Ashton Arbab Says Farewell To General Hospital: “It Was Such An Honor To Have Worked Alongside Of Such Talented Actors”

Photo: ABC

Yesterday, viewers of General Hospitals witnessed that as a result of the bomb explosion at the Floating Rib; it meant the end of the road for a couple of characters.  One of those was Dev, and thus ends Ashton Arbab’s over two-year run in the role.

In key scenes, Dev dies in the ambulance ride to the hospital and thanks Sonny (Maurice Benard) for making him a part of the family and tells Sonny to tell Josslyn (Eden McCoy) that he is sorry.  Will Sonny recall what Dev said and pass that on to Joss? Will anyone figure out Dev’s duplicity in keeping Joss and Cameron (William Burton) apart? Stay tuned.

Meanwhile, Ashton took to Twitter on Tuesday and shared these words of praise and ‘thank you’ for his time on the ABC daytime drama series.

Arbab expressed: “I am forever grateful to Producer Frank Valentini and Mark Teschner (casting director, GH) for this amazing opportunity. It was such an honor to have worked along side of such talented actors and I’m beyond blessed for your friendship. Most of all thank you General Hospital fans.”

So, what did you think of Dev being killed-off? Will you miss Ashton? Share your thoughts via the comment section below.

I’m going to miss everyone they’re getting rid of. I’m seriously losing interest in the show I’ve watched for decades

I agree, dev and Dillion were making a new storyline with their parts, and the crap going on with Sam yes she changed when Billy Miller was with her but it took her no time at all to fall back with Jason and thrown herself into dangerous situations , so saying because she is a mother she is thinking of leaving, she was a mother when she directly placed herself in serious dangers.

Guess the young man with the expressive dark eyes and dark good looks will not have any trouble finding oodles of other work. Best of luck to him.

I’m more torn up about Dev than Dustin. He was starting to come into his own as a character, had great chemistry with the teen scene, and reminded me of a young version of Zander Smith from back in the day. Plus, killing off another teenager a year and a half after Oscar seems like a poor decision. I would have been much happier if it were Brando who blew up.

Well… they tried to send Dev out on a good note, with his attempts to apologize to Cam & Joss (though they wouldn’t know what he was apologizing for) and for being the one who actually spotted the “suspicious” bomb backpack, no doubt having seen things like that before, growing up in Turkey. All a little too little too late though really. They painted the kid into a corner because they didn’t know what else to do with him, and his attempts at self redemption don’t really matter all that much, as he’s now dead and nobody’s going to know… Read more »

Sorry to see him and Mark Lawson go, but neither had much of a storyline.

wtf, sad, really upset with the show killing off characters, and with the rumors of cast cuts this really sucks, but I know this much, Ashton nor Mark were contract players, so if the show is planning to really start cutting off contract players, its only going to get worse, what a shame, GH don’t start killing off your talent, viewers don’t like that. I know this one doesn’t.

I was really starting to like this guy and the characters of Dev, Josslyn, Trina and Cam hanging together. It’s a shame to see Dev killed off. It’s beginning to seem like if your the second guy in this quad, you’re doomed from the start. First Oscar; now Dev. Next guy beware.

They seemed to have lost interest in developing this character. What a shame. There was a lot of potential.

Best wishes to Ashton!

This one shocked me…I thought there was more to Dev’s story.

The death scene was more about Sonny than Dev. “Don’t die on me”? Sonny did even wait for the paramedics to call Dev dead. He hardly seemed moved – kinda like Dev’s dead, what’s for dinner? The writers never fleshed out the Dev character. A minor who comes all the way from Turkey without any real mention of parents? Was he really attracted to Joss? Or, did he secretly have a thing for Cam? Regardless, they were wise to end it here and eventually bring on a new 4th teen. Just don’t get too close to Joss – she has… Read more »

I thought they were starting to write Dev having a thing for Cam, but with the covid shut down, storylines have probably needed to change, and unfortunately there are more cast cuts to come…

I really liked Ashton as an actor. He did a great job with the material he was given. I will definitely miss him.

Good riddance. Why can’t we just admit it, the kid can’t act. Never changed expression. Even a little creepy the way he looked at people. And they’re not getting rid of enough characters. Peter, Lulu, Dante, Carly, Sonny, come on – let’s clean house.

Which one do you mean, Dev or Dustin?

Dev, the subject of this article. He acts like he’s playing a tree from the Petrified Forrest.

I am tired if gh getting rid of good actors. They should have kept Dev, Neil, Lulu, Drew & Mike. They should bring Mike as a twin brother to Mike.

Mike did a great job & he will be miss.

And Julian! They bring Dante back to only have Lulu written out. I’m disgusted with whoever is calling the shots. They’re ruining the show.

Stars React to Alec Baldwin Fatally Shooting Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins & Injuring Director, Joel Souza, In Prop Gun Mishap On Set of ‘Rust’

UPDATED: Over the last 24 hours, the entertainment world has been stunned, by the horrific incident that took place on the set of the western drama Rust, while it was shooting scenes in New Mexico.

What is known is that Alec Baldwin (Ex-The Doctors, Knots Landing) discharged a prop gun that killed Director of Photography, Halyna Hutchins and injured director, Joel Souza.  The film also stars Frances Fisher (Ex-Edge of Night) and Jensen Ackles (Ex-Days of our Lives). Baldwin is also a producer on the film.

According to Variety, the prop gun contained a “live single round,” according to an email sent by IATSE Local 44 to its membership.

On Friday, Alec Baldwin made a statement via Twitter on his Hilaria and Alec Baldwin Foundation Twitter feed, expressing: “There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours. I’m fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna.”

Yesterday, The Sante Fe Sheriff’s Departments originally shared that “Hutchins, 42, and Souza, 48 were shot when a prop firearm was discharged by Alec Baldwin.  Ms. Hutchins was transported, via helicopter, to University of New Mexico Hospital where she was pronounced dead by medical personnel. Mr. Souza was transported by ambulance to Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical center where he was undergoing treatment for his injuries. This investigation remains open and active. No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.”

This morning, Frances Fisher revealed in a twitter conversation with Patricia Arquette, that director Joel Souza had been released from the hospital.  Meanwhile, photographs of a distraught Baldwin emerged following the shooting.

The news of the Baldwin prop gun incident, isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Jon-Erik Hexum was killed on October 18, 1984, on the set of the TV show Cover Up when he accidentally shot himself in the head with a gun loaded with blanks. Then, in 1993, Brandon Lee, the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, died from a prop gun accident on the set of The Crow by a cast member.

As the news made its way through the entertainment community and mainstream news, several soap stars shared their reactions to the fatal shooting accident.

General Hospital’s Jon Lindstrom (Kevin/Ryan) expressed: “Feeling so sad for everyone involved in the tragedy on the #RustMovie set. I do know the film was staffed with experienced, thoughtful professionals. Please, let’s wait until we have the facts. Nothing positive will come from passing judgement or casting aspersions before then.”

General Hospital and Dynasty’s Emma Samms (Holly, Fallon) shared on her friend Jon-Erik Hexum’s death: This AWFUL tragedy on #Rust is unfathomable to me. If all on-set protocols were being adhered to, how, on earth, could it have happened? After what happened to Brandon Lee and my dear friend Jon-Erik Hexam, the firearm protocols became incredibly strict. I was told (when I was with him at the hospital afterwards) that Jon-Erik had been working with a completely empty gun all morning. A blank (still very dangerous) was loaded and then immediately there was a delay. Exhausted, he was allowed to fall asleep – loaded gun in hand. hey woke him, but there was immediately another delay. Jon-Erik put the gun to his head, forgetting it now contained a blank, (because he had just woken up) and jokingly pulled the trigger. He was not the kind of person to play around with a loaded gun. #fortherecord”

We will continue to post reactions and update this story.

What are your thoughts on the fatal shooting on the set of Rust? Comment below.  How can this not happen again, so everyone is safe in this working environment when ‘dangerous’ props are called for or used to make a movie or a TV show?

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Carly Admits To Sonny She Was Falling Back In Love with Jason

On Friday’s episode of General Hospital, Carly (Laura Wright) and Sonny (Maurice Benard) finally had the “talk”.  You know, the one about what Sonny really walked in on the night he “returned from the dead” on Carly and Jason’s (Steve Burton) wedding night?  Yeah, that one.

Sonny has already had a conversation with Jason, where Jason admitted he was starting to fall again for Carly, even though they were originally getting married to show a united front for the five families.

Now coming to confront Carly, Sonny is at first greeted by her with “Mike’s” cowboy hat, where she says the man he was in Nixon Falls is a mystery to her. Sonny tells her he spoke with Jason and so Carly is compelled to admit that she and Jason would have slept together on their wedding night, if Sonny hadn’t shown up alive and in the bedroom!

Sonny’s clearly upset about his best friend and his wife getting so close and rekindling their old feelings. Carly tells Sonny that, at first, Jason and she were just going through with the wedding for show, but later, they decided to make it a real marriage, and were falling in love.

When Sonny poses the question to Carly, if she has any residual feelings for Jason, she says they have gone back to being best friends, and how much she loves Sonny.  Carly points out that Nina (Cynthia Watros) did this to them – she kept them apart for nine months – and so much has happened that it’s been difficult for them to be together as it was in the past because of it.

In the end, despite what Nina had perpetrated on them, Carly and Sonny come to an agreement that they need to rebuild their relationship.  But the cowboy hat looms as we fade to black.

Clearly, the Jason and Carly relationship and almost consummating it on their wedding night, is not sitting well with Sonny; plus Sonny seems to continue to not really tear into Nina for her deception as much as someone would if he didn’t also have feelings for her.

So, what do you hope happens next? Do you want Sonny and Carly to work things out? Do you hope Sonny sleeps with Nina? If he does, and Jason goes back to Britt (now that they are going on another adventure together to locate Liesl) is Carly ultimately the odd woman out?  Share your thoughts and theories via the comment section below.
