Ashton Arbab Says Farewell To General Hospital: “It Was Such An Honor To Have Worked Alongside Of Such Talented Actors”

Yesterday, viewers of General Hospitals witnessed that as a result of the bomb explosion at the Floating Rib; it meant the end of the road for a couple of characters.  One of those was Dev, and thus ends Ashton Arbab’s over two-year run in the role.

In key scenes, Dev dies in the ambulance ride to the hospital and thanks Sonny (Maurice Benard) for making him a part of the family and tells Sonny to tell Josslyn (Eden McCoy) that he is sorry.  Will Sonny recall what Dev said and pass that on to Joss? Will anyone figure out Dev’s duplicity in keeping Joss and Cameron (William Burton) apart? Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, Ashton took to Twitter on Tuesday and shared these words of praise and ‘thank you’ for his time on the ABC daytime drama series.

Arbab expressed: “I am forever grateful to Producer Frank Valentini and Mark Teschner (casting director, GH) for this amazing opportunity. It was such an honor to have worked along side of such talented actors and I’m beyond blessed for your friendship. Most of all thank you General Hospital fans.”

So, what did you think of Dev being killed-off? Will you miss Ashton? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

I’m going to miss everyone they’re getting rid of. I’m seriously losing interest in the show I’ve watched for decades

I agree, dev and Dillion were making a new storyline with their parts, and the crap going on with Sam yes she changed when Billy Miller was with her but it took her no time at all to fall back with Jason and thrown herself into dangerous situations , so saying because she is a mother she is thinking of leaving, she was a mother when she directly placed herself in serious dangers.

Guess the young man with the expressive dark eyes and dark good looks will not have any trouble finding oodles of other work. Best of luck to him.

I’m more torn up about Dev than Dustin. He was starting to come into his own as a character, had great chemistry with the teen scene, and reminded me of a young version of Zander Smith from back in the day. Plus, killing off another teenager a year and a half after Oscar seems like a poor decision. I would have been much happier if it were Brando who blew up.

Well… they tried to send Dev out on a good note, with his attempts to apologize to Cam & Joss (though they wouldn’t know what he was apologizing for) and for being the one who actually spotted the “suspicious” bomb backpack, no doubt having seen things like that before, growing up in Turkey.

All a little too little too late though really. They painted the kid into a corner because they didn’t know what else to do with him, and his attempts at self redemption don’t really matter all that much, as he’s now dead and nobody’s going to know about it.

Sorry to see him and Mark Lawson go, but neither had much of a storyline.

Boring character tho the actor has talent and should easily find work

wtf, sad, really upset with the show killing off characters, and with the rumors of cast cuts this really sucks, but I know this much, Ashton nor Mark were contract players, so if the show is planning to really start cutting off contract players, its only going to get worse, what a shame, GH don’t start killing off your talent, viewers don’t like that. I know this one doesn’t.

I was really starting to like this guy and the characters of Dev, Josslyn, Trina and Cam hanging together. It’s a shame to see Dev killed off. It’s beginning to seem like if your the second guy in this quad, you’re doomed from the start. First Oscar; now Dev. Next guy beware.

They seemed to have lost interest in developing this character. What a shame. There was a lot of potential.

Best wishes to Ashton!

This one shocked me…I thought there was more to Dev’s story.

The death scene was more about Sonny than Dev. “Don’t die on me”? Sonny did even wait for the paramedics to call Dev dead. He hardly seemed moved – kinda like Dev’s dead, what’s for dinner?

The writers never fleshed out the Dev character. A minor who comes all the way from Turkey without any real mention of parents? Was he really attracted to Joss? Or, did he secretly have a thing for Cam? Regardless, they were wise to end it here and eventually bring on a new 4th teen. Just don’t get too close to Joss – she has the kiss of death, just like Michael.

I thought they were starting to write Dev having a thing for Cam, but with the covid shut down, storylines have probably needed to change, and unfortunately there are more cast cuts to come…

He was great. His death was pointless. I miss him already.

WHY are they wearing masks??

Johnny
I think it was the aftermath of the explosion with all the fumes, etc.

Seems Sonny and Carly are already at the “Dev who?” stage.

I really liked Ashton as an actor. He did a great job with the material he was given. I will definitely miss him.

Good riddance. Why can’t we just admit it, the kid can’t act. Never changed expression. Even a little creepy the way he looked at people. And they’re not getting rid of enough characters. Peter, Lulu, Dante, Carly, Sonny, come on – let’s clean house.

I’m sorry. But Pinocchio cannot act and I shall not miss his wooden performances.

Harry,
Which one do you mean, Dev or Dustin?

Dev, the subject of this article. He acts like he’s playing a tree from the Petrified Forrest.

Harry
I realized too late that was a stupid question, had already hit the post button. Don’t know how to cancel.

I am tired if gh getting rid of good actors. They should have kept Dev, Neil, Lulu, Drew & Mike. They should bring Mike as a twin brother to Mike.

Mike did a great job & he will be miss.

And Julian! They bring Dante back to only have Lulu written out. I’m disgusted with whoever is calling the shots. They’re ruining the show.

Leading into this week, viewers know that Willow doesn’t want the former escort anywhere near her children, Amelia and Wiley. Is this how she stops her, or is Jacinda up to old tricks and wants to frame Willow? Remember when Jacindsa drugged Drew (Cameron Mathison)? Stay tuned.

Finally, in the pick-up from last Friday’s cliffhanger, an emotional Jason (Steve Burton) continues to tell Sonny (Maurice Benard) that he cannot work for him anymore. Sonny ask, “So that’s it? You’re Out?” We fade to black.

Vincent Pastore, best known for his memorable role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on HBO’s The Sopranos has passed away.

The veteran actor was found dead on August 1st in his home in the Bronx, New York. Pastore was 80-years-old. The cause of death is yet to be determined.

As well as his role on The Sopranos, many soap fans will recall he played multiple smaller roles on the beloved One Life to Live from 1995 and 2004. However, in 2008, he landed the short-term role as Maximus Giambetti on General Hospital.

PASTORE WANTED TO BE ON GENERAL HOSPITAL

Maximus was the mobster father of Sonny Corinthos’ (Maurice Benard) bodyguards: Max (Derk Cheetwood) and Milo (Drew Cheetwood)

According to Soap Opera Digest, Pastore told Soaps In Depth back in 2009, after appearing in a SOAPnet promotional campaign as a celebrity fan of General Hospital: “‘I’d love to be on the show. So they called up GH’s casting director (Mark Teschner) and Bobby (Robert Guza Jr. ex-head writer, GH) and they wrote me in!”

Pastore was a huge General Hospital fan from way back, who at one point told producers that he would watch the ABC soap opera while working in bars and nightclubs in the 70s and 80s.

Throughout his decades long career, Pastore appeared in films including: Goodfellas, Carlito’s Way and Men of Respect, The Jerky Boys: The Movie and the 1996 HBO TV movie Gotti.

In TV, besides The Sopranos, Pastore’s credits included: Law & Order, The Practice, Son of the Beach, Queens Supreme, Hawaii Five-0, Wu-Tang: An American Saga, plus the miniseries The Last Don II. Most recently, Vincent was a series regular on Gravesend and guest starred on Yellowjackets.

Pastore is survived by his daughter, Renee, son-in-law and granddaughter.
