All My Children’s J.R. Martinez won the Mirror Ball Trophy last night along with his dance partner, Karina Smirnoff on Season 13 of the ABC reality-ballroom competition, Dancing with the Stars!

In one of the most hotly contested races of any of the seasons of the series, J.R. after the viewer votes were combined with the judges’ total, came out on top in a heart-tugging, riveting, and inspirational ten weeks of competition.  J.R. just edged out reality star, Rob Kardashian who was the season runner-up and was the comeback-kid of the dance-offs peaking in his performances just at the right time to grab the number two spot.

Talk show host and actress, Ricki Lake, ended up in third place even though she was the most consistent and precise performer in all of the competition week after week.  But it was J.R.’s combination of dance moves, energy and an unbelievable heroic story that no one can deny that through this competition he was a hero, was again, for many.

And in addition, Martinez has been named the Grand Marshall on the upcoming Tournament of Roses Parade on New Year’s Day!

Congrats J.R. for all your success!
