Back and on Contract: Rebecca Budig Returns To General Hospital!

Watch out Liz, Nikolas, Sam, Jake, Patrick, and the gang, Hayden Barns is about to wake up out of her coma and spring back into action, which is great news for Rebecca Budig fans, and those of General Hospital.
The former All My Children star who received rave reviews for her first-go round in Port Charles a few months ago, is back with the ABC soap opera and on contract!
In story, Hayden took a bullet from Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) hit man after coming to tell Jake (Billy Miller) that he is really Jason Morgan! But with her about to wake up, will her memory be foggy? Will she pick up where she left out? Will she still hit the sheets with Nikolas while blackmailing him? Or, perhaps could she end up being Patrick’s (Jason Thompson) love interest, if Sam (Kelly Monaco) winds up back in the arms of Jason after all is said and done? It’s an intriguing romantic twist to ponder.
Budig told Soap Opera Digest on her return in this week’s issue on newsstands now: “Now we can develop Hayden more, and I’m excited to find out who she really is and all of that kind of stuff.”

She shouldve been Sarah Webber or a recast Britt…i find Hayden a rather undeveloped character…and i hope she isnt the one who tells Jason who he is…let someone else like Sam or Monica figure it out or have Laura, Liz or Nik tell him!!!…Off topic: had a cancer scare and learned im doing fine and cancer free…still feeling somewhat unwell so there are more follow ups to come…

I am so happy for you that you are cancer free. I hope everything else comes back negative. I can kind of relate to what you are going as I get older myself. One nagging ache and pain turns into something else and you think you have something worse when oftentimes it is something less severe. The body and the mind really has a way of messing with us in the form of stress and phantom pains.

PS – I agree she was miscast. They should have utilized the characters they already had fleshed out and cast her as one of those instead of another new character. Cest la vie.

I will say though the new writers continuation of RC’s pets isn’t going to raise the ratings or demos & I will be ticked off if the soap I’ve watched for 20+ years is cancelled because of it
This storyline is still Ron’s! The new writers don’t take over until August 11. For pete’s sake be patient!

Well “Silas” will be gone soon (sad for Michael Easton, but I think a window is opening here for him).
Franco, the character, and the “actor” that originated the stupid character in the first place is just an abomination. Ever since the Sony leak and the callous remarks by the wealthy James Franco and Seth Rogan poking fun at the employees whose information was hacked (I am one of them), I have lost ALL respect for these two who only care about themselves. If anyone doubts this, just read about the emails wherein Rogan refused to change the script to that stupid movie that started the whole thing.
Moreover, this got me to thinking about how James Franco all but ruined GH because HE wanted to be on a soap and how that regime bent over backwards for this person at the expense of a great show and cast.
The character of Franco needs to be decimated once and for all!
I hate James Franco. I hate Franco and I hate Seth Rogan. All that JF did was make a mockery of the show!

The new writing team doesn’t take over until Aug 10,so putting Rebecca on contract was probably Ron and Frank’s idea.
It was Frank’s doing. Frank is like a kid in a toy store and he wants to buy it all.
The problem is that it’s hard to write for so many characters.
GH needs to exercise birth control.

The newer cast are giving the vets stories and vis versa, in with them, same screen time.

Well that’s the thing, not much has changed and it won’t. Frank is still here and the first piece of news since RC got fired is that another supposed “soap star” has been given a contract on GH, playing a character that has no ties to the canvas or history. Just more of the same.
Yes the writing has been awful; all plot, ooc characters and holes you could drive a truck through. But it isn’t the only problem. GH fans want GH. They aren’t interested in these actors from other soaps and ratings have backed that up time and time and again. The only time ratings have ever shown a significant surge in the last three years, it was due to vet returns, nods to history and some polar vortex.
Budig is signed, the show now is chock full of Franco, Nina and Ava. It is the definition of insanity; keep doing the same exact thing and expect a different result. New writers are not going to dramatically change things if they are writing for these characters and actors. GH fans aren’t coming back for them and new viewers are not tuning in for them.
@Kathy….”Vets not pets!” Superbly put!!!! I’m so glad that I’m not alone in my revulsion for the return of this mouthy, meddlesome minx…she’s totally unnecessary and unwelcome as far I’m concerned. May she be the last remnant of the “Ron C” era to curse Port Charles! (August 11th cannot come soon enough……)

Did anyone consider that Rebecca Buddig was put on contract and brought back to the show long before RC was given the ax and certainly before the new head writer’s were hired by ABC? You all have to realize that the show is taped 6-8 weeks in advance, which means that RB could have already been taping her scenes by the time ABC ax’ed RC and hired the new writers.

And to all telling me they don’t take over until Aug 10th I am aware but surely you remember Jean has been back at GH for a while overseeing scripts so if you think she’s not already putting her stamp on things you’d be wrong
Also they at most film 8 weeks out-but after 3 weeks dark they’ll be at 3-4 this is per the actors from an event I attended-in fact they said the most they think they’ve ever been is 6-7 weeks out
So I’d say that coming back off a dark week where RC had already been let go but no announcement had been made changes are already occurring & will continue for a while until their vision & stories take hold
Kathy, a lot of characters had to start out new. I see what your saying but Rebecca is a mega talent and I see her being around for years if thats what she wants. The others you listed can jump in the harbor!
Me thinks not, Timmm! Moreover, to say that Hayden is better than Sappy and Val-Chops combined is certainly damning her with faint praise, indeed!!! Like WHO isn’t???? LOL. I just think RB’s return is very poorly timed….enough people already know the truth about Jason’s true identity, hence, her contributions are hardly needed at this point, and I, for one, am not enthralled by her vulgar vixen act…Her return simply rubs salt in the fresh wound of losing Michael Easton…it’s like the casting merry-go-round continues without a break to see what the new writing team is about to unveil. (I really want to see them as unencumbered as possible with the Ron C leftovers that just didn’t take.) What’s really needed is a serial killer or epidemic storyline to clear the decks so that this soap ship can finally be righted!!!!!

Not only is it excellent news that Rebecca Budig is back at General Hospital, it is even more incredible that she’s back and on contract this time! What was likely meant to be a short-term role, turned into something that is meant to be explored more than it has been! And I think Rebecca is a great addition to the cast, and I cannot wait to see how the new regime settles into developing Hayden Barnes as a vital part of the cast!

Su…vets don’t need and shouldn’t need newbies to give them more screen time. A soap centered around core friends and famies…their lives, entanglements, adventures, romance, crime, ect..,is all it takes. In my opinion soaps draw us in because we form an attachment to these people while we suspend our disbelief. GH is a carousel…keeps bringing people on and kllling them off. I have fictional, emotional whiplash…”oh! Im so happy he-she is coming to GH”,,,”I’m so upset he-she is leaviing!” Repeat ten times…a month.
Hayden may be newer but she already is connected to main characters. Her and Nick were explosive together! I love this news!

Me too! I love Rebecca Budig. And I understand there are a lot of characters, but she is already tied to so many, and I like the Hayden character, there is a lot to explore. I personally would like to see her with Patrick, but I know that I am in the minority. I LOVE Scrubs, but Kimberly is not coming back for good reason, and Jason Thompson deserves a juicy and fun storyline.
If not Patrick, then back to Nicholas, they had a ton of chemistry. I was a fan of Nayden, which is what I refer to them.
Also another person said how about her being a quartermaine. That would be super awesome. I really think there is a lot they can do with her character. she is way better than some of the other newbies-Valerie springs to mind.
Nothing against Rebecca, but why, why, why? Who is this person and what possible ties does this character have to anyone on the canvas? We get further and further away from what is a recognizable General Hospital. This is yet another reason why this show is bleeding viewers.

I see your point but you have to hit the refresh button at some point. I would love if the show still had Rick Webber, Alan, Monica, Amy, Edward, Lila, ect but it just isnt possible. Hayden is a great foundation to build from and we dont even know her background yet?
I would like her to be in romantic triangle with Patrick and Nicholas. Since Sabrina is pregnant in real life so if they write into the storyline Sabrina would be pregnant with Michael child and I hope they do.
I like the way you think. I thought from the first mention of RB coming to GH that she would have great chemistry with Jason Thompson. The idea of a romantic triangle is awesome!
So we dont have enough stupid women sniffing around Jason….Sam, Liz, Carly, etc…we need another nobody circling too? I hope this was one of Ron’s last “brilliant” ideas, and this character and story will be kiboshed.
Sorry to disagree that she is a nobody. She is certainly an accomplished actress whom I have watched on AMC for years.

Giving Hayden amnesia can give the writers the opportunity to redeem this blackmailing bad girl and make her palatable. I thought the actress would have made a marvelous recast of Robin Scorpio.
I also thought that would be a great move, but I think no actress would be accepted as Robin re-cast. Kimberly is that character and I think there would be a huge backlash, and the network knows it. Smart to move on having Patrick with another, rather than recast Robin.
My prayers have been answered, Rebecca is back. If she was paired up with Patrick it would be a deep relationship. If she was with Nicholas, she could be his evil partner. Either man she ends up with, Rebecca will knock her scenes out of the park if she is given good storylines.
I could not have said this any better. I think that it would be fun to explore Patrick and Hayden!

We’re never going to see GH back the way it was.this Nina/Franco/Kiki story.At least we’re getting Christina Corrintos back an we have Laura too. At least u have Sunny an Carly together finally. YES, YES, YES…..thrilled Rebecca is back to be a part of a wonderful ensemble of actors!! Would love to see her involved with either Nik or Patrick. Nik might be tricky given the fact he thought nothing of killing her…..but they are good together. Patrick needs someone who will kick ass and let him know it!! This is great news and ALL GH fans and those wanting to see soaps survive should welcome such a pro and wonderful actress as Rebecca Budig!!!

She wasn’t even on that long for her to use those honed skills. My point? I hope that this time around She will be given the role, this beautiful and talented actress, deserves.

I’m so glad she’s back she really impress me and on contract even better.. Now I want to go on record and say I’ve been watching GH all my life since I was a little girl I remember watching before KM came on as little robin, I think it’s safe to say I’m a veteran GH viewer and I’ve never missed and episode and if I did it was cause of preemption or vcr didn’t work. I bring this up because I’m so tired of reading so many so call fans who just keep on whinning about the newbies taking up space or hating them just because they came from another soap , or hating the 3 oltl vet, enough already the oltl vets have been on GH for 3 freeking years they are no longer newbies or transfer or pets whatever the f*ck u wanna call them they are GH stars now and GH has plenty of GH vets, not everyone can have a storyline or be on contract so shut up already!!! And before you start with we are entitled to our opinion then let me just say ok but so am I and I like a lot of the newbies granted I know not everyone works but stop making it look like every GH vet viewer only wants to see GH vets …

I’m somewhere in the middle, Aria. I like most of the characters, vets and “newbies.” I loved when the OLTL 3 came aboard, and was sorry to lose Kristen…even sorrier to lose Michael. With that said, I DON’T like killing off one vet and replacing them with someone new. It was unnecessary to kill AJ, Duke…And though Michael isn’t a GH vet he’s a seasoned actor with a huge following. He uprooted his family from NY to join GH…they haven’t given him good material since he stepped foot in Port Charles. Felicia, Mac, Ned, Lucy, Monica, Scott..they’re either gone or barely on. So, no…I don’t think there’s a good mix and I do think they’ve short changed the core people of GH to write for new ones.
As for telling posters to shut up…lol…I think there’s a nicer way of putting that. Cause them are fighting words…don’t need them. So, dear, sweet, Aria…peace, love and rock ‘n roll. Etc…

i also want Nina and Franco to stay because together they can be a good comic relief! I just dont want GH to go back to 2004 era (the Sonny and Jason show) No one can deny we saw more people on the show with Ron as head. Just saying!

It is a variety of good stuff.. Ron gave me mysteries, left me baffled figuring out his mysteries… I cried and laughed .. He gave the actors great material to show their talents..
It was a good ride, many twist and turns and surprises, I like them! lol
I guess I want everyone to know GH is the best of the soaps, not perfect and at times in a dup but always a great comeback, as now..
I know– this coming month, RC’s last month will be RC back and bringing it RC style !!

I’m going to reserve judgement until AFTER I see what happens. Who knows, maybe the new writers have got some talent we haven’t seen before. I was never a Greenly fan, especially the “hey, let’s run a business like for real” period on AMC, but maybe Budig will bring something new to GH. I’d rather hope for the best than assume the worst. EVERYONE on the show was a newbie with no history when they started!
This is phenomenal news! Rebecca did a great job her first time around, and will no doubt knock it out of the park again. She’s a great actress, and even though Hayden can be a hellion sometimes, I love having Rebecca around, and playing her to the hilt!
However, the character of Hayden right now serves very little purpose to story, in my opinion. After the truth about Jason comes out, I fear she will outlive her usefulness, and become excess fat that needs to be trimmed.
So, my hope is that Hayden will turn out to be Robin Scorpio, after plastic surgery and some brainwashing by Helena. As far fetched as this story idea is, here is what I hope happens:
Hayden wakes up with amnesia and forgets that she was hired by Ric to con Jason into thinking she was his wife. She doesn’t remember who she is or where she came from, but other characters tell her she’s Hayden. She begins to experience similar memory lapses as Jason has had (caused by her brain injury and coma), and pieces together that she’s Robin. Patrick and Robin find Helena on Cassadine Island, and she reveals that while she kept Robin in captivity, she underwent mental conditioning like Jason did, and was given the new identity of Hayden Barnes.
Point being: Rebecca Budig should be Robin, because it gives her greater ties to the show, and it solves the issue of having Robin constantly absent, when she should be home with Patrick and Emma.
Also, Patrick should have the love of his life back, because when Sam finds out that Jake is Jason, she’ll no doubt go running to him. And then, Nikolas and Elizabeth can get back together when everyone else shuns them for keeping the truth about Jason a secret to service their own personal agendas.
Even if this doesn’t happen, I’m still glad that Rebecca is returning.
Long time Rebecca Budig fan here. I’m happy for her. She seems pleased to have gotten a contract with GH. I will watch because I’m a loyal fan. But personally, I think Rebecca belongs on a prime time show and in more film roles. It’s a sham

I found Hayden the character exciting and dangerous, a real vixen quality about her. It’s a very soap opera character. I was never a Big Greenlee fan but in knowing that character enough I can say she brings all those beautiful things about the Greenlee character to Hayden but with a much more mature gusto. This is good
Oh and by the way I’m sick of the list of who should fired list everyday!! Valerie for example hasn’t been on long enough for anyone to really see what else she can do or become. Maybe the new writers are capable of adding some textures to her characterization.
Just how many actors in California is Frank trying to keep from selling real estate? Just remember though everybody at one time was a newbie on a soap.
No offense to Ms. Budig, but GH does not need another useless character wandering around with no ties to anyone.
I’m hoping with the demise of Silas, Kiki and Ava will be next. I don’t have anything against Maura West either; she’s a very capable actress, I just don’t care for the character and I don’t want to watch the Jerome clan anymore.
I have a lot of hope for the new writing team in that we can rid of these lame current stories.

Kudos to the lovely Rebecca. This is déjà vu, originally Greenlee was a short term character but Rebecca made it such a compelling character and the rest is history.
Rebeca is a very talented actress..
Any time any soap can bring in great acting talent it is a very good thing..
Hayden has just begun, there will much more to her and how she will be worked in RC has that/her direction planed out 6 months to a year ahead of time..
IF the new writers will keep RC’s journey for Hayden going, dunno, they could will turn her into googy googy nun..
Frank did well bring in Rebeca..
Hayden will give Nikolas and others great stories / one hand feeds the other ..

Whenever a former actor from A M C gets a role on a soap, it makes me happy. Honestly I’m happy to have a daytime soap to watch period.
Happy to hear that Rebecca is back !! Hopefully, this ridiculous , “everyone knows who Jake is except Sam and Jason”, is over. Sad to see Silas gone, but I am sure that he had better things to do. GH ruins all of their best storyline : Nickolas and Brit, Sam , Jason, & Silas, Luke and Tracy, Kiki and Morgan…. and leave us with boring, Ava/Denise, Alexis, and Valerie. Thankfully, we have Franco and Nina !!!!!
Would love to see that Robin and Hayden are fraternal twins, It would make for a great twist !!
I do NOT want Laura Wright/Nancy Grahn/Rebecca Herbst SACRIFIED for Rebecca Budig. This is GH NOT AMC and all 3 of these other actresses have characters in CORE GH families. I do not want GH to turn into the former Greenlee NOW Hayden show. If they wanted a baddie they should have kept Britt.
i think rb is a good actress but let’s be real she didn’t bring gh any new viewers or help thier ratings neighter has any of the other soap stars from other soaps . Gh ratings wil soar with vet returns with out they will keep failing the Haden chararacter will be just as boring as she was when she debut more fans will get tried of theses constsnt newbies and kerp tuning out !! ‘General Hospital’s’ Jonathan Bennett Receives 3 ‘Critics Choice Real TV Awards’ Nominations for Hallmark Series, ‘Finding Mr. Christmas’
Many things are coming up roses for Jonathan Bennett! On the heels of the news that he is set to debut this month in the role of Joe Fitzpatrick on General Hospital, who is rumored to be a new love interest for Lucas Jones (Van Hansis), comes the news that Bennett’s reality series, Finding Mr. Christmas has received 3 nomination for the Critics Choice Real TV Awards.
Bennett’s Hallmark Channel series finds itself in tough competition alongside fellow nominees: RuPaul’s Drag Race (MTV), Squid Game: The Challenge (Netflix), Survivor 50 (CBS), Top Chef (Bravo) and The Traitors (Peacock). In addition, Jonathan himself is nominated for Best Show Host and the series participants as the Best Ensemble Cast in an Unscripted Series.
The Critics Choice Association (CCA) revealed the nominees for the eighth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards on Thursday, which recognize excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms. Winners will be announced online at CriticsChoice.com on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 9:00am PT/12:00pm ET.

Taking to his Instagram to celebrate the nominations, GH’s Bennett, enthused, “3 Critic Choice Nominations! I’m so proud of the FINDING MR CHRISTMAS and to be in the company of all the legends in all these categories is so surreal! Congrats to Hallmark Channel and to our nominated cast and nominated show and everyone who made this magical show possible. This is crazy! This gives FMC 6 Critics Choice nominations in 2 years. Not bad for a little show on Hallmark Channel. What are your thoughts on our show?” Jumping first into the comment thread was one of his new GH co-stars, Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) who expressed, “Yeah buddy!!!🔥🔥”
In the series, Bennett, the host and co-creator spends eight weeks guiding 10 aspiring actors through a series of “festive face-offs” and acting challenges alongside actors like soap opera notables, Hunter King (ex-Summer, Y&R) and Alison Sweeney (Sami, DAYS). Along the way, they develop their skills and a bond with one another. The show, which is available on Hallmark Channel and Hallmark Plus, highlights LGBTQ+ representation with openly gay contestants vying to be the next Hallmark star.
It should be noted that Traitors received the most Critics Choice Real TV Award nominations with 6 nods, followed by Dancing with the Stars with 4.
Bennett is very familiar to daytime fans having started his career as JR Chandler on All My Children in 2000-2001, before landing the part of Aaron Samuels in the motion picture, Mean Girls in 2004 starring Lindsay Lohan, which would become his breakout performance.

‘General Hospital’s’ Kelly Thiebaud on Britt and Cassius Sibling Drama, But Who Will Ultimately Blow His Cover?
On the April 30 episode of General Hospital, Britt (Kelly Thiebaud) had some choice words and warning for her brother Cassius Faison (Ryan Paevey) who has been masquerading as his twin, the very dead, Nathan West.
As the story has unfolded, viewers learned that Britt knew all along that when “Nathan” showed up in Port Charles seemingly resurrected with a missing 7 years of his life unexplained, that Cassius was taking his place.
Now in developments on today’s GH, Josslyn Jacks (Eden McCoy) is figuring out that this guy pretending to be Nathan is someone else, and Cassius learns from Britt, that Joss is not just a ditzy sorority girl as he claimed, but a WSB agent! The moment stuns Cassius. Are the walls about to close in on him and his charade?

Daytime Emmy winner, Kelly Thiebaud spoke to Soap Opera Digest, about the story point and getting the opportunity this time back at GH to work with Ryan Paevey, when she hadn’t had the chance to before.
BROTHERLY LOVE?
Thiebaud expressed on sharing scenes with Ryan Paevey, “It’s just been so wonderful to have him back and to actually work with him! When he first came onto the show (as Nathan at the end of 2013) I was kind of heading out — it was right towards the end of my contract, so we didn’t actually work together a ton. It’s been really refreshing and so much fun to really spend time together and get to know each other and work together. I think we have really great on-camera chemistry and banter with each other. I really enjoy working with him.”
With the stakes at an all-time, Thiebaud explained how she views her on-screen alter-ego’s involvement with her more hot-to-temper sibling and why Britt revealed the truth about Josslyn to him. “People finding out about Cassius would expose what she’s involved in and what she agreed to do,” explains Kelly “And now Josslyn is digging around, and she’s connected to Carly (Laura Wright) to Jason (Steve Burton) and that whole dynamic! It’s messy!”
BRITT’S MURKY FUTURE
Britt has currently also reached her breaking point with Jason being carted away by the WSB, Rocco (Finn Carr), the child she gave birth to, shooting Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) to protect her and Jason, Marco (Adrian Anchondo) being killed after trying to help her, and Cullum holding over her head getting her Huntington’s disease medication to control her symptoms, while blackmailing her into finishing the research on her father, Cesar Faison’s, final project. Thiebaud summed it up best for Britt right now, sharing, “It’s been a really tough time for her.”

GENERAL HOSPITAL: Michael Reveals His Plan to Set Up Chase and Willow to Have an Affair
After the Wednesday, April 29 episode of General Hospital, it’s clear outside interference and other circumstances are set to blow Chase (Josh Swickard) and Brook Lynn’s (Amanda Setton) marriage sky high, as Michael (Rory Gibson) reveals his plans to entrap Willow (Katelyn MacMullen) and use her relationship with Chase to do it!
In story, Michael dropped by unexpectedly to Carly’s (Laura Wright). A plotting Michael reveals his plan to nudge Willow and Chase into having an affair. Michael hopes it would create both a political and personal scandal, where Willow would lose her seat in congress. In the scenario, she would be having an affair with her ex-husband, while taking care of her supposed disabled husband, Drew (Cameron Mathison), who cannot speak and is confined to a wheelchair, which in turn will look horrible for Willow’s character.
Carly asked does he really want to destroy his cousin, Brook Lynn’s life in the process? Michael goes in on Chase’s holier than thou attitude, and says he is going to set-up the circumstances that would lead Chase and Willow to betray their spouses, and hit the sheets together. Michael swears to Carly what the two of them do is up to them, but he’s going to go on the offense with this.
MICHAEL HAS BACK-UP
Later, Jacinda (Paige Herschell) is talking with Charlotte (Bluesy Burke) at Crimson and how much she dislikes Willow because of what she has done to Michael. Just then, Michael shows up and tells Jacinda privately, he’s figured out a way to fight Willow. Looks like Jacinda might work with Michael to bring down Willow and use Chase as the person to do it!
At the hospital, Lucas (Van Hansis) tells Josslyn (Eden McCoy) that Carly is cheating on Jack, but he doesn’t know with who. Josslyn suddenly flashes back to the moment she found her mother harboring a fugitive, Valentin Cassadine (James Patrick Stuart), in her attic, and as figured out that her mother is sleeping with him. She heads out.

BRENNAN IS ABOUT TO LEARN ABOUT CARLY
Next thing you know, Josslyn has showed up inside Jack’s (Chris McKenna) hotel room at the Metro Court and when he enters his room, he is shocked to find her there. He lays into her for not keeping his distance and that Cullum (Andrew Hawkes) will have no problem killing her if he knows she’s WSB. Josslyn fires back that he is only concerned about that because his relationship with her mother depends on her being safe. But then, she lays the boom, and tells Jack, Well, you’re too late. You already lost her.”
LULU GETS A GLIMPSE OF CASSIUS’ TEMPER
In addition, Lulu (Alexa Havins) sees a different side of “Nathan.” Since she is unaware that the man before her is his twin, Cassius Fasion (Ryan Paevey), he tells her that Rocco (Finn Carr) blabbed that he shot Cullum to Britt (Kelly Thiebaud), and now he thinks they should send him away to stop him from talking to everyone else. This concerns Lulu, who rails at Nathan for telling her what to do with her son and that she isn’t going to abandon him. With “Nathan’s” outburst at her on the matter, will she finally get a clue this is not the man she thinks it is?
