ABC Daytime's Brian Frons on how AMC & OLTL casts were informed of cancellation!

So just how did the cancellation of One Life to Live and All My Children go down this morning? According to an article in EW.com, ABC Daytime President, Brian Frons told the cast and crew of AMC personally before the announcement went out to the press some 15 minutes later. (The cast and crew of the New York-based OLTL was video linked at the same time).
Unlike when CBS announced the demise of Guiding Light and As the World Turns, Frons said it was important to immediately reveal how the soaps will be replaced because “otherwise we will appear like we have no plan. It’s important for our affiliates. If we make the decision to take off two shows we value, then they need to know how we will replace them.”
The daytime executive admitted it wasn’t easy to make the cancellation call. “It’s very sad for me. I came here because I wanted to work on the ABC soaps. I worked in CBS and NBC daytime and I always envied the quality and people who ABC had. I never imagined when I came in August of 2002 that I’d be the guy to take two of the shows off.”
Frons also stated that it was too early to tell if General Hospital will absorb some of the actors from AMC or OLTL. So stay tuned down the road for that one!

‘All My Children’ Movie Writers for Lifetime Revealed: Ron Carlivati, Jamey Giddens and Leo Richardson

This week began and as reported with a spotlight article on Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos and how their production entity, Milojo, has been teeing up the All My Children reboot with Lifetime.
The L.A. Times featured the married couple, co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark, and former All My Children cast members (where they met and fell in love) about their plans to bring two All My Children movies to Lifetime and how they are working with the Agnes Nixon estate to make it come to fruition,
On Wednesday, it was revealed by Daytime Confidential, that All My Children reboot producer, Andrew Stearn handpicked none other than Ron Carlivati (ex-head writer, One Life to Live, General Hospital and Days of our Lives) and Jamey Giddens (who is the new co-head writer of The Young and the Restless, following his tenures on the writing teams of Beyond the Gates and Days of Our Lives), as the two scribes who will bring the first of two of Kelly and Mark’s All My Children movies to the page.

RON CARLIVATI AND JAMEY GIDDENS CONFIRM THEIR BOARDING THE ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIE PROJECT
The second installment is said to be written by primetime writer Leo Richardson whose credits include: Star, Katy Keene and more recently the Penn Badgley (ex-Phillip Chancellor IV, The Young and the Restless) starring series, You.
Richardson also wrote for three years on the U.K.’s long-running soap, EastEnders. All My Children revival fans will recall Richardson’s name was attached as the writer for the first incarnation of the All My Children movies, entitled, Pine Valley.
Ron Carlivati took to X and confirmed he is indeed boarding the All My Children movie project. Carlivati shared, “So excited to share this news! Thanks to Andrew Stearn, Kelly Ripa, Mark Consuelos, Albert Bianchini and the Agnes Nixon estate for entrusting Jamey Giddens and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime! Stay tuned!”

Jamey Giddens confirmed DC’s announcement by taking to his account on X and expressing, “I’ve been booked and busy in 2026. Thanks to Andrew Stearn, the Agnes Nixon estate, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos for entrusting Ron Carlivati, and me with the first of two planned All My Children movies for Lifetime!”
Some fans seemed to question how Giddens could be writing for the first All My Children movie at Lifetime, when he is the new co-head writer at The Young and the Restless with Dan O’Connor. Jamey answered that head on via X and explained, “We turned in our All My Children script months ago. My sole focus as of this past Monday, is Genoa City, Wisconsin! #YR”
ERICA KANE, MARIA SANTOS AND HAYLEY AND MATEO SANTOS TO APPEAR IN THE ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIE REVIVAL?
In the planned stories, Susan Lucci’s Erica Kane and Eva LaRue’s Maria Santos will be two characters whose lives we will get to see for the first time since the series was canceled by ABC back in 2011 after 41 years on the air. As well, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos confirmed they will make brief appearances on-screen; one could assume as Hayley and Mateo Santos.
“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos to the LA Times. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”
So, what do you think of Ron Carlivati and Jamey Giddens getting nod to write the All My Children movie #1 script and Leo Richardson #2? Weigh-in via the comment section below.

‘All My Children’ Revival Updates: Lifetime EVP Speaks on Why Proposed Movies are Great Fit, Mark Consuelos Wants To ‘Give Back’ to Fans

The All My Children revival via movies at Lifetime is still in the works from former series stars and marrieds, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, through their production company, Milojo.
The co-hosts of Live with Kelly and Mark were featured this week in a Los Angeles Times article which detailed their efforts to bring some of the citizens of Pine Valley back to your screens.
As previously reported, and reaffirmed by the L.A. Times, the All My Children movies will be set in the present day and focus on what beloved characters such as Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) and Maria Santos Gray (Eva LaRue) are doing now. In addition, Kelly Ripa confirmed that she and Mark Consuelos will also appear on screen briefly most likely appearing in their signature soap roles as Hayley and Mateo Santos.

ALL MY CHILDREN MOVIES BRING NOSTALGIA THAT CAN BE MADE TO FEEL NEW AGAIN
Elaine Frontain Bryant, executive vice president and head of programming for A&E, Lifetime, and Lifetime Movie Network said of the All My Children reboot, “Lifetime is always interested in shows that kind of tap into a powerful nostalgia that can be made fresh for today’s audience. There’s a whole generation of women that have missed these stories and these characters.”
As for working with Kelly and Mark on the Lifetime movie versions of the soap, “They’re exactly the kind of partners you want at a brand,” expressed Bryant. “They’re trusted voices because every day they’re talking to their audience, which, a lot of times, is our audience. They bring a real credibility and have an authentic point of view. You meet Kelly and Mark and kind of what you see is what you get, and I think they bring that same authenticity to their development standards.”
Albert Bianchini, executive producer for Milojo, says he knows All My Children is so wildly popular with the fans of daytime. That was punctuated when seeing it in person, and how the energy was off the charts back in January of 2025 when Kelly participated along with Susan Lucci, former head writer, Lorraine Broderick and casting director, Judy Blye Wilson in a conversation with Andy Cohen at the 92nd Street Y in New York City.

“I’ve never seen a crowd like that in my life. People were lined up around the block, recalled the Bianchini. “Everyone wanted to know, ‘When is (All My Children) coming back? We want more.’ We got to see that in real life and Kelly got to feel it in real life, and it made so much sense. I just know that the minute it gets out in the world, people will want more and more and more. There’s just a love there.”
Kelly Ripa added that they are, “working closely with the estate of Agnes Nixon (the legendary creator of All My Children). She recalled, “She (Agnes) was so far ahead of her time. She covered topics that weren’t being covered. It was extraordinary the audiences that the show drew, and she served them real stories that were affecting Americans across the country but weren’t necessarily being represented anywhere.”
“It’d be wonderful to give the fans something that they’ve been yearning for so many years,” shared Mark Consuelos. “All My Children gave me my family. I met my wife there. It gave me my start in the business. It gave us so much. It would be a dream to be able to give back.”
THE CANCELLATION AND STOPS AND STARTS OF ALL MY CHILDREN REBOOTS
All My Children aired on ABC from 1970 to 2011. It got a second chance at life when Prospect Park resurrected the show and brought it to The OnLine Network and Hulu for one season in 2013.
Recently, the series made a return through the estate of Agnes Nixon and is streaming internationally on BEONDTV and through their partnership with PlutoTV Canada with episodes starting in 1995. Fans hope original episodes will some day soon be available in the U.S. as well, but that could prove more difficult since ABC owns the rights to the episodes stateside.
Now 13 years later, while there is no word yet on a definitive production start date to the two movies at Lifetime, all the people involved seemed determined to make it come to life.
So, what do you think of the executive vice-president of Lifetime and LMN being enthusiastic about Kelly and Mark’s All My Children movie revivals? Are you wanting to see this come to fruition? Kelly and Mark seem to have made this a very high priority. Do you hope that by 2027 we might be able to get this to the finish the line and into production? Weigh-in via the comment section.

‘All My Children’ Episodes to Stream on Pluto TV Canada
Starting on May 1, All My Children fans in Canada will be able to see classic episodes of the beloved former ABC soap opera when they stream on Pluto TV Canada.
Pluto TV picked-up the All My Children Channel that the Nixon family has created in partnership with BEONDTV +. The show which aired for 41 years on ABC and ended on the network in 2011, had so many memorable storylines and characters; the least of which is the enduring run of Erica Kane played by soap icon, Susan Lucci.
As previously reported, starting with episodes from the year 1995, which was the 25th anniversary of the soap. Pluto TV Canada viewers will be able to catch 8 episodes on repeat per day. With the success of the venture, the Nixons are hopeful that they will bring viewers many more years of the show to come.

Sarah Nixon, producer, shared with Michael Fairman TV exclusively, “We are thrilled that Pluto TV has launched All My Children in Canada! Let’s hope the engagement from our incredibly loyal fans across the border will encourage ABC to bring it to the U.S.! We share what Aggie (Agnes Nixon) always felt, that it is the enthusiasm and love from the fans that has kept this legacy beloved and relevant – to this day!”
In addition, 0ne week ago, during Susan Lucci’s visit to Los Angeles promoting her book La Lucci, she was joined by her former Pine Valley castmates, Rebecca Budig (ex-Greenlee, AMC, now Taylor, B&B) and Eva LaRue (ex-Maria, AMC) and the trio posed for a pic. At that time, LaRue shared via Instagram, “NEW All My Children channel streaming classic episodes 24/7 now on Pluto TV Canada! Fingers crossed to watch soon on Pluto US.”
That was also confirmed this week by TV Watercooler’s Jeevan Brar who took to X and expressed, “The All My Children channel begins streaming this Friday, May 1 on Pluto TV Canada.
So, Canadian viewers, excited about Pluto TV’s All My Children channel? United States fans, hopeful from Sarah’s message that perhaps soon, we can see the beloved soap once again as well? Share your thoughts in the comment section below.

I think this gentleman made a huge career mistake with using his authority to cancel two extremely well liked soaps, Such talent on both programs. I think AMC and OLTL are both liked sooooooooooo much more then the other remaining soaps. These shows are watched by thousands of woman who enjoyed tuning in. They are the Many Fans who followed the storylines for years. I think its so wrong and it is a mistake he has made cancelling these thriving well liked shows. There are alot of unhappy ABC viewers due to his call.
This is the worst thing thats ever happened for two great soaps to go off the air! It makes no darn sense to me at all . Plus a million people have watched them thru out the years. They will be soooooooooooo missed it’s not even funny. Who cares about talk shows Yuck. I am really pissed to say the least.
I am 65 and will be supporting a boycott an all of my friends have all said they will boycott
I think he (FRONS) ruined daytime. Talk shows are boring. I have been watching soaps for years. I will never watch ABC anymore for anything. I love AMC, OLTL, and GH, but I will have to give up GH in support of the other actors that just lost their jobs. HOW CAN ABC DO THIS. EVERY SOAP FAN SHOULD BOYCOTT ABC TO SHOW SUPPORT FOR THE ACTORS AND ACTRESSES FROM OUR FAVORITE SOAPS.
He’s full of it, it was not difficult for him to make his decision, every interview he’s given contradicts the other. Get OWN to take our soaps
http://www.tinyurl.com/soapsonOWN
I feel sorry for all of those people who are losing their jobs. It’s a sad moment in TV history that two classic shows are being swept under the rug for reality shows.
I agree this happened a year ago when ABC/OLTL let 2 great Actors go without a good reason this would be Brett Claywell & Scott Evans better known as Kyle & Oliver ‘KISH’ they were given the coldest treatment that I have ever seen ! Brett found out in person while Scott got word from His Twitter Account like ABC where did Your standards go ! Brett & Scott had one of the most true to Life Lovestories for the 2009/2010 season ! America ABC just repeated its self We fought hard for Brett & Scott for 5 Months without sucesss One Life To Live will go down in history as a diverse Daytime Soap created by the great Agnes Nixon ‘OLTL ‘(1968-2011 RIP) . I wish the Cast & Crew all the best Guys thanks bringing Us all the great storylines for the past 43 years lol !
For longtime viewers who have spent a lifetime watching soaps, Frons has sent a clear message…we are not in the coveted 18-34 age bracket, and therefore, we don’t matter. No matter what a viewers age, I cannot imagine ANY soap viewer tuning into the ridiculous new shows he plans to air. Earth to Frons…your coveted demo should be at work at that time of day…and you won’t be getting soap viewers. Millions of us have been loyal fans for years…and this is how our loyality is rewarded. You will need viewers to get sponsers, won’t you? Ummm…good luck with that! Don’t worry, Frons, shouldn’t be too long before YOUR position is cancelled.
He is full of bologna!!! He doesn’t want to pay his actors so he chooses to canceled two beloved shows and replace it with crap that no one is going to watch. I find it ludicrous that he would say that he admired ABC daytime so much in one sentence and then decimate 2/3 of their shows in the next. He basically has said he came over there and then destroyed their soaps… I think he is the one that should be going because after only several years under his leadership two soaps that have been on more than 30 years have now fallen by the wayside. I think the problem with the programing is neither the soaps or the tremendous talent on them but the talentless hack that is destroying them. I hope he sleeps well lining his pockets with his 32 pieces of silver after kissing the cheeks of everyone on AMC and OLTL and then sending them out to their slaughter. This is certainly not what Jesus would do. Shame on Frons, shame on ABC, and shame on Disney for supporting this… I don’t know what the happiest place on Earth is but I can assure you this isn’t it!!!
SCUM BAG!!!
VALUE ??? YOU DON’T VALUE ANYTHING BUT YOUR OWN OPINION BRIAN FRONS……
AND REPLACE ….YOU CAN’T REPLACE AMC AND OLTL WITH MORE OF WHAT’S ALREADY ON TELEVISION.
NO DAYTIME DRAMA – I’D RATHER GO OUTSIDE AND PLAY ……BECAUSE I HAVE MY LIFE TO LIVE WITH ALL MY CHILDREN !!
…AND THEY’RE ALL GROWN !!
REALLY SHORT SIGHT ON YOUR PART MR.FRONS.
Brian Frons is full of it – he does not care about the soaps…SERIAL KILLER
Yes he is a total arroganat idiot. I am also sick and tired of another justification for this, ” that this what viewers between the ages of 18 and 49 want”. So I guess anyone over 49 should be playing bingo. Well sorry to alert this arrogant man but the boomers have stuck with these shows for 40 plus years and we also are very adaptable to change and viable members of the human race as well. Oh and we buy products , hold jobs or are retired, WELL WE ALL KNOW WHERE THE FOOD CHANNEL IS IF THE SENILE OLD BATS FORGET HOW TO BOIL WATER. The word value doesn’t exisit in this guys vocabulary and whoever he answers too shame on them. Sorry I am very upset over this slap in the face that this man has aimed at the boomers. This makes me so sick. Thank you.
Go to HELL Frons
Dinah pretty much sums it all up in her 4 words.
Really? Really? I believe my granddaughter is 19 and an avid fan of OLTL. If she can’t watch at 1pm on abc she watches online the next day. I’ve been watching since the 70’s. Not contemporary? I believe we just went through a whole story line about bullying. Most women working? ABC, I hope you are not beleiving your own hype on the news. Unemployment is at an all time high. Seriously, has it not occured to you that your Neilson Ratings are obsolete. There are so many ways to watch these shows now, ie DVR, Hulu, Abc.com, Soapnet etc. You have got to be kidding if you believe people need a bigger dose of reality. People are looking for a “Calgon take me away” moment in their day. I am offended that my opinion does not count because I do not meet the requirements of your targeted demographic. Perhaps you should investigate the meaning of Loyalty and its value. Very disappointed in this very bad judgement call.
Every thing Frons touches dies! As of Monday’s show I for one will never watch GH again, but will stick to the others to the very end as I have for over 30 years. GH is dead to me, but OLTL and AMC will live forever. And they way they went about this was wrong. I’m thinking of tuning out ABC entirely
The only way to make Frons lose his job is to launch boycotts of all the advertiser products that air during the replacement shows. It is all about money. If sponsers pull from the shows, they go off the air. I don’t endorse watching these horrible sounding shows, but we have to monitor who is advertising and write them that you will no longer buy their products. NOt watching ABC alone will not do anything.
Shame on Brian Frons. Two more talk shows…can we tolerate any more? There are enough shows highlighting cooking and losing weight. Enough! So many excellent actors and writers will now be out of work. OLTL has taken on such pertinent storylines, currently the issue of school bullying. I will not be watching ABC’s proposed new shows. I hope they are huge failures for ABC and, especially, for Brian Frons.
its all about money, the actors want to much and talk shows dont ,
Brian Frons is a a dick !!!!!!!! Brian Frons has ruined ABC by taking off AMC and OLTI. I will now boycott all things ABC/ DISNEY !!!
ABC now stands for ANOTHER BAD CHOICE !!!!!!
Brian Frons has ruined ABC by taking off AMC and OLTI. I will now boycott all things ABC/ DISNEY !!!
ABC now stands for ANOTHER BAD CHOICE !!!!!!
ABC is losing a longtime viewer. I will not support any of the new shows that ABC puts in place of my 2 favorite soaps.
Thanks Brian Frons for ruining my day !!!!!
The new plan sucks. I’d rather watch grass grow. I can’t believe they think those type of shows will be better. I think it’s lazyness. Where has all the creativity gone. I have great ideas how the soaps could make money. But now I shall get healthier because I will be outside watching the grass grow instead of denting the couch.
ABC Frons is Stupid! who wants to watch shows on food all day,not me
I’ll find another network to watch, hopefully one will pick up AMC & OLTL
One life to live is one of my favorite shows, I look forward to see what will happen next,
Not what to cook or eat! ABC should be ashamed, you always cancel really great shows. I want be watchin you in daytime any longer, once my shows are gone!!!
Go Away Frons, leave OLTL on the air , get rid of Frons!
I will not watch ABC daytime any longer, once my show is take off.
Brian Frons and everyone at ABC/Disney has made a BAD decision by canceling these two legacy soap operas. I will no longer watch anything on the ABC network, nor will I patronize anything Disney. I encourage others to do the same.
Mr. Frons, you do not know what viewers want if you are willing to take off two of the most popular daytime shows on ABC. What are you thinking? Do you realize how many people watch these shows ? I guess not, and you are the president of ABC I think after this big disaster they will have to rethink that job title I hope you know that taking those two soaps off will cause you to ruin ABC those were the only decent programs on! and them saying goodbye to help fans get over it is not going to work I predict that ABC will go under after a year of your boring TV programming, a food show and a health show, what a joke!!!!!!!!!
He doesn’t know what he is doing. He has ruined daytime TV on ABC. I am truly sorry for all the actors and crew who are losing there jobs. i don’t know what will happen to to them when there is hardly any other soaps to go to. If this is a sign of the times…I hate it!
Brian Frons, are you out of your mind??????? I’ve been watching both AMC and OLTL for over 40 years!!! I haven’t missed an episode since I was a young single woman until now as a disabled senior. What are you thinking?? These shows have staying power and loyal fans like myself and a million others. Your planned replacements , “The Chew'” and “The Revolution” will be a flash in the pan. They’ll come and go…UNlike AMC aand OLTL. I’ll NEVER watch ABC again…you can take that to the bank!! But if you go ahead with this ridiculous cancellation, I’ll look forward to seeing you in the unemployment line…and it will serve you right!
Brian Frons you will need witness protection. Who blew you to put health show on was it MIchelle Obama. Someone needs to cancel you f ing ass.
Health show as well? We got Dr. Oz for that and Dr Phil if we are a little out of sorts. Of course if we have any legal or paternity matters pending we have the judges and Maury. Maybe he should try those infomercial for the Hair Club for men as new sponsors for his new shows because he is going to need a little more fuzz on that empty skull when he is out in the cold. Sad case of visionary blindness.
Mr.Frons
Not only are you about to put six hundred talented people from two shows out of work …but journalists from affiliated magazines will also lose their jobs
Nice ripple affect Mr.Frons -NICE !!
If in your infinite short -sightedness you can cancel two long running daytime dramas with the stroke of a pen……is there not some faction in the industry that can – CANCEL YOU !!!
Frons is an idiot! I will not watch abc at all anymore. I hate cooking shows and talk shows. Frons you made a big mistake and I hope abc fires you!
I hope abc loses ratings and frons loses his job. I will not watch abc at all anymore. I hate cooking shows and talk shows. Frons you made a big mistake and I hope abc fires you.
Not only is it terrible what this is doing to us, the faithful audience, but I think it is outrageous what you have done to all the people that uprooted their lives to move to California to keep All My Children alive! I have watched from Day One and feel like my family is dying! If money means more than peoples lives than it is surely a horrible world we live in. I hope you can live with yourself for all the destruction you have caused.
I cannot believe that they want amc and oltl off the air. These shows are one of the longest shows that has ever been on television. I am only 23years old and been watching abc soaps since I was 13 years old. One life to live is apart of my life I make sure I am home in time from school to watch my soaps two o clock is my story time everyone has to be quiet. There is enough cooking shows they have their own channels, I do not want to see dr. Oz daughter on t.v or not another health show. I guarantee that abc will lose viewers I am one of the viewers that will not watch daytime t.v I hate this decision that is being made KEEP SOAPS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!
brian frons got to be the dumbest man on the plant. how can this idoit think that a cooking show and a talk show can replace amc and oltl? he screwed over some many people with this decision. since he has been running abc he has gotten port charles and now amc and oltl cancelled. and yet he says he cares about the soaps. please if he cared he would have done his best to make sure to keep the shows alive; but the second some thing didn’t go his way he was already ready to throw in the towel. and the worst part of this is; he lied to the actors on both shows saying that they had nothing to worry about, when all along he had other shows waiting in the wings. and the way that he told them of the actors on both shows about him cancelling their shows were so messed up and disrespectful. i really hope that he gets fired for this; because not only did he screw over the actors and the people behind the scenes, he screwed over the fans as well. i really, really hope you get fired for this brian frons you no good snake.
Brian Frons should be shot at sunrise. I hope you can sleep at night knowing you took off two good soaps and put so many people out of work! You should be ashamed of yourself Mr. Frons!!!!!
I feel very bad about all of this. 41 years of enjoyment and now it has to end? Just like that? Why doesn’t Mr. Frons set up a poll online and ask the viewers what they want? Is he afraid to?
what have you lost your mind… People do not want reality tv in the daytime you are 20 yrs alittle late… by the way I’m a neilsen rating person and once the shows goes off I will not be watching any thing to do with abc they are something I have watched since I was in school and have always looked forward to once I retired…. so just know abc sucks and now you are doomed.. and maybe you will be fired soon,,,
I just can’t see how talk shows or cooking shows will bring ABC more viewers the OLTL or AMC…I am so disappointed in the network for doing this. I know that I will NOT be watching the replacement shows that for sure!!! This is not a way to save money because the network will loose viewers for this. I have never watched the other soaps on CBS but I guess I will start now…
from the time i heard about oltl and amc i havent looke at abc since its not worth my time anymore
i hope that every sponsor pulls out of abc like hoover did it wouldnt break my heart if they went off the air there is nothing on this network worth watching frons wants to make a joke out of it he is the better shows are on cbs and fox i think abc needs to get rid of frons and put everything the way it was from the rumor i read general hospital is the next to go in 2 months this is frons way or running things i think he needs run out of the business and i can bet that he doesn’t even watch this network either
ABC = BAD DECISION!!! NO SOAPS = NO DAYTIME TV!!
OLTL and AMC deserve to stay on the air!! Daytime television actors/actresses are the best in the business!!! SAVE DAYTIME TV SOAPS!!!
I think they have lost their minds !!!! WE DON’t want another food or talk show!!!! I will boycott abc too!!! JERKS!!!!!!!I
Brian Frons is so full of sh*t! This is what he’s intended for quite some time. The man has no respect for the genre or it’s fans. I don’t think his boss, Anne Sweeney does either. He has been systematically destroying the ABC soaps for the last several years. I have always believed he was purposefully sabotaging them with the intent of blaming the fans for the lack of viewership. Industry people are only now confirming what we the fans have been suspecting for quite some time now. ABC didn’t like how the fans reacted to Rebecca Herbst being fired? I don’t think they are going to like what comes of this latest ill-conceived decison either. I was already boycotting all of ABC except the soaps after they fired Rebecca Herbst. Soap opera fans are a passionate and loyal bunch…this is not like canceling a prime-time show that airs 12 or so episodes in a season. These are shows that have been on for decades, five days a week and until recently never or rarely a rerun. These shows have encompassed generations of viewers that have passed on their legacy to the next generation. It’s deeply personal. Brian Frons may finally have bitten off more than he can “Chew”! (Pun intended!)
They say they pulled the soaps because the people that use to watch are now working during the day. Yes, they are but they are taping the shows so they can view them when they come home. They are still watching. DVR is the big thing now a lot of shows won’t be seen live but will be seen later on dvrs. So don’t judge that people aren’t interested in watching soaps anymore.
If you do t already know this, facebook has grouped to join protesting the cancellation of AMC and OLTL. Email addresses of sponsors to write are supplied. Get on facebook… Fight the good fight!!! Write to NBC they may be considering adopting our beloved soaps! Speak up through the tool at your hands… The Internet!!! Go people.. Get to typing!!!
My heart is still sick after hearing the news about All My Children. I’ve watched that show since I was born and feel like the actors are part of my family. My great-grandmother watched the show. My mother, mother-in-law, coworkers and friends watch this show. It’s a conversation starter that unites viewers across generations, economic and even gender differences. I DVR it everyday and watch it to unwind every night. Please save AMC!!! A half hour time slot or less shows a week could work. Aren’t those possibilities that need to be considered before ending a forty-year tradition?
Do we really need The Chew? If I wanted to watch Mario Batali run around in his orange crocs I would turn on Food Network. Is ABC kidding? I wouldn’t even think about recording anything like that to watch. With Oprah gone and my favorite show All My Children, as well as another classic like OLTL, what is left for ABC? ABC was always my home station because of AMC and GH. When Kelly Ripa joined Regis and Kelly that was what started me watching that show on the days I was home – yet another AMC introduction when we fell in love with Kelly Ripa playing Haley. Could you imagine Dancing With the Stars without the ABC soap celebrities that have brought the show success since day one. They are moving to a second rate station. NBC will become my home station. No Pine Valley? Come on!!!
Susan Lucci is right the fans are on fire and then some. What in the heck do these so called execs have in their heads? It is beyond the scope of reason and I am tired of hearing about production costs. They needed to merely have some decent writers who could give out good material. Now it is all coming to an end and you see massive improvements in some of the characters, It is coming to an end an now we get Cady and Thorsten Kaye back. I hope I am not out of line but this really sucks! Also OLTL, though I was in and out of that one I started to watch more after Kaye left AMC. This is awful just plain awful.
I am so upset with this decision. Too many viewers watch these soaps. I will stop watching ABC in support of the soaps they day OLTL is cancelled!
I agree there is one thing we already have food networks too and i agree what you are saying there is one thing OLTL might be moving to NBC with DOOL i don’t know ABC is doing that or not they are selfish what they are doing but they can not cancel soapnet
It needs to be more entertaining!!
BRIAN FRONS SHOULD RETIRE … SUSAN LUCCI along with other actors of both soap operas should buy ABC from him & show that old JERK how a business should be run . I can read the future & that man will REGRET taking those soaps off he air , and when that day comes ( and it will be soon after he cancels AMC / OLTL ) let me assure you all that he will pay for letting those GREAT ACTORS without a job . BRIAN , I hope you read this , & I am not the real ALLISON DUBOIS (PSYCHIC) BUT I am GOOD . To all the actors of every soap operas , I love you all & remember this : HIS TIME WILL COME .
The Chew that sounds like the dumbest show ever. I will be going out and watching other channels and hopefully watching oltl and amc on the internet. Please Prospect Park get these shows on a cable channel I will even pay like HBO. How many other people would pay? Let Prospect Park know.
So Sad To See These Shows Go. Boomers have money we spend alot I brought a whoe set of Villeroy and Boch French Garden dishes just like Vicki’s. Maureen
Having a hard time figuring out why you would cancel AMC with all of the BAD shows out there, you take off a much loved and respected soap opera that so many Moms and daughters love to watch together. I work full time as a nutritionist but DVR this show everyday so my daughter and I can watch together. It is so much a part of our life. This is actually painful and I don’t think the show the Chew or any other show is going to come close to replacing it now or ever. I think you made a very bad choice and I think that will become evident. You need to think about putting this show back on in another slot perhaps even if its in the middle of the night, the fans will DVR it and keep right on watching. Please reconsider.
