ABC Previews General Hospital’s Halloween Episode

Fight Night will definitely have an impact on the lives of the citizens of Port Charles, on the upcoming Thursday, October 29th episode of the ABC daytime drama series.

Announced by ABC today, along with primetime’s Dancing with the Stars, The Conners, Supermarket Sweep, and America’s Funniest Home Videos, GH is having some ghoulish goings-on for the trick or treat holiday.

According to the GH preview: “As an impending storm approaches Port Charles, Trina and Joss decide to meet up with Cameron and Dev at Charlies before heading off to a Halloween party for the night. Unbeknownst to them, Julian notices the kids are being watched a little too closely by a masked individual. Uneasy and unable to shake the feeling that something is off, Julian confronts the man. Meanwhile, Carly is stunned when Cyrus brings a familiar acquaintance to dinner at the Metro Court. And elsewhere, Finn and Anna’s plans to take Violet trick-or-treating are hampered when Finn is called back to GH, leaving Anna alone, unaware that a particularly evil threat awaits her.”

So, excited to see what goes down on Halloween on GH? Comment below.

GH likes to repeat certain gimmicks constantly. Previously we have seen thought to be dead people like AJ & Nikolas show up in a mask and mingle around the crowd for a while before their identity is confirmed. Now the logical return for somebody we all know ain’t dead would be Morgan Corinthos. But Morgan following the teenagers around wouldn’t make much sense. Yeah Joss is his little sister, but still not likely. That being the case, it’s probably Taggart. We already knew he wasn’t dead, but so far the only citizens of Port Charles who know this are Jordan,… Read more »

BWAA! for sure it’s la low-key spooky drama
No- Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees. lol

1– Is Taggart in custom out to see/watch his daughter.
2– Anna = Alex back = BOO0!
3- Morgan appears ..

GH is always very predictable..
Never a surprise/Shocker 🙁

Nothing is a surprise because of spoilers! Think how it was back in the 90s and earlier. You didn’t read about everything that is going to happen.

You could be right about Taggart watching but it could also be Nelle getting ready for her funeral, thanks to Nina. So sick of these Soap Opera coroners that can’t identify a body correctly. I’ve seen enough on other shows that a body has so many ways to be identified, why can’t they get it right here?

Hi Violet – Not being dead has become a mainstay of soaps.. Even if cremated they will return lol Soap characters are immortal. I’m enjoying the soap Dark Shadows running the series on Decades network.. The dead coming alive in Dark Shadows is cool .. lol Yup- without a doubt Nelle will be back. Nina is looking like a nut-case- she is messed up in the head. Nelle is one of those characters that will never die even if dead. Morgan is back the dead, also. 000oh Morgans grave where many went to cry out a gave scene even tho… Read more »

SuOOO Hi, I remember when Dark Shadows was on so many years ago but I had so many Soaps to watch all day, I couldn’t seem to fit it in. I am talking about the original one in 1966, had to look it up. I didn’t know there were subsequent shows and a movie after that. Back in the first one was an actor David Selby whom I fell in love with when he went on to play in Falcon Crest which had so many wonderful actors. Iam sure you are too young to know this and the old D.S.… Read more »

I was actually expecting “Nelle” to be cremated by the “Pennsylvania side of the river” authorities because nobody from Port Charles ever turned up to identify/claim the body. I can’t believe there’s actually a body now buried in that tiny little Port Charles cemetery and nobody has bothered to check whether or not it was actually Nelle (obviously it isn’t.) Chase is supposed to be this super smart cop, who actually knew Nelle longer than anybody else in town. You would think he would have wanted to make damned sure she was dead. Guess he’s too preoccupied with his ex-girlfriend,… Read more »

Every day in Port Charles is Halloween. It’s just awful. Poor Kim Delaney, helping to prop up Laura Wright’s boyfriend. UGH.

I love your post, DMRR–so true!! Bring in the Pagliacci—that’s how theatrical GH has become lately—Leoncavallo’s Opera to perfection… in a sad way!!
The Boyfriend—Hmmmm. Nothing endearing about this character. He’s a prop—arms and legs and no personality. Just a caricature.
Speaking of creepy? Cyrus is no gift, either— one would think that in this day and age—and, more pointedly, considering he is on national TV, this actor would see a dentist. WOW!!—that’s one major thing which completely turns a body off.

Evil threat for Anna? She is her own evil threat by being in perpetual denial, where Peter is concerned. She’s actually harboring a criminal. I have intimated, time and again, that Alex is Peter’s mother. I suspect Dimitri is the father, not Cesar. What could possibly wake GH up from its stupor, would be a far-fetched plot—-that is, age Charlotte ( named after meany aunt Charlotte Devane) and make her Anna’s and Valentin’s daughter—He idolized Anna back in the day, after-all. Yes, sounds nuts—but, it’s Halloween and crazier stories have lived in PC for decades. TPTB will think of something.… Read more »

ABC’s Vicki Dummer & William Burton Among Executive Exits In Disney TV Cuts; Both Oversaw Aspects Of General Hospital

In a major reshuffling of the executive infrastructure at Disney/ABC, several lay-offs were handed-down including to longtime ABC executive Vicki Dummer who most recently was Head of Current Series Programming, ABC Entertainment,

In her position, Dummer oversaw the creative aspects from the network level for General Hospital.  Vicki had been with the company for over 24 years and was a noted longtime fan of the show in interviews she had given during her tenure.

Back in September of 2018, William Burton was given the position of SVP and Head Of Daytime, Sports and Syndicated Development/Production for ABC Entertainment.  He had been in charge of the the business operations for General Hospital at a network level, while Dummer continued to handle the creative.  However today, Burton was also let-go.

The exits come as ABC and Hulu have consolidated original content under Craig Erwich, and 20th Television and Touchstone TV under Karey Burke.

The layoffs are believed to have effected 12 staff members mostly at the executive level.

Deadline broke the news and then updated their story later today.

Just who and what department in the new structuring will take over General Hospital remains to be seen.  We will keep you posted once any additional news or announcements are made.

So, what do you think of the exits of Vicki Dummer and William Burton? Comment below.

Emme Rylan On Her Final GH Scenes: “Laying There Emotionless While My Amazing Costars Cried Over My Comatose Body Was One of the Hardest Acting Challenges EVER!”

If you watched Tuesday’s episode of General Hospital, you witnessed an emotional and heartbreaking episode where friends, family, and loved ones had to say their goodbyes to Lulu Spencer (Emme Rylan) before she is transferred to a long-term care facility to be looked after following her brain injuries and surgery which left her in a coma.

This was to mark the last scenes of Emme Rylan who has exited the series after being let-go.  In story, viewers watched as Nikolas (Marcus Coloma), Maxie (Kirsten Storms), Dante (Dominic Zamprogna), Tracy (Jane Elliot) and a grief-stricken Laura (Genie Francis) sat by Lulu’s hospital bedside telling her they will be waiting for her to wake up, as the agonize over the gravity of the situation.

On Wednesday, Rylan took to social media to tell her fans how difficult it was for her to tape those scenes, when she expressed: “Laying there emotionless while my amazing costars cried over my comatose body was one of the hardest acting challenges EVER! They don’t exactly have you practice that in acting school (Thank u to everyone that noticed).”

In response former GH star Ryan Paevey (Ex-Nathan) who also went through a similar on-screen situation when his character was killed-off tweeted back to Em: “I 100% agree and understand, haha.”

The episode gave  Genie Francis a fantastic palette to play and reminded everyone why she is one of the greatest icons of the genre.

So, what did you think of Emme’s statement on trying to get through those difficult scenes as played by her co-stars?  Share your thoughts below.

Daytime Emmys To Remain Virtual For Upcoming 2021 Ceremony

With an uncertain situation of when live events can get back to normal, or as they have been in the past prior to the coronavirus pandemic, The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) announced today that it plans on keeping next year’s Daytime Emmys award show virtual, to allow for the 2022 awards cycle to stay on track.

In fact, all of NATAS’s award ceremonies including: the News and Documentary Emmys, Technology & Engineering Emmys and the Sports Emmys will also remain virtual next year.

The Daytime Emmys became the first major award show to air a virtual presentation that others followed back in late June of this year and aired on CBS.

In a statement, NATAS chairman and CEO Adam Sharp expressed on the organization’s decision:“The current timetables articulated by manufacturers project mass availability of vaccinations for the entire U.S. population by mid-summer 2021, potentially permitting a return to more traditional in-person ceremonies later in the fall. However, we have determined that delaying our 2021 events to possibly allow for a compressed calendar of in-person Emmy ceremonies late in the year would result in unacceptable delays to our awards cycle for 2022. Instead, we have decided to remain “virtual” in the format of our ceremonies for 2021 while relying on a substantially pre-COVID awards calendar. In so doing, we believe we will be best-positioned to return to a full, on-time, traditional schedule of in-person ceremonies in 2022.

The dates currently under consideration for the 48th annual Daytime Emmys which would be via two or three nights of presentations are: a combination of dates from Friday, June 25, Saturday, July 17 and/or Sunday, July 18.

For those entering the competition, the entry deadline is February, 17, 2021 with  the nominations not to come till May or June.

So, what do you think about the Daytime Emmys going virtual again for 2021? Comment below.
