AMC's Eden Riegel: "The cliffhanger definitely impacts my character in particular & she’s reeling from the effects!"

When All My Children debuts next week on Monday April 29th, the fallout from the 2011 ABC finale cliffhanger, where JR fired a gunshot at the Chandler soiree’ will resonate in many ways and for many characters.
For Bianca Montgomery, played by fan favorite and Daytime Emmy winner, Eden Riegel, it will provide spark for major story for her long suffering morale center of Pine Valley, who happens to be gay and now raising a teenaged daughter, Miranda played by Denyse Tontz!
In a new interview out today with the Dallas Voice, the premiere media voice for LGBT Texas, Eden Riegel previewed what to look for when things kick-off for her character in the revival of AMC. Riegel related, “I would say the cliffhanger more than gets addressed. The effects are felt basically by everyone in Pine Valley. It’s five years later, so we get this exciting time jump and catch up with these characters’ lives. The cliffhanger definitely impacts my character in particular and she’s reeling from the effects. It’s affecting her family, so it’s definitely a big part of the show. Moving it forward means that people don’t have to stand around in black and mourn for weeks.”
Eden also informed the Dallas Voice that Bianca being a gay mom does impact the now SORAS’d Miranda in High School: “Miranda is dealing with things at school that have to deal with her mother’s sexuality. The fact that Bianca is gay is really sort of first and foremost in her life and the plot. We deal with that fallout, too, because we’ve never seen Bianca with a grown daughter having to deal with maybe her daughter feeling the effects of intolerance. Bianca has certainly dealt with that, but it’s a lot different when the person you love more than anyone in the world has to deal with it because of you. So I think Bianca feels some guilt about that and is trying to help her daughter deal with that. Bianca’s sexuality definitely plays a role in the context of her family.”
So where do you think Bianca will be at emotionally from the fallout from the 2011 gunshot and Miranda’s teenaged angst? Weigh-in!

Billy Miller Memorial Scholarship Endowment Created at His Alma Mater to Help Others ‘Realize Their Dreams’

Two months since three-time Daytime Emmy-winning actor, Billy Miller passed away, the beloved All My Children (ex-Richie), General Hospital (ex-Jason/Drew) and The Young and the Restless (ex-Billy) star, will now have a permanent scholarship endowment in his honor at the University of Texas at Austin which was Miller’s alma mater.
Through the scholarship, it will be able to help radio/television and film undergraduate students with financial need. Billy’s family and friends have established this permanent scholarship in his memory, naming it the William Jon Miller II “Billy Miller” Memorial Scholarship. They hope the endowment will be a legacy to his life and love of acting.
Before becoming soap-famous, Billy graduated from the the university’s department of Radio-Television-Film (RTF) at the Moody College of Communication. On its official website, they shared the news of this special memorial scholarship and how Miller died at the age of 43 after surrendering his life to bipolar depression, which he struggled with his whole life.

Megan Hubbell, Billy’s sister, expressed, “We want something positive to be held in his name in perpetuity through the University he loved. He would be honored to know that even in death, he can help someone else realize their dreams.”
She added how she hoped her immensely talented brother will be remembered: “I hope BJ (as Billy was known by to his friends and family) is remembered for the kind-hearted, silly, funny, goofy, generous, beautiful soul that he was His megawatt smile, deep belly laugh and gorgeous mug were gifts on screen, but his true self was a bright light that will be carried with us forever.”

According to Miller’s family, Billy had his picks of schools and UT was his first choice. When he first came to the university, Billy started in the zoology program before switching to radio-television-film, where he felt he belonged. Miller was one of just 20 students at the time accepted into the department’s prestigious production-sequence program.
“BJ was extremely proud to be a Texas Longhorn and always remembered his time there fondly,” Hubbell said. “The time he spent at UT allowed him the space to explore who he wanted to be and what he wanted to accomplish.”

In honoring her brother’s work and strength to persevere in the often heartbreaking world of entertainment, Megan related: “I always admired the guts it took to go after a dream in Hollywood that so many people tried to discourage. He heard, ‘You’ll never make it’ more times than I care to count, but he used those comments as fuel and said, ‘Watch me.’”
Miller’s roles went far beyond those on daytime soap operas, as throughout his career he played major parts in primetime’s Suits, Ray Donovan and Castle to name but a few.

In his death, Billy’s family is encouraging people to take stock of their own mental health. “BJ would want anyone struggling with intrusive thoughts to seek professional help,” Hubbell said. “Do not suffer in silence or try to muscle through on your own. Mental health is vitally important and shouldn’t be spoken about in silos behind closed doors but rather in open forums with open arms. Shame has no place in the discussion to seek help.”

As is tradition with “Live’s Halloween” episodes, they are always filled with costume and pop culture moments and special guest surprises. Ripa and Consuelos were right in step with the biggest social media love story at the moment; that of Swift and her burgeoning romance with Kansas City Chiefs Tight End, Travis Kelce.
During Halloween week which started on Monday, October 30, Live was up up 11% versus the week prior in total viewers, and averaged 2.6 million viewers throughout the week. Year-over-year, the talk show was up that week by 15% in terms of total viewers. Will Bianca’s daughter with Reece be on the show? I cannot even remember her name. I just remember Zach being the biological father.
I am not sure if I am remembering this right or not but I thought that child went with Reese back to Paris?
Yah well, she returned to Pine Valley 🙂
That’s Gabby. She was on the show that last year. I’ve been wondering where she’s been too.
Maybe they are casting Gabby and will be on screen later on?
So, for Bianca to be impacted so strongly by the gunshot fired by J.R., does this mean perhaps that Erica Kane [her mom] was shot? I somehow doubt that, so who was Bianca with at the get-together when the shot rang out? I know that at the time her character was being played by another actress, but I can’t seem to remember now – it occured back in September 2011 and my memory of it isn’t that great – I will say though that I’m happy that Eden Riegel is reprising her role as Bianca, I wasn’t overly impressed with the actress who temporarily took over the role during the last year of the show’s ABC-TV run.
what if it was Marissa who was shot?
you could see that happening…. JR WAS maligned… caught off gaurd… this would never happen to him….
unfortunately… this would give Bianca years and years of story… and big history.
Marissa was his ex-wife who left him for Bianca. It seems very likely that is who he shot.
My guess is Erica was shot . I doubt they will kill off the character and with Susan Lucci scheduled for 1 appearance, I believe, Erica is probably in a coma somewhere in Switzerland. Looking glam, naturally….lol. (Hey, maybe Faison has her, too! LOL)
I feel like JR shot Marissa.
ditto….
by choice and/or wrong place at the wrong time…
and… this would give Dr. David Hayward… plenty to real with.
hardened evenmoreso.
Gosh how I love his acting.
I never thought of Marissa. I thought maybe he shot Brooke, but when the shot Personally affects Bianca, I wonder if it is Erica, that would be a way to keep her “alive” and yet not have to see her until Susan is able to return…..
i think it was marissa because in the preview david is at a cemetary standing by a tomb stone saying he is back & there is going to be hell to pay……………….
Was Marissa at the Get-Together with Bianca when the shot rang out? I would have to dig out the last ALL MY CHILDREN abc-tv episode to see where she was at. I don’t remember everyone who was there, I just remember Opal telling Erica “now you’ve done it, you’ll never get him back now” and a determined Erica running out after Jack, and the shot rang out – that was it — I don’t know if they will ever re-enact the scene, because not all of the actors are returning.
Marissa was standing next to Bianca. JR aimed the gun at Marissa, Dixie, Angie… bang…
I thought Tad was in a coma, too. We can’t have both Erica and Tad (and possibly Kendull) all three in a coma.
Would be nice if J.R.’s gun actually sidelined two characters (permanently!)
Wasn’t bianca and char of tamara braun very unpopular w/ amc’s audience that they had to be being written off amc? Not odd though that bianca’s back w/ amc. A poll from ipsos media center reports that 18% of americans have become more favorable to same gender marriage bec of hollywood tv shows like “new normal” w/c shows gay couples. This is what hollywood does. They push for same gender marriage bec that’s hollywood’s priority. There are 205 countries on this planet. Only 14 have same gender marriage. But same gender marriage is such a priority for profit driven hollywood despite the low ratings of tv shows w/ lead gay chars like new normal and glee and smash. Unpopular chars like amc’s bianca return bec same gender marriage is a more significant issue compared to a show being profitable. You’d think there would be more tv shows w/ leading chars who are African american females especially bec the 18-49 demo ratings of scandal is better than all its competitors. The 18-49 demo of scandal is even higher than fox’s highest rated tv show american idol! There are tons of hollywood tv shows w/ leading and supporting gay chars. Yet scandal is only the 2nd hollywood drama to ever have an African american female as its leading char! Racial diversity is blamed when a night soap like nbc’s deception flops bec the leading char is African american female. Yet tons of tv shows w/ white chars and gay chars can flop. But the racial background and gay orientation of those chars won’t be blamed for those shows being flops. Racial diversity is clearly not a priority for tolerant hollywood. An unpopular char like amc’s bianca returns bec gay issues are hollywood’s priority.
Dude just shut up already about the lack of Racial Equality practices in Hollywood. Bianca is not an Unpopular character because she is gay, Bianca’s character has always been a popular character before and after she came out! Bianca and her “Wife” Reese was an unpopular couple because Reese Cheated on Bianca and was controlling and a leach…..Now really dude take your Racial equality in Hollywood and go post it on a HOLLYWOOD SITE, NO ONE ON HERE CARES TO HEAR IT REALLY!!!
