Akbar Gbajabiamila Named New Co-Host on ‘The Talk’

Photo: NBC

American Ninja Warrior star and former NFL player, Akbar Gbajabiamila, has been named a new permanent co-host on The Talk, following the departures of Elaine Welteroth and Carrie Ann Inaba.

Akbar has previously co-hosted episodes of the afternoon talker over the summer.  He will join Amanda Kloots, Jerry O’Connell and Sheryl Underwood for the new look ‘Talk’s’ upcoming 12th season.

The new season kicks-off on Monday, September 13th.

In a statement on his new gig, Gbajabiamila noted: “It is an absolute honor to be joining The Talk as a host! I am so excited for this new generation of such a long-standing establishment.  To be a part of this diverse group is truly a dream and a new statement for The Talk. In a world as divided as ours, I look forward to showing up as my fun and authentic self every day and advocating for conversation over confrontation.”

The Talk’s co-EP, Heather Gray added: “It’s a new day in daytime for Season 12 of The Talk, and we are thrilled to welcome Akbar to the family. His engaging personality, openness and quick wit really impressed us when he appeared as a guest co-host last season.”

The series now has two male and two female co-hosts, for the once female dominated panel.

So, what do you think about Akbar Gbajabiamila joining The Talk? Comment below.

I like him. But the promotion and direction of this show as of late reeks of desperation IMO…

Good luck trying to save this -fest.
This has to be the last season for The Talk. No way it can continue after all the controversy that’s gone on. All the smart ones have already jumped ship!

A very bizarre choice for a ladies talk show. It looks just like Good Morning America now.
I haven’t watched since their shameful behavior toward Sharon Osbourne.

This guy is too good looking to be wasted on this show and they will have to put Sheryl in restraints. Anyone who’s watched this show knows this is not just a petty statement but true.

I love seeing Akbar on the permanent cast and enjoyed him over the summer. He balances Jerry and is more serious than him, so it is a good match. Love to Amanda and to my favorite and loyal Cheryl.

Nancy Lee Grahn Debuted 25 Years Ago Today as General Hospital’s Alexis Davis

Back on September 26th, 1996, (25 years ago today!) the new character of Alexis Davis made her debut on ABC’s General Hospital, and brought to the iconic soap opera, the talents of Nancy Lee Grahn.

Grahn, had already made a name for herself with her captivating portrayal of lawyer Julia Wainwright Capwell on Santa Barbara for which she won a Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy in 1989, in a tie with AMC’s Debbi Morgan.

Back in April, General Hospital, marked this milestone with a special episode for Grahn, that could be remembered come next year’s Emmys.

Alexis, or shall we call her “Natasha”, was introduced on GH as the daughter of Mikkos Cassadine and his mistress, whose throat was slit by Helena Cassadine, which has played into Alexis’ story for many years to come.  At the time of her entrance to the show, Wendy Riche was GH’s executive producer.

Through the years, viewers have witnessed Grahn’s portrayal of: a tough legal eagle, an honest depiction of a woman battling the bottle, failed romances, while all the time being a loving and faithful mother to her three daughters, Sam, Molly, and Kristina.

Nancy won her second Supporting Actress Daytime Emmy, this time for her role as Alexis in 2012, and has been a multi-nominee in the Lead Actress category for her performances on the ABC daytime drama series.

Here’s to Nancy for giving us 25 years of her on-screen work as Alexis!

Congratulate Nancy and tell us your favorite Alexis Davis moments via the comment section below.
