As previously reported, the ABC hit primetime series, Castle starring Nathan Fillion (Ex- Joey Buchanan, OLTL) is gearing up for their splashy soap crime drama episode that is tentatively set to air on March 21st on ABC.

Well, news out today from ABC Soaps In Depth is that All My Children’s Rylee, Rebecca Budig (Greenlee) and Cameron Mathison (Ryan) are two of the soap actors involved in the episode who play soap actors in the story’s fictional daytime drama, Temptation Lane. The Pine Valley duo will be joined by Corbin Bernsen in the episode.

Here’s a little bit more info on the episode:  It’s  titled One Life To Lose, and has Castle and Beckett called in to investigate the murder of a soap opera headwriter after a fan blogs about her dissatisfaction with the soaps storylines. Budig appears as the soaps starlet Mandy Bronson, and Mathison is actor, Vince Bowers.  Stay tuned for more news on this very splashy and soapy installment of Castle!

Are any One Life to Live actors appearing on this episode of Castle? If not, WHY NOT?!? The episode is called One Life to Lose and Castle star, Nathan Fillion, appeared on OLTL. NOT AMC! Did Brian Frons have a say in the decision re: which actors would be chosen? And don’t try to tell me that AMC actors were selected because both their show and Castle film in California, whereas OLTL films in New York. In case ABC hasn’t noticed, there’s this amazing new invention called THE AIRPLANE! #ClassicFail

Awful news…the two most over-hyped actors on ABC daytime (well, them and Vanessa G-M) are going to pollute my fav show??!! I’d much rather see only OLTL actors (past and present) and keep the rest in the afternoon where they belong. Not happy 🙁

Kelly Ripa To Guest Star On CW’s Riverdale

Here’s a fun bit of casting news!  Live with Kelly and Ryan and former All My Children star, Kelly Ripa  (Ex-Hayley) is joining her real-life husband, Mark Consuelos (Ex-Mateo, AMC) on the hit CW soapy drama Riverdale.

Consuelos already plays the the role of Hiram Lodge, and now Ripa will plays his mistress, Mrs. Mulwray.

Kelly shared the inspired-casting choice on Instagram relating: “It’s a family affair …23 years of auditioning for a role i was born to play. Coming soon to the CW;s Riverdale.”’

The CW released a statement on the casting of Ripa, adding: “Kelly Ripa will guest star on Riverdale as Mrs. Mulwray. Confident and tough, she is Hiram Lodge’s alleged mistress. She’s a beautiful, icy, femme fatale who gets caught up in a conspiracy that’s much bigger than she initially realized.”

Film buffs take note!  Ripa’s character name is borrowed from Faye Dunaway’s Oscar-nominated role in Chinatown (1974), Evelyn Mulwray.   Those who saw Chinatown know that Evelyn was a femme fatale as well caught up in a conspiracy!

And there is more “All in the Consuleos Family” casting.  The couple’s son Michael is portraying the teen-aged version of Hiram on tonight’s all-new episode.

Riverdale airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT
