A play on words and a heartfelt goodbye and ‘thank you’ were on tap over the Labor Day holiday weekend, as actor Adam J. Harrington (John “Jagger” Cates) officially confirmed his departure from General Hospital.

As GH viewers saw at the end of the Friday, August 30th episode, John “Jagger” Cates was shot twice by Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard), and while today’s September 2nd episode of the ABC soap opera was rebroadcast, the pick-up of the shooting and the aftermath will begin with tomorrow’s September 3rd installment of the iconic series.

Taking to his account on X, Harrington utilized double entendres since viewers watched Cates meet his maker for his farewell remarks.  Adam expressed, “Well, General Hospital it was a BLAST, literally! To Frank Valentini, producers and writers. Thank you for the SHOT at joining your world. I loved it. To the phenomenal cast and crew, it was a honor to witness the CALIBER of your work. Now, seriously, I will miss you all.”

In another post on X, Adam thanked the fans for their support during his time in Port Charles, adding, “To the General Hospital viewers and fans. It’s been a honor being in your world, and feeling your passion. To those who have written a goodbye, I’ve read every word and I’m deeply humbled. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Until we meet again … Adam.”

GH viewers first saw Adam on the February 2 episode when viewers were re-introduced to the recast “Jagger.” His first scenes were with Laura Wright’s Carly, where we learned the character was now going by the name “John”.  The last time the character of “Jagger” was seen was back in 2008 on the GH spinoff series, General Hospital: Night Shift when Antonio Sabato Jr., reprised his signature soap role, a part he first played back from 1992-1994.

So, are you sad to see Adam exit GH? What do you think of his parting words? Comment below, but first check out the final moments where John and Sonny have a confrontation with dire consequences for Cates.

The actor was good, the character was done dirty by GH confuse switching writers, to bad the actor didn’t get cast as a different character he got stuck playing a character that the show switched up and failed at it. And now they officially made sonny a cold blooded killer and I’m sure Jason and Carly will help cover his crime thus making them equally as guilty and we the fans are suppose to be rooting for these 3 characters? Let me be wrong because if this is how it goes down, there’s no way this can fly, GH will have 3 characters that are muderers as the stars of the show? how awful.

Honestly, look at that picture of him & Cyrus and tell me they don’t look like father & son?

I was sure they were going to finally address that, now that Cyrus was back. It might also explain who was fueling Jagger’s irrational hatred of Sonny for things from over 30 years ago, that he was NOT angry about, the last time he was in Port Charles in 2008 (or whenever Night Shift was)

Of course, as long as the body is still warm, they can still test the liver and see if it’s a match for Lulu. Which it could very well be, if they were cousins.

With two gunshot wounds to the chest, that liver wouldn’t likely be transplantable. Also, they made it a point that Lulu isn’t eligible to be on the registry – bring in a coma kind of negates eligibility – so any liver would have to come from a private donor.

We’ll just file the Jagger is Cyrus’ kid with some of your other unique theories (i.e. Morgan/Alcazar being Pikeman).

I will miss Adam J Harrington, John Cates, I was hoping the character would be changed, in some way. I wish he was staying, on the GH soap. All the very best Adam in your future endeavors.

im so happy that jagger is going away the actor was good maybe he can come back as another person his performance was spot on.

Great opportunity wasted. Could have been a first class murder mystery. Instead, we see whodunit, and all that we really have to hope for is that Anna and her police department don’t look TOO stupid as Sonny and Carly get away scot-free yet again! Somehow, Kristina’s fingerprints on the wrong gun will incriminate her, and we’ll have another couple of weeks of her shrill freak-outs … sigh.

Great actor. He was someone you loved them loved to hate. Excellent job coming in as a character someone else on e played. Loved the eyes and smile. Sadly his life had to end on GH but he really was a jerk at the end. Causing himself to be in So ny’s wrath.

This week on all-new episodes of General Hospital, new and old motivations come into play with dangerous consequences. According to the just released GH video spoilers video for the week of August 3-7, a bailiff calls out, “All rise!”

Now it’s Isaiah (Sawandi Wilson) vs. Curtis (Donnell Turner), as the surgeon is suing the owner of the Savoy for assault that ruined is ability to operate. At the end of the day, which of these men has enough evidence against the other? Portia (Brook Kerr) is by Isaiah’s side, while Jordan (Tanisha Harper) is with Curtis.

Next, Lucy (Lynn Herring) has a plan to get the controlling shares of Deception away from Michael (Rory Gibson). She wants her daughter, Serena (Kelly Kruger) to seduce Michael. She tells her, “Pick out your most seductive suit.” Soon, we see Serena in her bathing suit at the Metro Court face to face with Michael.

Later, there is a small baggie containing three blue pills. Nina (Cynthia Watros) ask Willow (Katelyn MacMullen), “What did you do?” We also see Michael asking the same thing of Jacinda (Paige Herschell). Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Take a look at the official GH spoilers for the week below.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
