Gregory, Chase, Brook Lynn, Cody, Finn, etc., etc., etc.! Jane Elliott is a marvelous performer, and we need to put some of the deviousness back in Tracy!

I love any and all versions of Tracy and I believe she still has some fangs there. I feel she’s showing some fangs protecting little Violet, as she should. She has too much Edward in her DNA to ever go full Lila. 🙂

In a show where the heroes are criminals and murderers (Sonny, Jason, etc.), Finn is being treated like the worst of them and shown no mercy at all. It is starting to look like they just need to get rid of one or two highly paid actors to make room for the high-profile actors returning to the show.

Michael Easton and Jophielle Love Share Heartfelt Messages Following Airing of Last ‘General Hospital’ Scenes Together

There wasn’t a dry eye in the house after General Hospital viewers watched the Thursday June 27th episode. In it, Finn (Michael Easton) comes to say goodbye to his daughter Violet (Jophielle Love), who is now in the temporary custody of his brother Chase (Josh Swickard), before he heads out to rehab.

The episode also would be Michael Easton’s last with the ABC soap opera as Finn was written-off the canvas. Fans of the soap, watched the heartbreaking Finn and Violet scenes, and following its airing, both Love and Easton shared touching posts on their Instagram accounts accompanied by photos.

Easton shared, “This is the hardest goodbye of all for me. The first picture was taken right after Violet and Finn’s last goodbye. After they said cut, Jophielle Love and I immediately found each other and we hung on like we didn’t want it to end. The last video was taken between scenes on the very first day we met and I remember it like yesterday. Jophielle you are pure magic and you are going to do amazing things in this life. Go forward with rainbows in your heart and know that I will never forget you.”

Love (through the writing by her mom) shared: “How do I say good bye ? Michael and Jophielle have been working together on General Hospital for 5 years now ! Over 100 episodes… Today’s scenes were an absolute heartbreak . Jophielle doesn’t lose sight of the possibility of her parents coming back into her GH life … This scene was way too familiar from one she experienced on her first few months on set as her tv mother went through what felt like the same door … saying good bye … and never returning to this day! Poor Violet lost everyone… Jophielle was genuinely very sad … Her chemistry with Michael on set was amazing from day one , as she always insisted to fix his hair before each take as a five years old. Now she is 10 … and … tears were pouring down. It was a very very hard day on set and everyone was tearing up … She managed to get through it all like a pro , …. It was … very emotional and also amazing. Like a grown up scene.”

In a personal note from Love’s mother it read, “Michael … I speak as a mom today who has been there on set every step of the way , being so thankful for you and for Rebecca Budig’s incredible love and instant connection with Jophielle. There is something to be said about tv families… and even more on a show like General Hospital, where these families have such a real bound as they are part of a long lasting legacy … Like Jophielle does … I really hope you get to come back …. Never say never … we love you Michael and we thank you for everything. See you soon 😘”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Finn and Violet Share an Emotional Goodbye Before He Leaves for Rehab

Thursday’s June 27th episode of General Hospital featured one of the saddest and most heartbreaking goodbye scenes in recent memory. In story, Finn (Michael Easton) comes to see his young daughter, Violet (Jophielle Love), who is now staying at the Quartermaines, to tell her why he has to leave her and head to rehab to get help for his drinking problem.

In real life, this marked Michael Easton’s final GH episode in the role of Hamilton Finn. The way the exit was positioned in story, Finn has to go away for three months to rehab. Just how the show will explain his continued absence remains to be seen.

Easton’s final scenes were extremely emotional, and we are sure that the audience at home was reduced to tears and reaching for the hankies throughout. When Finn arrives to see Violet, the two share a hug while she’s concerned about his bandaged hand. Violet tells her dad she wants to go home with him, but he explains he is sick and needs to go away on his own to get help to stop drinking.

With tears streaming down his face, Finn tells Violet that he doesn’t want to leave her, but he has to go and if he doesn’t he won’t get better. He can’t let what happened the other night (when she found him passed out on the floor and bleeding) ever happen again. Violet cries that he thought he was was dead like her Grandpa.

Violet says she can help Finn, as she becomes more and more desperate to not be separated from her father, whom she loves so dear. In tears, Finn tells his daughter, they can take care of each other, and when he is better he can be there for her the way a father is supposed to be.

As Brook Lynn (Amanda Setton) and Chase (Josh Swickard) look on with tears streaming down their faces. Finn and Violet hug one last time before he leaves. As he walks out with Chase to drive him to rehab, a sad Violet looks on.

At the conclusion of the episode, Easton shares his final scenes with Josh Swickard. As brothers Finn and Chase, the two are there for each other in the darkest of times. Remember, they are still grieving the loss of their father. Finn thanks Chase for allowing him to say goodbye to Violet. Chase promises to take good care of her. However, Chase warns Finn to not to take any shortcuts on his way to sobriety and to always think of Violet’s wellbeing.

It is apparent, the brothers don’t want to say goodbye, but on the count of three, Finn leaves Chase’s car and walks through the door of the rehab facility, while Chase in tears beats the steering wheel before drives away.
