In TV Guide Canada’s Soapgeist column, part one of a new exclusive interview with Andrea Evans on her return to The Bold and the Beautiful as trash talking Tawny has been posted by Nelson Branco. One of the all-time great soap vixens, Evans chats about what brings Tawny back to the B&B canvas, how she was happy to be on the Daytime Emmy Worst Dress List, playing vixens, her time as Tina Lord Roberts on One Life to Live and much more. Evans returns to B&B in her recurring role on December 29th. Till then, here are a few excerpts from her interview to tide you over!
Evans on being typecast as a vamp: “Yeah, in many ways I have played the same character my whole career. My characters are always money-grubbing and manipulative but they’re always fun. At this stage in my life, I am playing more ex-beauty queens/trophy wives. And that’s fine. I’m one of these lucky people who are always working. I am a happy woman”
Evans on returning as Tawny again on B&B: “It was like putting on an old glove; it kind of just always fits. What was a little weird was playing Tawny on Y&R because I used to play Patty there a long time ago. That was a little strange, but coming back to B&B was very welcoming and warm. Y&R was also very welcoming and comfortable. But since I didn’t act opposite any of my old Y&R co-stars, it almost felt like I was on a different show. I didn’t even get to act with Adrienne Frantz on Y&R because she had already left for B&B.”
Evans on her decision to wear outrageous dresses to the Daytime Emmys back in the day: “It started out by me hating everyone wearing these ladylike suits. I was like, “Damn, where is all the glamour?” If you want to be taken seriously and considered glamorous, you have to dress the part; don’t dress like you’re going to Bergdorfs for lunch. Also, back then, I had an idea of what I wanted to be in this business, and I knew no one paid attention to who was on the best-dressed list, but everybody did know who was on the worst.”
