Two-time Daytime Emmy winner, Maura West, who has played Carly Tenney on As the World Turns, has inked a deal with The Young and the Restless to play none other than Diane Jenkins!  Jenkins was last played by Susan Walters.  So while CBS viewers wil see the last of Maura as Carly on the finale of As the World Turns on September 17th, they won’t have to wait long for her to return to their screens, when she debuts as Diane on October 8th.  According to TV Guide Magazine who broke the news this morning, West starts taping at Y&R on September 1st.

So what do you think?  Do you like that West is playing another recasted role on Y&R? Are you looking forward to seeing West mix it up with Eric Braeden and Peter Bergman the titans of the series, since Diane was involved and in love with Jack, but once married to Victor?  And, let’s not forget the sperm swithcheroo incident!  All thanks to Diane.

Stay tuned for more on this developing news item in the coming days ahead.

This is the best news since they recast Abby with MArcy Rylan. I cant wait to see Maura go toe to toe with Michelle Stafford.

I am thrilled with this news! Thought I was done with soaps and said I’d only watch one if either Maura West or Michael Park went to one. Well as you say, BINGO, I’ll now be watching Y&R. Hate that I’m losing Carly Tenney but so happy I’ll continue to see Maura West and her amazing talent. Hope you can get an interview with her soon Michael and get us more scoop. I hope she’ll be extremely happy in this new venture.

I hope she gets a decent role, Lizze from GL her character is annoying. Ben is good, and Shane. They desperately need some new blood over on B&B; getting real sick same old crap.

Well, this is surprising news! She didn’t wait too long to grab a role on Y&R. I don’t know why they are bringing back the character of Diane Jenkins. We have had enough of recurring characters. The only thing that is new is that the actor playing the role is someone else. I’m not sure I am liking it……..We will see…..Jack is too vulnerable right now. That means Emily will be going out of the picture. And where is Patty? They left her out in the wind…..I was hoping she would be coming back in enough time to convcict Adam..What… Read more »

Yes to all the above! I have been watching ATWT as far back as Chris Hughs, SR was there, probably most of the whole 50 years it has been on the air. Carly (Maura) can make me laugh, cry, whatever. I guess all of us imperfect people could identify with her character. I was so ticked that they keep taking the soaps off the air that, I actually sent CBS an email about it. I realize it is cheaper to put on an inane game show than to pay real actors but it doesn’t bring me to the TV every… Read more »

As the World Turns Cast To Perform Virtual Reading Of Final Episode

In a once-in-a soap-lifetime event during the Covid-19 pandemic, the cast of As the World Turns will reunite for one night online for a virtual reading of the CBS daytime drama’s final episode that aired back 10 years ago this past September,

This livestream event is for a good cause and is brought to you by former ATWT cast member, Trent Dawson’s (Ex-Henry) theatre group The Katonah Classic Stage.  Dawson is the artistic director there.

Over 26 veteran cast members from ATWT, including Larry Bryggman, Don Hastings, Kathryn Hays, Elizabeth Hubbard, Michael Park and more are set to participate in the reading plus some surprise guests.

The show will be streamed  n The Locher Room YouTube channel, 0n Wednesday night, October 28th at 8 p.m. EST/5 p.m. PST, where fans will also  have the opportunity to comment and ask questions of the cast,

The event is asking for a $15 donation to be able to see it and you can click here for more info!

Working with Katonah Classic Stage (KCS), a professional, nonprofit theatre group an hour north from New York City, Dawson is hoping this event will help those in need.  KCS has access to outdoor performance space that can provide a safer, more  socially-distant experience for the artists and the audience. The fundraiser not only  applies to salaries, but to health care as well; without employment most artists are ineligible for health coverage during a time when such insurance is critically important.

So what do you think of getting these beloved stars from ATWT together for a good cause to relive and read the script of the final episode from Oakdale? Comment below.
