Alice Hunter Done at Y&R

It looks like it’s a wrap, at least for now, for Alice Hunter who joined The Young and the Restless in the role of Kerry under Mal Young’s tenure with the series.

Alice took to Twitter to confirm her exit from the series after much speculation online, by stating:  “To all asking – yes, Kerry is taking an indefinite hiatus. She earns it though you’ll see soon enough. I LOVE the arc, even if I’m sad to leave. And yes, a bunch of #YR cast & crew surprised me Friday and it was something I’ll never forget,”

She also gave special mention in a subsequent tweet to some of those performers in the cast that Hunter considers her mentors: Peter Bergman (Jack) and Gina Tognoni (Phyllis) with who she shares screen-time with.   Alice expressed: “My mentors. My friends. This journey has been indescribable.”

As Y&R viewers know, Kerry was a highly regarded chemist who came on to the scene following Ashley Abbott’s (Eileen Dsvidson) departure from Paris, and became involved with Jack Abbott and worked alongside Jabot CEO, Phyllis.

No word yet as to when Hunter will make her final Y&R appearance on-screen.

So, what do you think about the exit of Alice Hunter from The Young and the Restless? Are more exits forthcoming under the new regime in Genoa City? Comment below.

Great character – I am not pleased about this character leaving

I am more than happy she is leaving.

No offense to this young lady, but thank GOD! She was awkward as someone trying to dance to a drum solo.

Bradley

I agree. The pairing between her and Jack felt forced and was not believable. Definitely FF on my DVR when they were on.

Kay

Why would anybody think a 29 year old would have sexual chemistry with a 65 ??? This show needs a major over haul and you might want to start cleaning house! JG fourth time up to bat PLEASE ! Where us Douglas Marlsnd when you need him I appreciate the vets who helped build the show but who really wants to watch repeats of a 77 year old EB versus 65 year old PB ! Pretty pathetic when Kyle has not had a sex scene and old people do ugh! Time marches on and please send LB out to pasture her acting is horrible maybe time to close the doors! Recasting Adam ! Why????

Lisa
Lisa

I’m sad to see her go. Kerry and Jack have great chemistry together.
Y&R should keep her.

GramS

He is 65 and she is 29. Any kind of chemistry with that age difference disgusts me.

lee

But, it happens everyday.

Mary
Mary

Then you must be disgusted with the chemistry between quite a few daytime couples. For example,The DOOL legacy characters Doug Williams (Bill Hayes) is 93 and Julie Williams (Susan Seaforth Hayes) is 75. Or Another World’s Rachel and Mac Cory. Douglass Watson (Mac) was 24 years older than Victoria Wyndham (Rachel).

Celia

Hi, Mary,
Eighteen years is nothing compared to thirty-six. That IS disgusting. Even in real life, any young woman who is involved with someone old enough to be her father; or marries said father-figure; is after his money or something bigger than she.
This is fiction….yet, as I still maintain, fiction mimics life….Kerry has an agenda.
Furthermore, what intrigues Jack is her youth…….makes him feel young again? I don’t know much about sixty-five year old men–in the Biblical sense–but, can Jack keep up? Even with Viagra?
If he can, more power to him. But, it’s still disgusto!!
❤️

Mary
Mary

Kerry definitely has an agenda. Young and Restless is a soap opera after all. A thirty-six age difference between two people in real life involved in a romantic relationship is none of anyone’s business. And unless you are standing next to the young woman involved on a 24/7 basis you cannot know what her motives are.

Celia
Celia

LOL, GramS…..that’s exactly what I said when this mismatched, obnoxious relationship started—then, when they ended up in bed? I almost barfed!!
I aleo said this was part of Kerry’s plan. She has an agenda. Plus, she’s not the typical female to whom Jack is attracted. She’s too Amazon(ish)…. masculine-type…..and younger than, Kemo; Jack’s firstborb, whom Jack has forgotten ….along with the PTB.

Lee
Lee

I agree. At first I was bothered with their pairing due to the availability of both Nate and Devon. But, after I got over that I felt like Jack was really into her. And she is all kinds of sexy!!!

Violet Lemm
Violet Lemm

Yea, he’s into her alright, the dirty old man!

Jimmy

Good riddance! Kerry never caught on for me, and I didn’t buy her as a love interest for Jack. Now that Nick and Phyllis are broken up, I could see a potential reunion for her and Jack in the future. She was a newbie with no ties to the canvas, and I would much rather have Ashley back full time. Though I did have a feeling they would make Kerry and Brytni Sarpy’s new character, Elena Dawson, sisters. I guess that’s out the window now.

As for the actress, maybe she’ll be hired by another soap. B&B could bring her on as a love interest for Justin, or maybe as Flo’s long-lost second cousin twice removed, since Brad Bell seems intent on integrating her to the canvas, by bringing on her mother, and shoving her down our throats with the same repetitive scenes with Zoe. Ugh.

Celia
Celia

Kerry was brought in for a reason, Jimmy….I may be way off base here; but this unappealing, languid character needed to sink her teeth and plant her feet firmly onto an uppercrust family. At first I suspected Phyllis and Ashley working in concert with her to oust Jack.
But, now I am not so sure. Nonetheless, Kerry needed Jack to trust her, in order to facilitate what she had planned from the onset.
The mystery person, with whom she keeps communicating via cell-phone, is someone we probably know. Tessa? JT? ” There is something rotten in the state of Denmark”……in this case, GC.
Oh….I completely forgot about Brytni–could she be the new Lily? …or someone for Devon ( oh, Lord–poor girl)?… Does Brytni sing? LOL.

Nothing against the Nu Jordan on GH, but Alice Hunter may be a better Jordan. IJS

Glad to see her go! Hopefully, the Rosales family(except for Lola) is next on a flight out of town.

Damien
Damien

I find the Rosales family a breathe of fresh air. Its not the actors fault there was nothing else going on in genoa city that they had to be on all the time and suffocate viewers. Jts death being dragged out for a whole year before picking up steam just lately doesnt count.
Mia is juicy soapy fun! ..and arturo and rey are about to get dragged in even more in her schemes! All the actors are authentic and real
I for one find it classic soap!

Momo
Momo

It’s not that nothing else is going on. It’s that the writer chose to write nothing else. We have had too much of the Rosales family. They have been on far too much. I wouldn’t mind some here and there, but every day is too much.

Celia
Celia

Just get rid of Arturo……I don’t mind Rey and Lola. But, you are right….seeing them on a daily basis is unnerving, Momo.

Kay

That is notbgoing to happen the head of cbs daytime AM is all in for them! New blood is not a problem its shoving them down your throat five times a day ! Absolute horrible writing

❤️–say it, Miss Violet!!

Her linking with Jack never made sense. There was no build up, she’s on the show a few weeks and suddenly he is head over heals for a woman he doesn’t even know. If the writer had been smart, they should not have killed Hillary off, but recast, perhaps with Alice. No doubt she is a talented actress given an unlikely storyline, especially the big mystery… she might want to have a baby someday?????>

I really liked the love story with her and Jack and was hoping to see him happy. Fans had questions about some things but We all liked her role and especially with Jack…

Violet Lemm

Posey,
This couple was never meant to be. As someone else pointed out, she is 29 and he is almost 66. Seriously, is that OK with you? Suppose it was your daughter seeing a man that age. It makes me cringe, when my imagination kicks in, yuk!!

James R. Poissant
James R. Poissant

I would have liked it if her romance with jack had been timed a little slower. That bothered me that we were supposed to root for Kerry and jack as a couple when we had only known them together for 10 minutes. That’s the way the saps are these days.

Tani Sterling
Tani Sterling

She has an interesting presence, but this just wasn’t the right role for her; almost a niche actor. Please have Jack find a bright and mature friend that evolves into something special. Don’t hurry!

Momo

Her character is boring. Goodbye.

Joe

I never understood her character, never was developed that well for us to really care about her….more like a character forced on us that we never really got to know. Not unhappy with the departure.

Thank goodness! Has anyone ever questioned with whom she is communicating??….mystery calls and texts. Hmmmm—- JT? I know, it’s a stretch, LOL.

Read on another blog, most people are thinking it’s Ashley in cahoots with Kerry, come back to ruin Jack, ousting out Red and taking back Jabot. Eileen leaving in the first place was most likely to get away from M.Young, while claiming she wanted more time with her family. Who knows? I for one have honestly not missed her, with everything else going on.
As far as J.T being P.C, what would his interest be in Jabot? What thinks thee?

Mary SF
Mary SF

I am not surprised, this happens all the time when a new writer comes in, they usually get rid of characters that were created by the previous writer especially if the character has no real ties to the history of show.

I thought for sure she was going to be transgender– and the needle in her purse was hormones–but that never played out, so who knows what her secret is, but she obviously always had one.

Anyway, one can only hope her exit will be more interesting than her entrance.

The age difference between her and Jack didn’t really bother me because it happens all the time on soaps, but personally I think Jack and Phyllis are end game, yet I admit, I really enjoyed Jack’s little fling with Gloria–too bad that was so short lived.

RAB

Kerry got a phone call and it said PC…. could that be “ police chief”? Is she working with Paul?

Good idea, but she always acts like she’s doing something shady and underhanded against Jabot.

So long – farewell – Auf wiedersehen – good bye!!

Denyse Tontz and Lincoln Younes Preview Forbidden Romance & Intrigue As ‘Grand Hotel’ Premieres

When Grand Hotel opens its doors to its audience tonight on ABC (10PMET/PT), it will have a very familiar feel to soap fans for several of its series regulars and its executive producer all come from the world of daytime or serialized storytelling.

Executive Producer, Eva Longoria (Ex-Y&R, Desperate Housewives, Devious Maids, Telenovela) brought to the screens a provocative drama with Miami Beach as its backdrop of the last family-owned hotel (by the Mendozas) with a contemporary take of an upstairs/downstairs story of 2019.

Former General Hospital’s Bryan Craig plays Javi, who is joined by two other soap notables; former All My Children reboot star, Denyse Tontz (Ex-Miranda Montgomery) and Australian-born actor, Lincoln Younes (Ex-Casey, Home and Away) who’s characters are interlocked in some very sexy and mysterious ways.

Tontz, plays Alicia Mendoza the strong-willed daughter of the Mendoza clan, who is fresh out of business school… and who will make a huge discovery about her dad, but is also set to embark on a romance with a new staff hire!  And that staff hire is Danny played by Younes, whose character Danny is not who he says he is at all … and he has one goal in my mind which brought him to the hotel … but things get complicated for him when he feels a massive attraction to the hotel owner’s daughter … Alicia!

Michael Fairman TV took part in a press roundtable discussion with Tontz and Younes to get some teasers of what’s to come when Grand Hotel premieres.  Here’s what they shared in some questions posed by us and others below.

Photo: ABC

Danny and Alicia definitely have an instant attraction in the season premiere. Where can you tease that it might go?

LINCOLN:  Well, it can go in a number of directions, but hopefully towards a positive one.  They each have their own motivations for why they’re at the hotel.

DENYSE:  Alicia’s main goal, or at least from the beginning, is to prove herself, just having graduated business school and sort of step into her mother’s shoes a little bit. She’s had a lot of pressure on her for most of her life to sort of fill that role and keep the family together.  I think it’s really tough to have to juggle that and the desire to explore this potential romance with this person who is so intriguing to her.

LINCOLN:  I think with Danny, his reasons are kind of unknown as to why he’s at the hotel.  He comes in as a new employee, but there is something off about him.  It is complicated by the arrival of Alicia and the chemistry the kind of ensues between them.  I think that’s kind of the interesting thing to watch is them navigating their priorities and their initial motivations with the inevitable chemistry and dynamic that has appeared.

Photo: ABC

The main family in Grand Hotel is Hispanic.  And what is intriguing about the premise is that their ethnicity is not the backdrop of the story, it’s just who they are.  Would you agree?

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Will Franco Wake Up As Drew & Become The Next Victim Of Mind-Mapping?

LINCOLN:  Eva is kind of a trailblazer in that way because this is about the story of a family, and a hotel, and the guests, and the employees, and the employers, and all of the different things these people go through.  It’s not so much the color of their skin and their background.  I think as soon as you take away the magnifying glass of how a person appears and really look at what is going on inside, that’s a step in the right direction.

DENYSE:  I think that even though we are really a diverse cast and crew, that really has nothing to do with the actual premise of the show, and I think that’s really cool even to just see that.  To just play a character who happens to be Hispanic, and that’s not the central theme of this character, I think there really are no stereotypes that are perpetuated in any way.

LINCOLN:  It’s the perfect melting pot of culture, and the fact that it is set in a hotel where anyone from any part of the world can come into, it creates this show that I don’t see anything like this on TV, and that’s very exciting.

Do you see Danny and Alicia as a duo to root for with their dysfunction and all throughout the series?

DENYSE:  I think there is this sort of allure to the forbidden romance aspect of it all.

LINCOLN:  They have these obstacles in front of them.

DENYSE:  But you want it to happen. (Laughs)

LINCOLN:  You want it to happen, and it’s just against all odds.  That complicates things.

Photo: ABC

You have such a great cast to work with; chief among them Demián Bichir, Roselyn Sanchez (Devious Maids)!

DENYSE:  Oh man, working with Demián and Roselyn and Eva Longoria was a dream.  They’re each so special in their own way.

LINCOLN:  Three powerhouses.

DENYSE:  Yeah, three powerhouses and very different.  They each have their own way of approaching a scene.  Demián is mostly a movie actor, and it really shows in the way he approaches scenes, and the way he is not glued to the lines, and it’s kind of cool to watch him and learn from him in that way.  He’s so funny too.  He makes it a really comfortable environment, and you feel safe to try stuff.   Eva … same thing.  She has a clear vision for what she wants.  She can direct in such a way that I think a lot of directors can’t, because she has been on the other side of the camera, and she has got a really good perspective.  I think she’s really great at articulating what she wants you to do.

DAYS' Olivia Rose Keegan Delivers 'The Power Performance of the Week'

LINCOLN:  Yeah, she’s very meticulous.  I think the thing about all of the people who you’ve just mentioned is that they all have levity.  They are all very specific, but they are all very authentic.  That carries through in both their acting and how they carry themselves off set.  That was really great to kind of learn from them.

Photo: ABC

Many in the cast are from daytime dramas, or soap operas previously, including both of you!  Was that a coincidence in the producers casting choices, you think?

LINCOLN: I think, just knowing Eva so well now, and Brian and Ben, the creators behind it, they searched long and hard for the people they wanted to play the roles.  So, it might just be a happy coincidence.

When the scripts came out, how did the cast handle the twists?

LINCOLN:  There was a lot of speculation going on.  There was a lot of gossiping on set and off set.

DENYSE:  Lots of gossiping, stealing scripts… a lot of bombshells though.  There really is no shortage of plot twists.  A lot of these characters you think are going to start out a certain way, and then you find yourself completely changing your opinion of them halfway through the season. Without giving too much away, nobody is really who they appear to be.

Photo: ABC

How do you both feel about the fact that the wait is over and Grand Hotel is finally premiering?

DENYSE:  It’s super exciting.

LINCOLN:  It’s very surreal.  This is my first American show, so I have no idea what to expect.  I just go to Denyse for advice.  I’m like, “What do I do?”  (Laughs).  It’s all very exciting.  I think when you love a project; there is another element when it is released to the public.  Everyone on the show loves it.  Everyone is so passionate about it.  So, I just hope that the audience feels the same and that we get to keep doing it.

So will you be checking out Denyse, Lincoln, Bryan, Eva and more on Grand Hotel?  Share your thoughts via the comment section below. But first check out this promo for the kick-off tonight!
